Overcoming the Most Common Struggles and Blocks, Part 2: Tracey Walker on Notifications, Focus, and Fear
Your phone buzzes and your hand moves before your brain gets a vote. An email lands and you feel compelled to answer it in the next ninety seconds, even though nobody actually asked you to. Tracey Walker spends the second half of this Unstoppable Mastermind session on exactly that reflex, and on two other blocks that quietly run underneath a lot of stalled businesses: trying to serve too many people at once, and staying silent about your real goals because you’re afraid of who’s paying your bills.
As someone juggling a business around a job, a household, and a phone that never stops lighting up, you already live inside this tension daily. Tracey doesn’t offer more willpower as the fix. She offers a different structure entirely.
Why Do You Feel Obligated to Answer Every Notification the Instant It Arrives?
Tracey walks through her own browser tabs to make the point concrete: a set order she opens every day, each one closed the moment she’s done with it, so nothing sits open pulling at her attention all day long. Facebook stays open because that’s her chosen platform. Everything else gets checked, handled, and shut.
Let it accrue so that when you go to your Facebook and you have time set for Facebook, you actually have something to do in your Facebook time.
That single shift changes the entire relationship between you and your phone. Notifications piling up isn’t a problem to solve. It’s a batch of work waiting for the time you’ve actually set aside for it. The alternative, answering the instant something dings, means you’re never really working on anything, you’re just reacting all day to whatever arrived last. As Tracey Walker puts it, “You are not obligated to respond to a prospect the instant that they inbox you.” A little bit of visible unavailability tends to make people want to work with you more, not less.
What Happens When You Try to Serve Three Different Audiences at Once?
One woman in the room kept listing off the different groups she wanted to help: people escaping a nine to five, moms saving for their kids’ college fund, and a third group she added while Tracey was mid-sentence. Tracey stopped her cold, because that’s not ambition, it’s a scattered message that lands with nobody.
As Tracey Walker puts it, “you can’t chase two rabbits and expect to catch one”. Pick the audience you actually know from firsthand experience, the one whose problems you can describe without doing research, and build your entire content and marketing plan around solving for that one group specifically. Everyone else can wait for a second phase. Trying to write to three audiences in one video or one post means nobody in any of those audiences feels like you were talking to them.
What’s Really Stopping You From Speaking Your Truth Out Loud?
The deepest block in this session has nothing to do with strategy. A woman in the room admitted she was holding back her real message online because her current employer might see it and react. Tracey didn’t soften the response.
She named the actual fear underneath it directly, and it’s worth sitting with if you’ve ever hesitated to post something true because of who might see it.
- The only thing an employer can actually take from you for speaking honestly, assuming you’re not attacking anyone, is a paycheck. Not your safety, not your worth, just income.
- That fear feels enormous because you’ve quietly decided the person signing your check deserves more of your obedience than you deserve of your own respect.
- Staying quiet doesn’t make you safe. It keeps you comfortable, which is a different thing entirely, and comfortable is exactly where dreams go to wait forever.
Tracey pushes further into a list of pointed questions she calls the real test: whether you’re willing to invest in yourself, willing to change what needs changing, willing to risk being misunderstood as part of the cost of getting somewhere new. Most people are already able to do what it takes. Willingness, not ability, is the actual gate.
The full recording goes deeper into how she works through this with the group in real time, plus her thinking on staying consistent once you’ve decided something is worth being consistent about. What distracts you, real fast? What distracts you? Being on Facebook and going through my email, checking my email. Non-income producing activities.
Procrastination for doing what needs to be done. Why? Because those things scare you. So you avoid them.
And so what I'm saying is cut Facebook off. Cut the email off. If you want to know what I do on my computer, I have my tab. So I have a Mac, and I use Chrome.
You can do the different tabs. So I've got a certain set of tabs that I go to every day. So when I hit Chrome and it opens up, I've got like seven or eight tabs that open up consistently every time. The first tab is my law of attraction quote of the day.
The second one is Facebook. The third one is EM back office. The fourth one is lead pages. The fifth one is AWeber.
The sixth one is ClickMeeter. The seventh one is… Oh, how many did I say? I said it sounds like mine.
Oh, right. Okay. Then I got Gmail. Then I got my other emails I have, like for all my private stuff.
Okay. Then I've got HipChat. I got HipChat because that's how we communicate with the leadership. So whenever I hit Chrome, those things open up.
Now, I have them in that order on purpose because the first thing I want to do when I get on the computer is focus on something good. I'm receiving something for the day. Law of attraction quote of the day. Whatever that is.
So I read that. When I'm done with that, guess what I do? X the tab out. I don't keep it up there because I need to just keep going back to it later.
I read it. I internalize that. I X out the tab. Okay.
Next thing is Facebook. I go on the Facebook. I go in there and I see if I have messages. Right?
If I need to respond to people. I see if I got notifications. If I need to do with the core. If I need to do over here.
Do something with that. If I get a chance to go in there and do that right then and there, I'll do that right then and there. And then I'll close out the Facebook tab. Tab down.
Next tab. EM back office. I'll go in there and look at commissions. Does that look like I need for them to look?
Okay. We need to fix something. That's why Lead Pages is right next to it. I leave Empower up.
I go to Lead Pages. Let me go see what my stats are for my pages. What's happening? What kind of conversion rates am I getting from my pages?
Pages not doing well? Let me change something. They know what I'm talking about because I showed them in the Millionaires Club what I'm talking about. Right?
