The CPA Traffic Rule That Stops a Single Mistake From Costing You a Fortune
You’ve got a landing page that converts, and you know your numbers on the traffic you’re already running. Facebook, PPV, maybe an agency or two. Now you’re staring at CPA networks, the kind of traffic that can hand you 5,000 or 10,000 leads in a single day if your budget can cover it. It looks like the fast lane. Vic Strizheus opens this lesson by telling you straight up that it’s also the lane where people who don’t know the rules get run over, and then he spends the rest of the session showing you how to get in it without losing your shirt.
What makes CPA traffic so much more dangerous than the traffic you’re already running?
CPA stands for cost per action, or cost per acquisition. Instead of paying for clicks or impressions, you only pay when a specific action happens: an opt-in, a sale, a trial. A CPA network sits in the middle, connecting advertisers (that’s you, if you’ve got an offer) with publishers, the affiliates who actually drive the traffic. The leverage is real. You can scale from a few thousand dollars a month to a completely different level in a matter of days if your offer converts and your numbers hold.
The catch is everything that makes it powerful also makes it unforgiving. Unlike a self-serve PPC or PPV platform where you can pause a campaign the second it’s underperforming, a CPA campaign doesn’t stop on a dime. Minimum deposits run into the thousands, not hundreds. And getting a network to even accept you as an advertiser isn’t automatic. Most first applications get rejected, and the fix isn’t a better form, it’s a phone call.
Why does one rule protect you from a very expensive mistake?
Here’s the part of the lesson that matters most if you only remember one thing. When you negotiate a rate per opt-in with a publisher, you have to specify a double opt-in, meaning the person confirms their email before the action counts and the network’s tracking pixel fires. Skip that step and agree to pay for a single opt-in instead, and you’re exposed to publishers running scripts that manufacture tens of thousands of fake opt-ins in an hour, on your dime.
never ever pay for a single opt-in
Vic Strizheus isn’t subtle about what’s at stake here. He describes the worst case plainly, warning that with a single opt-in setup “you will end up with like, you know, a $300,000 bill in an hour”. That’s not a hypothetical for shock value, it’s the actual mechanism: no verification step means no friction between a bad actor and your budget. Double opt-in adds that friction back in.
How do you get a CPA network to actually work with you?
Assume you’ll get rejected the first time you apply. It’s normal, and it’s not personal. CPA networks reject a large share of applications by default because they’d rather protect their publisher relationships than let just anyone in. The move isn’t to reapply and hope. It’s to call, ask for your account manager, and be direct about what you’re promoting and what you want.
Once you’re on the phone, the tone matters more than the pitch. As Vic Strizheus puts it, “You want to listen twice as much as you speak”. Don’t ask your account manager what they think you should pay or whether your offer will convert. Tell them what you’re running, that it’s tested, and what you want the deal structured as, then let them counter. He treats it as a negotiation from a position of competence, not a request for help, because the moment a network smells inexperience, the terms shift against you.
A short list of the ground rules he lays out for that first conversation:
- Never run an offer on a CPA network before it’s been proven on other traffic sources first.
- Always negotiate for a double opt-in, never a single one.
- Start with the smallest test commitment the network will allow, days rather than weeks.
- Make your account manager an ally. Be direct, be polite, and never signal that you’re new to this.
What do you need to know before you ever place an order?
Everything in this lesson leans on one requirement: you have to know your numbers before you touch CPA traffic. Earnings per click, earnings per opt-in, and long-term customer value aren’t optional math for this method, they’re the whole negotiation. If you know your average earnings per opt-in, you can work backward to what you’re willing to pay a network per lead and still come out ahead, and you can defend that number instead of guessing at it on the call.
Most marketers in this industry never build that habit. They run traffic on instinct and wonder why scaling breaks something that used to work. The reader who tracks this stuff, who actually knows their opt-in rate and their conversion rate before they ever dial a CPA network’s phone number, is playing an entirely different game than the one still throwing darts in the dark.
None of this is complicated once the numbers exist. What’s hard is doing the tracking work first instead of skipping straight to the exciting part. Get the double opt-in rule right, get your numbers solid, and CPA traffic stops being the lane where beginners get run over.

Hey, everybody. Welcome to CPA Traffic Module. We're going to get started right away. I'm actually not going to take a lot of time on this module just because, let me tell you why, because this is not for the beginner, okay?
