The $5,000 Blog Post Revealed How To Write Compelling Content That Sells
You’ve been blogging. Maybe not daily, but you’ve published enough posts to learn the uncomfortable truth: writing something on the internet doesn’t mean anyone will ever read it, and even when someone does read it, it doesn’t mean they’ll do anything about it.
Chris Daugherty taught this session of the 15K Formula from Detroit, his wife Jessica running the camera, standing in front of a whiteboard he’d spent two hours covering in notes he refused to erase until he’d shared every one of them. Dave Wood had invited him to teach the content portion of the course for a specific reason: creating compelling content that gets people to take action is the skill Chris’s entire business was built on. A year and a half before this recording, he was a broke, unemployed construction worker in a region drowning in foreclosures and a collapsed building trade. His wife broke her phone, he went online to find a replacement, saw ordinary people selling phones on the internet, and the light bulb went off: he could sell things online too. Soon after, he ran into Dave Wood, plugged into what Dave taught about blogging and compelling content, and was there four months later when Empower Network launched.
As someone trying to get traffic, leads, and sales out of your own content, what you need from this lesson is exactly what Chris put on that whiteboard: why content is the source of all traffic, what the biggest sites on the internet tell you to write, and the communication style that makes people remember what you said and act on it.
Why is content the only real source of traffic?
Chris starts with a question most people never stop to ask: why does traffic exist at all? The internet is content. If there were no content, there would be no internet. Good content is what creates traffic, and every traffic source you’ve ever heard of traces back to that. Even paid advertising is borrowed content: when you run an ad on Google or Facebook, you’re inserting your message into a traffic stream that only exists because of the content on that page. Chris leans on a Bible verse here, “knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.” Once you understand that all good traffic comes from good content, you stop hunting for a secret traffic source. You either create content good enough to draw it, or you stand next to someone else’s.
Content also keeps working after you stop. At the time of this training, Chris hadn’t written a blog post in four months, and his blog was still getting over 300 unique visitors every single day. A post he’d written twelve months earlier, about the non-disclosure agreement from Empower Network’s launch meeting, was still generating emails from readers asking what to do next. That’s the residual effect of doing this right.
What do the biggest sites on the internet tell you to write?
Instead of guessing what good content looks like, Chris reverse-engineers it. Go to Alexa.com and look at the highest-traffic sites in the world, because whatever those sites deliver is, by definition, what people come online to get. As Chris puts it in the 15K Formula, “If good content is what creates traffic, then you find out where the traffic is, and you analyze what kind of content is that, and that’s the kind of content you want to create, because that’s what people are looking for.”
The number one site is Google, and Google’s product is relevant information: real answers to the questions people type in. So your content has to be informative, answering the specific questions your target market is already asking. In this niche, that means traffic, leads, and sales. Next is YouTube, the second-largest search engine in the world, and it proves people want to be entertained, because video engages more of the senses than anything else. Chris calls video the most powerful form of marketing online and embedded one in nearly every blog post, because the combination of written and spoken word kept people on his pages.
Facebook is nothing but social content: people sharing their lives, opinions, and stories all day long. The lesson is to be relatable. Talk about current events inside your niche, share what you actually believe, and accept that some people won’t like you, because the people who are like you will be drawn to you for the same reasons. Wikipedia teaches the next piece: it’s a user-generated encyclopedia, trusted precisely because it comes from peers instead of institutions with an agenda, the same way a jury of your peers is trusted over any single official. Blogging is user-generated content. Your advantage is being a real person, so be one.
The last site is eBay, alongside Amazon, and it settles the question most bloggers get wrong: people love to buy things. There would be no economy if they didn’t. So never feel bad about selling, and in Chris’s words, “don’t ever, ever, ever, ever forget to sell stuff in your content.” Every post, every video, every email ends with a call to action: opt in, comment, share, or buy. And if someone else is selling the same thing you are, throw in a bonus, because the offer that looks a little sweeter is the one that gets chosen.
How do you make what you write impossible to forget?
For the style itself, Chris gives you two pictures to hold onto. The first is reality TV. People watch other real people living out a story they identify with, so document your own journey as it happens: what you’re doing, what you’re learning, who you’re meeting inside your niche. You don’t need impressive results to start, you need a story that’s moving. The second picture is a narrated movie, where a voice tells the story while images play in the viewer’s mind until they forget anyone is talking at all. That’s what your writing should do. Use word pictures and as many senses as you can. Chris’s example: just knowing there are jalapeños in the pizza box makes his mouth water, and that’s the level of experience you want your reader to have with what you describe.
The proof is in the best-selling books of all time. Rich Dad Poor Dad is a series of stories from beginning to end, and the best-selling book in history, the Bible, teaches through parables, pictures, and stories precisely because that’s how human beings actually learn. Chris explains why he teaches the same way:
Now I could sit here and break down step by step, you know, show you how to do stuff or whatever, and tomorrow you’ll forget everything I said. If I give you a good story that’s related to the lesson I’m teaching you, and I drive it home to the point where you’re like, boom, that’s what he’s talking about, you will never, you’ll never forget it.
That moment, when the light turns on and someone finally understands something they’ve struggled with, is the whole game. Bring a reader to one or two of those aha moments and they will always respect you, always come back, and buy from you when you ask. Getting good at producing that on purpose is called copywriting, and Chris ranks mastering communication above nearly everything else you could work on.
What is all this content actually doing for your business?
Compelling content does four jobs at once. It breaks down buyer’s resistance, because people want to buy but are defensive until they trust someone. It makes a personal connection, because people buy from people who feel like them. It conditions your audience to respond: email your list every day and tell them to do something, even something small, because a responsive list is what makes everything else work. And it positions you as an expert, the same way Wikipedia became an authority simply by publishing answers. Link your articles to each other, too, so readers stay on your site for as long as possible. It builds the relationship and tells the search engines people value what you write.
As for what to write about: write about traffic, conversions, leads, sales, and team success, because those are the things your target market needs to get what they want. Chris calls the method results-first marketing. Create some measurable result, however small, then tell the story of it. When he started, that meant spending hours asking friends on Facebook to go like a video he’d entered in a contest. That was the result, and it became the story. He’d surveyed his own email list days before this training and found that a quarter of the people on it had never generated a single lead, so if you can show even one lead, you’re ahead of a huge part of your market and you have something real to teach. And if you have no result yet, cast your vision instead. Chris talked constantly about why he was building: a crushing building debt left behind when his church burned down, and a brother he wanted to send to the mission field. Talk about what you’re going to do, document it in public, and when it happens, everyone on your list watched you do it.
Out of everything on the whiteboard, these are the habits to start this week:
- Blog every day, at first not for traffic or sales but to discover your natural writing style, because you only get good at this by doing it.
- Start making videos before you feel ready, even if you never publish the early ones, and embed them in your posts.
- Put one call to action in every piece of content, because people won’t do what you never ask them to do.
- Email your list daily with something to do, so your audience gets conditioned to respond when it matters.
- Document your story in public, smallest results first, vision included, and repeat it from where you started to where you are now.
The full lesson goes considerably further than what’s covered here: the complete whiteboard walkthrough, Chris’s breakdown of what he emails his list and why, and the extended session on selling inside your content without apologizing for it. This lesson is part of the 15K Formula. The entire course, including this lesson and everything built on top of it, is available for $99 through the 15K Formula course.
Before you write your next post, write down who your ideal customer is and the one question they most want answered, then answer it with a story from your own life and one clear thing to do at the end.

Anyways guys, hey, thanks for coming out. This is Chris Daugherty and my lovely assistant and wife Jessica Daugherty over here manning, actually womanning the buttons and technical stuff, sort of. Well, I'm halfway distracted trying to explain to her how to do it. So, let's just go ahead and get started here, guys. Again, thanks for coming out.
It is 10 o'clock on Tuesday and we are getting ready for the third installment of my, what was it again? And I have made six figures online in my first year, so I guess that's kind of appropriate. And I am covering the things that I've used to do that. Now, I'm feeling kind of fun. I'm feeling kind of funky today.
We were actually on a live stream earlier, hanging out with one of our team members, Stephen Hales, and his lovely wife, Helen, and some other cool people. And we were talking and chatting and just talking about, you know, what it takes to make a ton of money online for like two hours at least, actually more than two hours. And then after I got off there, it's like, I don't know, I just felt drained. And I feel like I'm going to pass out, basically. But don't want to lose this chance.
So I'm going to go ahead and do a little bit of a quick review of what I've been able to do online to cover some of the most important information I've ever come across online that has enabled me to do what I've been able to do online pretty much. And so what all this crazy shenanigans all over my board is, is last week, last Thursday, actually, David Wood invited me to do a training, to be part of the training product called the 15K Formula, which is part of the Empower Network product suite. We did it the first time, shoot, I don't know, a while back. And we're basically re-recording them, covering some of the material as well as some extra stuff.
And he wanted me to get on and talk about creating compelling content that sells stuff and gets people to take action. Because that's really been one of my strong points, one of my specialties, the things that I've made the most money with over my career in network, or not network marketing, internet marketing, which has only been, you know, a little more than a year. But I've done very, very well. And for those that don't know who I am, my name is Chris Daugherty.
I think I already covered that. And basically, how long has it been, dear? I wanted to say a year, but it's been like, you know, 14, 16 months, something like that. Yeah, 16 months. A year and close to a half, right?
We're getting close to a half. Basically, a year and a half ago, I was a broke, unemployed construction worker, never done online marketing a day in my life. You know, didn't know how to, had no clue. Didn't have a Facebook account. You know, I just, I didn't know how.
All I did was construction. My wife broke her phone, thank God. And I went online to try to find her a phone. And I came across this website where people were selling phones online, and for whatever reason, it never entered my mind in the past. The light bulb went off, and I just thought, whoa, I could sell stuff on the internet.
I don't know why I didn't think about this before, you know, because I was here in Detroit, Detroit area, surrounded by unemployment, and, you know, a million foreclosed houses, and construction industry that just, you know, took a complete dive because of the housing crash. And no one could seem to get a job, and it was just, you know, not good for the economy around here. And, you know, I was kind of suffering as part of that situation, and it never entered my mind. I mean, try to do business on the internet to escape where you're at.
You can kind of tap into the global market, and it just never entered my mind. So anyways, so I started to do that, and very shortly after, I ran into a guy named David Wood. David Wood was making a ton of money. He was the top recruiter in his network marketing company, as well as some affiliate programs. He was doing very well in Costa Rica, obviously.
And, you know, it seemed like out of anybody online that I came across, he knew what he was doing, right? He knew what he was talking about. He was getting better results than anyone else. So I thought, I'm going to plug into what this guy's doing. And I plugged in.