I might make a change. Then I go over here to what? Click meter. And set the text.
Whatever the links are. And make sure the campaign is running the way it's supposed to run. I'm getting traffic to it. Everything is lined up right.
I click out of there. Click meter. Now, I leave Facebook up because Facebook doesn't distract me in that way. I don't have any sounds on it.
All right? When Facebook is doing whatever it's doing on my computer, there's no sounds. It's just there. If it says 25 notifications, it says 25 notifications.
I don't get a ding every time that happens. Okay. Then email. All right?
I go in there. I check the email. I see what's going on. I respond to my assistant accordingly.
I respond to emails I need to respond to accordingly. If it's junk mail, I click, click, click, click, click. Mass delete. Done.
Email down. Same thing with the next email account. Do that thing right there. Then HipChat.
Now, that dings. That dings. And it doesn't ding that much because it's the leadership of the company. Right?
So, it's only really dinging when J. Crown is saying something or somebody's got something they really got going on. A real conversation is going on and we're involved in the conversation. Other than that, people working.
We're not chatting over here all day long. Right? And that's that. So, if nothing's going on, I don't see that much action.
I don't see that much activity. I don't look like anything is pressing. I shut HipChat down, too. So, really, the only two things that are constant on my computer are, oh, I forgot, Aweber.
I forgot to say I checked Aweber. But really, I stay up. At the end of the day, really, Facebook stays up because I do a lot of interaction. That's my strategy.
Okay? So, I do a lot of that. So, I need that up there. I keep Aweber up.
I don't have EM up. I don't need the, there's nothing dynamic happening on that website. It's static. It's, if you made money, you'll see it because that was yesterday.
Because that was yesterday's money. If you're going to be on a leaderboard, you're either on it right now. You're not going to appear on it at 6 o'clock or at 7 o'clock. You're not going to appear on it until tomorrow if you're going to be on it.
So, if you're not on it right now today, that is a function of yesterday's activity. So, if I want to be on it tomorrow, then I shut that down and I go do the work to make sure I can get on the board for tomorrow. Do you see what I'm saying? So, I'm really only looking at, on a consistent basis, Facebook, Aweber, not even lead pages because once I make the changes, I shut that down.
It's really, and my blog. I take that back. I forgot the blog up there. Those are really the three things.
At the end of the day, if I had to look at three tabs consistently, it's really Facebook, it's Aweber, and my blog. Whatever I'm done with, I shut the tab down. Just shut the tab down. Why is it still up there?
You're not going to miss anything. Right? Now, actually, it's better if you shut the Facebook tab down and then what happens is if you allow notifications to occur. Right?
That's true. You actually are more productive when you have 40 notifications and 20 emails than if you write one email and you're responding. Oh, got another one. Email.
Uh-oh. Desmond just texted. Uh-oh. I got a notification.
Let me go see. Carlton uploaded a picture. Uh-oh. Let me see what Carlton's picture was.
Uh-oh. Uh-oh. Such and such invited you to this game. Oh, let me go ahead and disable this notification.
I don't like that game. I don't want to be on that game. Uh-oh. Cheryl just asked a question.
Right? You don't have to do everything like Johnny on the spy. It's okay. Let it accrue so that when you go to your Facebook and you have time set for Facebook, you actually have something to do in your Facebook time.
Respond to all of this. Comment on such and such. Answer your inbox messages. Go to your group notifications.
Interact with this. Interact with that. You don't need to do it all day. Do it in a period of time and shut the window down, especially if it's a distraction for you.
Does that make sense? I don't care. Listen, the discipline is the discipline. You are not obligated to respond to a prospect the instant that they inbox you.
Who is in control? You are the prospect. The posture. Busy people.
When you give people the impression that you are busy, they want to work with you. When you need them and you're right there, oh my God, you answered me. Now, I do have people that say, oh, Tracy, I can't believe you answered me so fast. They don't know.
They just happen to catch me. They don't know. They don't know. They don't know.
They don't know. They don't know. They don't know. They don't know.
They don't know. They don't know. They don't know. They don't know.
They don't know. They don't know. They don't know. They don't know.
They just happen to catch me during my Facebook time, where I was already in the mode of doing that, and an email came through and I said, okay, I'll just answer you right then. If they're sending me an email outside the time that I'm doing Facebook, I don't care. They're going to wait because I am in control of my business and I have to be in control of my time. I have to control.
I have to manage myself in time. I can't let somebody else's urgency become now my emergency you understand what I'm saying you can't be that hungry or thirsty for the sale that you get all off of your your routine and your regimen because you gotta close this sale if it's the right person you're gonna be able to answer the email when you get to that part of your day and it's gonna be just fine that's the discipline of it does that help adding value to prospects okay if adding value to prospects instructions is adding value to yourself we talked about this okay so if you're reading like we say reading daily listen to audio daily you're doing this type of stuff you're gonna add value to your prospects you know why because the people that's just like you want to take part in the things that you're sharing with them they just there is no conscious thing that you would even have to do if you would just focus on listen.
Here's what I learned today. Let me share this with y'all today. If you were constantly adding value to yourself so that you can spill over, your cup would run over. Your cup runneth over, right?
You wouldn't have that problem if you were filling your cup. The only way you have a problem feeding everybody else is when you don't have enough food on the table. You've got to feed yourself. You've got to put the stuff inside.
