Nathan Buchan’s Facebook Hustle: Turning Fan Page Likes Into Real Conversations
You’re paying for Facebook ads. People are clicking, some of them are even liking your page. And then nothing. The likes just sit there, a number that goes up on a dashboard while your bank account doesn’t move. You start to wonder if Facebook traffic even converts, or if everyone talking about it online is lying to you.
As someone already spending real money to get in front of people on Facebook, you already know that particular kind of frustration. Nathan Buchan hit a version of it early on too, except his block wasn’t traffic. It was his own head. When he started, his goal was modest on purpose: as he puts it, “When I first started, my goal was to earn $2,000 a month to replace my income as a plumber.” He’d quit a completed plumbing apprenticeship in New Zealand to travel and run the business full time, and that number became a ceiling he couldn’t seem to get past, not because the tactics didn’t work, but because he’d unconsciously built his entire spending plan around it. It took him a long stretch to cross it. Once he did, hitting his first big day working from a laptop between surf sessions, the growth stopped being linear. He’s since traveled through Panama, Italy, and Costa Rica running the same system from his phone and a hostel Wi-Fi connection.
Why do Facebook likes never turn into real relationships or sales?
Nathan’s answer is blunt: most people run their personal Facebook page and their business fan page like two different people. The fan page is polished, full of inspiration and lifestyle photos. The personal page complains about a parking ticket. Anyone who follows both notices the mismatch immediately, and that gap is exactly what makes a stranger stop trusting you. His fix is to run both with the same core message, the same brand, the same values, so there’s no seam for a lead to notice. He treats Facebook as his actual office, not a place he happens to also post business content.
He shows this by tracking one post over a year: a photo from a coffee trip in Bali that got two likes when his page was brand new, next to almost the identical photo and message a year later that pulled around a hundred. Same brand, same voice, same story he’d been telling from day one. What changed wasn’t the content. It was consistency and the audience he’d built by staying on message the whole time.
What’s the actual mechanic behind the daily hustle?
Here’s the part that’s genuinely mechanical, not just mindset talk. After Miami, Nathan built a daily routine to grow his friend list without getting flagged by Facebook. He listed his page as his employer on his personal profile, so anyone glancing at his profile would see the connection between the two. Then he sent friend requests to people who’d already liked his fan page, capped deliberately low at no more than five a day, spaced roughly thirty minutes apart using a simple timer, because pushing more than that in a burst gets accounts flagged and blocked. Every couple of days he’d go back through his sent requests and clear out anything still pending, since a wall of unanswered requests looks exactly as bad as it sounds.
- Send new friend requests only to people who already liked your page, never cold strangers.
- Cap it at five a day, spaced apart, to stay under Facebook’s radar for spam behavior.
- Clear out unanswered pending requests every few days instead of letting them pile up.
- Message only after someone accepts, never before, since a request sent alongside a message often lands in a folder they’ll never open.
He ran this consistently in the stretch between two masterminds, Miami and New Orleans, and grew his active team from four people to fifty-six in that window. That’s the volume this mechanic is built to produce, not overnight, but on a short, repeatable cycle.
How do you message a lead without sounding like you’re selling?
Once someone accepts, Nathan’s opening message is almost aggressively casual. His own script, word for word: “hey, I noticed you like my Lifestylepreneur page, so I thought I’d shoot you a friend request and say hey.” No pitch, no opportunity link, no exclamation marks stacked three deep. He deliberately matches tone to the person on the other end, talking to people his own age the way he’d talk to a mate, and shifting to a more formal register for an older contact, because a script that fits a twenty-something surfer reads as unprofessional to someone twice his age.
From there he lets the conversation go wherever it goes, sometimes for weeks, before dropping anything related to the business, and even then only if the conversation naturally opens the door. He shared a short PDF explaining what a sales funnel is with one contact who’d been talking with him about travel and CrossFit for over a week, and only after that contact asked what he actually did for a living.
I’m not trying to force sell him. If he doesn’t buy anything, I’m not worried. I’m just kind of showing him what’s possible.
That patience is the actual mechanism, not a personality trait. He explicitly leaves the decision in the other person’s court every single time, closing a message by inviting a reply whenever they feel like it instead of pushing to book a call. People sense the difference between being sold and being shown, and they act very differently toward each one.
What happens after someone finally says yes?
The follow-through matters as much as the outreach. Nathan connects with new signups within twenty-four hours, assigns a small first task, usually watching the first handful of training videos, and resists the urge to answer every question himself. Early on he over-helped a handful of people personally and watched them stall out anyway, because he’d trained them to wait on him instead of doing the work. Now he points people back to the training and only steps back in once they’ve actually done something, then welcomes them into the wider team so the group’s own energy, not his, carries the new person forward.
Nathan walks through the full messaging scripts, screenshots of real conversations, and the exact Facebook settings behind all of this in the complete session. Create your free account at empowernetwork.com/watch to watch the full video and download the audio.

Nathan really does deserve an introduction because we we met Nathan how many years ago Nathan was it three four years ago two years ago two two years ago we were working in another company and it was just this young guy kind of Ferrari on ice kind of did it didn't really do as much as he wanted he was there and he'll tell you more but Nathan committed to something and commitment is everything you know Sarita's talking about her why but Nathan committed and I saw it in his eyes when he actually did commit and he'll share with you how Brian actually encouraged him to be committed but he did commit to it and once Nathan committed he didn't stop it's all about that commitment and Nathan is our number one in Turner income earner in the tribe and he deserves it because he works really hard he plays really hard and he knows exactly what he's talking about so I'm like you better get your ass moving yeah testing one two testing one two good wow though what a morning how powerful eh crazy right meeting some of the stories I love how everyone you know everybody has their own why and their own purpose to being here I think we've all found out and really discovered exactly what that is you know we all come from different backgrounds with such different people but um you know we all have our own reasons for being here and I think this morning we've really just tightened that and really found our message haven't we you know you all know why you're here what you want what your desire is to you know to take you forward and doing this because when you walk away from this a lot of you will be on your own again you won't be surrounded by 50 however many people are out here to have you you know to answer questions instantly you'll be back by yourself and that's why it is so important and that's why we spend all morning going through these personal development you know trainings and things in the beginning because it really does just set those values you know you know you know you know you know you know you know you know you know you know what to do what to do at the beginning and then the result hitting you and you Where are you at?
Where on the opportunities in there it just locks them in and you know you understanding exactly what you should be doing and your why on your purpose so that when you are by yourself and you're wondering are and we're doing things right should I even be doing this is it's gonna work you're pulling your hair out because you don't know whether you're going to drop or if you can if you can even make it through then you you understand those core values that are driving here and I think this and your why, and you're not going to give up no matter what.
One, two, three. Nice, I like it, I like it, cheers. Alright, so, how are you feeling? Everyone stand up for a second, just a second.
Alright, and just bounce on the spot like this. Now, as you know, I've been travelling, so just bounce quietly if you can. I've been travelling quite a bit. If you haven't seen Abnormal Fitness, there's a little plug for Abnormal Fitness.
You can really work out wherever you are. This one just warms up all the muscles, it gets the blood flying a bit, so it should raise the energy a little bit before we get into some solid marketing, because today, I think we've got the mindset down, we know our values. This afternoon, me and Jabril are going to get stuck right into marketing and uncover what this business really needs. So sit down, you're good.
There you go. Blood pumping a bit now? Feeling abnormal? Okay, so, today, my name is Nathan Buchan.
I'm not going to talk about myself for too long. I really want to dig deep on what has given me so much success, because I've learned how to communicate with people in such a way that I connect with them on a mutual level, and it's really helped my business in the past six months. I started, I just crossed the year mark one year, and I've been doing this for a long time, and I've been doing this for a long time, and I've been travelling for ten months. You know, I have to really give a shout out to Brian and Rhonda.
They really took me under their wing. Even though they didn't know who this crazy, kiwi, young, shy guy was turning up to Miami in January, they didn't know who to expect when I was to turn up on their doorstep, and thankfully, they took me in with open arms, and we kind of connected, and you guys have really, absolutely changed my life. No doubt. So, thank you guys.
I love you both. You're like family now. It's amazing. So, anyway, my name is Nathan Buchan.
I'm from Mount Maunganui, New Zealand. I'm a plumber by trade. I've finished my plumbing apprenticeship, so I am a qualified plumber. I finished my apprenticeship before I took off, so I'm a qualified plumber, right?
It's always good to have a trade behind you. Have you heard that one before? You would have, right? It's always good to have a trade behind you.
That's what my dad always said, so I've got a trade behind me. My biggest passions are surfing. Biggest passions are surfing and travel. You all know that I love surfing.
I love surfing and I love travelling, right? And, yes, the internet has changed my life. I don't, yeah, I mean, I don't want to talk about myself for too long, but you all know that if you keep an open mind and you're willing to put one foot in front of another, that this can be absolutely life-changing for you. There is a lot of information out there.
The internet is a huge place. Things are always changing, but if you can keep your mind focused on one path and you understand what it is you need to do, the sky's the limit. It really is. There's no limit to how much you can make here.
My biggest problem was the thoughts in my head. When I first started, my goal was to earn $2,000 a month to replace my income as a plumber. And the other week, it was the week that I went to Oktoberfest. I drank for like three days straight.
Before that, we were touring around Italy, eating pizza and things, and I was using internet off my phone and made $10,000 in a week. Well, $9,000. It didn't quite cost $10,000 in a week. And the biggest block to that, that's amazing, right?
I couldn't be happier. And the biggest block for me to get there was my original goal was $2,000 a month. It took me a long time to cross. It took me a long time to get a first all-in.
Remember that? It took me a long time to cross $2,000 in a month because it was my block. It was what I was used to. And that's kind of what I was living by.
I was thinking, okay, if I make $2,000, how much am I allowed to spend on accommodation while I travel? How much should I be spending on food and different things? And I was living like I was still living it back then. I was living in New Zealand at $2,000 a month.
And it really, it was a big struggle for me. And this is after I went to Miami. So I sold a lot of things. I made a lot of stuff happen to get to Miami from New Zealand.
And I hadn't had a lot of results then. But I knew I was going to come to this event, give it everything I got, and apply what was taught to me. And I did. But it still took me because I had a block in my head of $2,000 a month.
It took me a lot to get through that. But after, when I had that first $3,000 a day, I remember it because I went surfing that morning with Brian. We scored amazing waves in the morning. We're having a laugh and I log into my emails.
I run across the road because they were staying just across the road from me. And I run across the road, right? I'm like, yeah! They instantly knew what happened at like 8 o'clock in the morning because we wake up early, right?
So 8 o'clock in the morning, I wake Rhonda up like, yeah! And she just starts jumping because she knows that I've, you know, cracked my first all in. I'm just like, yeah! So, but, and from, from there it kind of, you know, it snowballs.
And a lot of the personal development comes down to it because when, you know, you start thinking thoughts and you're like, ah, okay, I can do $3,000 and maybe I can do, maybe I can do $2,000 and maybe I can do $6,000, you know, and it just keeps going and snowballing very quickly. So, that's, yeah, I don't want to bore you with my story or anything but that's basically it. You all know why you're here. Just make sure that when you go home and you're by yourself that you're really focused and that you have your own drive because it really comes down to inside here, not anyone else.
If you guys don't produce, to be honest, it's not going to affect the world, the whole globe. But if you do produce, you probably could affect the whole globe if you produce big enough, you know? Okay, so today, anyway, I'm going to talk about turning leads into sales. Now, you know, you've learned how to drive traffic to your, drive traffic through YouTube from John and soon, Jabril is going to take you through how to create Facebook ads.
We're going to talk about, we've been setting up our funnels all week. So by the end of this week, you should have your funnels set up, the three-step system from your capture page, your bridge video into your opportunity. And what we're going to do now is talk about driving. Once you have traffic, you have leads, you have people liking your page through Facebook stories because this is what we're going to get into is Facebook stories.
You all have a story to tell no matter who you are. You're going to drive traffic from Facebook, a fan page. We've all talked about your brand. You all know this, right?
So you all have your brand. You all have your brand. You all have your brand. We're all going to advertise stories on Facebook and we're going to lead them to the capture page through the funnel that way.
But in driving traffic, once we get leads, we need to maximise. You guys are paying for marketing to do Facebook ads. You have to pay for it. Now there's a few things I've done when I was in Panama to really maximise the amount of sales I got per lead because I didn't have much money.