I went through one of his courses, and he basically taught us how to create. He taught us how to do a lot of things, but one of the major things he taught us how to do was create compelling content that got people to take action, buy stuff, do basically anything you ask them to do. And that's how he built his business, right? He built it through blogging, through videos, through creating compelling content. That's how he was sponsoring more people in his network marketing company, as well.
His affiliate programs, than anybody else involved in them. So I thought, you know, hey, this guy must know what he's doing. And he did. Four months after that, we launched Empower Network, which was basically based around the principles that he taught me, right, about blogging. Most of you guys aren't in Empower Network, so you know that the number one commitment of the eight core commitments is?
Blog daily. Now, I know a lot of you guys have been blogging daily. And to be honest, I've never disciplined myself enough to actually blog daily. There's been like a few weeks where I actually did blog every day. But if you count up all the days I've been in business, definitely shorter blogging daily.
Now, I don't know about you, but I don't know. I don't know too many other people that can say that. And the reason that is because I paid attention to what I learned from Dave and the things I've picked up over the past year on how to create compelling content that gets people to do stuff. So what I want to do tonight is just share with you some of my ideas, some of the things that I've done, and some of the things I've been taught to basically get amazing results through content. Blogging, video marketing, audio marketing even.
Just creating content. Now, you know, when I first got online and I ran into Dave, and he was talking about blogging, right? And he's like, I'm making all this money blogging. I just thought, blogging? What the heck is a blog?
And how are you going to make money blogging? You know, it didn't like register. And to be honest, right now it still doesn't make any sense. So, I mean, that's, you know, pretty darn good. But when you think about it, you just think, writing stuff down on some website about whatever, how is that going to make me money?
And obviously there's people that write stuff on websites all the time. They're blogging daily, right? But they're not making any money. Why? Well, because there's a way to create content, and there's a way to get traffic to that content, right, that gets people to buy stuff, right?
And some of you are just not doing that. So, you know, just because you write something on the Internet doesn't mean anyone's ever going to read it. Right? Right. And if anyone ever does read it, it doesn't mean they're ever going to do anything just because you wrote it.
You have to be, you have to be, learn how to communicate and how to write content that compels people to do stuff. Otherwise, you know, I mean, you can write all you want, but you're kind of wasting your time. So, I got all this stuff written on this board. And like I said, last week when we were doing the training in the 15K formula, we're actually trying to keep things down to like a minimum time frame. And it's really hard for us to do that in Empower Network.
But, you know, we try. So, you know, they had some people speaking and they went for a long time. And then I was like kind of at the end and I got to share like, I don't know, 10, 15 minutes of what I know and we had to stop. So, I thought, you know what, I am not going to erase all this stuff. I don't know, it took me a couple hours or whatever just sitting here staring at the board thinking, you know, what is it?
What is it that makes my content different? What is it that I've done to produce the results I have with content? And so, I started writing some of this stuff down. And this is going to be by no means structured really or, you know, organized. I'm just going to cover parts of the equation and just the different ideas I have and I've used to create amazing results with content and make a lot of money.
And then I'll erase them as I go, right? So that at the end of this thing, there should be nothing on the board. And first of all, let me just talk about in general. Why content? Why content marketing, right?
If we're on the internet, right, trying to make money on the internet, basically the internet is content, right? That's what it's made of. If there was no content, there would be no internet, right? What creates traffic on the internet is good content. If there's no good content, there's nobody going to that content, which means there's no traffic, which means the whole thing doesn't work, right?
You can't make money because there's not people going places to look at things, right? So the internet is content, okay? So this is an indicator. We should get to know something about this stuff called content because without it, there would be no internet and there would be no traffic, right? Does that make sense?
And I say this a lot. There's a Bible verse that says, knowledge is easy to him that understandeth, right? Once you start to understand what makes everything work, once you understand what the internet is, what makes traffic happen, why do people go places, right, once you get a grasp of how that works, why it works, then you can figure out how to tap into it, how to use that, to leverage that for your own business, right. But until you understand — you don't have to completely understand everything, obviously, to take action — but once you do, it's easy, right? You're not in mystery land anymore. You're not wondering what's the secret strategy, what's the secret traffic source.
When you know the source of all good traffic, you don't have a problem finding out good traffic sources, right? You go to the source and you figure out, how do I tap into this, right? And you know the best traffic sources, obviously, are the places where good content is, because that's what drives the traffic. People are coming for the content. So either you create the content that's really good, right, that gets traffic to it, or you tap into the traffic that other people have created with their own content. That's what happens when you do paid marketing, right? You do paid media, whether it's Google PPC or Facebook PPC or what, you know, all different kinds of stuff, banner advertisements, whatever.
What you're doing is you're kind of finding yourself, inserting yourself, right, and your message, in someone else's traffic stream. But how is the traffic even getting there? It's because of the content on that page, the video or whatever, or even the Facebook updates. Whatever people are on there to get updates, so you're kind of stealing that traffic as they're there to watch their friends. You don't talk about nothing, you know, you have some little image on the side that gets their attention and they read it, like, oh, maybe, right?
But you wouldn't be able to do that unless the content was there in the beginning. So what I'm going to talk about is content marketing, and there's a bunch of different pieces to this, and not by no means is this going to be exhaustive, or is it going to cover everything, you know what I mean, but it'll give you a good start in just some ideas that you can use in your content. And when you're creating content, when you're thinking about content, that should help you just be more compelling, be more persuasive, get people to actually want to read the stuff that you're writing, or making videos, or whatever. And if — and this is how I do everything, right — I pay attention to what's working for other people, you know I mean, why is it that that's working? What's going on there?
And I identify that. Then I just keep that stuff in the back of my mind as I'm doing whatever I do. You know what I mean? So as I'm talking about these things, write some notes, make some mental notes about certain subjects and points that make sense, that stand out, that you can see can benefit you in your business and what you're doing. And as you're going about your day-to-day business, just recall these things as you're doing those activities, like creating content, watching creative videos, that kind of stuff, and try to insert some of these ideas into what you're doing.
And you'll find that after a while, as you start to use these principles, it just becomes natural. You don't have to think about it anymore. Like, I haven't thought about this stuff in months, right? And to be honest, I haven't written a blog post in months. But I still get well over 300 unique visitors to my blog, to my site, every single day.
I know that's not enormous or anything like that, but I haven't opened a blog in four months, right? And that's just my blog. I've got videos out there. I get tons of views to that. I think I got, what, I got 40,000 views to my videos.
I got a video that I got, like, over 6,000 views to. So, you know, if you create good content, you get this residual traffic going on, right? I get people joining my business, signing up, buying stuff from me from content that I created literally a year ago, right? Like, on this last live stream, we talked about, I don't know if there was one before that, we talked about the launch meeting for Empower Network and how we were there inside of this hotel doing this secret NDA meeting, right? And getting people to fill out this NDA, send it to us, and then we can give them the link to the actual live stream we were doing.
Well, like, last week, right, I actually had somebody send me an email saying, I filled out the NDA, now what? How do I get access to the Empower Network? And we're talking about something I put together and wrote 12 months ago about the NDA and Empower Network. And I still got people finding my blog post and writing me asking, you know, I got the NDA filled out, now what do I do? Well, of course, you just join.
I should have went back and updated it, like, okay, you don't need the NDA anymore, just hit the button. I need to go find that stuff. So, anyways, back to the board. I should get to, I need some kind of, oh, you're on my right. All right, so, let me get down to this.
Now, some of you guys have heard some of this, heard me talk about some of this stuff before, and that's fine, right? We all need reminders. I need them from time to time. But some of the stuff you haven't heard, and I'm sure you probably can't read half this stuff because it's my chicken scratch since it's really small.
So, let me talk about good content, right? What type of content do you want to be creating? What is your, what do you want to have in your, what is the style that you want to have? Now, of course, we all have our own style, right? And one of the most important things that you can do, and what I'm going to tell you to do, is blog daily, right?
And not really for, at first, not for the traffic, and not for the sales, right? Because you will get those, right? But some of you guys know, because you've been blogging for a while, they don't just naturally come just because, right? But what you need to do more than anything is you need to discover your natural writing style. You need to discover your natural way of creating content, because more important than anything, and I'll cover this later, but you need to be yourself.
Right, and some of you guys don't even know what that is, right? And you've been trying to be somebody else your whole life, so you're kind of confused, and wait, who am I really, right? You need to figure out who that is, right? Let your personality come out through your content, you know, share your unique opinions, your unique beliefs, whatever. Be yourself.
You need to, and the way you can, the best way you can do that is just to start creating content. The best thing you can do in your business is just create content, right? Because you need the experience. You need the practice before you actually get the results, right? You need to start doing it so you can discover your way of, your natural tendency, your natural style, and then tap into that gift that you have, because you all have it.
And it's a little bit different for everyone here, but, so, you know, as far as style goes, find your style, but you also want to incorporate just what good content is, what makes it up, and what the stuff that gets the most traffic on the Internet is. So, you know, that's kind of what good content is like. Now, if you go to Alexa.com — you only had to go there, but if you did — and you look for the top sites in the entire world, right? There's, you know, they got a list of, I don't know, 50 or whatever, but it's a little bit of an indicator to you, showing you what is actually getting traffic, right? And like I said, good content is what creates traffic.
So, if you find out where the most traffic is, that'll give you an indicator of what good content is, right? Because it's kind of reverse psychology, but it's true, right? If good content is what creates traffic, then you find out where the traffic is, and you analyze what kind of content is that, and that's the kind of content you want to create, because that's what people are looking for, right? I mean, that's what creates traffic, right? You give people what they're looking for, and when they come on the Internet, they're looking for a certain kind of content, and that's the kind you want to create.
So, if you go on Alexa, or just, you know, find out what the highest traffic sites are, I'm going to tell you what they are right now. You can find out. The highest traffic site in the world is Google, obviously, right? Most people don't know how to use the Internet, period, unless they start at Google, right? They think that's like the gateway to everything online.
It kind of is. Yeah, Google's cool. We like Google. They make us lots of money. Google is my employee, right?
It's not the other way around. Google works for me. But, so most people in the world, if they want to find out something, right, where do they go? They go to Google. Now, what is Google?
It's a compilation of good, relevant content. At least that's what they're aiming to do, right? That's why their algorithm's changing all the time, because their product is good, relevant content. You know, so if someone searches in, puts in the search engine, you know, something they're looking for, and a bunch of non-related nonsense pops up that, like, is not what they're looking for, it's not relevant, it's not good, it's a bunch of spammy crap, like, you know, ten super-spun articles that don't even make sense or read very well, maybe proper English, you know what I mean? People would stop going to Google looking for searches.
I think you guys have seen the commercial recently, I've seen it online, where these guys were, I think it was California, doing a survey, you know, and they're like, you know, do a blind test to see, you know, which search engine's better, you know, which search engine produces the best results, Bing or Google. And everyone was like, oh, I like these results, you know? And they're like, Bing won, right? And I don't know if that's really true. They might have been staged, they might have paid them.