You've got to get it flowing up so deep in you that there's never a shortage of value that you can give to somebody, especially about what we're talking about, business, entrepreneurship, how to work with your spouse, whatever your area is. What's your area? What's your niche that you're working in? I'm trying to work with other people who, nine to five people who are tired of the grind.
Okay, and so what is it that you want them to know? I want them to know that there is another way to earn an income that's detached from their time. Okay. Okay, so what you're going to do as an exercise is you're going to take the top 10 problems that you feel people with a nine to five have, and then you're going to find this, you're going to create the solution for all those 10 things.
And then you're going to create a video series that answers each problem that they have is going to be its own video. Each answer and question, each question and answer, or each problem and solution is its own video. And you're going to create 10 of them. Okay, what's going to happen?
And so what don't you do, I want you to write a content calendar. In other words, I want you to brainstorm and come up with the 10 things that right on top of your head, you are you a nine to five person? Okay, so you know, you have first hand experience, you don't have to research it, you know, okay, so it shouldn't take that much time. So then you come up with 10 things that you know, that as a nine to five person, this is what they want to escape from.
I kind of did that. I did it. Okay. And also, I just think it's like I've been like, really filling my cup.
But it's so much like mediocrity around me, that I feel like I'm getting distracted from that. Okay, significant other in the house who doesn't really like believe in you. And I think that's the reason I need to like believe in myself more. Yeah, so that I can project that out, like in my content.
Okay. So somebody is always being sold, right? Either you're being sold or whatever. And it's right now you're buying, you're buying the bull.
Right. Okay. So yes, you got to stop buying the bull. Okay.
Second thing is, if you've done it, do it again, because you've done it with an energy of mediocrity. So when people watch it, it's not impactful. Do it again. But do it again from a different mindset.
Do it again from this from the side that believes in you do it again, from the standpoint that says, you know what, I know I can help you do from the standpoint that says, Listen, if you want to get out of this job, you better listen up and you may listen up fast. Because here's the deal. The deal is you're gonna work another 20 years, you ain't gonna have jack. The truth is that most people are leaving their jobs, they have no retirement.
They're greeters at Walmart, and they're 70 years old. The truth of the matter is that your Social Security check is not going to be enough to sustain a funeral and expense or nothing. Ain't nobody gonna do nothing for you upon your homecoming, homegoing, unless you set it up. The bottom line is that if you don't keep if you don't start putting some things in place now for you to start living your dreams, you're never gonna live your dreams.
You're never gonna do it because you've already been doing this for 15 years. And how close are you to your dreams? Now? You're not you're not any closer if you keep doing the same things you've been doing the last five years.
There's a clear indication that over the next five years, you're gonna be the same exact place. But you got to speak with power and passion about what is it you're talking about? Because you care about the people you feel for the people if you do. So do it again, but do it from that posture.
You with me? You can't you can do it again. But do it in that posture. You can do something from a weak posture and it not work and you do the same thing again from a strong posture and it go like gangbusters yes are you going to do that yes okay when you're going to do that tonight perfect wonderful love that okay so are we clear on adding value okay authority are we clear on that cheryl or we need to tap in that some more everybody clear on authority okay you sure cheryl yes and speaking with confidence and um just being more sure so you feel like you speak with uncertainty yeah why um i don't know are you uncertain i mean not when i'm when i'm conversating with myself not necessarily when i have a one-on-one conversation right and that we were talking about that right i feel like we have the best conversation that's like in front of the camera okay so what's happening is external circumstances are affecting the way that the way that you perform for example there's a camera camera cameraing me there's a camera filming right now i see the camera i see the lights i see the man behind the camera i see this guy over here i see everything that's going on around here but i am so engaged and Cheryl right now that that has no bearing on what me and you are talking about now again I'm not saying that you're going to instantly snap your fingers and you don't see them what I'm saying is that you've got to focus see focus is not just about your eyes everybody know that focus is really about where you are directing your attention and your energy you cannot focus on two things you cannot focus on two things at the same time you can be aiming in the direction of two things at the same time but you can't focus clear on the two things you can't chase two rabbits and expect to catch one you can't you got to choose if the rabbits if the rabbits are running and the rabbits go this way you can't chase them both and expect to catch one you got to choose which one you're going to to go after and go that direction.
You have a better chance in doing that. So I can't focus on the camera and focus on you at the same time. I cannot. What's more important?
My fear of the camera or the fact that I get across to you that you can do this and there's nothing to be uncertain about. The cameras don't matter. The camera is a machine. It is a machine that is non-human.
It has no feedback for you. It has no opinion of you. It has no judgment of you. It has nothing.
It can do nothing. It can't harm you. It can't hurt you. It is nothing.
It is a piece of equipment that you can cut off or cut on at your leisure. There is nothing about the camera that should stop you from getting out your message because the camera, ironically, is the way that you're going to spread the message out to enough people in order for you to get the financial freedom that you need to be done with what you're trying to be done with. You don't understand me about focus? You cannot do it both.
I cannot be focused on this event. I cannot be focused on whether or not somebody is judging me at the same time that I am trying to inspire somebody into their greatness. I can't. Somebody's going to win.
Somebody's buying something and somebody's selling something all the time. I just choose not to focus on that because it's not serving me. I harm myself if I don't focus on that. I just choose not to focus on that because it's not serving me.
If I focus on that, so I do better just focusing on this. Same thing with you, right? You have a message. What's the message, Cheryl, that you want to get out?