I remember I was counting pennies wondering whether it was going to work and it really came down to communication. The way I talk to people the way I post it on my page everything you do on Facebook counts. Everything. On your personal page and your fan page.
If you've got a nice fan page talking about how much you love the world how much the law of attraction has helped you the great quotes and everything inspiring and then on your personal page you talk about how you got a parking ticket today and it sucked. Someone is going to see that. They will see and they will understand it. Well, who is this person?
So if you look at my pages you will notice that my personal page and my fan page they integrate they have the same core message. I treat Facebook as my business. People treat Facebook as a place to just play around which it is it's social media but I treat it as my business because that's what I do. So today I'm really going to dig into maximising these dollars that you spend on marketing because people are going to like your page they're going to see who you are and start following you.
A lot of people here they follow you for at least a month before they decide to go all in. Isn't that right Brian? They follow you for a long time before they actually decide to you know say go all in build relationships. So a lot of you that I'm closest to and that I know and they were good friends now they stuck around they looked they started researching they wanted to you need to grow on these people.
You need people to be like oh okay this guy is legit. He's consistent. He knows what he's talking about. He's doing this day in and day out.
He's not joking. He's not trying to make a quick buck or anything and the key is he's not trying to is through our stories we we talk about ourself we touch these points we're going to go into creating stories later. So just keep in mind we're going to do that later but we once you have a lead they know if they are a lead they know that you are selling them something because most of them have seen your opportunity they've come through they like your page or they're a lead. So from there it's important to create value.
You don't need after that you can go either way about it. I'm just talking about what I do by the way. So you people market in many different ways attraction marketing is what I learnt so this is what I've this is my thinking. So I'm just sharing with you what goes on in my head through my business.
So people know and they understand that okay you have you have an opportunity behind you. So from there on I don't see the point in blasting them consistently with come and join me come and buy this come and grab that because basically I'm not trying to make a quick buck I want to live a great lifestyle and through attraction marketing that's the way we do it. So because I know that my leads understand who I am understand what I'm doing I know that by just giving value as in doing cool things or doing things that I like and my leads will like it would just create good value to them and by that then you start getting followers that actually like your stuff even if they don't buy later on you you create these relationships with people that you never would create otherwise and you don't scare people off.
You know you create a cool fan page you have a good following and everything's great about that business it's not you're not trying to push anything onto anyone it's it's it's easy and it becomes exciting to do it's not like oh no I'm trying to sell you no it's like here this is what's happened to me the option is open if you want it if you don't no worries okay so let's have a look your page with your page you want to find your style and your brand now that kind of sums it up in a good photo because it's like I was a plumber dealing with this crap now I'm diving and then you want to be yourself you want to be yourself you want to stay consistent with your brand you want to yeah I'll show you in just a second but you want to keep your core values the same so you should understand and know what your brand is about just you're all creating a brand you're creating a tagline for your brand so you should know the values and what you like I like travelling I like surfing when I started remember I wasn't travelling or surfing I was plumbing but I was into personal development so that's another that's another core part of my brand personal development and so I would always just post about experiences that I did have or experiences that I want to have like I would love the idea to to travel the world and surf the world's best waves you know this is an opportunity that I've found to you know that could do this for me things like that now this here's an example okay I done this in September 25th 2013 this is just when I started and I created my fan page and I'm like okay lifestylepreneur that's who I am I want to travel the world surf make money online if I can it's this is what I want to do I'd just come back from a trip in Bali and I used to save up quite a long time to go surfing in Bali and or to go on surf trips and do different things I just came back from a trip in Bali so I thought okay I'm going to share my pictures I got the experience should be I had but I got the experience of roasting coffee beans in Bali I'm not sure how many coffee lovers there are out here but I can tell you the Roma was amazing lifestylepreneur got two likes on that it's nice right lifestylepreneur my page September 25th and then we go like this and it's September 25th this year one year later right I don't mind travelling solo but sometimes epic views are better shared with mates I looked through this the other day and I thought wow that is very very similar to one year ago when I first posted that was like one of my first posts right so I found the message that I wanted from the beginning a year later I'm doing the same thing there's Jabril looking at me I'm doing a little pose and it's like but then and then this is key right okay but that so that's amazing right one year later same message just think about that one year later same message same idea except now I'm travelling like I didn't have that experience I am having the experience see what I mean same thing and now I'm hashtagging like so inspired dream bigger good times notice those little puns there people will read those and be like so inspired so it takes away from the yo I'm living it up it's like no this is really inspiring because it's like I'm actually living this like this is I'm inspired now by looking at this view it like gives me more inspiration to keep going forward all the little subtle things that you do when you post on Facebook make a huge difference and they all come down to who this cool person is that you are your cool brand and all every little thing you do matters right now I got like a hundred likes instead of two and giving value so once again everything on your page counts you know Rhonda can't drive in branding enough your brand is so important like you notice that everything I've done I said I found my brand in the beginning one year later right now I'm posting the same thing your brand is so key there's a reason why she's like branding branding branding branding look at the shirts you guys are wearing they all say what yeah it's so key and that's what you created is branding is like a very core base of your business right so I found it now giving value okay everything you do counts create interaction on your page this is what I've done here I started this I cut off half of this post but I said something about I never used to be able to sleep on planes and trains because I couldn't but now I found myself knocking like falling asleep everywhere because I'm either working or travelling non-stop so if I'm not travelling I'm working and when I'm sitting somewhere like on the train I would just knock out like that which I never used to be able to do it's a skill that Jabril and Fuad are very good at but I've only recently just mastered that one so as you know I run an online business which does not take much of my time because I have systems in place but I'm always pushing to go bigger if I'm not exploring I'm working I have a great desire to be successful and live an extraordinary life I know the results I have will be directly proportionate to the effort I put in so now I'm writing in the way that I'm just having thoughts with myself I'm not trying to tell anyone to do anything I'm just writing about kind of what I believe in and what I think I will get out of my own results often for getting to sleep this leads to crashing out on the next plane, train or car I step into pick below whenever I do have downtime though my favourite thing to do is listen to audio books I've learned more from books than anything else and the best part about audios is they get read to you it's like a bedtime story it is though, I don't really like reading but audio books are great you just sit there and you've got this movie going on in your mind when you travel be sure to have an audio at the ready some of my favourites right now I'm in need of some new books to be honest I didn't exactly need new books I've got a whole lot but I'm creating interaction on my page right please write your favourite book below and the comments just went vroom and I actually got some great new ideas but you know I know personal development quite well and I've got a heap of books that I haven't read but it's creating interaction on my page now I want people that have found my ads they look at my page they might not be interested in the opportunity that I have they'll give my page a like and then they'll carry on with the rest of their day they'll jump on Facebook on their phones and stuff and it's important for me to create more interaction with them to get more interaction with the audience with these people you need them to interact with you if they go through and they scroll past your fan page and they see a picture on their phone or something and they don't like it you know there's the amount of people that see your posts I don't know what the percentage is now but the amount of fans that you have the people that actually see your posts are quite low but if you have people engaging with your content they will get re-engaged with your content so if I have someone commenting on my page my photo next time I post something they will see it because Facebook says oh these guys like that page this user likes that page I will show the next thing he posts because you've engaged with it so getting engagement on your page is quite key I try and I don't do it all the time but it's like you want to do something that engages people and it really does increase the amount of interaction you get on your page and people actually viewing your stuff because you have your fan page you have your personal page a lot more people see your personal stuff because Facebook is like it's a social media platform to connect people not to connect exactly connect businesses so you can understand why they do that right now things to remember people know you are selling something yeah people know you are selling something after seeing your story so be cool after that now you look through my page and you will see that I don't do a hang of a lot join me buy this grab that you know I've got this quick deal for you that you can have everything at once for half the price I don't say anything like that I basically just share what I'm up to and I try to maintain my brand which is you know I just want to have fun and travel around a lot and basically do cool stuff give people value value in creating posts that like value as in interacting with people giving them ideas for audio books you know personal development people love personal development you all like personal development there might be a few of you but I'm pretty sure everyone here likes personal development doing writing a good inspirational post with like a technique or something that they can apply is giving value sharing something about value I don't mean okay I'm in Rome and I talk about the history of Rome and where this emperor came from and everything like that I don't need to educate people right I'm connecting with the people that are like me my clients are people like me so what I did is I posted a picture of Rome and I'm like I'm in Rome I'm not going to lie I don't really know anything about history but after spending a few days walking around the city I'm really impressed by the architecture here and what has gone into it or something of that matter like I don't try to lie I don't google all the facts about Rome and this building that I'm sharing a photo of no I'm like okay I'm not going to lie I dropped out of school I don't really I didn't listen in history I just really did appreciate that the buildings here are amazing to look at do I know a whole lot about it?
no do I go through museums and find them kind of boring? yes but it's me right like I'm sorry like a lot of people go but it's it's the me too boring yes but but it's it's the people that I'm relating to you see I'm trying to connect with people that are just like me and you know I can't see see Swano connected with me we're quite alike and I can't see Swano walking through a lot of museums finding them really exciting for very long can I? yeah and so now this is the other thing right why did I get started? I found Brian and Rhonda because they're living this amazing lifestyle that while I was plumbing I thought man what if if only if only it was a possibility I was working 45 hours a week 50 hours a week just kind of a normal job physical but didn't exactly enjoy it got into personal development wanted to live the life they were living as soon as I found them hooked didn't really buy anything off of them for a long time didn't really do anything for a long time but I was hooked followed them everywhere like yeah crazy like watched his videos he's standing at Puerto Escondido I'm going I wish and then yeah later I'm standing there with him just you know vision vision you can have this happen to you too now but the message here is create the desire in others that you had before you got started they are on your page for the same reason you are on your sponsors okay I have people start with me now and then the next day I see them talking about hey if you want to make a quick extra 500 bucks send me an instant message and I'll sort you out you know but it's they don't understand it Rio that Rhonda was talking about before he understood it we said share your story share what you believe and share your values so we did he walked away and he goes okay that same day he turned around and he wrote something it wasn't even that long and he just wrote okay I love to travel me and my family we love you know this is if you've wondered you know what we've been up to or actually you know diving into this online business and we're doing this on the site as well like he doesn't create he doesn't draw too much attention to it but it raises enough curiosity to get everyone interested and that's attraction marketing and he instantly put that into place he told a story he shared what he's about and instantly got sales in 24 hours from getting started and I was like yes he gets it he got it straight away for some people it takes a little bit longer but if you can get the psychology that goes in behind it and the way that you connect and relate to people you have to do it on a mutual level and really connect with people if you don't you'll lose them it's a disconnect people don't want to start an online business like do you want to start if you asked me a year ago do I want to start an online business no not really do you want to travel around the world go surfing and basically live the life of your dreams maybe you could you know become an entrepreneur and you know hold talks in front of 50 odd people maybe but I don't think that's really possible well yeah it is if you only just you know have an open mind yeah I've got an open mind do you see what I'm getting at did that make sense like there's a barrier I don't want to start a business but you want to live this awesome lifestyle yeah I want to live that lifestyle you know so it makes sense though so people are on your page for a reason they're on your page for the same reason that you're on someone else's if they stick around they like your page you've created enough desire in them to click like on your page or to become a lead so in doing that they are going to stick around and want to follow you now if you build on the same message you're going to create more trust more like more know like and trust over the next month that they're going to either want to start with you or they're going to want to create a relationship with you or something or you go into their town if you're travelling and you get messages from 10 people saying yo you're here can we catch up for a coffee and you will and you go meet some cool people like this happens right so it's not all about making money you know it's not it's about putting out desire and capturing the desire you want so it's not about just doing this to sell like what is it that you guys are in this for make sure you start walking towards that yourself while you're trying to bring other people in on that idea as well make sure you start doing a little bit of work I'm not saying quit your jobs and jump and fly to the other side of the world like it's not I'm not recommending do that but I'm just saying as long as you're moving forward to where you want to go in one way or another then you're creating good value and you're bringing in more you know you're creating more value for your brand and you're living your brand you know and from there you'll just expand it will expand you'll grow you'll be able to eventually travel around the world non-stop you will if you just keep consistent with that brand and people want to see people make sure that when I'm a little stuck on this sometimes too but make sure when people comment on your on your posts and things you write back people send you a message you write back if I write a post you know shoot me a message if I'm in your area you never know let's catch up and go for a wave and I say that to surfers you know because I know surfers are following me and then you'll get messages and you just reply to messages make sure that you're on top of that when you have when you're driving traffic to your page you'll have a lot of page likes you'll have a lot of interaction going on your pages personal and fan pages so just make sure that you keep up with the interaction and it's easy make sure you just always have data on your phone when you're travelling for those of you that want to travel and just constantly look at Rhonda she's doing it right now Hi Hey How are you?