I'm going to show you this stuff. This stuff is absolutely explosive. It is not, I mean, it's like, you know, it's like when you go to fight with like a fork and like a bazooka, you know what I mean? That's kind of the comparison, you know, when we're talking about CPA traffic, what's available, the whole CPA marketing world, it's absolutely mind-blowing what you can do with this.
But, got to tell you, got to tell you, got to tell you right now, this is not for the beginner. But, you know what? The good news is, is you can work your way up to this level, okay? And I'm going to introduce you to this concept.
I'm going to introduce you to this module. I'm going to introduce you to this, you know, way of getting traffic. And when you get here, when you start to play the game at this level, it is fun. Over.
I mean, you can be unstoppable with this method, okay? So, what I'm going to do right now is I'm going to introduce you to this, all right? And then what we'll do, you know, in the round two or perhaps round three, as we progress into the future, is we can take, you know, this stuff and just really go into a lot more details. Once you get your feet, you know, wet a little bit with this, you know, these other concepts that I'm teaching for traffic, you know, once you know what's converting for you, what's not converting for you, what's not converting for you, what's converting, you know, you get a hang of, you know, optimization, you know, all that good stuff, right?
Let me cover a few things right here, okay? So, let me tell you some of the pros, kind of cover some of the pros for CPA traffic. And then we're going to cover some of the cons, you know, some of the ups and downs so that you know, all right? So, here are some of the pros.
I mean, when you do CPA traffic, okay, when you're getting traffic through CPA networks, you are getting an unbelievable, unbelievable leverage. I mean, you're leveraging your efforts, you're leveraging your business, you're leveraging your time, you're leveraging your money like nothing else in existence, okay? It's absolutely mind-boggling the amount of leverage that you get by doing CPA traffic method, okay? Now, the results are on demand, okay?
I'm going to show you some and actually give you some more details on this a little bit later, but I mean, it's absolutely phenomenal what you can do with this particular method, you know what I mean? If you want to get five, think about it. If you want to get 5,000 or 10,000 leads, I'm not talking about visitors, I'm talking about leads, okay? Opt-ins to your list.
If you want to get, do you want to get 10,000 leads a day, right? Not a problem. They can send you 5,000, 10,000, 50,000 leads in a day, you know, if you have a budget that's big enough, you know, to cover that. I mean, it's absolutely, it's what you can conceive.
It's what you can get, okay? But you've got to know the game. You've got to know and understand how the game works, okay? Again, I wanted to paint a little picture for you what's possible and kind of give you a glimpse to this entire world, right, that's available to you.
But again, don't, I don't want you, especially if you're just getting started, you know, just be very, very, you know, just listen to my advice, okay? Work your way up to this level. You're never, you never want to jump, just jump into this and I'll tell you why in a minute, okay? But this can get you just ridiculous amounts of traffic and leads and whatever you want, okay?
Cool thing about, you know, CPA traffic is you only pay when a specific action is recorded. So you can pay, you know, for an opt-in when somebody opts in, okay? You can pay when somebody actually makes a purchase, okay? And you only pay for, you know, when that action actually is recorded, okay?
So it's really, really cool. So you're not really paying for traffic, you're paying for specific action. The scale potential is enormous. Now, here is some of the cons, okay?
Some of the, you know, the downside of doing CPA marketing. It can be very, very dangerous if you don't know what you're doing, okay? That's why I'm telling you if you're just, you know, if you're brand new, I want you to know that this is available, okay? But I would not, advise you to just jump into that right now, especially if you're just getting started, okay?
Without a few things that we're going to talk, you know, we're going to cover here, okay? But again, eventually, you want to get to this level. Eventually, you know, eventually want to play this game because it's so good, all right? It's absolutely, you know, in my opinion, this is the most, you know, lucrative, the fastest way for you to just, you know, I mean, if you, think about it this, okay?
If you're doing $10,000 a month, okay? Or, you know, $20,000 a month. By, you know, stepping into the CPA, you know, marketing world, you can take, if you know what you're doing, all right? You can take your income, let's say if it's $10,000, $20,000 per month, and you can just, you can 10x your income just like that, okay?
I'm talking about in a matter of like a week, okay? If you know what you're doing, okay? If you know what you're doing. See, another side that's not so good about this, and again, this is going to apply more for, you know, people who are just getting started.