What's your message? You mean to like my target market? Yeah. Your target market, what are you saying to them?
What is your point? What is your point? Why should I even listen to you? You have authority and why should I even accept that you are an authority figure?
Great question. Um, so this is what I'm saying. Okay. So we got to get clear.
So what happens is you go on video, you're not really clear on who you're talking to and what you're saying. That is not a problem with the machinery. It's easy to say, oh my goodness, it's the machinery that's causing me this discomfort. It's not.
It's you're not really crystal clear on what you're saying and why you're saying it. Therefore, the machinery would do nothing but broadcast that fact out to more people. And that's what you don't want. You don't want more people to see that.
So you shy from that. You can fix that by getting clear on what you're saying and who you're saying it to. Because if you got clear on who you're talking to and what you're saying to them, the camera's your friend. Yeah.
And it goes to focus because I probably have a few different areas, you know, of people that I like to speak to. Yeah. But you can't listen one step at a time. Build your fortune.
Here. Leverage your authority, your credibility, your expertise from over here. Take it over here. And build over here.
That's a hard pill for some people to swallow. And it's because everybody wants to talk about multiple streams of income. I've talked about this over and over and over and over and over again. Multiple streams of income.
I am for multiple streams of income. But I want you guys to think about this. Most people that own a McDonald's franchise, if they own a McDonald's franchise, don't also own a competing Burger King franchise. It doesn't mean that they don't invest in it.
They don't invest in other stuff. And they don't have multiple streams of income. It usually means that people aren't owning all competitive things in the same space. Me too.
You know what I'm saying? Like, what is it called? I forget what they call it. The business term for it.
But essentially, you are causing your own sales to go down if you are also promoting a competitor's product just for the sake of multiple streams of income. In case they don't buy this, I can sell them this. Maybe. Right?
Possibly. But then that's a myth on gymnastics all over again. So the thing is, if you want to service the people who want to leave their job, then you got to get clear and focused about the reasons why you want to help that group of people. If you want to help the group of people that are the single moms, then you got to get clear and focused on why you want to help that group of people, which is a totally different possibly.
Some things might overlap. But for the core, it's two different initiatives. The single mom and leaving the corporate job, two different core drivers for what these people are doing. Right?
If you want to help whatever group, okay, fine. But the idea is to take the thing that resonates with you the most now. What resonates with you the most? The most.
If you have a priority, a to-do list, and you got ten things you got to do, what's the most important thing to do? What's the most important? If you had to pick the most important group that you feel like you need to impact, what is that group? They're kind of equally important.
Okay. What are they? One is, yeah, people who want to leave work. One is moms who want to, you know, who have kids in college and want to pay for their kids' college so they don't end up in debt and have to take loans to pay for college.
Okay. Also… There's another one? No, ma'am.
No. She got three rabbits. So, one. So, two.
You already got two that we can't make a decision on, so you're going to add a third? Sure. That's insanity. You can't do that.
So, what do you have the most knowledge about of the people leaving the workforce and of the moms for the college fund? What do you know? What do you know the most about? What could you talk about on end without having to do much, much research and feel confident speaking about it because you know it?
You know it because you know it. Probably the corporate mindset, but I have to kind of be careful about what I say because my job, you know… So, you're scared of the people… Wait a minute.
I'm going to hit a button for a second. The very people that you want to get away from have instilled so much fear in you that you will not speak your truth because they might say something, do something, have some type of negative repercussion on you. The only thing they could do is fire you. And if they fired you, then you just…
What would you lose? The check. That's all that could happen. You wouldn't die.
So, really, you're afraid of them to stop paying you if you were to speak your truth. Is that not… I mean, if we boiled it down. I'm just saying this is the reality of what we're dealing with.
This is why people get started in your business and you don't know why they won't go. It's not just a function of do the lead capture page, do this, get traffic. It's other stuff. It's other stuff that's going on.
This has nothing to do with the funnel. This is even if the funnel was 100% perfect, you wouldn't do it because you couldn't be yourself doing it. Right. So, when do you draw the line?
When do you say that you want this so bad? When do you say that you're willing to do what it takes? Now, I'm not saying deliberately go out there and cause yourself to be fired. What I am saying is that everything has to be done intact and with, you know, professionalism.
But I'm saying since when does your truth mean that you can't earn money? Since when does your truth mean that somebody else has power over what you say and what you don't say? This is what I said about when I had my real estate business and I first started a home-based business. And I was a boss versus inspiring people to do stuff.
Right. It's different. You can fear people when you control their paycheck. If you want to know what the control is, it's fearing people that they're not going to get any money.
It used to be physical bondage. Right. It used to be physical ball and chain. But they're not physically ball and chaining you.
They've mentally balled and chained you. Right. You will not step outside this. You will not step over this line because they told you not to.
And if you do, they're going to cut you off. And your fear of them cutting you off, Cheryl, is prohibiting you from building your own business. It is. Now listen.
Sometimes, I heard this in Chicago. How many of you guys went to the Chicago event? I know it was a while ago. Some of you guys maybe.
First off, right, or you are going to what? Jump off. If you jump off, guess what happens? You're in control.
Faith is needed either way. Because if you jump off, you've got to believe that you're going to grow your wings on the way down. You've got to believe and know that you are not going to crash and burn. You are not.
You know why? Because you have this instinct of survival. That you do that. But that instinct does not kick in when you are safe.
And right now, you're safe. You think you're safe. But really, it's torment. Because you really want to do something else.