Good So personal versus business page what do you concentrate on your personal page versus business page because what I find is that on my business page people do want to know that real personal stuff of what I'm doing you know my lifestyle This is a great, great question now this is funny when I got started in the beginning I was living in a house a four bedroom place I was actually renovating it and I you know it's early in the morning when we do calls here at night I would wake up in the morning I'd grab my duvet and I'd shove it under the door and so that no one could hear me because Brian for some reason always wanted to make me talk and so I would have to I'd be sitting here like this on my computer be like yeah I don't know I just like travelling you know I like personal development and I just want to you know if I could only live the life that you're living then yeah that'd be great shut all the windows make sure none of my flatmates heard because I was like I wasn't embarrassed I just didn't know if this thing could work you know as a 23 year old kid you don't want to go out there and try to sell all your family and friends I'm like do I have to sell my family and friends and stuff to make this work then I don't know if it's for me I want to be able to do this the way I want to do it and then so I wanted to make you know I didn't want to show anyone I was a little bit afraid and I didn't want to put it on my personal profile I kept my page very separate you couldn't find that I you know you couldn't find my page for my personal or vice versa right and and I had to get through that it took me a while basically once I took off overseas I was like I'm going for it now you guys might not have the same issues as me you know girl problems I oh sorry I mean teenage boy teenage boy problems because I'm a teenager right no but so you guys you know that was just my own personal issues right I was worried about what other people would think of me and now the greatest asset though it's it's been great connecting the two and making them one so and and you'll notice Brian and Rhonda they always have a lot of friends all the time because and and here's a key okay how many of the leaders within the opportunity that you're in have 5,000 friends on Facebook or a lot of friends on Facebook most of them all of them look people say all of them right how many friends do you have now I don't have 5,000 yet but it's going up and it's going up because I'm connect with people through my advertising and now this is where we actually get into the hustle and now this I call the hustle I do this after after after after Miami so yell out if I'm taking too long and everything okay and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and would like my Facebook page and they wouldn't, you know, I'm paying for marketing, they view my post, they click on my post, they like my page, they click away and they carry on scrolling.
They're not that interested in what I have to offer. But they think, wow, this guy is actually kind of travelling around the world, he's gone, he's starting a business and he's giving it a real go, he doesn't like plumbing, like, because I'm targeting plumbers, okay, we'll talk about storytelling soon. But a lot of people, they're still not interested, you know, people don't want to buy exactly an income opportunity from the get-go. Like I said, a lot of these people that are all in, they're following for a while.
Now, so what I did here, people would like my Facebook page. Sorry, let me see it. People would like my Facebook page and I wanted to make the most of my marketing dollars because I didn't have a lot of money. So this is basically for those people who really have time on their hands and are like, okay, let's make the most of this.
I would send, I called it a hustle because I'd send frameworks. No more than five per day. I did break that rule. But basically we don't want to get banned on Facebook.
I saw that all the leaders have like 5,000 friends. I'm like, I'm getting 5,000. I don't have, I've only got like 1,500 or something now. But still, I'm like, I want, I need more, I need more friends on Facebook.
This is what they're doing, right? And this is, I had blended the Facebook page to fan page. I put works at, Nathan Buchan works at lifestylepreneur. Like on my personal page, I said works at lifestylepreneur.
So I put my page as my job. So it kind of connects the two. Okay. Now, I would send friend requests.
No more than five a day. At least 30 minutes apart from each, I had this free timer so that while I was sitting down, it would go off my computer and I'd send another one. Because if you start pounding friend requests to all the people that are like your page, you instantly get flagged and blocked. So every 30 minutes, I'd wait for that timer, click another friend request and carry on.
And then every few days, I would unfollow ones that didn't accept. Okay, but this is how you add, sorry, this is how you add friends. Okay. So you go through, I'd click on her and add it and then I'd carry on working and then 30 minutes later, the timer would go.
I'd click on, oh, this one. That's right, because she was laughing. I'd click on that and I'd add her and then I'll carry on doing whatever I'm doing. 30 minutes later, woo, and then click on that and add her again, right?
So this is what I call a hustle. And this is when I was, this is when I really wanted to go for it. Now, remember, this is between Miami and New Orleans. I went from like four active members to like 56.
So it works. And then, now here is how you unsend friend requests. Before you look at it, just listen. If you go adding these people, don't do too many, don't do them, make sure they're spaced apart.
Facebook won't like it. Make sure every few days that you go and delete them. Because I get notifications and it was like, oh, these people are really your friends? And you scroll through, it's like pending friend request, pending friend request, pending, because I've added so many people.
So every like two days, go through and delete your pending friend requests, the ones that haven't accepted. To do this, you go, click on where your friends are, right? It goes down. This is the people know new friend request.
You go, see all. That will take you to this page. And then it will say, people you may know, know new friend request. You click on view sent request.
Now, I'll put these slides up so you can have them. But it just says view sent request. That's how you find the request you've sent. You go through and then you just go unsend, unsend, unsend, unsend, unsend.
Puts you back on a mutual level. This sounds really bad the way I'm telling you to do this, right? But if you want to get the job done, you're willing to do what you got to do to get it going, right? Well, do what it takes.
So that's what it took. And now, message after someone has accepted your friend request. After. Don't go and send them a friend request.
It will go to the other's inbox. Those of you that don't know it, you might click on it and find out that you've got a whole lot of message sitting in there. Oh, you didn't know, did you? And you had a lot of messages sitting in this other inbox.
So you want to make sure that you wait until they accept. And it means they want to be your friend as well. Now, after, so you've got, they've accepted your friend request, shoot them a message. If you don't, like nothing will happen.
They might, you know, they might say hi, they might not. But this is what I would say. I would say, hey, I noticed you like my Lifestylepreneur page, so I thought I'd shoot you a friend request and say hey. Notice I like don't really spell everything properly, but remember, you might have, you know, many of you might have had messages from people.
People were saying, hey there, Mr. Robert Vaughan. It is great to connect with such a like-minded individual. I see we share so many core values and it would be great to connect with someone that just, you know, wants to come together on such a mutual level that maybe we can expand and share ideas and take over the world together.
Please shoot me a friend request if you want to connect and we'll be best friends forever, okay? And so you're like, dude, right? Yeah. All right, mate.
Like, you know, you're kind of cool and all, but I mean, I just, I don't know, just don't be so weird about it, all right? You can't argue, you feel sorry for the, for them, you do feel a little bit sorry for them because you're like, man, who told you to say that? Like, oh man, like I want to be a mate, but I just kind of, sorry, right? But okay, so I connect with, I talk the way I'd talk to someone like me.
Hey man, Travis might even know this line. You get that line? Yeah. Hey man, I noticed you liked my last Alpreneur page, so I thought I'd shoot you a friend request and say hey.
That is, that was kind of, I thought about it for a while. Now, I wouldn't recommend someone, I wouldn't recommend someone older do this, talk like this. You talk like this, they'll be like, you're not professional at all, you know? Talk to the people like you talk to them.
This is my brand, these are my people, they're my age. I talk to Swanna like this, you know? I'm not old. Yeah, but he's an old dude, but he's like, dude, you know, you hear the amount of dudes that came out then?
Yeah, exactly, but it's like, well, then again, yeah, so Keith is a great example. Keith would not connect with someone like this. Keith would connect on more of a professional level. Hey, you know, I see that you liked my page.
I just wanted to say hey, and cheers for liking it. I don't really understand how, like, you talk. Sorry, Rhonda, I'll try, like, to be professional here. No, I'm joking.
All I do is joke around that. Okay, no, but honestly, yeah, just make sure that you connect and you're talking, like, to the people that you connect with. Yeah, it's just on a mutual level. Don't try too hard.
You talk with someone. How do you talk to your mates? If you were going to send me a message, whoever you are, okay, don't worry who I am, because all these people that I send messages to are different. I do send it to old people and I'd say sort of the same thing.
I might spell and properly. Like, I might, and I thought I would, you know, I would spell it properly if I see someone more older, I guess, because, you know, you talk to your grandparents different to you talk to your kids, right? And so, but, you know, imagine as if you were going to thank me for liking your page. That's basically what you want to do.
This opens the playing field to create someone that was a page like turn into someone that could potentially lead into something so much greater. And it has shown, proven time and time again. for me that this has worked. Now, yeah, think of who your audience is before writing this.
You want to show them that you're real, no sales, etc. You don't go, you know, hey, I've got this great opportunity. We're like-minded people. Come and connect with me.
Okay, remember, just show them you're real. You're just saying hi, basically. They accepted your friend request. They know who you are.
They like your story enough to like your page and they accept your friend request. They'll be like, hey, man, yeah, I love what you're doing. Love your page. Looks cool.
Notice, I noticed you liked my page. Yeah, cool page. I always get to that. Like, hey, yeah, I like the page, man.
Cool, cheers. End of combo, right. Leave the conversation in their hands. No reply, no worries.
Don't worry if they don't reply. How many friend requests do you send a day? Like five a day. You don't want everyone to reply anyway.
You'll be typing your fingers off like crazy, right. So, and always leave the ball in their court. I might actually talk about it soon. Oh, look, here's some examples, right.
Let's get into this. Now, I haven't really read this yet. So, if it's not a good example, I'm sorry, but there are great examples out there. This is actually a long time.
This is in May. Hey, man, I noticed you like my lifestyle printer page. I thought I'd shoot you a friend request and say, hey. I don't actually have to send friend requests now.
I'm past that level. I get friend requests sent to me all the time. So, this is only a temporary thing. This is to get ahead of the game.
This is the grind. This is the hustle. This is what you do to get ahead. So, I had to go back to find this one, someone that signed up that I think came from that and this guy did.
So, it's like, hey, Nathan, I appreciate the greeting. Awesome page, man. Thanks, man. Glad you like it.
Sometimes the conversation ends there and I hear nothing and then like a month later, I get this, wow, what are you doing? Show me what you're doing. Like a month down the track, you see, because they're watching my page. They get my personal page update.
So, everything I do, they see. And then, I find it quite inspiring that you're 24 and living the life you want. I was only 23 then. I'm cracking myself up now.
I find it quite inspiring that you're 24 and living the life you want. Oh, 23. Cheers, man. So, you got it wrong.
Cheers, man. My life has changed a lot in like the last eight months. That's awesome, man. If you don't mind me asking how so.
I joined a company that teaches you how to make money online. Haha. Thought it was a scam but tried it anyway because I hated my job and it worked so well I decided to quit my job and travel the world. Haha.
And then, but then I said, do you want a CrossFit gym? Like, could have sold him then, right? But do you want a CrossFit gym because he's lifting weights there? And I looked at his profile when he messaged and he looks like he does CrossFit.
He was an owner at the CrossFit gym. And he goes, nice, imagine you're more than happy that you made the decision to do so. That's awesome. I'm a coach for my friend's gym.
Looking to open my own within the next two to three years. I'm stoked, man. Haha. I was plumbing full time eight months ago.
Hate it. Now I'm sitting in Costa Rica. Oh, we're in Costa Rica. Looking at one of the longest point breaks in the world.
Nice, man. That's a good goal to have because he says, I'm a coach. I'm looking to open one of my own in the next two to three years, right? Went from plumbing to being in Costa Rica.
Bro, that's living. Yeah, man. Total life change. I'm off to Panama City in a few days.
They're New Orleans to stay in a mansion. Now this is a little, okay, this is a bit more of a hustle. This is when I'm kind of like pushing a little bit, right? I'm off to Panama City in a few days.
They're New Orleans to stay in a mansion with a whole lot of marketers for a mastermind. They're Mexico for a month or two. Haha. I'm stoked for the mastermind, man.
I'm stoked for the mastermind, man. This is the last one we had in Miami. So cool. Now you know what that video is, eh?
It's the mastermind one in Miami where I'm like, you know, you guys want to win this challenge. Why? Because you'll be featured in that video. Now what do I do?
I send them the link. I sent to the video and I'm like, yeah, check this out, you know, and it's got me a part of that video. You can see the house. You can see the people we're surrounded by.