I mean, if you know what you're doing, you know, you don't have any issues really with this, but, you know, if somebody, you know, if you're just getting started, if you start a campaign, it's not very, you know, you won't be able to stop it very quickly. Like, for example, if you do like a, you know, a PPV campaign or PPC campaign or, you know, or even with, you know, like getting traffic through traffic agencies or any other methods, okay, that we discussed here. It's usually, if it's a self-serve platform, it's usually very easy for you to pause your campaign, right?
You say, well, I'm not getting the results I want. I'm not getting the conversions I want, so I'm just going to pause the campaign right now. Boom, the campaign is paused, and you're not, you know, you're not spending any money on the campaign, right? Not so with the CPA, okay?
With how the CPA works, and I'm actually going to explain to you in a minute here, but the campaign cannot be stopped very quickly, okay? Minimum deposit to get started can be a little high, okay? Sometimes, you know, I mean, you just, you will not be able to start for hundreds of dollars. You, you, you know, you're not going to you're looking more at like thousands of dollars to get started, even for a minimum, you know, minimum deposit to get, to get a test campaign going.
It can be difficult, especially if you're brand new, to get accepted to a CPA network, but don't worry, there is always a way around it, okay? And it depends on what you're promoting. Again, I don't know what you're promoting. Not every offer will be accepted, okay?
If you have a very, very niche-specific, you know, tiny niche kind of offers, it's, it's, it's, it's harder to get those types of offers to be accepted, uh, on the CPA network, okay? Make sense? All right, so let me show you how this stuff works, all right? Um, I've been, uh, you know, I've been playing with, you know, with, uh, uh, with CPA traffic, uh, for quite some time now, and, um, again, this is, this is something that, you know, um, I, you know, I mean, I, I understand it, right?
But I'm not, even at this level where I'm at right now, okay? I don't go too crazy with this, uh, just because the, I mean, if I, if I, I'll talk about this in a minute here, okay? Um, here is how it basically works. So CPA stands for cost per action or cost per acquisition, okay?
Cost per action or cost per acquisition. Um, that's when you pay, you know, for a specific, you know, action, whether it's an opt-in or a sale or a trial or anything like that, okay? Uh, CPA network, okay? They, uh, uh, CPA network basically connects advertisers and publishers.
So they're like a middleman. They're, you know, they, they, they bring publishers and advertisers together, uh, and they arrange all that stuff, okay? So an advertiser is a person with an offer, okay? If you have something that you're promoting, if you have something you want to drive traffic to, okay?
You're, you're an advertiser. And a publisher is essentially, it's an affiliate, okay? Group of affiliates promoting offers, okay? Promoting offers.
Um, so, uh, in this case right here, what we're going to be talking about, or in this particular training, um, the, the, the, uh, uh, the side of a CPA, you know, traffic we're going to be talking about is, you know, from a standpoint of being an advertiser, okay? To where you have a website, you want to get traffic to that website. So you, you want to get publishers to advertise your website. So you're leveraging, you know, the CPA network that has a lot of thousands upon thousands.
You know, so-called publishers, or you know, affiliates, right, and they’re driving traffic to your site, and you’re only paying when somebody opts in, okay? Very, very awesome, if it works for you, okay? I say if it works for you because you got to make, make sure that your, your offer actually converts, okay?
Now, advertiser puts up an offer, just like I said, and publishers promoted, okay? We kind of covered it in just a minute ago, all right? So, and then you pay, you know, as a publisher, or as an advertiser rather, you pay the CPA network, okay, agreed dollar amount, purse, you know, for a specific action. So if you agreed to pay three dollars or four dollars or five dollars per lead, right, that they generate for you, you know, you’ll pay the, the network, and then the network will turn around, and they’ll keep their, you know, a portion of, their of the, of the money, and then they’ll pay the rest to the publisher, okay, or the affiliate, for running traffic for you. And then they’ll pay the rest to the publisher, okay, or the affiliate, for you and for generating those conversions, okay?
So that’s kind of how the process works, in a nutshell. Here is the process though, okay? Here is a process. So what you’re gonna do is you’re gonna find a big CPA network, the keyword here, my friend, is finding a big CPA network. There is a lot of them out there, there is hundreds of CPA networks.
There are CPA networks popping out, you know, all the time, new ones, right? I don’t want to deal with CPA networks that are brand new, okay? I don’t want to deal with CPA networks that are, you know, just getting started with no reputation, just because a lot of them are going to, you know, a lot of them, you know, especially if you don’t know what you’re doing, especially if you don’t know the game, a lot of them might take advantage of you, okay? And you don’t want to be in that position.