But you're prohibiting yourself from doing that. Because you're mentally balled and chained. And now, either they're going to push you off. Because if you say something out of line, they're going to push you off.
And you're not going to be ready for that. And if you're not ready for that, then it's like you've got to find your way. But if you jump off. You've got to have more control.
I'm not saying do either. I'm not advising you on what to do. I'm saying this is the deck that we're dealing with. And I'm saying that you've got to make a decision.
I'm just simply suggesting that you don't ever, ever, ever stifle your message. Or ever, ever, ever stifle what God is putting on your heart to share with others. Because of what another man or woman holds over your head. That's what I'm saying.
That's why I'm so passionate about this freedom. That's why this is a big deal. Because Cheryl can't be free no matter how many events. No matter how many times I stand up here.
No matter how many people speak at the event. No matter how many millionaires I made. No matter how many whatever. She will never be free until she decides that she is not afraid of somebody holding that check over her head.
It won't happen. The line has to be drawn in the sand. At what point are you so serious and passionate about what you're talking about that you're willing to risk it at least. Doing at once what needs to be done ensures the possibility of success.
Do you see how this keeps playing into? This is where it applies. It's not just a quote. It's not a quote.
Doing at once what needs to be done ensures the possibility of success. Let's see. Cheryl, what's this say right here? Okay.
So read right here and then read that little part in italics. Oh, the quote up here? You can read the quote and then everything to that little line right there. Okay.
Do not get new results with old habits. Change is essential for growth. Change. Completely review how you've been living and decide what changes must be made to become the person you have visualized yourself being in your new image.
Then change them. Then what? Change them. So the young lady says, hey, how do I take my efforts into cash?
It's action, man. It's you know what you need to be doing. But you're not doing it. But why are you not doing it?
Because it's fear. Something. I'm not saying it's an invalid fear. I'm not saying it shouldn't be a fear.
I'm saying it is a very real and present fear. And the question is, is the fear more important than the person that you desire to be? No. Right.
So what's the worst that can happen, Cheryl, if your job sees you speaking about freedom? Well, they can let me go and that can, you know, be a weight off my shoulder in the end. If they let you go, what's the worst that can happen if they let you go? I can do my business full time.
And if you didn't have a security blanket like a job to do your business full time, what would probably happen? You'd probably grow your wings on the way down. I'd adapt. You would adapt.
Hello, Cheryl. I'm jumping with you. See, this is what I was saying about I had to let go of the brick and mortar. I talked about the house.
See, it was the fear of, it was the fear of failure. It was the fear of failure. It was the perception that I had failed. I had been successful, for the most part, in things I had done.
And now, this one thing I wanted was to build my house, which I did. I failed at it. So much so that they foreclosed on my house. So when I was in the fear phase, that was the torment phase.
That was the phase where it's, but why? But I don't know how. But how does… Wait, but, but.
But how do I save it? And so now, I'm taking everything I got, trying to throw it at this, right? Okay, every little dime I got, I'm throwing in this pit, the money pit. Why?
Because the market had did like this, and now, even though I'm paying $3,500 a month for a house, the house was only worth $350. So why would I do that? Because I want to keep up this image that I hadn't failed? So you, the image of me, is that I'm doing well.
But my character is suffering from this, isn't it? Because image is who you think I am, but character is who I really believe I am. So I was sacrificing my character for image. I'd let go of the brick and mortar.
I'd say, you know what? Fuck what people got to think about the house. The house is the house. I'm sorry.
I'm not going to keep doing this. I've got… I do better wiping the slate clean and starting all over and manage all these moving pieces at the same time. I do better saying F everybody.
I'm going to file bankruptcy twice. I'm going to foreclose on this house. I need my cars, though. So I'm going to keep hiding them.
I need my cars. I've got to get where I've got to get to. What's the worst that could happen? Nothing.
And I'm going to jail because of it. You see what I'm saying? If they caught me with the car, what would they do? Repossess the car.
Put it on my credit report. Am I going to jail for it? No. So I'm going to keep the car.
Until I don't need the car no more. And then I'll either give it back or whatever. Right? So I'm always asking, what's the worst that could happen?
If I ain't going to jail or die, then it's peace of mind. So you got to do that, Cheryl. Okay? It says here are ten areas of your life you must review.
Personal appearance. Personal life. Social life. Personal development program.
Health. Working habits. Attitude. Time management.
Business associates. Business associates and leadership abilities. You can add more, I said, but these are the things that you need to pay the most attention to right off the bat. So the exercises, you have to go through all these things and say what you're going to change about each of those areas and by when.
So personal appearance, what would you change? Personal life, what would you change? Social life, what would you change? Your health, your working habits, attitude, time management, business associates, leadership abilities, what would you change?
Right? That's the change. And then it says what? Then change them.
Don't think about it no more. We're not pondering. We're not asking hypothetical situations. It's doing at once what needs to be done.
This is the difference between people that are using their time effectively in 24 hours and people who are not. You can make decisions. Make a decision and stick to it. Listen, I'm going to do my videos on why you need to, you know, how having your own business can save you from retirement, from the retirement graveyard.
And you go out there, Cheryl, and you speak your truth. If it's that serious that the job is going to fire you because you are talking about something that's not, you're not smearing their name, you're not, you know, demoralizing them, you're not even talking about them. How would this, if y'all going to fire me because I'm speaking my truth, then so be it. But you got to let that go.