We all work online together. Like, wow, like that creates interest. And this guy's like living and he's sitting in Costa Rica. He was a plumber.
Like he's building a whole story here and all I'm doing is sending these messages, just kind of joking around, kind of joking, connecting with them on a mutual level. I'm not trying to force sell him. If he doesn't buy anything, I'm not worried. I'm just kind of showing him what's possible.
So he didn't buy anything straight away. Because look, just checked it out. I'm not laughing at things. It's a little bit weird because it's so foreign to him.
That's all right. One of my favorite, we are a little bit stranger, aren't we? One of my favorite powerlifters who I got certified from a couple of months ago actually runs a mastermind as well. Always wanted to go to one.
Cool, man. Maybe you could. And then, okay, and then so what I did, right, is this is my 10th or the 5th. Oh, this is only seven days apart.
Okay. I thought it was more of a gap. This could happen in quite a gap, right? But the conversation ended.
And this is May 18th now. And so I didn't even reply to that. So I could have gone, oh, yeah, cool, man. Like, we host this every three months if you want, you know, just kind of get started with us.
But I wouldn't, probably wouldn't push it that hard either. But notice, like, I didn't even reply to that message. So I didn't really care because I'm having like 10 other messages anyway. Because I've got, you know, so many conversations going.
And I'm just connecting with him. I want to introduce who I am. I want to get to know him. As well.
So, you know, I never know. I might be in his town, catch up for a beer or something. You never know, right? And then so I created something.
It was like a, you know, basic sales funnel. Hey, you guys want, and I put it on my blog. Like, hey, you guys want to check out what I actually do online. I just created this little thing that explains what a sales funnel is.
He obviously liked it. Thanks for sharing that PDF on sales funnels for beginners. Good info. I'm definitely going to sign up for your blog business tutorial.
Smiley face. Because at the end of this little PDF I made in like half a day, I put, hey, if you want to sign up, you know, a little call to action. If you want to sign up, join, you know, watch this video, join here. And he did.
So, righto, man, I'm glad you like it and appreciate the feedback. If you join Empower for $25, you get your blog, etc. Be sure to send me a message as soon as you're in. Like, I leave the ball in his court.
Be sure to leave a message as soon as you're in so I can help, help you, help you everything set up. Good England. Hope you're having a good, hope you're having a good one, man. So I was like, did I, did I get all like giddy?
Like, oh, he's going to buy something? No. No. No.
I just said, righto, man, I'm glad you like it. If you join, if you join, if you decide to join, ball's in your court, you know, send me a message. I'll help you get the ball rolling. I'll help you out if you want to get started.
So it's up to you. I'm here to help you out whenever you're ready. Will do. Thanks for your help.
Looking forward to growing my business. Have a good one. Awesome, man. Be sure to message me once you're in.
And he started. Right? Why? Because I left the ball in his court.
I left it up to him. I didn't force him into anything. The moment I drove him into that, he would have been like, no, sorry if I'm talking too long. Who's this guy?
Hey, since you asked, I was like, I'll just chat you up. Got him. It actually started when one of my friends was commenting on something you had. So it popped up in my news feed.
And they were, they already had liked your page. I hadn't liked it at all. Yeah, you get a lot of that. Friends have friends.
Hey, yeah, my friend liked your page. And sometimes like, yeah, we just started talking about surfing or something. He talks about wanting to dive off cliffs in a wingsuit. I'm like, what are you on?
You're crazy. Like, why would you want to do that? Who would want to dive off the cliff in a wingsuit? Like, I mean, I like surfing and stuff.
It's pretty extreme. And so this is funny. Like, you think we're running a business here? You guys must think this guy's an idiot.
But no, it's because I'm creating value and I'm connecting with these people on such a mutual level. And yeah, this is, it's funny because now he's here, right? But it's like, I just thought it'd be funny to throw it up. We're going to find some piece of the conversation with Travis, right?
So it's like, this will be my second season in Canada, then a surf trip through South America afterwards. Who knows after that? Yeah, buddy, that's awesome. Ha, yeah.
I enjoy this a lot more than plumbing. You guys are probably going to laugh at my lingo now, eh? They'll be like, what are these guys talking about? What's the trick?
How can I travel and make money doing it? Ha, ha, ha. I joined a company that taught me how to do everything, man. Can show you the vid that explains everything I do in detail if you want to see.
Yeah, up for anything, man. I'm going to be travelling. So if I can work out how to make money from doing so, instead of just spending big, I'm all ears. Spend over 50k on holidays.
I know what he's talking about. I spent less. I spent a lot of money on holidays. Like, you know, you go, you save up, you go on holiday, you go back.
He's a plumber. We connected before this. Yeah, he's a plumber full time. Hates to grind.
It's exactly, man. I know how you feel because it sucks. You all right? So I decided to call that quits and do something a lot cooler.
You know? Ha, I'm all ears. Great. Okay.
Money well spent indeed. No worries. We'll do chairs. Now he's here.
So it's like, do you see? No. But look. Here's the thing.
Now, because he's travelling anyway, he's had the trip planned to go to Canada. If he listens, if he listens, if he listens, if he listens and takes in the information that we're sharing this week enough, and he discovers his brand enough, and he understands what a sales funnel is and how to have a sales funnel convert. If he understands how to tell one story, one good story in an ad. I ran one story while I was in Panama for a long time, far too long, longer than I should, but it worked so well, I just kept it going.
If he can learn to tell us one story, have that sales funnel going. And he understands this part about connecting with people on such a mutual level, then the sky is the limit for him. He is here and reminds me of where I was when I went to Miami not long ago. So if he can understand, and now everyone listen, if you can understand how to connect with your people, the people you're attracting on a mutual level without trying to do anything crazy, without trying to sell anything.
If you can connect with people through posts, through everything you do and say, you're the same person, you're just yourself. It's not hard work, in fact it's easy, because you're just being yourself. You know, you share common interests with other people and the other people you want to connect with. If you can understand that part, you can go as far as you want.
Right? Are we good? We got that done? Okay.
Things to remember. They don't care about every single detail. This is a funny one, right? They want to know what joining will do for them.
If they want details, the videos will explain better than you can, right? So you all have some sort of opportunity and the videos that are in that opportunity, the people that have made those videos are much smarter than you are. Well, they're much smarter than me anyway and they're much better marketers and things than you are. They're much better sales videos than you can explain on a Facebook message.
I talked with lots of people, remember, in the beginning. People don't care that there was like 200,000 people in the company and made how many millions of dollars. Because I told people that. I said, I'll mention numbers and see you later.
It was because I was instantly trying to push something on them, trying to tell them facts. They don't care about the facts. They want to know that I'm a cool guy and I share the same interests. They want to be friends and they want to see that, wow, once we've built that relationship then maybe we can do something together like start a business.
Yes, I'm sure it will help you do exactly that and I'll show you what to do along the way. I'll show you what I did. I'll show you how to do the same path. It's what I'm showing you guys right now, right?
So instead of, sorry if I'm talking too fast, but did you have a question? You look like you're about to say something. Okay. Maybe he's just lost, getting lost because I'm talking so fast.
Yes, so when you're messaging people and you're having these conversations with people, don't overdo it with them. People really don't care about the facts. But it's like people don't always care about the details. If they are a details person, they really do care and some people do.
They want to evaluate the situation. They want to know all the little details. I say, look man, and I would normally say, look man, these videos will explain much better than I can. It would take me forever and a day to write all the details on here when you can watch a video and it explains everything much better than I can.
So, and I get so many messages a day of people asking that you just got to watch a video. If you don't want to, I can't help you. You know, it's $7 to get started in my frontline opportunity. If you want to, it's $7.
Take a look. Go through the first five videos. You'll have a great understanding of what's involved, everything that's involved. If it's not for you, just don't do it anymore.
$7 ain't going to kill you. If you can't afford $7, then it's okay. Just go to someone else that will have the time to tell you. Someone will.
I'm not being mean. I'm having a lot of conversations with people and it's like, if they're going to be hesitant about it, if they're the person that's never always going to dip their toe in the water and not try, then they're not going to have success themselves. So, I want the people that are going to go, yeah, all right, let's do it, because then they're ready to do it. I don't want to take money from people that aren't going to be able to make it back themselves.
That's what Travis is there. I want to see him have more success than I've had. Okay. Talk to them like normal people.
Don't try to push them into buying anything. Put the ball in their court every time. Questions on conversations with people. Anyone?
Wow. Yo. I think the one I want to mention is like… Oh, yo, yo, yo, yo.
Big one. Big part. You pulled me up on this. Okay.
You can get people… You will get people, okay, come to you, and they will sign up. They'll even join, right? And they'll be super excited, and they'll want to take this to the sky, right?
But they will spend all day every… I bet you guys know about this, right? They will spend all day every day wanting to connect with you, asking you every single detail, wanting to know how to do every single thing. When…
And I wasted a lot of time on very few people in the beginning because I thought, you know, I was so focused to get this off the ground. I just wanted what was best for everyone. I wanted everyone to go all in with me, to create their own businesses with me. Like, I wanted every single person that I got through to skyrocket with me, but I wasted so much time on talking to people every single day, replying to every message, like, and helping them when the products and the things that we have to offer…
teach everything. When I started, I would shoot Brian a message. He'd say, go look at this. I just want to, like, you to just, like, kind of do everything for me.
He wouldn't do it. You know what I mean? Like, every time I'd shoot him a message, I'd stop sending him messages for, like, two months or something because he wouldn't reply to me. All he'd tell me to do was go do something.
So at the end, I just started listening and watching all the trainings and doing it myself because he always told me to go watch stuff. Sometimes I'd even ask Rhonda, like, a question. He didn't reply. I'd go ask Rhonda.
I know some of you people have done this, right? You ask Rhonda. I asked Rhonda something. She didn't reply.
So you ask Brian. And then he'll, like, say something wrong. You just ask Rhonda again, right? But I ended up stopping that because they just always told me to go do something else.
Now, when I started and I started getting people, I tried to help and guide them through everything. Now, if Brian had done that to me, I would have got used to being babysat. Everything I would have done, I would have gone and asked them, would have gone back and this is what I've done with some of my people is I went and replied and just wasted time. It went nowhere.
They didn't end up, you know, having great success in their business, you know, because I didn't do everything for them. So it really is when people, you know, when, you know, if I tell you, Travis, to go watch a product or something, it's because that's exactly what I had to do in the beginning to make it work. And it works. Like, we've got everything here that we need.
There's a reason that we tell people to go, you know, all in and buy the black and watch the Facebook PPC training and do certain things because there are other things that we're doing. So we're not hiding the wool over their eyes. We're just doing it. You know, we're taking action.
Maximising profit in the back end. Now, this is… New sale! Woohoo!
This is at Oktoberfest. It was a great time. Now, this is for your new people. You've just got someone…
You just made a sale. You have someone after having that conversation. They've connected with you. You've left the ball in their court and all of a sudden they pop…
Up pops a notification. Congratulations. You know, you start seeing a lot of them soon. And connect with those people within 24 hours if you can.
Sometimes I know they're a little bit… I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. Connect with those people within 24 hours if you can.
Sometimes I know they're a little bit hard to connect with but… You have so many of them that you're going to be able to get… You know, connect with enough of them, right? It should be the mind-set.
We get so many people going through our businesses. Now, connect with them within 24 hours if possible. Give them tasks and welcome them to the tribe. You know, when someone joins this online business thing that these crazy kids been doing…
And they think or should I try it? The moment that they make that commitment to buy something… Yeah. they make that commitment to buy something, then it's like, you know, welcome.
Open up a world for them. They see the Facebook group and all the people and they're like, whoa, what is going on here? You welcome them to a group and there's like 20, 30 people saying welcome to the tribe. You're like, what is this?
Where did this come from? And they get so excited just by the energy that we have in the tribe that, you know, they just get so excited. So connect with them within 24 hours, give them tasks and welcome them to the tribe. You don't need to overcomplicate them once they're in and you don't need to try and upsell them like, you know, you should buy everything right now or anything like that, okay?
Connect with them, say, hey, cool, I see you joined iPass. Sometimes I will send them a friend request. If I see someone in my business, they join, I will send them a friend request. Hey, I see you joined.
Good to have you and, or good to meet you, right? And I'll leave it up to them and they'll reply, oh yeah, I thought I'd just give it a go. I wasn't too sure what I'd get into. But, you know, I thought I'd try it.