And a lot of them, you know, they’re kind of here today, gone tomorrow. There, there are quite a few, actually, very, very, very big CPA networks out there that I’m gonna post some links below, you know, under the second video here, that you can check out, okay? So you will register as an advertiser, okay? And as an advertiser, because advertiser puts up an offer, and you know that’s where you want the traffic to go to, okay?
Don’t be surprised if you get rejected. So if you had, if you register as an advertiser, you know, there is a very good chance you probably will get rejected from the first, you know, from the first try. Don’t worry, it’s normal, and that’s actually a good thing, because CPA networks, they don’t approve everybody automatically. They usually reject, I mean, like 85% of applications will get rejected.
Simply, what you need to do is follow up with a phone call. Just be real with them, okay? And when you follow up with a phone call, they’ll look at you differently, okay? You will connect with your account manager, and just be really, really cool with them, okay? Just be super awesome with them, be very personable, be very polite, okay?
And tell them what you want to do. Just say, hey, I got, you know, I got this offer, you know, I want to, want to, you know, I’ve been, I’ve been advertising, you know, with these other channels, I’ve been getting traffic to it, it’s converting well, whatever your situation is. Again, I don’t know what you’re doing, all right, I don’t know what you’re promoting, but just tell them what you want to do, okay?
And chances are, what you want to do is probably get, you know, is, is to get people to promote your offer and when you pay for an opt-in, okay? Because as a marketer, as an advertiser, your goal is to build your list, right? If you, I mean, if you, that’s what I do, okay?
When I go to CPA Network, I don’t pay for sales, I don’t pay for a, you know, because it’s, it’s, it’s a lot difficult, it’s a lot more difficult to, to get, you know, publishers to promote your stuff when you’re paying for sales. It’s a lot easier to get them to promote you when you are paying for an opt-in, because it’s a lot easier for them to get you an opt-in than to get you a sale, okay?
When somebody has to purchase, you know, that the, the, the volume of the traffic just needs to be, again, depending what, you know, how well your stuff converts, I mean, you just really have to have a really good converting offer. But, you know, the cool thing about paying for an opt-in is, you know what, you have full control of the sale.
You’re only paying for an opt-in, and you know, and, and so it’s a lot easier for them to get you those opt-ins, and you’re building your list like crazy, right? And if you know what to do with those options, you know, you have a system for monetizing those opt-ins, your golden, okay?
You’re gonna negotiate the best deal possible, all right? Of course, I’ll try to get you to pay the highest amount possible, and you want to pay the lowest amount of possible, right? So we’ll talk about that in, in a bit here, okay? And you want to start by doing the smallest test run possible, okay?
So, you know, if their smallest test run is, hey, let’s, let’s try to get you, you know, 50 leads in a day, all right, or a hundred leads in a day, and that’s their smallest package, okay? Then, whatever that smallest run, test run, is, okay, usually they’ll want you to commit for like a specific number of opt-ins that you’re gonna pay for, you know, per day, on a daily basis, right?
And say, you know, so what are the, you know, what would be the shortest term that I can agree to? So is that gonna be three days, is that gonna be a week, right, is that gonna be two weeks? Obviously, the shorter the better for you, okay, especially if you’re brand new to this.
And then, you know, don’t, don’t go crazy, and don’t say, yeah, I’m gonna pay for 500 leads per day, you know, just because you don’t know, you know, how well your leads will convert to sales, unless you know those numbers, right? Be very careful. So we’ll talk about that in just a moment, okay?
Here are the golden tips for you, okay? And, and I hope that you take these seriously, all right? Here you go, my friend. Listen, I’ve been doing, I mean, I’ve been getting traffic through CPA networks for, you know, quite some time, actually a few years now. I absolutely love it, I love it, okay?
You, the, the reason I don’t do it on just a ridiculously massive scale, even at the level where I’m at right now, right, is because I’m always testing new ideas. I’m always, that are always testing new landing pages, I’m always testing new offers. And so, because of that, I don’t want to, you know, I, I had enough.
I was promoting, this was a couple years ago, that it was converting, you know, I mean, it was one offer, it was steady conversions, you know, they, you know, a lot of people were a little tired of it, you know. I was just me promoting that, and you know, I, I nailed it down to, or I, you know, I got it down to a signs to where I knew exactly what my numbers are.