If this is what you want to do, and if you don't really want to do it, then don't risk that. Don't risk that. But, am I willing? Am I willing?
This is the only question of any real importance that requires an answer. This is the only question. Am I willing? Are you willing to make a sizable investment in yourself?
What's the answer? Are you willing to go where you have to go? Are you willing to do what you have to do? Are you willing to change what you have to change?
Are you willing to let go of what has to go? Are you willing to move where you have to move? Are you willing to study what must be studied? Are you willing to take direction when it is required?
Are you willing to commit yourself 100% to living the way you choose to live? Are you willing to possibly even receive ridicule, humiliation, and rejection as part of the price to win? See, so, humiliation, ridicule, and rejection, that was the issue that I had to struggle with. I didn't want to be humiliated.
I didn't want to look like I had failed. I wasn't really willing to do that yet. But when I did that, it was, whoo, the way off, and what could happen? You can soar.
Terrance, same thing. Are you willing? Absolutely. Are you willing to create your bank accounts and trust that you know what to do and that you are not the person in 1990?
Absolutely. Absolutely, sis. Are you willing to allow yourself to receive the income you know you deserve because you have the ability to bless other people, but I keep staring. Absolutely.
My God, you gotta be willing. You gotta be willing. Everybody's already able. Everybody's already able, right?
Able is not really the issue The issue is, are you willing? In other words, are you willing, are you going to accept what you need to do and then do it, or are you going to reject it and go backwards and not do it? For whatever story you tell yourself. Right?
Are you willing? Look, in my notes, I say, yes, I am willing. I am willing to do whatever it takes. Right?
Look. Oh, here's another note it says. If I want to be free, I've got to be me. If I want to be free, I've got to be me.
Not the me your husband wants you to be. Not the me your kids want you to be. Not the me your this, your that, your job. Not the me or any of that.
If you're going to be free, you've got to be you. And you're not being you. So you're not free. You won't be free until you decide that it's okay and it's enough to be you.
And that you will have everything that you need to get what you want to get because you live in a realm of abundance, Cheryl. Don't you? And everything that you need and require to sustain the life and the vision that you see in your head is available to you, isn't it? And whether that job is there or not, Cheryl, you and your son are going to be fine, aren't you?
Okay. So, authority comes from believing in yourself and speaking your truth. You're stifling yourself. You're stifling yourself.
So meditation, prayer on this. We've got to get this out. We've got to uproot this and get it out. It is a program that is not serving you.
You don't need that job. It's comfortable, but you don't need it. You can make way more over here anyway. And work with people that actually, like, we love you.
And we actually encourage you to be greater and better. And you actually have an owner of a company who wants you to speak your truth. Who wants you to be you. Who actually, he's being him in such a way that sometimes it's shocking to us.
Okay. We good, Cheryl? Yes. Everybody good on that?
Yes. Did that help somebody else besides just Cheryl? Yes. Okay.
Focus strategy. Focus on the strategy. We talked about that. Can't chase too much.
Same concept. Pick something and go. Pick something and go. Okay.
Consistency. Consistency comes from you believing in what it is that you are doing. That you believe that you will get the end result that you desire. You are inconsistent when you don't believe that what you're doing is going to give you the end result that you want.
So you start and you stop. You try other things. You're inconsistent. You don't go to the gym every day when you really don't care about the result of what the gym can bring you every day.
It's an idea. It's not a mission. It's not a deliberate thing you have to do. It's you're going because it's okay, but it's not a big deal.
You're making money. It's okay. It's not a big deal. If you are not being consistent, it's because you don't really fully believe.
You have not bought into the vision. So you're kind of like doing a little bit, but then not. Doing it a little bit and then not. It's like, okay, now that I'm a mom, you know, I used to look at other moms and be like, oh my God, all this stuff you got to do with these kids is too much.
But now I'm a mom. I'm like, man, the consistency of every day you got to get up, every day you got to bathe, not every day bathe, but you know, every day you got to change this diaper. Every day you got to put these clothes on. Every day they ripping and running.
Every day my son is opening up the cabinets. Every day he's pulling his Tupperware out. Every day I'm saying get out the garbage. Every day I'm saying don't flush the toilet five times in a row.
Every day I'm saying just watch Super Wife for two seconds. Let me go to the bathroom. Every day I'm saying the same. He's consistently doing the same thing every day and I'm consistently doing the same thing every day.
Right? It's staying power. But I just know he's not going to be one forever. Eventually we will get out of this phase and then he will be doing much worse things.
Right? Until I get to like maybe four or five and then whatever else, right? I don't know. But look, as a mom I got to be consistent.
I can't just decide, I don't feel like being a mom today. Look, I don't know how you going to get your milk. I don't know how you going to get your bath. But I think you need to figure that out.
I'm getting ready to go over here today and I'll talk to you tomorrow. That's not an option, is it? But that is not an option in your business either. It's not an option in your business either.
Why are you treating your business? I'm not saying your business is a child, but I'm saying that you shouldn't be treating it like it's just this thing that doesn't like it's not the thing that can give you the lifestyle that you want. It's the thing that most certainly can. It's the thing that most certainly can.
You got to be consistent with it. So in other words, you prioritize being a parent, but you've deprioritized running your business. Because you believe that being a parent is something that you have to do and there will be a turning point, right? Eventually there'll be this day's graduation and your kids are going to love you and oh mom thank you so much and all this great stuff.