Yeah, cool, no worries. Just watch all the first five videos. You'll get a good understanding of everything that's involved. Then shoot me a message afterwards and we'll connect.
That's all I need to do because they need to watch those videos. They will understand way better than I could try and explain, you know? So, oh, I just done it. So, hey, I see you joined.
Good to have you on board. Wait for reply. Awesome. Let me know when you have given the task.
What? Watch the videos. Do something. Every, you know, they have something to do.
They need to learn. You don't have the time to do all this, you know? You'll have a good idea of what's involved and I'll help you get the ball rolling. Awesome.
Let me know once you've watched. They'll go, yeah, sure, cool, awesome. Let me know once you've watched all five videos. I'll add you to the tribe and help you get this ball rolling.
Well, actually, you'll, yeah, sorry, you'll, they'll already add them to the tribe, you know, bring them in once they start and you're just like, you know, good. With iPass, since we're doing iPass, a lot of the time, you know, we have this success alliance group that we put together. We've got a lot of equipment. A lot of the time when I bring people into iPass, I don't even add them to the tribe.
I will say, I would say exactly this. I'll say, awesome, let me know when you have watched all five videos and you have a good idea, you know, to get the ball rolling. Or I'll say this, yeah, and I'll add, if they're excited and they're like, yeah, you know, I wanted to, I wanted to do this. I'm real excited.
I'm like, cool, watch all the five videos. Then I'll add you to the tribe and help you get the ball rolling. And I won't add them to the tribe because I know that once I've watched your five videos, they'll be more excited. Then when I do add them to the tribe, they're like, oh, yeah, cool.
I'll add you to the tribe. Like, whoa, like, you know what I mean? So I don't, I just let them do it. I leave it up to them.
And then the second connection, after they've watched your five videos and then they come and connect with you, let them do the talking. Ask if they've done what you asked. So it's like, hey, cool, you watched all the five videos. Yeah, what did you think?
You know, what do you plan to do now? It's like, yeah, I'm thinking about it, but I'm not too sure. Did you go black when you went all in? Well, we didn't actually have black cards there or, you know, we didn't have the black memberships then and I had to sell a lot of stuff, but yeah, I did.
And it was the best decision. I've ever made. If they come in, yeah, and I spent like five grand instead of three or whatever. So if they, you know, and if they commit, awesome, I'll introduce you to the tribe now.
So some people say, yeah, I'm thinking of getting that or I'm going to get, planning on getting a black card. Sorry if you want to take photos. I'll put this in the group anyway. Yeah.
If they commit, awesome, I'll introduce you to the tribe now. Wait for response and then welcome them. Yeah, so if they, yeah, so if they commit and they say like, yeah, I'm planning on going black and just going to do that tomorrow. Say, cool, let me welcome you to the tribe.
And then you put them in the tribe and you say, hey guys, I want to introduce you to them. They're going, grabbing their black card. Great to have you on board. Then they'll go all in because everyone will welcome them and they go, oh shit, I just committed to all these people that I'm going all in.
Yes, you did. Note, if after a few days you see they've done what you asked, send them a message. So if you see that they've watched the five videos that you told them to watch, you just say, hey, how are you? How are you going?
I'd done this just the other day. If I could pull up and show you. And I just said, hey, how are you going? Yeah, man, good.
It was so bogged down the other day or something that I haven't quite watched a video, but I should have questions for you tonight. I haven't watched the fifth video. So he's on number five, but he hasn't watched it. See what I mean?
So you just, you can, we have the power to see what they're doing. So you just stay on top of them. Notes. Okay, this is just, I'm pretty much finished, but I just, these are just a little bit of extra bonuses.
Facebook is your office. I've already said this, but make sure you, you know, think before you post. You understand your brand, what you're posting, all that jazz. You know this.
I've just said it for a long time. I probably don't even need this slide. What is your secret? Because people say, what's the secret, right?
What's the, actually he said, what's the secret on the thing, didn't he, on that conversation? Travis said, what's the secret? Okay, for people that, for people that aren't in, the secret is your front end offer, right? Because it's the system.
They're not ready to go, well, my secret, because my secret really is paid Facebook advertising, right? Because that's how I'm doing it. But I can't tell someone, that's brand new, that they won't even understand. So you've got to show them, like, oh, look, this.
I do internet marketing. So you have this, people go, what's the secret? Well, it's this business that I joined that I thought was a scam. I didn't know if it would work.
I don't, I don't say that all the time now, but I said it a few times back in the start, because I wanted to relate to them, you know, Kiwis and tradesmen. I said, you know, I thought it was a scam. I thought I'd try it anyway. Turns out it's changed my life.
And then for the back, for members, we all know that what my secret is, anyway, it's like Facebook pay-per-click. So it's like people say, you know, how, I'm struggling. It's like, well, how do you really want to, how do you take it off from struggling at the inner circle level or something? Well, it's like, to be honest, and I have to be honest with some people, it's like, really, I don't really know, other than just go, like, you've got to go all in and do the Facebook PPC, because that's like what I've done.
Like, I really don't know any other way for you. I genuinely want to help you. If you're willing to go all in, then let's crush it, because that's like, I know how to make that work. Yeah, so, done.
Any questions?

Nathan really does deserve an introduction because we met Nathan how many years ago? Nathan, was it three, four years ago? Two years ago, two years ago. We were working in another company and it was just this young guy, kind of Ferrari on ice, didn't really do as much as he wanted. He was there, and he'll tell you more, but Nathan committed to something, and commitment is everything. You know, Sarita's talking about her why, but Nathan committed, and I saw it in his eyes when he actually did commit, and he'll share with you how Brian actually encouraged him to be committed. But he did commit to it, and once Nathan committed he didn't stop. It's all about that commitment, and Nathan is our number one income earner in the tribe, and he deserves it because he works really hard, he plays really hard, and he knows exactly what he's talking about. So I'm like, you better get your ass moving. Yeah, testing one two, testing one two. Good. Wow, though, what a morning, how powerful, eh, crazy right, meeting some of the stories. I love how everyone, you know, everybody has their own why and their own purpose to being here. I think we've all found out and really discovered exactly what that is. You know, we all come from different backgrounds, such different people, but we all have our own reasons for being here, and I think this morning we've really just tightened that and really found our message, haven't we? You know, you all know why you're here, what you want, what your desire is, you know, to take you forward in doing this, because when you walk away from this a lot of you will be on your own again. You won't be surrounded by 50-however-many people out here to answer questions instantly. You'll be back by yourself, and that's why it is so important, and that's why we spend all morning going through these personal development trainings and things in the beginning, because it really does just set those values, you know, what to do at the beginning, and then the result hitting you. Where are you at? Where on the opportunity are you? It just locks them in, and you understanding exactly what you should be doing, and your why, your purpose, so that when you are by yourself and you're wondering, are we doing things right, should I even be doing this, is it gonna work, you're pulling your hair out because you don't know whether you're going to drop or if you can even make it through, then you understand those core values that are driving you and your why, and you're not going to give up no matter what.
I started, I just crossed the year mark, one year, and I've been travelling for ten months.
I don't want to talk about myself for too long, but you all know that if you keep an open mind and you're willing to put one foot in front of another, that this can be absolutely life-changing for you.
There is a lot of information out there. The internet is a huge place. Things are always changing, but if you can keep your mind focused on one path and you understand what it is you need to do, the sky's the limit. It really is. There's no limit to how much you can make here.
My biggest problem was the thoughts in my head. And the other week, it was the week that I went to Oktoberfest. I drank for like three days straight. Well, $9,000. And the biggest block to that, that's amazing, right?
I couldn't be happier. It took me a long time to cross. It took me a long time to get my first all-in. Remember that? It was what I was used to.
And that's kind of what I was living by. How much should I be spending on food and different things? And I was living like I was still living it back then.
And I did.
It took me a lot to get through that.
And she just starts jumping because she knows that I've, you know, cracked my first all-in. I'm just like, yeah!
So, but from there it kind of, you know, it snowballs. And a lot of the personal development comes down to it, because when you start thinking thoughts and you're like, ah, okay, I can do $3,000, and maybe I can do $2,000, and maybe I can do $6,000, you know, it just keeps going and snowballing very quickly. So, that's, yeah, I don't want to bore you with my story or anything, but that's basically it. You all know why you're here. Just make sure that when you go home and you're by yourself that you're really focused and that you have your own drive, because it really comes down to inside here, not anyone else.
If you guys don't produce, to be honest, it's not going to affect the world, the whole globe. But if you do produce, you probably could affect the whole globe if you produce big enough, you know? Okay, so today, anyway, I'm going to talk about turning leads into sales. Now, you know, you've learned how to drive traffic through YouTube from John, and soon Jabril is going to take you through how to create Facebook ads. We've been setting up our funnels all week.
So by the end of this week, you should have your funnels set up, the three-step system from your capture page, your bridge video into your opportunity. And what we're going to do now is talk about driving. Once you have traffic, you have leads, you have people liking your page through Facebook stories, because this is what we're going to get into, Facebook stories. You all have a story to tell no matter who you are. You're going to drive traffic from a Facebook fan page.
We've all talked about your brand. You all know this, right? So you all have your brand. We're all going to advertise stories on Facebook and we're going to lead them to the capture page through the funnel that way. But in driving traffic, once we get leads, we need to maximise. You guys are paying for marketing to do Facebook ads. You have to pay for it. Now there's a few things I've done when I was in Panama to really maximise the amount of sales I got per lead, because I didn't have much money.
I remember I was counting pennies wondering whether it was going to work, and it really came down to communication. The way I talk to people, the way I post it on my page, everything you do on Facebook counts. Everything. On your personal page and your fan page. If you've got a nice fan page talking about how much you love the world, how much the law of attraction has helped you, the great quotes and everything inspiring, and then on your personal page you talk about how you got a parking ticket today and it sucked.
Someone is going to see that. They will see it and they will understand it. Well, who is this person? So if you look at my pages you will notice that my personal page and my fan page, they integrate, they have the same core message. I treat Facebook as my business.
People treat Facebook as a place to just play around, which it is, it's social media, but I treat it as my business because that's what I do. So today I'm really going to dig into maximising these dollars that you spend on marketing, because people are going to like your page, they're going to see who you are and start following you. A lot of people here, they follow you for at least a month before they decide to go all in. Isn't that right, Brian? They follow you for a long time before they actually decide to, you know, go all in, build relationships.
So a lot of you that I'm closest to, and that I know, and they were good friends now, they stuck around, they looked, they started researching, you need to grow on these people. You need people to be like, oh okay, this guy is legit. He's consistent. He knows what he's talking about. He's doing this day in and day out.
He's not joking. He's not trying to make a quick buck or anything, and the key is, through our stories we talk about ourselves, we touch these points, we're going to go into creating stories later. So just keep in mind we're going to do that later, but once you have a lead, they know that you are selling them something, because most of them have seen your opportunity, they've come through, they like your page, or they're a lead. So from there it's important to create value.
I'm just talking about what I do, by the way. So people market in many different ways, attraction marketing is what I learnt, so this is my thinking. So I'm just sharing with you what goes on in my head through my business. So people know and they understand that, okay, you have an opportunity behind you. So from there on I don't see the point in blasting them consistently with come and join me, come and buy this, come and grab that, because basically I'm not trying to make a quick buck, I want to live a great lifestyle, and through attraction marketing that's the way we do it.