I knew exactly, you know, what my conversion is on a landing page. I knew exactly what the, you know, the, the sales conversions were, the upsell percentages, all that stuff, and it was consistent, okay? It was consistent, and I was, I mean, I wrapped the thing up, it was like printing money.
You know, what I’m doing right now is just, I’m testing, you know, a lot of different things, I’m testing a lot of different pages. So, you know, I don’t go too crazy, but when I have something that is converting consistently, you just turn on the faucet, man, and it’s over, alright?
So here’s how, some golden tips for you. Never run an offer that hasn’t been tested with other traffic sources first, okay? You never want to test your landing page on a CPA network, okay? You don’t know how well it converts, you don’t know, you know, what kind of sales you have on the back end there. You want to know your numbers, okay?
You want to know what kind of, you know, opt-in conversions. So if you have a hundred visitors to your landing page, how many of those people will convert into leads, okay? You got to know that. You’re gonna know what your, you know, EPC, or, or earnings per click.
So if you, if you have a hundred clicks to your site, to your landing page, out of those a hundred clicks, what is your average, or earnings per click, that make sense? And the way you calculate that is, you take, you know, if you have, you know, a hundred people visit at your site, obviously there’s gonna be a percentage of them that will opt-in, okay?
And then, out of those people that opted in and became your leads, certain percentage, very small percentage, of those people will probably make a purchase, okay? So you take that number of people who purchased, all right, and then what the dollar amount that they paid for that purchase, you take that, divided by your number of visitors, initial visitors to that landing page, make sense?
So that’s how you calculate your earnings per click, how much are you earning every time somebody clicks onto your landing page, not opt-in, not opt-in, but clicks, okay? Just as important for you to know is earnings per opt-in, okay? So you want to know earnings per click and then earnings per opt-in, okay?
Why is it important? Well, it’s because you got to know your earnings per click, and then you’re gonna be paying for opt-ins, right? You’ll be paying the CPA network every time somebody opts in, so you gotta know your value, your earnings per opt-in, all right?
So if you know that, an average, on average your opt-in, you know, you’re earning, let’s say, you know, $15 per opt-in or $10 per opt-in, well, you have a specific number, you have an actual number that you can work with. Now, does that make sense?
So now, when you’re doing your negotiations with the CPA network, you can say, hey, you know, in the back of your mind, you know that your average, you know, earnings per opt-in is, let’s say, it’s $10, right? You know it, and that might be even on a higher, on the higher side, again, depend on what you’re promoting. Let’s say it’s, you know, let’s say it’s $7 or $8 or $9, right?
So then, you know, you try to negotiate, obviously as low, you know, the lowest dollar possible that you’re gonna pay to the CPA network. Maybe you’re gonna, you know, negotiate a two dollars, and you know, two dollars and fifty cents, or three dollars per opt-in. So that you can, you know, listen, if you can pay three dollars or four dollars to acquire an opt-in, right, and you know that your average earnings per opt-in is $10, right, you can do that all day long, and you can scale it up like crazy, right?
And it’s like printing money. I mean, you would invest a thousand dollars to make ten thousand dollars every day, and then your only question would be, is you know, is, is how many more thousands of dollars can I invest, and how quickly, right, because you know that your return is gonna be there, okay? Make sense?
And you also need to know your long-term customer value, all right? So when somebody enters your funnel, and they become a customer, right, what is your long-term customer value? How much are you earning, you know, how much the customer earning for you, or, you know, making you, over the period of, you know, their lifetime, for example, or maybe, you know, the first 90 days, or the first year, if there is additional products, you’re offering, you’re offering, you’re offering, you’re offering, you’re offering, you’re offering, you know, do they buy that, you know, if you can figure that out?
Now, I know if you’re just getting started, all these numbers might be like a little bit overwhelming to you, don’t worry, all right? This is not something you do right out of the gate, this is something that you track, this is something that you develop, this is something you look at your data, right? And, as you see, this is the, this is how marketers should operate their business, okay?
Most marketers in our industry, unfortunately, they just, you know, they just throw darts, you know, in a dark. I mean, they, they don’t know, uh, they don’t know their stats, they have no idea what their, you know, EPCs are, they don’t know what their EPOs are, they have no idea what their LTV is, all right?