You see that in your head whether they do it or not, right? Desmond, you're a dad. Carson, you're a dad. Same thing.
You see this in your head. It's great. It's dandy. But in your business, if you don't see yourself getting on stage winning, then you will stop.
You see the end roll with the kids, but you don't see the end roll with the business. So business can you can take it or leave it. So when you're consistent with when you believe in a strategy, you're consistent with it. You just are.
I think that's a mindset thing. I don't know. I'm not the person that can train you on tactically how to be consistent. I'm just the person that's saying I don't think that you have to worry about being consistent if you're walking in alignment with something.
That's what I'm saying. If you're not being consistent, the question you should ask yourself is wait a minute. Something's off. I'm not in alignment here.
Why am I not staying true to this? Why am I shaking? Why am I in it sometimes, out of it other times? Why am I not being consistent?
What about this is causing me to not be 100% bought into it? What is it? Yes. What if you'd like to be really consistent, but I have another business and it's a startup and startups are really hard.
So I'm kind of fighting between the demands of that new business and doing this on the side. So it's like I want to be consistent, but I'm finding that the other job is kind of robbing of my time. So then again it comes down to prioritizing. You've got to prioritize, but then now we're talking about resource.
You've got to be resourceful. So now what part of this business or that business can you outsource where you don't have to take on the responsibility of every single task and duty? You can't do it all. Your brain can only hold so much.
So now you have to identify okay, well great. I'm running two enterprises now. Fine. And I'm equally committed.
So you're thinking I'm not not committed to one and I'm just only committed to the other. I'm committed to both. I have a vision on both, but you're one human being or two human beings. I've got 40 things to do over here and I've got 40 things to do over here.
I can't do it in 24 hour time. You've got to outsource stuff. I'm trying to converge the vision because the business I'm doing is property maintenance so I can actually still use Empower Network because I need to build a brand and market online. Okay.
I'm doing my best to actually make it converge. I'm trying to create a blogging culture in my company for my marketers. Okay. So people that want to do direct sales.
If you don't want to do direct sales, fine. So let me ask you this. Can't you hire somebody to be around you, learn about your property management business and blog on your behalf? Under your direction, of course, because you wanted to say and feel a certain type of way, but couldn't you do that?
That's the system I'm looking to create. I'm just being too stretched out right now. I'm trying to even it out. I think outsourcing is a great idea.
I mean, when you've got stuff like that going on, you have to. You can't do it all. I can't be here and be mommy at the same time. I got to outsource some of that.
So I got the nanny. I got to. Right? I got to.
I can't be here and impact lives here and simultaneously be 100% focused on Josiah. I can't. Something has to give for now. I'm outsourcing that part because I can't outsource this part.
I can't outsource this part. I have to be here for this part. Then when I get done with this part, I can go back to that part. Right?
So we're outsourcing all the time. So you guys got to do that.

The seventh one is... Oh, how many did I say?
Email. Oh. Desmond just texted. Oh. I got a notification.
Let me go see. Carlton uploaded a picture. Oh. Let me see what Carlton's picture was. Oh.
Oh. Such and such invited you to this game. Oh, let me go ahead and disable this notification. I don't like that game. I don't want to be on that game.
Oh. Cheryl just asked a question. Right? You don't have to do everything like Johnny on the spot.
I can't let somebody else's urgency become now my emergency. You understand what I'm saying? You can't be that hungry or thirsty for the sale that you get all off of your routine and your regimen because you gotta close this sale. If it's the right person, you're gonna be able to answer the email when you get to that part of your day, and it's gonna be just fine. That's the discipline of it. Does that help? Adding value to prospects. Okay. If adding value to prospects, instructions is adding value to yourself. We talked about this, okay? So if you're reading, like we say, reading daily, listen to audio daily, you're doing this type of stuff, you're gonna add value to your prospects. You know why? Because the people that's just like you want to take part in the things that you're sharing with them. They just, there is no conscious thing that you would even have to do if you would just focus. Listen.
Do it again from this, from the side that believes in you. Do it again, from the standpoint that says, you know what, I know I can help you. Do it from the standpoint that says, listen, if you want to get out of this job, you better listen up and you may listen up fast.
The bottom line is that if you don't start putting some things in place now for you to start living your dreams, you're never gonna live your dreams. You're never gonna do it because you've already been doing this for 15 years. And how close are you to your dreams? Now?
You're not any closer if you keep doing the same things you've been doing the last five years. There's a clear indication that over the next five years, you're gonna be the same exact place. But you got to speak with power and passion about what is it you're talking about? Because you care about the people, you feel for the people if you do. So do it again, but do it from that posture.
You with me? You can do it again. But do it in that posture. You can do something from a weak posture and it not work, and you do the same thing again from a strong posture and it go like gangbusters. Yes? Are you going to do that? Yes. Okay, when are you going to do that? Tonight. Perfect, wonderful, love that. Okay, so are we clear on adding value? Okay, authority, are we clear on that, Cheryl, or we need to tap into that some more? Everybody clear on authority? Okay. You sure, Cheryl? Yes. And speaking with confidence and just being more sure. So you feel like you speak with uncertainty? Yeah. Why? I don't know. Are you uncertain? I mean, not when I'm conversating with myself, not necessarily. When I have a one-on-one conversation, right, and that we were talking about that, right, I feel like we have the best conversation. That's like in front of the camera. Okay, so what's happening is external circumstances are affecting the way that you perform. For example, there's a camera, cameraing me, there's a camera filming right now. I see the camera, I see the lights, I see the man behind the camera, I see this guy over here, I see everything that's going on around here. But I am so engaged with Cheryl right now that has no bearing on what me and you are talking about. Now, again, I'm not saying that you're going to instantly snap your fingers and you don't see them. What I'm saying is that you've got to focus. See, focus is not just about your eyes. Everybody know that. Focus is really about where you are directing your attention and your energy. You cannot focus on two things at the same time. You can be aiming in the direction of two things at the same time, but you can't focus clear on the two things. You can't chase two rabbits and expect to catch one. You can't. You got to choose. If the rabbits are running and the rabbits go this way, you can't chase them both and expect to catch one. You got to choose which one you're going to go after and go that direction.