So because I know that my leads understand who I am, understand what I'm doing, I know that by just giving value, as in doing cool things or doing things that I like, my leads will like it, it would just create good value to them, and by that then you start getting followers that actually like your stuff even if they don't buy. Later on you create these relationships with people that you never would create otherwise and you don't scare people off. You know, you create a cool fan page, you have a good following and everything's great about that business, you're not trying to push anything onto anyone, it's easy and it becomes exciting to do. It's not like, oh no, I'm trying to sell you, no, it's like, here, this is what's happened to me, the option is open if you want it, if you don't, no worries. Okay, so let's have a look. With your page you want to find your style and your brand, now that kind of sums it up in a good photo, because it's like, I was a plumber dealing with this crap, now I'm diving. And then you want to be yourself, you want to stay consistent with your brand, you want to keep your core values the same, so you should understand and know what your brand is about. You're all creating a brand, you're creating a tagline for your brand, so you should know the values and what you like. I like travelling, I like surfing. When I started, remember, I wasn't travelling or surfing, I was plumbing, but I was into personal development, so that's another core part of my brand, personal development, and so I would always just post about experiences that I did have or experiences that I want to have, like, I would love the idea to travel the world and surf the world's best waves, you know, this is an opportunity that I've found that could do this for me, things like that. Now, here's an example, okay, I did this on September 25th 2013, this is just when I started and I created my fan page and I'm like, okay, Lifestylepreneur, that's who I am, I want to travel the world, surf, make money online if I can, this is what I want to do. I'd just come back from a trip in Bali, and I used to save up quite a long time to go surfing in Bali, or to go on surf trips and do different things. I just came back from a trip in Bali, so I thought, okay, I'm going to share my pictures, I got the experience I had, but I got the experience of roasting coffee beans in Bali. I'm not sure how many coffee lovers there are out here, but I can tell you the aroma was amazing. Lifestylepreneur got two likes on that, it's nice, right, Lifestylepreneur, my page, September 25th. And then we go like this, and it's September 25th this year, one year later, right, I don't mind travelling solo but sometimes epic views are better shared with mates. I looked through this the other day and I thought, wow, that is very similar to one year ago when I first posted, that was like one of my first posts, right, so I found the message that I wanted from the beginning, a year later I'm doing the same thing. There's Jabril looking at me, I'm doing a little pose, and it's like, but then, and this is key, right, okay, one year later, same message, just think about that, one year later, same message, same idea, except now I'm travelling. Like, I didn't have that experience, I am having the experience, see what I mean, same thing, and now I'm hashtagging like "so inspired," "dream bigger," "good times," notice those little puns there. People will read those and be like, so inspired, it takes away from the "yo I'm living it up," it's like, no, this is really inspiring because it's like I'm actually living this, like, I'm inspired now by looking at this view, it gives me more inspiration to keep going forward. All the little subtle things that you do when you post on Facebook make a huge difference, and they all come down to who this cool person is that you are, your cool brand, and every little thing you do matters, right, now I got like a hundred likes instead of two. And giving value, so once again everything on your page counts. You know Rhonda can't drive branding enough, your brand is so important. Like, you notice that everything I've done, I said I found my brand in the beginning, one year later, right now, I'm posting the same thing. Your brand is so key, there's a reason why she's like, branding, look at the shirts you guys are wearing, they all say what, yeah, it's so key, and that's what you created, is branding, is like a very core base of your business, right? So I found it. Now giving value, okay, everything you do counts, create interaction on your page. This is what I've done here, I started this, I cut off half of this post, but I said something about, I never used to be able to sleep on planes and trains because I couldn't, but now I found myself knocking, like falling asleep, everywhere, because I'm either working or travelling non-stop, so if I'm not travelling I'm working, and when I'm sitting somewhere like on the train I would just knock out like that, which I never used to be able to do. It's a skill that Jabril and Fuad are very good at but I've only recently just mastered that one. So as you know I run an online business which does not take much of my time because I have systems in place, but I'm always pushing to go bigger. If I'm not exploring, I'm working. I have a great desire to be successful and live an extraordinary life. I know the results I have will be directly proportionate to the effort I put in. So now I'm writing in a way that I'm just having thoughts with myself, I'm not trying to tell anyone to do anything, I'm just writing about kind of what I believe in and what I think I will get out of my own results. Often for getting to sleep, this leads to crashing out on the next plane, train or car I step into, pick below. Whenever I do have downtime though, my favourite thing to do is listen to audio books. I've learned more from books than anything else, and the best part about audios is they get read to you, it's like a bedtime story. It is, though. I don't really like reading but audio books are great, you just sit there and you've got this movie going on in your mind. When you travel be sure to have an audio at the ready, some of my favourites right now. I'm in need of some new books, to be honest, I didn't exactly need new books, I've got a whole lot, but I'm creating interaction on my page. Please write your favourite book below, and the comments just went vroom, and I actually got some great new ideas, but you know I know personal development quite well and I've got a heap of books that I haven't read, but it's creating interaction on my page. Now, I want people that have found my ads, they look at my page, they might not be interested in the opportunity that I have, they'll give my page a like and then they'll carry on with the rest of their day, they'll jump on Facebook on their phones and stuff, and it's important for me to create more interaction with them, to get more interaction with the audience, with these people, you need them to interact with you. If they go through and they scroll past your fan page and they see a picture on their phone or something and they don't like it, you know, there's the amount of people that see your posts, I don't know what the percentage is now, but the amount of fans that you have, the people that actually see your posts, are quite low, but if you have people engaging with your content they will get re-engaged with your content. So if I have someone commenting on my page, my photo, next time I post something they will see it, because Facebook says, oh, these guys like that page, this user likes that page, I will show the next thing he posts because you've engaged with it. So getting engagement on your page is quite key. I try, and I don't do it all the time, but it's like you want to do something that engages people, and it really does increase the amount of interaction you get on your page and people actually viewing your stuff, because you have your fan page, you have your personal page, a lot more people see your personal stuff because Facebook is like, it's a social media platform to connect people, not to connect businesses, so you can understand why they do that. Right now, things to remember, people know you are selling something, yeah, people know you are selling something after seeing your story, so be cool after that. Now you look through my page and you will see that I don't do a whole lot of "join me," "buy this," "grab that," you know, "I've got this quick deal for you that you can have everything at once for half the price," I don't say anything like that. I basically just share what I'm up to and I try to maintain my brand, which is, you know, I just want to have fun and travel around a lot and basically do cool stuff, give people value in creating posts that give value, as in interacting with people, giving them ideas for audio books, you know, personal development, people love personal development, you all like personal development, there might be a few of you, but I'm pretty sure everyone here likes personal development, writing a good inspirational post with a technique or something that they can apply is giving value. Sharing something about value, I don't mean, okay, I'm in Rome and I talk about the history of Rome and where this emperor came from and everything like that, I don't need to educate people, right, I'm connecting with the people that are like me, my clients are people like me. So what I did is I posted a picture of Rome and I'm like, I'm in Rome, I'm not going to lie, I don't really know anything about history, but after spending a few days walking around the city I'm really impressed by the architecture here and what has gone into it, or something of that matter, like, I don't try to lie, I don't google all the facts about Rome and this building that I'm sharing a photo of, no, I'm like, okay, I'm not going to lie, I dropped out of school, I didn't listen in history, I just really did appreciate that the buildings here are amazing to look at. Do I know a whole lot about it? No. Do I go through museums and find them kind of boring? Yes. But it's me, right, like, I'm sorry, a lot of people go, but it's the "me too" boring, yes, but it's the people that I'm relating to, you see, I'm trying to connect with people that are just like me. And you know, I can't see Swano connected with me, we're quite alike, and I can't see Swano walking through a lot of museums finding them really exciting for very long, can I? Yeah. And so now this is the other thing, right, why did I get started?
I found Brian and Rhonda because they're living this amazing lifestyle. And while I was plumbing I thought, man, what if, only if, only if it was a possibility, I was working 45 hours a week, 50 hours a week, just kind of a normal job, physical, but didn't exactly enjoy it. Got into personal development, wanted to live the life they were living, as soon as I found them, hooked, didn't really buy anything off of them for a long time, didn't really do anything for a long time, but I was hooked, followed them everywhere, like, yeah, crazy, like, watched his videos, he's standing at Puerto Escondido, I'm going, I wish, and then yeah, later I'm standing there with him, just, you know, vision, you can have this happen to you too. Now the message here is, create the desire in others that you had before you got started. They are on your page for the same reason you are on your sponsor's. Okay, I have people start with me, and then the next day I see them talking about, hey, if you want to make a quick extra 500 bucks send me an instant message and I'll sort you out, you know, but they don't understand it. Rio, that Rhonda was talking about before, he understood it, we said share your story, share what you believe and share your values, so we did, he walked away and he goes, okay, that same day he turned around and he wrote something, it wasn't even that long, and he just wrote, okay, I love to travel, me and my family, we love, you know, if you've wondered what we've been up to, actually diving into this online business, and we're doing this on the side as well. Like, he doesn't create, he doesn't draw too much attention to it, but it raises enough curiosity to get everyone interested, and that's attraction marketing, and he instantly put that into place. He told a story, he shared what he's about, and instantly got sales in 24 hours from getting started, and I was like, yes, he gets it, he got it straight away. For some people it takes a little bit longer, but if you can get the psychology that goes in behind it, and the way that you connect and relate to people, you have to do it on a mutual level and really connect with people, if you don't, you'll lose them, it's a disconnect. People don't want to start an online business, like, do you want to start? If you asked me a year ago, do I want to start an online business, no, not really. Do you want to travel around the world, go surfing and basically live the life of your dreams, maybe become an entrepreneur and hold talks in front of 50-odd people, maybe, but I don't think that's really possible. Well, yeah, it is, if you only just have an open mind. Yeah, I've got an open mind, do you see what I'm getting at, did that make sense, like, there's a barrier, I don't want to start a business, but you want to live this awesome lifestyle, yeah, I want to live that lifestyle, you know, so it makes sense though. So people are on your page for a reason, they're on your page for the same reason that you're on someone else's. If they stick around, they like your page, you've created enough desire in them to click like on your page or to become a lead, so in doing that they are going to stick around and want to follow you. Now if you build on the same message you're going to create more trust, more like, more know-like-and-trust over the next month, that they're going to either want to start with you or they're going to want to create a relationship with you or something, or you go into their town if you're travelling and you get messages from 10 people saying, yo, you're here, can we catch up for a coffee, and you will, and you go meet some cool people, this happens, right? So it's not all about making money, it's about putting out desire and capturing the desire you want, so it's not about just doing this to sell, like, what is it that you guys are in this for, make sure you start walking towards that yourself while you're trying to bring other people in on that idea as well. Make sure you start doing a little bit of work, I'm not saying quit your jobs and jump and fly to the other side of the world, I'm not recommending you do that, but I'm just saying as long as you're moving forward to where you want to go, in one way or another, then you're creating good value and you're bringing in more, you're creating more value for your brand and you're living your brand, and from there you'll just expand, it will expand, you'll grow, you'll be able to eventually travel around the world non-stop, you will, if you just keep consistent with that brand, and people want to see people. Make sure that, I'm a little stuck on this sometimes too, but make sure when people comment on your posts and things you write back, people send you a message you write back. If I write a post, you know, shoot me a message if I'm in your area, you never know, let's catch up and go for a wave, and I say that to surfers, because I know surfers are following me, and then you'll get messages and you just reply to messages. Make sure that you're on top of that. When you're driving traffic to your page you'll have a lot of page likes, you'll have a lot of interaction going on your pages, personal and fan pages, so just make sure that you keep up with the interaction, and it's easy, make sure you just always have data on your phone when you're travelling, for those of you that want to travel, and just constantly look at Rhonda, she's doing it right now. Hi. Hey. How are you? Good. So personal versus business page, what do you concentrate on your personal page versus business page, because what I find is that on my business page people do want to know that real personal stuff of what I'm doing, my lifestyle. This is a great, great question. Now this is funny, when I got started, in the beginning I was living in a house, a four bedroom place, I was actually renovating it, and it's early in the morning when we do calls here at night, I would wake up in the morning, I'd grab my duvet and I'd shove it under the door so that no one could hear me, because Brian, for some reason, always wanted to make me talk, and so I'd be sitting here like this on my computer, be like, yeah, I don't know, I just like travelling, you know, I like personal development, and I just want to, if I could only live the life that you're living, then yeah, that'd be great, shut all the windows, make sure none of my flatmates heard, because I wasn't embarrassed, I just didn't know if this thing could work, you know, as a 23 year old kid you don't want to go out there and try to sell all your family and friends. I'm like, do I have to sell my family and friends and stuff to make this work, then I don't know if it's for me, I want to be able to do this the way I want to do it, and so I didn't want to show anyone, I was a little bit afraid and I didn't want to put it on my personal profile, I kept my page very separate, you couldn't find that I, you know, you couldn't find my page from my personal or vice versa, right, and I had to get through that, it took me a while, basically once I took off overseas I was like, I'm going for it now. You guys might not have the same issues as me, you know, girl problems, oh, sorry, I mean teenage boy problems, because I'm a teenager, right? No, but so you guys, you know, that was just my own personal issue, right, I was worried about what other people would think of me, and now the greatest asset, though, it's been great connecting the two and making them one. And you'll notice Brian and Rhonda, they always have a lot of friends all the time, and here's a key, okay, how many of the leaders within the opportunity that you're in have 5,000 friends on Facebook, or a lot of friends on Facebook, most of them, all of them, look, people say all of them, right? How many friends do you have now, I don't have 5,000 yet, but it's going up, and it's going up because I connect with people through my advertising, and now this is where we actually get into the hustle, and I call this the hustle, I do this after Miami, so yell out if I'm taking too long. Okay, and people would like my Facebook page and I'm paying for marketing, they view my post, they click on my post, they like my page, they click away and they carry on scrolling. They're not that interested in what I have to offer, but they think, wow, this guy is actually kind of travelling around the world, he's starting a business and he's giving it a real go, he doesn't like plumbing, because I'm targeting plumbers, okay, we'll talk about storytelling soon, but a lot of people, they're still not interested, people don't want to buy exactly an income opportunity from the get-go.