Yeah, you see the tables in the background have, like, ah. They're, like, giving them gifts. Gifts and stuff. I don't know, I think this is... But either way, the point is, is that customers, or searchers, right, which is the search engine's customers, searchers, well, actually, it's really the search engine's product, is searchers.
The customers are the advertisers, but nevertheless, without the product, they don't have the customers. But the searchers are looking for results that answer the question, or the thing they typed in. They want to find their answer, right? So the people are looking for good content.
But what is Google? It's information. It's all informative, right? You're looking how to do whatever. Or, you know, where's the best whatever.
Or, you know, I mean, show me where someone's, you know, whatever Alabama is. You know what I mean? It's all search queries. People are asking questions, right? And they want relevant answers.
They want the answers to the things they're asking. So Google, the most traffic site in the world, right? This is, right? It's the information age, all this stuff. The point of the Internet is an information exchange, right?
So if you're going to create content, I mean, you can, you know, tie one up and carry on for a while, and that's further down here, but you do want to have some information, right? Some informative stuff. Some stuff that answers questions that people have. You tell me what your target market is, right?
And that will tell you what type of information you need to produce, right? In my market, right, is the make money niche, right? People are looking to make money online. People are looking to do online marketing. You know, yada, yada, yada, that stuff.
So what do I need to do? I need to think about what information those people, that target market, is looking for and give them that information, right? Answer their questions. What questions do they have? Well, if I was someone coming online to try to figure out how to make money, I want to know how to make money.
How do I make money? How do I make money online, right, and I get this list — I'm breaking it down, well I know, and we covered this a couple weeks ago — okay, so, make money online, I need traffic, leads, and sales, right? So then you talk about how to get traffic, leads, and sales, right? And obviously there's a bunch of other stuff that you can cover as well, but you get the point: figure out who your target market is and create and produce and put out information that is answering the questions that they would have, that is relevant to them, that is helpful to them, that will get them what they want, right? Because that's the job of anyone selling anything, right, is to give your customers what they want. And if you don't know what your customers want, you can't give it to them, and you ain't got a business, right?
So if you haven't figured out yet what your customers want, now would be a good time to sit down, take, you know, close everything off for like a day and just sit there and think — and don't just sit there, I mean, you think, sit there and think, who is my target customer, who is my ideal customer, and what is it that they want, right, and think about that, right. And as you go forth in business, always be thinking and mindful of how can I get these people what they want, right? Because if you do that, if you feel a need, if you answer the question, if you give people the ability to get, or just give them, sell them, whatever, what they want and what they're here for, you'll never have to worry about making money again, you know what I mean. You find the need and you feel it. This is just business 101, but for some reason when people get online they get, you know, all crazy and they forget stuff like this.
But guys, this is a business, stop, you know, don't think it's not, it is a viable, healthy, legitimate business. And the reason there's a bunch of people who are not making money in it is because they don't see it as a business and they don't think of it as a business, you know what I mean. They're not going after it like a regular business, and it is a regular business, okay? You need to find people that need something and then give them what they need. All right, so information — don't forget to be informative and to give good information in your content, you know I mean.
We like I said, we'll get into stories and why they're so important and that kind of stuff, but you know, you definitely want to give information, and relevant information, because like I said, that's really Google's job, is to serve up good relevant information. All right, what is the second most traffic site in the world? Well, really Facebook is, but we're going to skip that around — the second largest search engine in the world outside of Google is YouTube. Now obviously YouTube is owned by Google, and Google obviously knows what they're doing, so they're doing the same thing with YouTube. But why is there so many people on YouTube, why is everyone wanting to watch videos on YouTube?
Well, it's because YouTube videos, or videos in general, are entertaining, right? And not only entertaining, they can be informative, but they engage more of the senses, you know I mean. Video is the most powerful form of marketing and communication that there is online, okay? So I'm going to encourage you guys, create videos. Some of you guys want to die when I say that, and to be honest, I don't like making videos all the time, right, but I know that I've made more money with my videos than anything really, you know I mean.
My blog posts, why do they get so much traffic, why people sit on them and watch stuff and read stuff and buy stuff — because I embed videos in my blog posts, right? The combination of the written word and the spoken word through video is just the most important thing for me to do, and I think that's the most dynamic, powerful thing. So if you're not creating videos yet, start doing it. I don't care if you publish them, I don't care, you don't have to put — if you don't want to put them on YouTube you don't have to, but if you do, just put them on there. No one will see them for a while until you start getting some traffic, but just like writing, right, you need to get practice, right, before you get good at anything.
You're going to be bad at it, right, seriously, I mean I'm still bad at all kinds of stuff. But why have I gotten the results I have? Because I didn't wait till I was good at it, because you'll never be good at it until you actually do it, right. You don't get one before the other. You have to have the experience in order to be good at what you do, and you don't get this experience unless you actually do it.
I know this seems like pretty elementary and simple, but you'd be surprised how many people get stuck thinking, you know, let me get like, you know, like right now obviously I'm covering some information that's going to be helpful to you, but you didn't need this information in order to take action and start getting the experience you need to get results, okay? You could get results without this, but this is going to be helpful to you, and you're going to get results — this will help, okay? So YouTube is entertaining, right, and that's why there's so much traffic to it. That's why I got videos that have millions and millions of views on it — one video, millions of views. I mean, some of these guys that are YouTube celebrities, right, they'll make a video, they'll have a million views in a week or more.
That's the power of entertainment, of video marketing, it's very important and it's just what people like, right? So again, what are people doing? They're going to YouTube to get not only information but entertainment. So make sure not only in your videos but in your writing, in your presentations if you're doing them, in your emails, you're entertaining, right? So I'm going to take that off, I can talk about that for a while, but I'm going to leave it at that because we got a whole board to cover and Jessica's not going to let me stay here for too long.
Just keep going, okay, all right. So next site, right — like I said, all you got to do is go on Alexa.com and look for the most traffic sites and you'll find out what they are, and then you can, like I said, just think about this when you're creating content, you're doing whatever you're doing, you know I mean, integrate these aspects in your content. Next most traffic site is Facebook — right now it's actually above YouTube, but it switched around. Next traffic site is Facebook.
What is Facebook, right? It's just social interaction, social content. To be honest, there's not any really good information, right, it's just people hanging out, you know, updating on their life, their story, sharing stuff that they like or whatever, it's just being social, you know I mean, hey check this out, I think this is cool, or, you know, status update talking about what they're doing today or what they did last week or whatever, pictures, you know I mean. All that stuff, people want social interaction. And what's most important in all this is what this does — when you make your content social, you include social engagement, talk about yourself, about what's going on with you, tell your story, right?
Because that's all — what is Facebook's new format? It's your timeline, right? What is that? It's just a story about you from the time you were born till now — corny, from the time you're born, but it is, it's just your story, and that's what people are — they're on Facebook all stinking day watching everyone's story go by, right, picture. I mean, it's a waste of time, it is, but that's just what people like and what they're doing. So give it to them, right?
You want traffic, give them what they want and be social. Now, I used to, when I first learned this thing about being social and social content, you know, I just thought, okay, you know, put some like buttons on my blog, and I mean, like, tell people to share stuff or whatever, which is good, you want to encourage as much social interaction as you can, and you can, because really that's free traffic, right? If you compel somebody to hit, like, a little link comes up on their Facebook wall or Twitter or whatever they do, and it says, you know, so-and-so liked this — well, they have, you know, two, three, four, or five thousand friends, and they're on their you know, crazy droids and watching the feed go by all day, they'll be like, oh, my friend liked that link, I'm going to check that out, and they're going to watch it. That's more traffic to you.
So you do want to encourage that, but you also want to make sure that you're doing it in a way that's relevant to what's going on right now, right? That's what we call social content — there's other words for it, but anyways, like what I do is I stick with stuff going on, current events, right, not just period, but inside of my niche, right, inside of the make money niche, inside of my community. I talk about what's going on in the community, you know what I mean, so people realize and see that, hey, you're in the know, you're plugged into what's going on, and you're like an authority on, you know, what's happening, right? You know, everybody, you mention them, you talk about them, and they're like, oh, you know, it's this whole group, it's like we're all high school kids, you know, we're all going to the same school or something, we all know each other. So you want to talk about things going on right now, right?
You know, there's stuff going on inside of Empower Network, like, you know, three, four people last month made over a hundred thousand dollars, and they're like, oh my god, I'm going to do this, I'm going to do this in a month, right? I mean, that's like a story to talk about, you know what I mean, and just talking about it and being — talking about current relevant events inside of people's life and what they like, right? They're like, cool, you know what I mean, he's like one of me, he knows what's going on. I mean, if like sports games are going on and that kind of stuff, right, you can write a blog post about that stuff, sharing on the wall people that are into that stuff — which I'm not really — but some people love that stuff, football and that kind of stuff, they watch it and they know all the teams and that kind of stuff. I couldn't tell you one of them, the ones in Detroit I could tell you, that's about it, but you know what I mean, they're going to be like, oh man, he knows what's going on with this.
And it's like that's something you have in common. So like I said, what's important is that you make yourself relatable, okay? The way you do that is you share, you know, the personal things about you, right? You'll be social, you'll be open to talking to people about yourself and about, you know, stuff that you're doing, and you're going on, and people see that, and they're like, oh wow, he's a real person, right? And he likes stuff and he talks about stuff and he knows about stuff that I know about.
Talk about, like, so, you know, we got that common thing that creates that bond, and I was like, yeah, this guy is super cool, I want to read his content and watch his videos, I like it, right? Which is, you know, that's why the Facebook button isn't anything else, it's a like button, right? Because when you're reading social, when someone finds something that they relate to, that they like, think, oh that's cool, I like that too, they hit like. Do you want me to like you? Not everyone, right?
And that's something that you need to remember: don't be afraid to be who you are, share your opinions and beliefs, I don't care what they are, okay? If you're a Christian, tell people, don't be ashamed of it. If you're whatever else, you know, tell people, don't be ashamed of it, because other people that are Christians or whatever, you know what I mean, they're like the Tigers, you know, poor souls, you know what I mean, they're going to be like, oh man, it's super cool, he's like me, right? And if some people, you know, they like the Broncos or whoever those other people are, and they're like, I hate the Tigers, you know, they might think that guy's a... you know, he likes the Tigers, but everyone else from Detroit is like, I love that guy.
So not everyone's going to like you, just get over it, right? It's not even a matter, and the sooner you can accept that and just, you know, be who you are, the sooner the other people that are like you, or like people like you, will be attracted to you. They'll pay attention to you, they'll want to hang out with you, they'll want to hear from you, they'll want your information, and, you know, you'll eventually get the sound stuff. So anyways, next highest traffic site that is actually in a different category is Wikipedia. Now what the heck is Wikipedia, I mean, I still don't really get completely what it is — it's a community encyclopedia, basically, you just get to make up what things are, right?