And so, you know, it’s difficult for them to, to, to make it in this game, because, you know, they don’t know, they don’t track, okay? I’m telling you, if you want to be, um, you know, if you want to be big in this industry, right, if you want to build your business to, and take your business to the highest that, you know, most people will, we will not even, you know, dream possible, okay?
You gotta know this stuff. When you know this stuff, right, you can do things that 99 of other people cannot do, okay? And the cool thing is, my friend, is even if you’re just getting started today, right, even if you’re someone who is brand new, you can learn this, you know. It’s actually, think about this, I mean, you know, doctor goes to school to learn how to be a doctor, right? Nobody’s born with the knowledge.
I mean, I, I was not born with, you know, knowing how to market. I, I was not born with, you know, a silver spoon in my mouth, or, or a crystal ball, or whatever, right? I mean, I had to learn this stuff, and you can learn this too. But, you see, you see, most people, most people, they will not take the time to learn this, okay?
And that’s why they’re struggling, that’s why they’re not, you know, they’re, they’re not running their business like they’re supposed to run their business. All about Monday, Monday, Monday, can not go to a field meeting with the government, because, you know, the whole problem, this is so obvious, to get them to tend to black. Now, Mike is not a no brainer, right?
I only have two Internet for years in Massachusetts, but he’s not seconds to business, and they’re not getting the results they want, right? But if you take the time, you say, you know what, Vic, you know, I’m actually, I’m gonna learn this. I’m gonna learn all those other traffic methods, I’m gonna figure out my numbers, I’m gonna, I’m gonna track it, right?
I’m going to, you know, I’m gonna dial into, you know, what is my earnings per click, what is my conversion rate. I’m gonna split test, I’m gonna do, you know, what you’re telling me in the conversion mastery, right, uh, I’m gonna, or capture mastery rather, I’m gonna do that.
I’m gonna split test my landing pages, I’m gonna get, you know, a, a solid number, uh, that I know my landing pages is converting at, right? And then I’m gonna test, I’m gonna, I’m gonna track my, my sales percentages, okay? So out of those people that opted in, how many people are buying, so I will know my numbers.
And then I’m gonna work my way up to being a, you know, to playing with the CPA networks, and I’m gonna take my business, I’m gonna attend, I’m gonna take my business and increase my revenue ten times, okay? There is gonna be a day to where I’m gonna be playing like a pro, and you can do that, okay?
I’m telling you, you can do that, you can stick with it, you can take one step at a time, you know, you go as far as you can see, right, and when you get there, you’ll see how to go further. That’s kind of the, the same approach here, okay? You can know all this stuff, right? Trust me, all right?
So, uh, another thing, number three, healer, golden tip number three, is if you’re going to pay for leads, which I assume you will, you’re gonna pay for leads, which I assume you will, all right, you want to make sure that you only pay for a double opt-in.
Never, ever, ever, never pay for a single opt-in, because they will, they will suck money out of you faster than you can imagine, okay? Never ever pay for a single opt-in, okay?
A lot of these, uh, publishers, they, you know, they’re, they’re scheming, they’re scammy, uh, a lot of them, they will, they will run, you know, uh, you know, some sort of a script, uh, or something, and they will, you know, run some kind of a script, uh, or something, and then they, and they’ll get you like 50,000 opt-ins if it’s a single opt-in, 50,000 opt-ins in an hour, all right?
You'll have to, you know, you'll be with, you know, you will end up with like, you know, a $300,000 bill in an hour, right? If it's a single opt-in. But what I do every single time is I negotiate. If I'm gonna pay for an opt-in, which I always do, I say, look, I'm happy to pay you for an opt-in, but it's gotta be a double opt-in, okay?
So in other words, when somebody opts in, they get an email from me saying, or from my autoresponder saying, hey, you know, you gotta verify your subscription. And the person has to actually check their email inbox. They have to click the link and agree or verify their subscription. And then when they get redirected to that thank you page after their subscription has been verified, right?
That's when the pixel or the tracking pixel fires off for the CPA network. And that's when the action is recorded. Okay? And that's when I pay $3 or $4 per opt-in.
Make sense? So always pay for a double opt-in. Okay? Very, very important.
You wanna make your account manager your ally, okay? Be really, really cool with them. Make them your friend. Now, when you're talking to them, even if you are, you know, even if you're doing this for the first time ever, okay?
You wanna act like you're a player. Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, especially with CPA networks, my friend. I'm telling you this. I'm telling you, you gotta listen, okay?