So this is what I'm saying.
Yeah. But you can't. Listen, one step at a time.
It doesn't mean that they don't invest in other stuff.
Maybe. Right? Possibly. But then that's a myth all over again.
Okay. Also...
There's another one? No, ma'am.
Probably the corporate mindset, but I have to kind of be careful about what I say because my job, you know... So, you're scared of the people... Wait a minute. I'm going to hit a button for a second. The very people that you want to get away from have instilled so much fear in you that you will not speak your truth because they might say something, do something, have some type of negative repercussion on you.
The only thing they could do is fire you. And if they fired you, then you just... What would you lose? The check. That's all that could happen.
You wouldn't die. So, really, you're afraid of them to stop paying you if you were to speak your truth. Is that not... I mean, if we boiled it down.
But if you jump off, you've got to have more control.
At what point are you so serious and passionate about what you're talking about that you're willing to risk it, at least? Doing at once what needs to be done ensures the possibility of success.
Do you see how this keeps playing into? This is where it applies. It's not just a quote.
You know what you need to be doing.
But how does...
Wait, but, but. But how do I save it? And so now, I'm taking everything I got, trying to throw it at this, right? Okay, every little dime I got, I'm throwing in this pit, the money pit. Why?
So why would I do that? Because I want to keep up this image that I hadn't failed? So you, the image of me, is that I'm doing well. But my character is suffering from this, isn't it? Because image is who you think I am, but character is who I really believe I am.
So I was sacrificing my character for image. I let go of the brick and mortar. I said, you know what? Forget what people got to think about the house. The house is the house.
I'm sorry. I'm not going to keep doing this. I've got... I do better wiping the slate clean and starting all over than trying to manage all these moving pieces at the same time. I do better saying forget everybody.
I'm going to file bankruptcy twice. I'm going to foreclose on this house. I need my cars, though. So I'm going to keep hiding them. I need my cars.
I've got to get where I've got to get to. What's the worst that could happen? Nothing. And I'm going to jail because of it?
So the exercise is, you have to go through all these things and say what you're going to change about each of those areas and by when.
If it's that serious that the job is going to fire you because you are talking about something that's not, you're not smearing their name, you're not, you know, demoralizing them, you're not even talking about them, how would this... If y'all going to fire me because I'm speaking my truth, then so be it.
Are you willing to allow yourself to receive the income you know you deserve because you have the ability to bless other people, but I keep staring? Absolutely. My God, you gotta be willing. You gotta be willing.
Everybody's already able. Everybody's already able, right? Able is not really the issue. The issue is, are you willing? In other words, are you willing, are you going to accept what you need to do and then do it, or are you going to reject it and go backwards and not do it? For whatever story you tell yourself.
Right? Are you willing? Look, in my notes, I say, yes, I am willing. I am willing to do whatever it takes. Right?
Look. Oh, here's another note it says. If I want to be free, I've got to be me.
You're going because it's okay, but it's not a big deal.
You're making money. It's okay. It's not a big deal. If you are not being consistent, it's because you don't really fully believe. You have not bought into the vision.
So you're kind of like doing a little bit, but then not.
Why are you treating your business... I'm not saying your business is a child, but I'm saying that you shouldn't be treating it like it's not the thing that can give you the lifestyle that you want.
So business, you can take it or leave it. So when you're consistent with, when you believe in a strategy, you're consistent with it.
You just are. I think that's a mindset thing. I don't know. I'm not the person that can train you on tactically how to be consistent. I'm just the person that's saying I don't think that you have to worry about being consistent if you're walking in alignment with something.
That's what I'm saying. If you're not being consistent, the question you should ask yourself is: wait a minute, something's off, I'm not in alignment here. Why am I not staying true to this?
Why am I shaking? Why am I in it sometimes, out of it other times? Why am I not being consistent? What about this is causing me to not be 100% bought into it? What is it?
Yes. What if you'd like to be really consistent, but I have another business and it's a startup and startups are really hard? So I'm kind of fighting between the demands of that new business and doing this on the side. So it's like I want to be consistent, but I'm finding that the other job is kind of robbing of my time. So then again it comes down to prioritizing.
You've got to prioritize, but then now we're talking about resource. You've got to be resourceful. So now what part of this business or that business can you outsource where you don't have to take on the responsibility of every single task and duty? You can't do it all. Your brain can only hold so much.
So now you have to identify, okay, well great, I'm running two enterprises now, fine. And I'm equally committed. So you're thinking I'm not committed to one and I'm just only committed to the other.
I'm committed to both. I have a vision on both, but you're one human being, or two human beings.
I have to be here for this part. Then when I get done with this part, I can go back to that part. Right?
So we're outsourcing all the time. So you guys got to do that.