So what the main point of it is, it's user generated, right? It's like a definition of everything, it talks about all kinds of stuff, right? But it's not like, you know, from some university or some corporation trying to sell you on stuff and control your mind, right, it's from the community, people inside the community. That's what the internet is. It's real people, or it's supposed to be anyways.
That's why Google's always trying to cut out spammers, right, and corporate nonsense, right? They want people, people want real interactive content with other real people. So, Wikipedia is a massive database of information that is sometimes entertaining and social because it's from what? Your peers.
It's from their peers, it's from real people. And you want to be — that's why I said be yourself — because you want to be perceived as being as real as possible. Not just — don't just be perceived, just be real. And you don't have to worry about the perception, you just will, okay?
So, be real, and then, like I said, what's great about this is this is the essence of blogging, right? Blogging is user-generated information. User-generated content. And thankfully, that's what people want. Otherwise, there wouldn't be an enormous amount of traffic going to Wikipedia every day.
Like it's some kind of authority. But why is it some kind of authority? Because it's not skewed by whoever writes it. It's not skewed by someone within, you know, some government or some university with an agenda trying to steer you a certain way, right? It's real people that really don't have any skin in the game, some of them might or whatever.
But for the most part, you know, I mean, we trust it as being honest because it's from our peers. Why is the judicial system set up with a jury trial, right? Because, you know, sometimes the judge has got an agenda, he could be paid off. You know, sometimes the state of Michigan or whoever who's going against you, you know, they might have some kind of agenda to, you know, make sure this law gets solidified or whatever.
But your peers, they ain't got no reason to be manipulative and trying to send you to jail for something you didn't do. You know what I mean? So that's why the peer judgment — that's why the jury trial is so powerful. Well, same thing, right?
Online, we want our peers to give us the information. We don't want to be skewed. So that's great for us, right? Because that's what we do. We create user generated content.
Now, this last one is one of my favorites, and it's the reason why this whole thing works. Without this, we'd just be getting a bunch of traffic and we'd be broke, which a lot of, well, some of us are, right? And it's because they don't incorporate this part of their content, right? They try to give all this value and, you know, create real, informative, entertaining, social content that's user-generated, but they never tell people, buy something! You know what I mean? It's all just like, oh, isn't this great information?
And it's like, yeah, this is great information, man, but if you're not saying something to buy, I don't know if I can buy nothing. So, the last highest traffic site in the world, in a different category, is eBay. Right along with it is Amazon. But what is eBay? It is a website of people, regular, real people, right?
Sometimes there's big corporations in there, too, but for the most part, it's like me, right? And my friend down the street, or whatever, they got stuff to sell, and they're selling it, right? And they all get ratings, you know? Like, okay, this guy's got five stars, or whatever, he's got some good feedback, right? So that's why we have, what, testimony videos?
We have people, you know, commenting and liking stuff. That's why we have those social buttons, so it gives people the perception and idea that, oh, wow, other people thought this was good, right? That someone gave a testimony that this guy knows what he's doing, so, hey, I'm gonna buy stuff from him! Right? eBay is a social, user, interactive selling platform.
So, remember, guys, people do want to buy stuff. I mean, like, I love buying stuff. Jessica loves buying stuff. She doesn't always love me buying stuff all the time.
It's vice versa, right? But we both do love to buy stuff in and of ourselves, right? It's like one of my favorite things to do. It's so much that, you know, I spend all my money, and I'm broke.
I just love to buy stuff. And you know it's true, right? That's why there's an economy, right. If you wouldn't like and want to buy stuff, there would be no economy, because there'd be no trade. There'd be no people going, I'm buying all this stuff, without people buying stuff.
There is no economy. So never feel bad or think that people don't actually want to buy stuff, because they do. If you had all the money you'd ever want, right, wouldn't you just about buy everything you looked at? Not everything, but you know what I mean. Like if you've seen anyone sell stuff online that was related to you and something you're interested in.
For instance, right, if you're trying to make money online, right, and you see this person talking about how they make money online, or this course they took to make money online, or this way they're using to make money online, this tool they use that makes them a bunch of money online, you'd want to buy it, right? The only question would be how much does it cost, right? And if it's something you can afford, you're like, yeah, I'm going to buy that, right? Right, so people do want to buy stuff, so don't ever, ever, ever, ever forget to sell stuff in your content, right? That's the whole point.
You're using all this informative, entertaining, social, user-generated content to get the traffic, right, and people come in loving to read and watch your stuff, but then, you know, if you don't sell anything, you can't do that for too long, and people are going to suffer because they don't have your great content, right? Trust me, okay? Trust me. People want to buy stuff, right? They buy stuff from me all the time, and half the time I don't even have to ask them, right?
But I do ask, right? I don't really ask, I tell them. Tell them to buy stuff, right? So, you know, in your content...
That's why there's a Buy Now button on eBay, right? It's not all about the bid. Buy Now. People love that thing.
If they can just buy it now, right, they like to bid too, because they do like a deal, right? So here's the deal, okay. When you're going to eBay, you're trying to buy stuff, what do you search for?
You search for the thing, then you filter by price or whatever, and you go into each one of them. You read the description, right? You see, you know, shipping terms, whatever. You look at the rating. Is this guy a cool guy?
Is he a dork? You know what I mean? Or whatever. And then you're like, does he got any extra bonuses, right? Sometimes they'll throw in free shipping and they'll throw in an extra trinket or whatever.
You know what I mean? So if yours just looks a little sweeter than the next guy's, right, they're like, I'm going to buy this guy's. You know how many times I bought online, it was like, okay, I'm going to buy this thing. So I just Googled it, right? Man, click on it.
Let's see who's got the best stuff. When I first started, right, I got kind of suckered into this whole bonus thing. But it's got some validity, right? And for whatever reason, and I know why, but people love the bonus thing, right? So you can throw in some bonuses on anything you sell, right?
You're going to sell more of it, because if there's anybody else selling the same thing, you know, people are going to be shopping around and be like, who should I buy it from, right? So you create some bonuses. They don't have to be extravagant or nothing. You can make any kind of bonus.
You can take this video, embed it on a site, right, on one of your blog posts or whatever, and then be like, you know, when you join me in whatever, or you buy this, or you opt in here, you know what I mean, I'm going to send you this video — this guy makes $5,000 for blog posts. I'm going to send you that video, right? That's a bonus.
And people will eat that up. Costs the same. I'm going to buy from him, right? Or the other way around. So that kind of stuff.
You know what I mean? You want to sell, you obviously want to sell stuff. So always, always, always in your blog posts, in your videos, in whatever you're doing, when you're creating this content that creates traffic, right, and people always come back to you because they like it, right, always put a call to action to do something.
Opt in here. Hit the like button. Hit the share button. Leave a comment. You know what I mean?
Get people doing stuff. And you've got to tell them or they won't do it. You know, they're not just going to figure out what you want them to do unless you tell them. So just tell them, right? Opt in here.
Click like, share, whatever. Buy this, right? So, good content — one of the best parts of good content is you sell stuff. And what you want to do is you want to challenge them to get what they want, right?
Because if you're creating the right content that addresses the right market, the right target market, right, you are selling stuff, you're promoting stuff that helps them get what they want, right? Otherwise, you're not in business. Like I said, if you haven't thought of who your target market is, do that. Figure out what they want.
Find stuff that you can sell, or create something yourself that you can sell that will help them get what they want, or will just give them what they want, right? And you create this content, create this video, whatever, and then at the end, right, you challenge them to get what they want, because you know they want this, right? You know you want more sales in your business. You know you want more money so you can do whatever you want to do with it. You know, pay for your kid's college tuition, take vacation, you know, just be able to stay home, not have to go to work.
You know that's what you want. Don't deny yourself, right? This is going to help you get it. Click the button and buy it, right? Stop holding back and not letting yourself have the thing that you want, right?
That's what you need. You challenge them to get what they ultimately want. You're going to help them, you know, satisfy themselves, right? And, you know, fulfill their dreams and desires. You're going to help them do that, right?
And some people, you know, they suffer, right? They keep themselves back from things that they want, and some things that people want aren't good for them. So, I mean, by all means, don't give that stuff. But something that's actually going to be good for them, that's going to get them closer to their desired goal in life, to their outcomes that they want — it's your honor bound, right?
It's your duty. It's your duty to compel them to get over the crap in their head that, oh, I can't afford it, and oh, I can't, whatever, oh, no, is it going to work, and blah, blah, blah, blah. You know what you have is good. You know what you're selling is going to help them. Well, it's your responsibility to challenge them to buy it.
Okay? So sell stuff. All right. That is my pitch on good content, right?
And what does good content do? It brings you traffic, right? And like I said, you can create yourself or you can borrow from other people. And I do both.
All right. Now, to further drive home the point of all that stuff I just said — and Jessica said that you need to hurry up and wrap this up. Well, I'll just speed it up. Yeah.
It's already been 45 minutes, okay. So what you need to think of is all this stuff, right, that I just described, and you need to combine it together, and that's the kind of content you want to create. Now, what I want you to do is I want you to think reality TV.
Okay? Why do people watch reality TV? Because really, it's stupid. Yeah. Usually, it's not that informative.
Sometimes it is. Like, I'll watch The Apprentice and Shark Tank, right? Those are like reality TV shows, but they actually try to act like I can get a lesson from it.
And I do, right? You know what I mean? So that's the informative part of this. Some of them, not so informative, but nevertheless, they're very entertaining.
Right? And they're real people, right? Living out some sort of story, right?
Maybe it's something that you fantasize you'd like to live, right? Maybe you want to live on a remote island and survive off eating pineapples and whatever. So you watch Survivor. You know what I mean?
Maybe you've always wanted to just travel the world and do some crazy stuff all over the world. So you watch Amazing Race. You know what I mean? Maybe you want to be a successful billionaire entrepreneur. So you watch The Apprentice.
Whatever it is, you know what I mean? You have these things you want to do, this sort of fantasy thing, and so you watch these reality TV shows. Maybe you want to be a famous actor, or you just think it's really cool how they live.
You know, so you watch, what's that crazy thing called, the Kardashians, or one of those other ones where it's just basically taping famous people's lives, right? People want to watch this stuff. So think reality TV.
When you create your content, you want to integrate your story. You want to integrate the stories — like I said, the social stories, the stuff that's going around in the industry, the stuff that's going around all around your target market. Or speak about stuff that's relevant to them. You know, people that are being successful, having success, making a bunch of money. That's really their goal.
Right? You put that stuff out there. You make videos about it. You know what I mean? You display, right, part of your life.