Never, ever give them a perception that you don't know what you're doing, okay? When you are dealing with like pay-per-click, pay-per-view, you know, traffic, you know, other traffic vendors, traffic agencies, you know, all these other, you know, traffic getting methods, right? It's okay when you're talking to the account manager to tell them, you know what? I'm just getting started, right?
I need your help. It's okay. When you're dealing with CPA networks, okay? You wanna act like a player.
I'm telling you, this is not for somebody who's just getting started and they know it, okay? And so if you're gonna be acting like, you know, if you call them up, okay? And you say, hey, I've got some money to spend, but they start asking you these questions and you're like, well, I don't know. They say, what's your EPC?
You say, I don't know, right? Then they know that they got you, right? They will play you like we will not believe, okay? I'm telling you.
So what do I mean by acting like a player? You know, talk to them like you already have been, like you have been doing this for 10 years, okay? So when you talk to them, just say, you know, just the way you hold yourself, you know, the way you ask questions. And here's a tip I'm gonna give you, okay?
You want to listen twice as much as you speak, okay? You wanna tell them what you wanna do. So usually when I call them up, I say, hey guys, you know, hey, look, here's how I talk to them. I say, hey, look, okay, I've got this offer.
I've got this landing page. It's converting pretty good. It's been tested. I tested it, right?
I've been in the industry for quite some time, made a lot of money. And I'm just looking to take my game to the next level. And if we come to an agreement, you know, if we can work together, I think I can bring you guys something really, really cool that, you know, you can get your guys on. And, you know, and help your publishers make a lot of money.
Okay? But I wanna make sure that we're on the same page, okay? I would like to pay for a double opt-in. Tell me if, you know, tell me what, you know, where do we go from here?
What's your process is like for your particular network? Okay? So basically, it's very matter of fact kind of tone of voice. Okay?
You don't ask questions like, do you think it's gonna convert? You know? Or, you know, what do you think I should pay them? You know?
When I negotiate a price with them, I say, look, I'm gonna pay you $2 for a double opt-in. And most of the time, he's gonna say, oh, no, dude, that's way too low. You know, I'm gonna say, well, what do you suggest I pay? Okay?
Again, you give, you know, you throw the ball in his court and let him come up. And then you negotiate. And of course, he's gonna say like, I want you to pay like $5. And you say, no, I'm not gonna do that.
You know, there is a possibility that, you know, I may do, you know, we set this up on a double opt-in. I might be able to do, you know, 270 or 250. You know what I mean? So you kind of go back and forth.
You start out at the very, you know, don't low ball them. Okay? Don't say like, I'm gonna pay you 50 cents for a double opt-in. Okay?
They won't talk to you. But I'd say, if you start with, if you're just collecting an email, okay? Just an email. And nothing else.
I would say, start with, you know, negotiating, starting with like $2 or $2.50 for a double opt-in on a single email. Now, if you're collecting, if you want to collect an email and like a name and email, then it's gonna be a little bit higher. Okay? If you want to collect an email, name, and a phone number, it's gonna be even higher.
Does that make sense? If you want to collect, you know, their address and all that good stuff for, you know, if you want to do direct mail kind of stuff. Okay? Then it's gonna be a little bit more higher than that.
Okay? But again, depending on what you want to do, you start, you know, you start low and you negotiate from there. Okay? So, just some of the kind of like, you know, a big picture stuff here for you, my friend.
It's actually not difficult at all, okay, to do a CPA campaign. As an advertiser, okay? It's actually not difficult. It's one of the easiest things you will do.
Okay? It's easier than most of the other traffic getting methods. What's really important here is before you go and play this game, okay, you need to understand, you need to have a solid numbers for your conversions. You need to know what your numbers are.
You need to know how much you can afford to pay. Okay? And you need to know, you know, what are you converting at? What's your long-term cost?
What's your maximum value is? All that stuff. When you know your numbers and it's solid convergence, okay, it's consistent, you can go and you can just, you know, based on those numbers, you can crush it. Okay?
In the next video, I'm going to talk about some networks and also I want to show you one resource that will serve you, you know, if you want to check out some of the, you know, if you want to do a little bit of a research for you there on, you know, on what people are running and how, you know, what kind of landing page is converting, what people are paying out, all the good stuff, so you can model that for your business as well. Okay? See you in video number two.