I would send friend requests, I called it a hustle because I'd send them, no more than five per day. I did break that rule, but basically we don't want to get banned on Facebook. I saw that all the leaders have like 5,000 friends.
I'm like, I'm getting 5,000, I don't have, I've only got like 1,500 or something now, but still, I'm like, I want, I need more, I need more friends on Facebook. This is what they're doing, right? And this is, I had blended the Facebook personal page to fan page.
I put "works at," Nathan Buchan works at Lifestylepreneur, like on my personal page, I said works at Lifestylepreneur. So I put my page as my job. So it kind of connects the two. Okay.
Now, I would send friend requests, no more than five a day, at least 30 minutes apart from each. I had this free timer so that while I was sitting down it would go off on my computer and I'd send another one. Because if you start pounding friend requests to all the people that like your page, you instantly get flagged and blocked. So every 30 minutes I'd wait for that timer, click another friend request and carry on.
And then every few days I would unfollow the ones that didn't accept. Okay, but this is how you add friends, sorry, this is how you add friends, okay. So you go through, I'd click on her and add it, and then I'd carry on working, and then 30 minutes later the timer would go, I'd click on, oh, this one.
That's right, because she was laughing. I'd click on that and I'd add her, and then I'll carry on doing whatever I'm doing. 30 minutes later, woo, and then click on that and add her again, right? So this is what I call a hustle. And this is when I really wanted to go for it.
Now, remember, this is between Miami and New Orleans. I went from like four active members to like 56. So it works. And now here is how you unsend friend requests. Before you look at it, just listen.
If you go adding these people, don't do too many, don't do them too close together, make sure they're spaced apart, Facebook won't like it. Make sure every few days that you go and delete them, because I get notifications and it was like, oh, these people are really your friends? And you scroll through, it's like pending friend request, pending friend request, pending, because I've added so many people.
So every couple of days, go through and delete your pending friend requests, the ones that haven't accepted. To do this, you click on where your friends are, right, it goes down, this is the "people you may know," new friend request, you go, see all.
That will take you to this page. And then it will say, "people you may know," new friend request, you click on "view sent request." Now, I'll put these slides up so you can have them, but it just says view sent request.
That's how you find the requests you've sent. You go through and then you just go unsend, unsend, unsend, unsend, unsend. Puts you back on a mutual level. This sounds really bad the way I'm telling you to do this, right, but if you want to get the job done, you're willing to do what you got to do to get it going, right?
Well, do what it takes. So that's what it took. And now, message after someone has accepted your friend request, after. Don't go and send them a message before they accept.
It will go to their other inbox. Those of you that don't know it, you might click on it and find out that you've got a whole lot of messages sitting in there. Oh, you didn't know, did you? And you had a lot of messages sitting in this other inbox. So you want to make sure that you wait until they accept.
And it means they want to be your friend as well. Now, after they've accepted your friend request, shoot them a message. If you don't, nothing will happen. They might say hi, they might not. But this is what I would say.
I would say, hey, I noticed you like my Lifestylepreneur page, so I thought I'd shoot you a friend request and say hey. Notice I don't really spell everything properly, but remember, many of you might have had messages from people. People were saying, "hey there, Mr. Robert Vaughan, it is great to connect with such a like-minded individual."
"I see we share so many core values and it would be great to connect with someone that just wants to come together on such a mutual level that maybe we can expand and share ideas and take over the world together. Please shoot me a friend request if you want to connect and we'll be best friends forever, okay?" And you're like, dude, right? Yeah. All right, mate.
Like, you know, you're kind of cool and all, but I mean, I just don't know, just don't be so weird about it, all right? You can't argue, you feel sorry for them, you do feel a little bit sorry for them because you're like, man, who told you to say that? Like, oh man, like I want to be a mate, but I just kind of, sorry, right? But okay, so I connect with, I talk the way I'd talk to someone like me. Hey man, Travis might even know this line.
You get that line? Yeah. Hey man, I noticed you liked my Lifestylepreneur page, so I thought I'd shoot you a friend request and say hey. That was kind of, I thought about it for a while. Now, I wouldn't recommend someone older do this, talk like this.
I don't really understand how you talk. Sorry, Rhonda, I'll try to be professional here. No, I'm joking. All I do is joke around like that.
Okay, no, but honestly, yeah, just make sure that you connect and you're talking to the people that you connect with. Yeah, it's just on a mutual level. Don't try too hard. You talk with someone. How do you talk to your mates?
If you were going to send me a message, whoever you are, okay, don't worry who I am, because all these people that I send messages to are different. I do send it to older people and I'd say sort of the same thing. I might spell it properly. Like, I would spell it properly if I see someone older, I guess, because, you know, you talk to your grandparents different to you talk to your kids, right? And so, imagine as if you were going to thank me for liking your page.
That's basically what you want to do. This opens the playing field to turn someone that liked a page into someone that could potentially lead into something so much greater. And it has shown, proven time and time again, for me, that this has worked. Now, think of who your audience is before writing this.
You want to show them that you're real, no sales, etc. You don't go, hey, I've got this great opportunity, we're like-minded people, come and connect with me.
So, always leave the ball in their court. I might actually talk about it soon. Oh, look, here's some examples, right. Let's get into this. Now, I haven't really read this yet.
So, if it's not a good example, I'm sorry, but there are great examples out there. This is actually a long time ago, this is in May. "Hey, man, I noticed you like my Lifestylepreneur page, I thought I'd shoot you a friend request and say hey."
I don't actually have to send friend requests now, I'm past that level, I get friend requests sent to me all the time. So this is only a temporary thing. This is to get ahead of the game.
This is the grind. This is the hustle. This is what you do to get ahead. So I had to go back to find this one, someone that signed up that I think came from that, and this guy did. So it's like, "hey Nathan, I appreciate the greeting."
"Awesome page, man." Thanks, man, glad you like it. Sometimes the conversation ends there and I hear nothing, and then like a month later I get this, "wow, what are you doing, show me what you're doing."
Like a month down the track, you see, because they're watching my page, they get my personal page updates, so everything I do, they see. And then, "I find it quite inspiring that you're 24 and living the life you want." I was only 23 then.
I'm cracking myself up now. "I find it quite inspiring that you're 24 and living the life you want." Oh, 23. "Cheers, man." So he got it wrong.
"Cheers, man, my life has changed a lot in like the last eight months." "That's awesome, man, if you don't mind me asking, how so?" "I joined a company that teaches you how to make money online."
"Haha, haha." And then I said, "do you want a CrossFit gym?" Like, could have sold him then, right? But do you want a CrossFit gym, because he's lifting weights there?
And I looked at his profile when he messaged and he looks like he does CrossFit. He was an owner at a CrossFit gym. And he goes, "nice, imagine you're more than happy that you made the decision to do so, that's awesome. I'm a coach at my friend's gym."
"Looking to open my own within the next two to three years." "I'm stoked, man, haha." "I was plumbing full time eight months ago, hate it."
"Now I'm sitting in Costa Rica." Oh, we're in Costa Rica. "Looking at one of the longest point breaks in the world." "Nice, man, that's a good goal to have," because he says, "I'm a coach."
"I'm looking to open one of my own in the next two to three years," right? Went from plumbing to being in Costa Rica. "Bro, that's living." "Yeah, man, total life change."
"I'm off to Panama City in a few days, then New Orleans to stay in a mansion." Now this is a bit more of a hustle, this is when I'm kind of pushing a little bit, right. "I'm off to Panama City in a few days."
"Then New Orleans to stay in a mansion with a whole lot of marketers for a mastermind, then Mexico for a month or two." "Haha, I'm stoked for the mastermind, man."
This is the last one we had in Miami. So cool. Now you know what that video is, eh? It's the mastermind one in Miami where I'm like, you know, you guys want to win this challenge. Why?
Because you'll be featured in that video. Now what do I do? I send them the link, I send them the video, and I'm like, yeah, check this out, and it's got me a part of that video. You can see the house.
You can see the people we're surrounded by. We all work online together. Like, wow, like that creates interest. And this guy's like living, and he's sitting in Costa Rica. He was a plumber.
He's building a whole story here and all I'm doing is sending these messages, just kind of joking around, connecting with them on a mutual level. I'm not trying to force sell him. If he doesn't buy anything, I'm not worried. I'm just kind of showing him what's possible. So he didn't buy anything straight away.
Because, "look, just checked it out, I'm not laughing at things, it's a little bit weird because it's so foreign to him, that's all right." One of my favourite, we are a little bit strange, aren't we?
"One of my favourite powerlifters who I got certified from a couple of months ago actually runs a mastermind as well." "Always wanted to go to one." "Cool, man, maybe you could." And then, okay, so this is my 10th or the 5th message.
Oh, this is only seven days apart, okay, I thought it was more of a gap. This could have a bigger gap, right, but the conversation ended.
And this is May 18th now. And so I didn't even reply to that. So I could have gone, oh yeah, cool man, we host this every three months if you want to get started with us, but I probably wouldn't push it that hard either.
But notice, I didn't even reply to that message. So I didn't really care because I'm having like 10 other messages anyway, because I've got so many conversations going, and I'm just connecting with him. I want to introduce who I am.
I want to get to know him as well. So, you know, I never know, I might be in his town, catch up for a beer or something. You never know, right?
And then so I created something, it was like a basic sales funnel. "Hey, you guys want," and I put it on my blog. "Hey, you guys want to check out what I actually do online," I just created this little thing that explains what a sales funnel is.
He obviously liked it. "Thanks for sharing that PDF on sales funnels for beginners, good info, I'm definitely going to sign up for your blog business tutorial." Smiley face.
Because at the end of this little PDF I made in like half a day, I put, hey, if you want to sign up, a little call to action, if you want to sign up, join, watch this video, join here. And he did. "So righto, man, I'm glad you like it and appreciate the feedback. If you join Empower for $25, you get your blog, etc."
"Be sure to send me a message as soon as you're in." Like, I leave the ball in his court. "Be sure to leave a message as soon as you're in so I can help you get everything set up. Good on ya, hope you're having a good one, man."
So I was like, did I get all like giddy, like, oh he's going to buy something? No. No, I just said, "righto man, I'm glad you like it."
If you decide to join, ball's in your court, you know, send me a message, I'll help you get the ball rolling, I'll help you out if you want to get started. So it's up to you, I'm here to help you out whenever you're ready.
"Will do, thanks for your help, looking forward to growing my business, have a good one." "Awesome, man."
Be sure to message me once you're in. And he started. Right? Why? Because I left the ball in his court.
I left it up to him. I didn't force him into anything. The moment I drove him into that, he would have been like, no, sorry if I'm talking too long, who's this guy? Hey, since you asked, I was like, I'll just chat you up.
Got him. "It actually started when one of my friends was commenting on something you had, so it popped up in my news feed, and they already had liked your page. I hadn't liked it at all."
Yeah, you get a lot of that. Friends have friends. "Hey, yeah, my friend liked your page." And sometimes we just started talking about surfing or something. He talks about wanting to dive off cliffs in a wingsuit.
I'm like, what are you on? You're crazy. Why would you want to do that? Who would want to dive off a cliff in a wingsuit? Like, I like surfing and stuff.
It's pretty extreme. And so this is funny. Like, you think we're running a business here, you guys must think this guy's an idiot. But no, it's because I'm creating value and I'm connecting with these people on such a mutual level.
And yeah, this is funny because now he's here, right? But it's like, I just thought it'd be funny to throw it up. We're going to find some piece of the conversation with Travis, right? So it's like, "this will be my second season in Canada, then a surf trip through South America afterwards, who knows after that?"