If you're getting results, or part of somebody else's life, they're getting their results or whatever. But you want to create a story and put out that story. So think reality TV show, right? People, right, they see your success.
They're inspired, right? So they watch your videos. People watch my videos. I don't know why.
But, you know what I mean? Because I've integrated this stuff in there, right? And I'm being myself and I'm putting it out there and I'm letting people know how my journey's going, right?
And you don't have to have amazing results to do this. I mean, just whatever you're doing, start documenting your story. Start telling people where you're at, what you're doing, how you're thinking, you know what I mean, the direction you're going in. Like I said, interact with the people inside of the industry that are getting results, or just other people inside of the industry that are trying to do the same thing.
You know what I mean? Interview them. Talk to them. Interact with them. Create content about them.
Right? People are interested in what's going on inside of this niche. So, reality TV show. And I could talk about that for a while, and you could probably think further into it than I could.
So, remember, think reality TV show. Think narrated movies. Okay? So, now I'm talking about — you can do this in video, but when you're writing, okay, what we're going to do here is we're going to transition from the style of writing to actual writing. Okay?
This is where the rubber meets the road. And basically, you know, when you're selling something, right, because that's what you're doing, I mean, in a way, when you're creating content, you're transferring belief, right? You're transferring your belief about something to somebody else. You're conveying ideas that get people to realize certain things and then take action on things.
Right? And what you want to do more than anything inside of your business, right, and some of you guys, this might not be your strong point, right.
But if you can get decent at it, you can make a ton of money. We're — I'm talking about copywriting. And some of you guys already have preconceived ideas of what that is, and I don't want you to kind of throw that in here, but it is what I'm talking about.
Right? You need to master communication. And it doesn't have to be speaking, you know, like a professional speaker, because God knows I'm not one, right, that's not the point.
You don't have to be perfectly polished or anything like that. You need to be yourself, right? And I am not that perfectly polished guy. And I'm fine with it.
So I'm being myself, right? And you can do that too. It's not about the perfect tone or the perfect presentation or having things super organized and outlined, but it is about communicating ideas.
You need to learn the art of influence, the art of communicating, the art of getting people to hear what you're saying, to follow what you're saying, to hang on every single word and not want to go until they read the whole thing.
And then they're like, I want to go read something else, you know what I mean? When you get someone to your blog or to your video or whatever, you want them to be there as long as possible, right? That's not really why I create long videos, but it does kind of help.
Because people just hang out. Let me ask you, who do you have the best relationships with in your life? The people you've spent the most time with, right? I spend more time with my wife and my kids than anybody.
I have a better relationship with them than anybody, right? Because we spend time together. We talk together. We communicate together.
So it's the same thing with your target market, your prospects, your customers. And really, they should be your friends, right? They should be peers. They should be people that you respect.
And that respect you. You want to get them, right, reading your stuff, watching your videos, listening to your audios, as much and as long as possible. Because the longer they're there, the longer they hang out, and the more time that you've invested together, the more time they've invested in getting to know you, the stronger that relationship's going to be and the greater that bond's going to be. So, like I said, master communicating, right?
Speaking to people. Getting them to understand what you're saying. Getting them to have these aha moments. Getting them to see the picture of what you're doing. So, like I said, think of a reality TV show, but also think of narrated movies.
And I don't really think too far into this, besides, you know, if you've ever watched a good movie that starts off with a guy in the background starting to tell his story, right, and he's, you know, when I was 15, I was hanging out with the boys, we were playing baseball or whatever, and then you see a picture of the boys playing baseball, right, and he starts to tell this story of this movie. And after a while, he's talking in the background the whole time, but you kind of lose track of the fact he's talking, it's just like he's just saying it and you're taking it in, but you're not thinking, oh, he's talking now, you know what I mean. You're so engrossed in the picture, right?
Of that, that's being portrayed in front of you, that goes along with this narration, you can't let go, right? You're just into it. You're following this thing. That's what you want to do when you create content. When you're writing stuff, pull people in with word pictures, with stories that get their mind thinking and imagining what you're saying, right?
You even tell them, imagine that, you know, you were this or that, or imagine me sitting here doing this or whatever. I mean, get them thinking inside of their mind and starting to draw pictures with the words that you're saying. It's so key to communicate. So, narrated movies, just think about it, okay?
Think about what I'm saying, and think about when you've watched a movie, right, that was a narrated movie, right? So it was pictures and this storyline going on, and someone in the background talking about it. You are that person in the background talking about it, and you're trying to get your readers, your video watchers or whatever, to start putting these pictures in their mind — that's the actual movie, right? Okay.
So, another thing that you can do to get good at writing — which is really the same for content, also video as well, but it's really the same, whatever one you do — it's the same ideas, right, it's effective communication. What you want to do is you need to start reading best-selling authors. There's a — like I said, just like traffic, right — pay attention to why so many people are going to these sites.
If someone sells millions and millions of books, well, one, they're a good marketer, which is a good indicator that they're a good communicator, but also their books are good, right, and they're the kind of books that people actually want to read. Otherwise, they wouldn't be a best-seller. I mean, some of them could be best-seller, not best-read, most-read, but at the same time, if you sell several million books, you're going to have a lot of people reading it. Well, what can we gather from that, right?
Read those books. Find out what their writing style is, how they communicate, what they're doing.
Okay, anyways, how are they writing? What is their style? What kind of writing are they doing? And what you realize, more than anything, is they're telling stories. Why — and I say this in everything I talk about — is your story is more important than anything, right?
Not only your story, but other people's stories related to what you're selling, what you're doing, or whatever. You need to master the art of storytelling, okay? And you don't have to master it before you do it. Obviously, just start doing it, and like anything in life, there's no course you can take that'll really give you — I mean, it'll be helpful, like I said, if you do this kind of stuff I'm telling you, it'll be helpful, right?
And it'll help you get better skills at storytelling, but the best thing you can do to be good at it is to do it, right? Start thinking about stories. Start, when you listen to other people speaking, creating content, selling, whatever, you know, listen in for stories that they use that are effective in selling stuff, or communicating an idea, log that in your brain and use that in your stuff. There's no new thing under the sun. It's not like, I mean, you could — if it's your own unique story, well, obviously you can use that, but you can also use other people's stories.
There's nothing wrong with that. So, read best-selling authors. Pay attention to their writing style. Pay attention to how they communicate and try to get something from it. Now, everyone's a little different, obviously, and you'll find, as you read best-selling authors, they're just good books that have sold a lot of copies.
I mean, you'll find one or two, or different authors, that are more geared to your personality, more geared to your writing style, or whatever, you know, draw from them as much as you can. One of them that comes to my mind is Rich Dad Poor Dad, right? It's a New York Times best-selling author, you know, 50 times over, and he's got a bunch of different books that have been best-sellers. Why is that?
I mean, if you have read Rich Dad Poor Dad, you know why, or you know what I'm talking about. Oh, the whole book, from beginning to end, is nothing but a series of stories of him telling how he grew up, and the lessons he learned, you know, the stuff that his rich dad had him do in order to learn the lessons that he did, to be financially independent, to be financially literate, to be, you know, rich. So it should be an indicator, right? Why did he sell so many books?
Why do so many people read it? Why is it such a best-seller? Why do so many people talk about it? Because it utilizes this storytelling principle in the content. Because that's all a book is — just content.
Right? Just like a blog post. A little different, but same idea. They're communicating through words. Right?
The whole thing, story from beginning to end. Now, of course, the best-selling book in the world, of all time, ever, is the Bible, right? And specifically, the King James Bible. It's a little different than these new ones, but it sold more copies than any other book in the history of the world, period.
Right, it's the Bible. Now, the reason, obviously, it sold so many, is because it's the Word of God for one thing, but it is the most effective communicating book in the world. Now, there's a lot of people who are like, oh, look at how it says, or what it says, and there's a lot of reasons for that. But if you pay attention to the Bible, right, it's full of stories from beginning to end.
I mean, there are truthful stories, stuff that actually happened, but sometimes it's not actually something that happened. Sometimes it's just a picture or an allegory or a parable or whatever, but most of it is actually historic, actually happened. The Bible is full of stories, okay? And it teaches ideas through stories. You know, if you go, like I said, go through the New Testament, Jesus taught a ton of parables.
What was he trying to do? He was trying to convey an idea to people in a way that they could understand it, in a way that they got it, in a way that once they got what he was saying, it would never leave them, right? Now I could sit here and break down step by step, you know, show you how to do stuff or whatever, and tomorrow you'll forget everything I said. If I give you a good story that's related to the lesson I'm teaching you, and I drive it home to the point where you're like, boom, that's what he's talking about, that's how it's related to something that's familiar to me, you will never forget it.
You'll never forget it. And the whole Bible is like that. And why is it like that? Well, because God made us, right? You know, it's funny, I look out through like the sales world and the communication training world and all that stuff, and they're talking about all this stuff, right, in effective communication, right?
And then some of them kind of mock the Bible, be like, yeah, it's just trying to sell you stuff or whatever, because it utilizes the same principles that they use to be compelling, to convey ideas, to have influence over people. Well, it's not that a bunch of people got together and learned sales psychology and put that in the Bible. It's that God put the Bible together and He knows how to effectively communicate to human beings because He made them. The whole stinking world was created so that you can understand and know who God is, right?
The family, the father, the son, you know, just all kinds of different pictures in the Bible — a husband and wife in the New Testament, you know, it says, you've forgotten the exhortation that's speaking to you as unto sons: my son, despise not the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you're rebuked by Him. God is our Father if we've been born again. God is our Father, right?
And how do we understand what that means unless we have a father-son relationship? That's why God made fathers, in a relationship, so that we can understand something physical, right? This thing that we've experienced — once He's made us and He says, I'm your father, and you're a father, or you have a father, you go, boom, oh! That's what He meant. That's the kind of relationship He wants to have with us.
That's, you know, I mean, that's the relationship He does have with us. And that stuff is all throughout the Bible, the whole thing. Like I said, you look around in the world and you start looking at what is natural in the world, you know, how things happen. A tree, a seed is planted and grows, and all this different stuff. Throughout the whole Bible there's tons and tons of examples of this: the physical world all speaks of something spiritual, right?
Of a spiritual truth, a spiritual nature, a spiritual subject, right? And why? Because that's how God created the mind. That's how God created man, so that they understand things through relatable circumstances. Something they've experienced, something they've lived, right?
They can grasp onto that, and when he says, well, that's like what I'm talking about over here in a different subject, you totally understand what he's saying, because, oh, I get it, I get the relation. So, you'd like to say you need to be a master at storytelling, but not just storytelling. Like I said, you need to master communication on a deeper level than just speaking, right? Because like I said, I'm not necessarily the best presenter, but you need to learn how to communicate with the heart or the spirit of man, right?
And like I said, there's this unwritten language that most people don't talk about because they don't know it exists, right? But if you look all throughout history, right, obviously the Bible, right, men that have wisdom, that were effective teachers, effective communicators that portrayed ideas, that made movements, right — how did they teach? How did they teach?
How did they speak? How did they communicate? It was all through pictures. You know, they taught a lesson, like Aesop's Fables or whatever it's called. You know what I mean?
What was the point? They're always saying, well, here's the moral of the story. And why do they teach like that? Because that's how human beings learn. That's how they learn on a deep level, right?
There's this, like I said, there's this unwritten language, right, a spiritual language, that when you get something inside of a picture like that and the light turns on, and you go, aha, that's what he means, that's what he's talking about — and you can relate that to something that you've experienced or something that you've seen or something that you're familiar with, that thing never leaves you. You'll always know, then you understand it, okay?
Then you understand it, when you can get it like that. When you look at Proverbs, there's all kinds of stuff, and they're talking about the words of the wise and their dark sayings, and, you know, to understand a parable and the interpretation thereof, and all this stuff. The reason they teach like that is because, like I said, if we just told you straight up, this is how it is, right, you go, oh, okay, and then you'd forget, right?
But if I gave you a word picture, and I painted this picture in your mind, and then I related it to a certain truth or certain subject, that aha moment will happen, and I'm telling you, it's a spiritual thing. Your mind is enlightened, and you'll never forget that. And if you can do that for people, if you communicate in that way and you have an idea and you bring people to an aha moment one time, they will never forget it. They will always remember it, because people don't talk like that anymore.
People don't communicate like that anymore. And when you're able to help people have a breakthrough by finally understanding something on a deeper level that they've been struggling with forever, you know, they'll always come back for more and they'll buy stuff from you, okay? So, yeah, so in the Bible verse it says, a wise man's eyes are in his head, okay? I got eyes obviously in my head, but there's more eyes in my head. When I close my eyes I can picture the exact same thing that's in front of me because I've just seen it obviously, or I can imagine myself in Costa Rica, or in Florida, or in Hawaii, hanging out on a hammock sipping lemonade, looking at the sun, watching the waves, you know what I mean, looking at the sand, you know, looking at my beautiful wife's smile next to me and just enjoying life.
I can imagine all those things in my head, and what you want to do with your content, you want to bring people into their head and start imagining things in their head, right? That's their eye, it's in their head, right? A wise man's eyes are in his head. If you really want to understand something and have wisdom about a certain subject, you need to get it inside. You know, it was David that was talking about God, he said, thou desirest truth in the inward parts, right?
You want to understand it, it's got to be inside. So anyways, parables, types, pictures, allegories, and relatable stories that are familiar to most everyone and teach a hidden truth, right? That's how you want to communicate. If you can, just practice — when you write an email next time, write a story that's relatable to the subject at hand.
You know what I mean? Right? An experience that you had that you thought, wow, this is kind of like my business. Or this is kind of like, you know, getting a job. Or whatever, whatever you're talking about.
Think of ways you can tell a story that's related to something that you're talking about. And I'm telling you, when you write like that, when you communicate like that, people will love it, because you're actually getting through to them.
Right? That's how we get through to people. Through things that they can relate to. And if you get good at that, that's called copywriting. And if you can use that in your messaging, in your content, in the stuff that you're creating, in sales copy, that kind of stuff, you'll make more money than you can imagine.
So, like I said, bring people to an aha moment. Like I said, most people don't ever experience that. So if you get them to that point where they're like, bing, the light turns on, you do that once or twice to somebody, they'll always respect you. They'll always realize that, hey, you know something and you can do it. You can help them get a better understanding and grasp for this thing.
So I'm going to erase all of that. So the point is, master communication. You know what I mean? That's just, listen guys, like I said earlier on this other hangout I was on, if you guys are just here for a quick buck, I mean, what in the world? You know what I mean?
You might as well pack up and go home. You know what I mean? I know some of you guys are just like, I just need to pay bills. You know what I mean? That's fine, right?
But, I mean, if you want to do it, if you're going to do it, you might as well do it right and do it well, right? And I'm not saying wait until you're perfect or anything. I'm saying, the way you learn is to take action. Because like I said, we all have a spirit inside of us, and as we go through life, we pick up on stuff that our rational mind cannot pick up on. Right?
It just can't. You only process so many bits of information at a time, whereas our subconscious mind, which I think is your spirit — actually I know it is — it picks up on everything all the time. Millions of times. All the information, all the stuff, all the experiences you've had, all the webinars you've watched, all the books you've read, all the blog posts you've ever read, all the audios you've ever listened to, it's picking up all this information as you go along and as you're moving forward, right?
And you're trying stuff. You know, your subconscious mind, your spirit, right, it picks up on stuff and it figures things out. It's a problem solver, right?
It figures out, okay, this has got to change, this has got to whatever, I can do this now. But you'll never experience that learning and understanding until you're actually taking action and moving forward and doing something with the stuff that you learn. Right? That's why you need to blog daily. That's why you need to create content.
The best thing you need to do is to start doing it, because it's going to take a while until you actually figure out your natural writing style and you get decent at it. If you integrate some of this stuff I've been talking about into your content, well, you'll get good at it fast. Right? And people will want to read your stuff. And that's what you want.
You want them coming back for more. So, I already said this, very important, one of the most important things — I'm not going to be here all night.
But be yourself. Okay? Whoever that is. Just be yourself. Right?
And obviously, we can all use some improvement. Right? But that's, you know, that's a given. Right? We need improvement.
Right? So, if we're ourselves and we're open enough to just share the fact that, hey, you know what I mean, things ain't always perfect. I'm not the best at everything. You know what I mean?
I'll tell you right now, I'm not the best communicator. I'm not that bad, but I could be better, right?
I've said stupid stuff. I've written dumb, dumb things. You know, whatever. It doesn't matter. You know what I mean?
I get hung up on stuff. I get depressed sometimes. And I feel like just moping around doing nothing. Right? We all go through that stuff.
We're people. We're human beings. Right? We have a sin nature that wants to destroy us at times.
We're self-destructive. You know what I mean? We all go through that stuff. So, when I say be yourself, it's okay. Right?
If you're open and honest with the fact that you don't know everything. You know what I mean? Because the people that are watching you, listening to you, reading your stuff, will realize, oh wow, they're not perfect. This is wonderful. That means I have hope.
Right? If you present yourself as knowing everything all the time and being perfect and having complete understanding, you know what I mean, they're like, well, it's you, and I can't do that, this guy is some kind of crazy genius.
Anyways, be yourself. Share your opinions and beliefs. Don't be afraid to speak the truth. And some people won't like it. So what?
You know what I mean? They'll go like someone telling them lies. Right? I don't want people to lie around me. That's freaking scary.
That means they're not afraid to lie to me. Yeah. You know what I mean? That's not the kind of people I want to work with. So be yourself.
And so what is the point of this? I mean there's a lot of points, obviously. But what does content do? This is a few things content does. Content, when you're creating content, creating videos, you're breaking down buyers' resistance.
Right? Because everyone has, you know, they're resistant, right? They're thinking, because there's people out there scamming people, ripping people off. You know what I mean?
We've all been burned one time or another. But people are just trying to sell us stuff. So there's like this natural defense and resistance to buying stuff from people. But people do want to buy. Right?
They're just trying to find someone that they trust, they know they can trust, and they feel comfortable buying from. So what is the whole point of content? Why do you want people to engage in your content and be there as long as possible, to be constantly giving them more of it to consume? Because after a while, they get used to you, they're relatable to you, they're like, oh wow, he's like me or whatever.
What you're doing is you're breaking down buyer's resistance. That's why you need to email your list if you have one. If you don't have one, you need to get one. Right? What do you email your list?
Just anything — well, not just anything, but seriously, one of the best things you can do is create good, compelling, informative, entertaining, social, user-generated content to sell stuff, and email it to your list. You want, what do I email my list every day? If you're blogging every day, that's what you email them, unless you're blogging dumb stuff that no one wants to read.
You know? You want to blog about stuff that's relatable, right? That's current, right? Stuff going on. Blog about, tell your story in your blog and send it out to people.
Breakdown that buyer's resistance, right? What it also does is it makes a personal connection. We already covered that a thousand times, and it has something to do with breaking down buyer's resistance. But you need to make the personal connection. The reason that you got a bunch of people on your list and no one opens your emails anymore, no one clicks on nothing, is because they think you're like some corporate bot.
You're not even a real person, you're like this spam machine that just sends out random messages about whatever. It's not even from you, you know what I mean, your name's not even on it or whatever.
It's not personal. You want to make a personal connection. You want to connect with people. Speak to people's emotions. Speak to people's hearts.
Speak to people's experience. We all have things in common. Not everyone, but most people, right? They had a mom and they had a dad. They might have brothers and sisters.
A lot of people have a family. They have a spouse. They have kids or whatever. That's common, right? If you talk about those things and your experiences with them, most of the population can relate to that.
So there's that personal connection made, right? If you're from the north, you can talk about where you're from. If you're talking about a certain city, you can talk about that or whatever. If you like sports, you can talk about that. That makes that personal bond and connection with people that tells them, oh, this person's real.
I can trust them. You know what I mean? Because they're like me. Who do you trust? You trust people like you unless you're, you know, a low-down cheat and you know it.
Then you don't trust people like you and you shouldn't be in this business, right? You should go do something else. I don't know, rob banks or something — I didn't really mean that. Income disclaimer, legal disclaimer below.
I'm not condoning robbing banks. But seriously, you need to make a personal connection. And what also content does, right, it conditions your audience to respond. Because what are you doing in every blog post, in every video, in everything you do? You are telling people to take action one way or another.
The best thing you can do to your list is to email them daily and just tell them to do something. I don't care what you tell them to do. Go watch a video. Go hit like on this thing or whatever. Fill out this survey.
You know what I mean? Fill out this form. Click this link. Whatever. Email daily and tell people to do stuff.
Because what are you doing? You're conditioning your audience to respond. The more responsive your list is, the more money you'll make. Okay? So condition your audience to respond with content.
When you write blog posts or you get videos, send that stuff to your list. Have them watch it, and then tell them to do it. The more you can keep people doing stuff, and they're like, this is cool, I like all this stuff they're telling me to do — when you tell them to buy, they're going to be like, okay, let's do it, because they're conditioned to respond.
So condition your audience to respond. And what else does it do? What else does content do? Creating content, compelling content.
What does it do? It positions you as an expert. Right? You can't write about stuff without acting like you know about it. Now you should know about it.
But just the fact that you wrote about it gives the perception that you know about it. Right? What is Wikipedia again? It's a user-generated encyclopedia. Does everyone that writes in Wikipedia really know what they're talking about?