"Yeah, buddy, that's awesome, ha, yeah, I enjoy this a lot more than plumbing." You guys are probably going to laugh at my lingo now, eh? They'll be like, what are these guys talking about?
"What's the trick, how can I travel and make money doing it? Ha ha ha." "I joined a company that taught me how to do everything, man, can show you the vid that explains everything I do in detail if you want to see."
"Yeah, up for anything man, I'm going to be travelling, so if I can work out how to make money from doing so instead of just spending big, I'm all ears. Spent over 50k on holidays." I know what he's talking about.
I spent less, I spent a lot of money on holidays. Like, you know, you save up, you go on holiday, you go back. He's a plumber. We connected before this.
Yeah, he's a plumber full time, hates the grind. "It's exactly, man, I know how you feel because it sucks." You alright?
"So I decided to call it quits and do something a lot cooler, you know." "Ha, I'm all ears, great." Okay.
"Money well spent indeed." "No worries, we'll do cheers." Now he's here. So it's like, do you see?
No, but look, here's the thing. Now, because he's travelling anyway, he's had the trip planned to go to Canada. If he listens, and takes in the information that we're sharing this week enough, and he discovers his brand enough, and he understands what a sales funnel is and how to have a sales funnel convert.
If he understands how to tell one story, one good story in an ad, I ran one story while I was in Panama for a long time, far too long, longer than I should have, but it worked so well I just kept it going. If he can learn to tell one story, have that sales funnel going, and he understands this part about connecting with people on such a mutual level, then the sky is the limit for him. He is here and reminds me of where I was when I went to Miami not long ago.
So if he can understand, and now everyone listen, if you can understand how to connect with your people, the people you're attracting, on a mutual level, without trying to do anything crazy, without trying to sell anything. If you can connect with people through posts, through everything you do and say, you're the same person, you're just yourself. It's not hard work, in fact it's easy, because you're just being yourself. You share common interests with other people, the other people you want to connect with. If you can understand that part, you can go as far as you want.
Right? Are we good? We got that done? Okay. Things to remember.
They don't care about every single detail. This is a funny one, right? They want to know what joining will do for them. If they want details, the videos will explain better than you can, right? So you all have some sort of opportunity, and the videos that are in that opportunity, the people that have made those videos are much smarter than you are.
Well, they're much smarter than me anyway, and they're much better marketers and better at sales videos than you can explain in a Facebook message. I talked with lots of people, remember, in the beginning. People don't care that there were like 200,000 people in the company and made how many millions of dollars, because I told people that.
I said, I'll mention numbers, and see you later. It was because I was instantly trying to push something on them, trying to tell them facts. They don't care about the facts. They want to know that I'm a cool guy and I share the same interests. They want to be friends, and they want to see that, wow, once we've built that relationship then maybe we can do something together, like start a business.
Yes, I'm sure it will help you do exactly that, and I'll show you what to do along the way. I'll show you what I did. I'll show you how to do the same path. It's what I'm showing you guys right now, right? So, sorry if I'm talking too fast, but did you have a question?
You look like you're about to say something. Okay, maybe he's just getting lost because I'm talking so fast. Yes, so when you're messaging people and you're having these conversations with people, don't overdo it with them. People really don't care about the facts.
But some people don't always care about the details. If they are a details person, they really do care, and some people do, they want to evaluate the situation, they want to know all the little details. I would normally say, look man, these videos will explain much better than I can.
It would take me forever and a day to write all the details on here when you can watch a video and it explains everything much better than I can. So I get so many messages a day of people asking that, you just got to watch a video. If you don't want to, I can't help you. It's $7 to get started in my frontline opportunity. If you want to, it's $7.
Take a look, go through the first five videos, you'll have a great understanding of everything that's involved. If it's not for you, just don't do it anymore. $7 ain't going to kill you.
If you can't afford $7, then it's okay, just go to someone else that will have the time to tell you. Someone will. I'm not being mean. I'm having a lot of conversations with people, and it's like, if they're going to be hesitant about it, if they're the person that's never going to dip their toe in the water and try, then they're not going to have success themselves.
So I want the people that are going to go, yeah, all right, let's do it, because then they're ready to do it. I don't want to take money from people that aren't going to be able to make it back themselves. That's what Travis is there for, I want to see him have more success than I've had. Okay.
Talk to them like normal people. Don't try to push them into buying anything. Put the ball in their court every time. Questions on conversations with people? Anyone?
Wow. Yo. I think the one I want to mention is... oh, yo, yo, yo, yo. Big one.
Big part, you pulled me up on this. Okay. You will get people, okay, come to you, and they will sign up.
They'll even join, right, and they'll be super excited, and they'll want to take this to the sky, right, but they will spend all day every day. I bet you guys know about this, right? They will spend all day every day wanting to connect with you, asking you every single detail, wanting to know how to do every single thing.
And I wasted a lot of time on very few people in the beginning because I was so focused to get this off the ground, I just wanted what was best for everyone. I wanted everyone to go all in with me, to create their own businesses with me. I wanted every single person that I got through to skyrocket with me, but I wasted so much time talking to people every single day, replying to every message, helping them, when the products and the things that we have to offer...
teach everything. When I started I would shoot Brian a message, he'd say, go look at this, I just wanted him to do everything for me. He wouldn't do it.
You know what I mean? Every time I'd shoot him a message, I'd stop sending him messages for like two months or something because he wouldn't reply to me. All he'd tell me to do was go do something. So in the end I just started listening and watching all the trainings and doing it myself because he always told me to go watch stuff. Sometimes I'd even ask Rhonda a question.
He didn't reply. I'd go ask Rhonda. I know some of you people have done this, right? You ask Rhonda. I asked Rhonda something.
She didn't reply. So you ask Brian. And then he'll say something wrong, you just ask Rhonda again, right? But I ended up stopping that because they just always told me to go do something else.
Now, when I started and I started getting people, I tried to help and guide them through everything. Now, if Brian had done that to me, I would have got used to being babysat. Everything I would have done, I would have gone and asked them, and this is what I've done with some of my people, I went and replied and just wasted time. It went nowhere. They didn't end up having great success in their business, because I didn't do everything for them.
So it really is, when I tell you, Travis, to go watch a product or something, it's because that's exactly what I had to do in the beginning to make it work. And it works. We've got everything here that we need. There's a reason that we tell people to go all in and buy the black and watch the Facebook PPC training and do certain things, because there are other things that we're doing. So we're not pulling the wool over their eyes.
We're just doing it. We're taking action. Maximising profit on the back end. Now, this is... new sale!
Woohoo! This is at Oktoberfest. It was a great time. Now, this is for your new people. You've just got someone...
You just made a sale. You have someone after having that conversation. They've connected with you. You've left the ball in their court and all of a sudden they pop... up pops a notification.
Congratulations. You start seeing a lot of them soon. And connect with those people within 24 hours if you can. Sometimes I know they're a little bit hard to connect with, but...
You have so many of them that you're going to be able to connect with enough of them, right?
It should be the mindset. We get so many people going through our businesses. Now, connect with them within 24 hours if possible. Give them tasks and welcome them to the tribe. When someone joins this online business thing that these crazy kids have been doing...
And they think, should I try it? The moment that they make that commitment to buy something, then it's like, you know, welcome. Open up a world for them.
They see the Facebook group and all the people and they're like, whoa, what is going on here? You welcome them to a group and there's like 20, 30 people saying welcome to the tribe. You're like, what is this? Where did this come from? And they get so excited just by the energy that we have in the tribe.
So connect with them within 24 hours, give them tasks and welcome them to the tribe. You don't need to overcomplicate it once they're in, and you don't need to try and upsell them, like, you should buy everything right now or anything like that, okay? Connect with them, say, hey, cool, I see you joined iPass. Sometimes I will send them a friend request. If I see someone in my business joins, I will send them a friend request.
Hey, I see you joined, good to have you, or good to meet you, right? And I'll leave it up to them, and they'll reply, oh yeah, I thought I'd just give it a go, I wasn't too sure what I'd get into, but I thought I'd try it.
Yeah, cool, no worries, just watch all the first five videos, you'll get a good understanding of everything that's involved, then shoot me a message afterwards and we'll connect. That's all I need to do because they need to watch those videos.
They will understand way better than I could try and explain. So, I just done it, so, hey, I see you joined, good to have you on board. Wait for reply.
Awesome, let me know when you have given the task, what, watch the videos, do something.
Every, they have something to do, they need to learn, you don't have the time to do all this. You'll have a good idea of what's involved and I'll help you get the ball rolling. Awesome.
Let me know once you've watched, they'll go, yeah sure, cool, awesome. Let me know once you've watched all five videos, I'll add you to the tribe and help you get this ball rolling. Well actually, they'll already add them to the tribe, bring them in once they start, and you're just like, good.
With iPass, since we're doing iPass, a lot of the time we have this success alliance group that we put together. We've got a lot of equipment. A lot of the time when I bring people into iPass, I don't even add them to the tribe. I would say exactly this: awesome, let me know when you have watched all five videos and you have a good idea, to get the ball rolling.
Or I'll say this, and I'll add, if they're excited and they're like, yeah, I wanted to do this, I'm real excited, I'm like, cool, watch all the five videos, then I'll add you to the tribe and help you get the ball rolling. And I won't add them to the tribe because I know that once they've watched the five videos, they'll be more excited.
Then when I do add them to the tribe, they're like, oh yeah, cool, I'll add you to the tribe, like, whoa, you know what I mean? So I just let them do it. I leave it up to them.
And then the second connection, after they've watched your five videos and then they come and connect with you, let them do the talking. Ask if they've done what you asked. So it's like, hey, cool, you watched all the five videos, yeah, what did you think? What do you plan to do now?
It's like, yeah, I'm thinking about it, but I'm not too sure. Did you go black when you went all in? Well, we didn't actually have black cards there, or we didn't have the black memberships then and I had to sell a lot of stuff, but yeah, I did. And it was the best decision I've ever made.
If they come in, yeah, and I spent like five grand instead of three or whatever. So if they commit, awesome, I'll introduce you to the tribe now. So some people say, yeah, I'm thinking of getting that, or I'm planning on getting a black card. Sorry if you want to take photos, I'll put this in the group anyway.
Yeah. If they commit, awesome, I'll introduce you to the tribe now. Wait for response and then welcome them. So if they commit and they say, yeah, I'm planning on going black and just going to do that tomorrow, say, cool, let me welcome you to the tribe.
And then you put them in the tribe and you say, hey guys, I want to introduce you to them, they're grabbing their black card, great to have you on board.
I done this just the other day, if I could pull up and show you.
And I just said, hey, how are you going? Yeah man, good, it was so bogged down the other day or something that I haven't quite watched a video, but I should have questions for you tonight. I haven't watched the fifth video. So he's on number five, but he hasn't watched it.
See what I mean? So we have the power to see what they're doing, so you just stay on top of them. Notes. Okay, this is just, I'm pretty much finished, but these are just a little bit of extra bonuses.
Facebook is your office. I've already said this, but make sure you think before you post, you understand your brand, what you're posting, all that jazz. You know this, I've just said it for a long time.
I probably don't even need this slide. What is your secret? Because people say, what's the secret, right? He said, what's the secret on the thing, didn't he, in that conversation? Travis said, what's the secret?
Okay, for people that aren't in, the secret is your front end offer, right, because it's the system. They're not ready to go, well, my secret really is paid Facebook advertising, right, because that's how I'm doing it. But I can't tell someone that's brand new, they won't even understand.
So you've got to show them, oh look, this, I do internet marketing. So you have this, people go, what's the secret? Well, it's this business that I joined that I thought was a scam. I didn't know if it would work.
I don't say that all the time now, but I said it a few times back in the start, because I wanted to relate to them, you know, Kiwis and tradesmen. I said, you know, I thought it was a scam, I thought I'd try it anyway. Turns out it's changed my life. And then for members, we all know that what my secret is anyway, it's like Facebook pay-per-click.
So it's like people say, how, I'm struggling. It's like, well, how do you really want to take it off from struggling at the inner circle level or something? Well, to be honest, and I have to be honest with some people, it's like, really, I don't really know, other than just, you've got to go all in and do the Facebook PPC, because that's what I've done. I really don't know any other way for you. I genuinely want to help you.
If you're willing to go all in, then let's crush it, because I know how to make that work. Yeah, so, done. Any questions?