No. But is it perceived that they know what they're talking about? Yes. They're an authority site. People go to Wikipedia before they go to Dictionary.com or Encyclopedia.com or anything else.
Why? Because they're real people sharing information that they apparently appear like they know about. Right? So by default, because you made a blog post, because you made a video, because you did a live stream, right, I sound like I know what I'm talking about.
Am I positioned as an expert? Well, I hope so, you know, because of that, because you do that automatically in the minds of your audience, and it should be rightfully so, you are positioned as an expert. Right? So what happens?
Not only are you conditioning your audience to respond, you're conditioning your audience to the fact that you are positioned to know what the heck you're talking about. When you say something, it's true and it means something and they can take it to the bank. Right? So that's why you create content about stuff that people need information about and present it in such a way that shows you know what the heck you're talking about. If you use these copywriting skills, storytelling, to convey these truths that you're trying to convey, and you give people that aha moment, trust me, you are an expert.
Right? And people will come to you for counsel, for ideas, for inspiration, they'll trust you. Right? And that's what you want. So position yourself as an expert.
Alright. So like I said, one of the things you want to do is you want to keep people engaged. You want to keep people in your content as long as possible. I remember Dave — I was talking to Dave a little while back, and he's like, dude, every time I'm on your stinking site I get lost for like two hours, because I'm watching this post, then a video, I've never watched another one, you can't leave.
And that's what you want to do. Right? And not only is this good for customer interaction, and it gets people to break down buy-in resistance and want to buy stuff from you, and just builds that relationship, it's actually good for your search engine rankings. If you guys are trying to do SEO, which is a way, obviously, to get traffic through content, you know, I mean, having people on your site for a longer amount of time gives Google the indication that you are an authority, because people obviously enjoy consuming your content, otherwise they wouldn't be there for two hours. Right?
So they're like, well, obviously people like this stuff, we're going to put that up in our search engine. So a way to make sure that happens is, obviously, just create good content that gets people drawn in and wanting to read, wanting to watch, but also link to other articles inside of your content or inside of your videos. You know what I mean? Mention another video of yours, or mention a blog post that you wrote about this event, and say there's a link in the description or whatever. Get people moving to other parts of your content so, like I said, they stay on your site as long as possible.
So in your articles, link to other ones — it keeps people on your site as long as possible. Alright, so we got one more row of stuff. Now let me ask you just to make sure I'm on the right track here. Is this helping anyone as far as content goes? I mean, I know a lot of you guys are blogging and that kind of stuff.
Does this make sense? I mean, are you getting some of these things I'm trying to tell you? Do you already know them or whatever? I mean, is it helpful? Do you think you can use this stuff to make more money with your content?
If you can just leave some comments in the comment thing on YouTube, and of course, as always, hit the like button. There's a like button around here somewhere underneath the video. Hit like, and the guy that's out there in my audience that always hits the dislike button — please stop watching my videos, it's annoying. There's always one guy. There's always one guy.
It doesn't matter, I got like 500 likes on my video, there's that one guy that always hits dislike. What is up, dude? Seriously? I mean, come on, why are you even here watching? You know, go bother somebody else.
Stop hitting dislike on my video. But the rest of you that enjoy this and appreciate the stuff I'm sharing, please hit like, leave some comments, let us know that it is helpful, that it's useful, that you had some breakthrough aha moments or whatever, and there we go. You got to hover over it. Okay, very good. Thank you guys.
And of course, if you're here, you should have already done this, but if you haven't, or if you're watching the replay, right, make sure you hit subscribe to this channel. Right? It's probably below the video. It might be above it. I always get this confused.
It's somewhere. If you haven't subscribed yet, hit it. If you have, it'll be a little green check mark or something. Actually, you already subscribed so you don't need to again. But if you haven't, do that now.
Right? So then the next video I make — like sharing earlier, I always wanted to skip this session, although I didn't want to, because I know this is just great stuff and it can be very helpful. And listen, if you guys get this, this is what I made my money with. You know what I mean? Creating compelling content that gets people to do stuff.
This is how I did it. Right? This is how I made most of my money. $5,000 for blog posts. Very good information.
If you pay attention, if you take these concepts and you think about them, keep them back in your mind as you're creating content, as you're marketing, that kind of stuff. But seriously, even though this is good, I almost wanted to skip it to go over what I'm going to talk about next week. It is super exciting, and trust me, you don't want to miss it. So make sure you hit subscribe to the channel, right? And when I make the next video, or even when I'm done making this one, you'll get an update to let you know that I uploaded a video and you can go watch it.
Right? So in case you're at work or whatever sometime and you missed some of our live streams, you didn't miss some of our video trainings, you'll get notified when it gets uploaded to the channel. Okay? So hit subscribe if you haven't already. Love you guys.
And I think that's it. So let's go on to this last row, and then I have something to share with you guys that you should be pretty excited about. So anyways. Alright. So we talked about the style of writing.
Right? Style of writing. We talked about — let me try again, I need to look at the hangout one, I don't know how to get there.
Sorry. Come on. Okay. My head was blurry. There we go.
Okay. So we talked about the style of writing. Right? We talked about effective communication that gets people to understand and communicates on a deeper level the concepts and the truths you're trying to communicate. Right?
Get good at that. And just remember that this isn't like some mystery science. This is really how men are communicated with. Right? God set it up this way.
So don't fight nature. This is how we are made. Right? If you want to effectively communicate you need to learn how to communicate through stories, through pictures. Get people to draw those pictures in their head and create word pictures in your communication.
It doesn't always have to be like that. It could be an actual story. Right? And people are just imagining the story as you're going through it. Use as many of the senses as you can.
Right? So talk about how things smelled when you were there. How they looked. How they felt. All that stuff.
How they tasted. Right? You made some food and it was just like the best tasting thing ever. Describe stuff. Describe stuff in detail so that people get that idea.
They get that picture. Right? And they see it in their mind and they almost experience it. You know what I mean? Like when I eat hot peppers and hot stuff all the time.
My wife buys me pizza all the time with jalapenos on it. And I'm telling you, just knowing that there's jalapenos in the box, right, my mouth starts to water. I can already imagine eating it. That's what you want to do to the people you're communicating to.
You want them to be there with you. You want them to get what you're saying and experience it with you as much as possible. All right. So, question is, what do you write about? Right?
We know the style of writing. We're supposed to be informative, entertaining, social, and all that stuff. We know that we're supposed to use stories and pictures and all that kind of stuff in our communication. But what the heck do we write about? Right?
This is a good question. And like I said before, depending on your target market, which most of ours are the same, you need to figure out what people want, right? Talk about that stuff. Talk about helping them get the things they need to get what they want, right? And what do people want and need?
Good question. In our industry, right, to get to where you want to be, to live your dreams, right, because ultimately we're not really here to be internet marketers, you know what I mean, we just want to be able to live a life of freedom.
We want to be able to accomplish our goals. We want to be able to do whatever we want to do. You know what I mean? And to do whatever we want to do, whether it's buy a nice house for our family, whether it's to take our family on vacation, whether it's to, you know, whatever, pay for school for our kids, or give to our church, or travel the world, or whatever we want to do, help people make money, you know, whatever.
Whatever that is, it requires money to do that. Just the world we live in, right? We have an economy because people want things, and the medium of exchange is this thing called money that we apparently think is worth something. So that's what we use, right? You need the money to do whatever it is you want to do, right?
Even if you're living without anything, with no job, not getting income, and just going out and serving people, you need money to do that. I mean, you gotta eat, you gotta travel, you gotta stay places, whatever. So, in our industry, what we do, the way you get money — and listen, okay, this is very important — the way you get money in this industry is only one way.
Can you guess what it is? Give me some comments. What do you think it is? How do we get money? There's only one way.
One way to get money inside of this industry. You gotta hover over it to see if it's right. We're not getting anything here. Must be on a delay. Come on.
Someone tell me. What do you guys do to get money inside this industry? Anyways, I don't know, it's updating or something. Oh, there they are. There they are.
Yes! Sell something. Give value first and then ask for it.
Get people to give it to you. That's right. You need to get people to give you money. And usually, for people to give you money, you have to actually give them something worth what they're giving you or more. Right?
That's what we call selling stuff. In order to get money, which gets you what you want in life, you have to sell stuff. Right? Now, two sessions ago in this series, I covered what? How to sell an unlimited amount of anything on the internet.
Right? How to make a fortune selling stuff on the internet, exactly how to do it. If you haven't watched it yet, go back to videos in the feed or whatever on my channel. Watch that video. It breaks down exactly how to sell stuff on the internet.
So, what were the components? What do we need to sell stuff on the internet? Well, first off, we need people to sell stuff to. Right? And how do we get those people to sell stuff to?
Well, we need traffic. Right? We talk about what creates traffic is good content. Right? Now, you can either create your own content, that's good, that gets traffic, or you can borrow other people's by placing an ad or a banner or whatever next to their content, or as far as Google goes, or a search engine.
Place a little PPC ad next to it, or Facebook. But the point is that you need traffic to get the sale. You also need leads. Right? We need traffic.
You need traffic, but you need that traffic to convert to leads. If you're getting traffic, but no one's opting in, you're stuck. Right? So you need the leads. Right?
Because most times, when you're trying to sell something, the first time they see a sales presentation or some information about something you're selling, they don't buy. They need multiple exposures, so you need to capture that lead so that if they don't buy the first time they see your sales video, which is what you need to sell stuff, you can send them back there. You can send them to a different sales video that sends the message in a little different way that gets them to understand what you're saying. And then, of course, in our industry, we usually deal with teams. We have network marketing, affiliate marketing, whatever.
There's usually some other people we're working with. We need team success. That's one of the things that we want or need in our business. And then ultimately, like I said, we need money, we need our team to make money. So what do you write about?
This is what you write about. You write about traffic, right? Because that's what people want and need if they want to be successful in online marketing. You write about conversions, because there's people getting traffic but they ain't getting leads. What's the issue?
Conversions. The same thing. People are getting leads but they're not getting sales. What's the issue? Conversions.
So you talk about conversions. And more importantly, one of the most important things you can do is you can get conversions and you can show your results. The fact that you got conversions — now you're an authority. Now, obviously, he knows about conversions because he got them.
You know what I mean? So you talk about those things. Those are the stuff you write about. You write about personal stuff. You've got to have a little bit of a mix.
Write about personal stuff to relate to people and that kind of stuff. But you want to write about the results you get. Results in what areas? The areas that anyone cares about, that everyone needs to be successful, to get what they want in life. You hear what I'm saying?
If you're selling something to your target customer, target market, which in our case, most of us, it is people seeking to make money online, offline, whatever. Trying to make money selling stuff. So what do they need to get? Why are they doing that? Because they want something.
How do they get that? They sell stuff. How do they sell stuff? All this stuff. So you get traffic, talk about the traffic.
Take pictures of your traffic. Write a blog post. Make a video about the traffic you got. Maybe you used a certain source. You don't have to reveal it.
But you could say this: I got all this traffic and I'll tell you how I got the traffic if you opt in here. Now what does that do? It gives you conversions. Not only conversions but leads.
Now you've got this elusive thing called leads that everybody needs if they want to be successful on the internet. Everyone, they all need it. And you don't need as many as most people think you need, but you do need them. But either way, everyone thinks you need them.
So talk about them. You get leads, or you get some traffic. And anybody can get traffic. You can get traffic a thousand ways. If nothing else, you can get traffic by begging people to go to some site.
It's kind of pathetic and I don't suggest doing it all the time, but if you wanted to, you could just say, hey man, just do me a favor, go to this site, hit the like button, whatever. When I got started, that's what I did.
I created a video and I hit people up on Facebook for hours on end saying, hey, can you go to my video, can you hit like, because I was in a contest to see who made the best video. I did what I had to do to get that initial result. This is what I call results-first marketing.
Focus on creating some kind of measurable result before anything else. You're building there. You know you'll get there. If you create the story, the story doesn't have to start with making thousands of dollars on your first day, it could start with something as simple and basic as traffic. It doesn't even have to be your own traffic, but I'm suggesting that it is.
Get to traffic. Create a measurable result. Tell people you know how to get traffic. If they opt into this page, you'll show them how to get traffic. Now you've got the leads.
Now you can create a blog post, a video, or whatever, talking about getting leads. How you figured out how to get leads. You've got 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 leads in a day. How many people don't get one lead a day? Listen, I took a survey with my list.
I sent out a survey earlier this week. It was Tuesday. Recently.
And I asked a bunch of questions. I asked where people were at in their business. What are the biggest things they're struggling with? You would be surprised. I guess I wasn't that surprised, but it was sort of shocking.
Right? 25% of the people on my list had no list at all — meaning they've never gotten a lead at all. Okay? So if you can get one lead, you're 25% ahead of the game.
Right? And that 25% of people that have never gotten one lead, and you can demonstrate and show that you got one lead, two leads, three, five, ten leads, they're like, sign me up, tell me what you got going, I want to get in on this. And what do you tell them once you get the leads?
Buy this thing. In Empower Network, right, we use the Empower Network capture pages to get leads. So what did you do to get the leads? What did you have to have to get the leads? What do you need in the capture page?
So you can position Empower Network, or whatever in the world you're promoting, as what people need to get the results that you have. Right? So if I'm talking about making money online, what am I going to say? Listen, I'm making awesome money online. It's awesome, whatever.
If you want to make a bunch of money online, you need to get what I'm using to make a bunch of money online, and that's the Empower Network. And listen, guys, if you're watching this video and you haven't got the Empower Network, what in the world are you waiting for? I mean, do I got to flash the checks again? Do I got to flash the checks? It's all blurry.
But come on, guys. $45,000? I've never made this amount of money in a year in my life. And I got that check at an event a few months back in Atlanta. I made tons of money here.
So what am I going to say? If you want to make money online, get the Empower Network. How do you get an Empower Network? You go to joinwithchris.com. Chris with a K.
Join with K-R-I-S dot com. Right? And I'm going to tell you, if you're not in Empower Network yet, you know what I mean? What are you doing? Seriously.
The information we share, the resources that we give, we have all the tools that you need to make a ton of money online. So just get in, right? You're going to learn stuff here that you'll never learn anywhere else. This is where I learned everything I know, pretty much, either through Dave Wood or through the Empower Network, basically everything I know.
The Master's Retreat, the Inner Circle, I break down some stuff in there. I'm talking about some of the stuff I'm talking about right now. It'll give you the information you need to be successful online. So get in Empower Network. Join with Chris with a K.
K-R-I-S. K-R-I-S.com. $25. All it takes is getting in. So, how do I get up on that?
The point is you need it. Right? Look, this is what I'm saying. As you leverage your results to sell stuff, or to get leads, or whatever you want. Now, once you've got the sales, right, this is like the ultimate goal of the money, right?
Now people will listen to you. Right? They're like, he's got money. You know what I mean? And what are you telling them?
Well, buy stuff. You know what I mean? I've been buying stuff. If you want, give me my results, right?
Because I'm getting these things and I'm writing about them. So that positions you as an expert. People see, oh wow. And you tell your story from where you started to where you're at now, all the time. You repeat it and repeat it and repeat it.
And you bring this story from I was here, right, which is somewhere where they're at, or have been, or whatever, something relatable to them, and you say, I came from that and I learned this stuff, I plugged into this thing I'm selling, and now I'm here. Therefore, if you want to get from where you're at to here, you need to do what I did in the middle and get this thing, right? And this is how I learned to do it. At that point, once you have the story, you can sell stuff, or once you've sold stuff and made money, now you can just keep leveraging that and writing about that.
It never ends, because you're always making more money, you're always making more sales, you're always getting more leads, and you just keep talking about it because that's what people want to hear about. Right? Obviously, you throw in personal stuff, you talk about your family and that kind of stuff, because people want to enjoy time with their family, right? They want to go on trips, they want to go on company-paid trips, they want to have the freedom to do what they want. So you talk about the fact that now that you found this great business and you sell all this stuff online, now you have the freedom to do what you want, to hang out with your family, to go on vacations, blah, blah, blah, all that stuff.
You know what I mean? And people are like, darn, that guy is living the life that I want to live, right? And he was where I was. So, you know, two and two gets put together, I think I can do that too. And that's exactly what I did.
The second week I was online, I watched David Wood speak from stage, telling his story about how he went from being a homeless man, right, living in Hawaii or whatever, to making all this money online. You know what I mean? He doesn't seem extra special. I mean, you know what I mean, he was a homeless dude.
I can do this. And I bought everything. I've been buying everything ever since. And I've been following this guy, right, because he did all this stuff. He created compelling content.
And he spoke in stories and communicated truths to me that I didn't get before. And he enlightened my eyes about subjects like this, right? And because of that, I'll always pay attention. I'll always listen to him. I'll always follow him in what he's doing, because he made that difference in my life, right?
And I realize he's just a person like me. He's just another person like me. He just might be a little further along in some things, right? Well, that means I can get there too. So, anyways, that's what you write about, and you tie all of this.
Like I said, when you talk about travel, conversions, leads, sales, of course, team success — once you start making money, then you start focusing on helping your team make money, right? When you start helping other people make money, it's a whole other ballgame, because it's not just you getting the money, right? I mean, you can sell a bunch of stuff, whatever, make a bunch of money, and get a bunch of people to buy stuff, going like, hey, I use this thing here to make this money, but there comes a point where it's like, okay, it's cool he can do that, but what about the average Joe, or someone that doesn't have a list? And we all know that we were all average at one point and we all didn't start with a list and all this stuff.
We all started knowing nothing or whatever, but when you get to a certain point, people think, oh, yeah, he's been in the industry for 20 years, blah, blah, blah. That's when you need to create success within your team, right? Help your team get the success that they need and start promoting those results, because once you start showing that not only can you do it, but you helped other people do it, they're like, oh shoot, other people, right, it isn't just this guy, he's actually helping like anybody.
And showing them, they did what he told them to do. They bought stuff and now they're doing the same thing and making money. Something tells me this guy can help me do the same thing, right? So that's when you start getting team success. Always, always talk about that, always promote that. And obviously that helps your team when you promote it, right?
Always promote your team's success. And when you talk about all this stuff, right, you do it in style, using this communication, but then you tie it all into a call to action, right? Like I said, tell them to buy stuff, otherwise they're not going to know, right? Tie it all into a call to action to either opt in, buy stuff, upgrade, or interact, right? Comment, like, share, whatever.
And, like I said, as far as Empower goes, right, you can do all this, and then you just show your results, or even someone else's results, right? If you're not getting the results yourself, it's fine. We have a million stories inside of Empower, you can use my story, right? I went from a broke construction worker to do what I'm doing today, I can get 2,000 leads at the push of a button whenever I want to, blah, blah, blah, all this cool stuff, right? You can show my results, and say, guess how he did this?
He used this system, therefore, buy this system, right? Or you can say, hey, this guy did all this stuff, made all this money, he did an in-depth interview inside of this marketing system, it's called the Inner Circle, right, where the people that are making tons of money share all their deep, dark secrets, and I listen to it, and this is what I learned, and guess what? If you want to get this whole audio, it's like two hours long, as well as a whole bunch of other stuff that just teaches dynamite stuff, get into the Empower Network, buy the Inner Circle, or if your teammates haven't upgraded yet, man, you need to go in there, listen to that stuff, write a blog post about it, send an email about it, about, man, I just listened to this killer audio, I'm telling you, if you get what they're saying, you make so much money, blah, blah, blah, and then you tell people, if you haven't got the Inner Circle yet, you better upgrade, right? That's how you get your team to upgrade. Like I said, call to action, opt in, buy, upgrade, interact, show your results, and position Empower Network, or whatever the heck you're selling, as a way to get what they want and to get the results that you're showing off, right?
I mean, we're kind of showing off, people want to see results, right? They're from Missouri, they say show me, and show them, you know what I mean, because there's plenty of results to go around. All right, I'm going to erase all this stuff. Does that make sense, guys?
Like I said, I know some of you guys have been on some of my trainings before, and I talk about some of these things, but I don't think I've talked about all of them in one training session. Does that make sense? Helping anybody? Good. Now, like I said, don't just listen, don't just hear, take action, right?
The best thing you can do is take action right away, create some content, create a blog post, create a video, email it out to your list, share it on Facebook, send it to your team, tell them to upgrade, whatever. So again, when you first start, you can start with the smallest result and just track it, then you step your way up the ladder. But if you have no results, right, or maybe you're struggling, you've been trying to get results for a while, you're not getting them — listen, if you're here, you're here for a reason, right? You have a vision, you have a desire, you have a dream.
Cast that vision in your content. Always be talking about the stuff that you want to do, that you're here to do, that you're going to do, right? What do I talk about? I talk about the fact that I'm here — one of the major reasons I'm here, why I even started this whole thing, is because my church burnt down, and there's a massive, but it's pretty massive, you know what I mean, $270,000 debt, and in our church, there's not too many people working, there's not a lot of money going on, right?
Most people are below average income, you know what I mean? There's really no possible way we're going to pay this thing off if we keep going the way we're going. It's not going to happen, right? So I was looking for a way to make more money than normal, right? More money than I could possibly spend myself, that I dream — my goal, what I'm going to do, is I'm going to make enough money to pay that completely off, as well as my own house, because I didn't realize I had some debt on the house, right?
I'm going to pay this thing completely off, right? And my brother, he's a missionary, I want to help him, right, fulfill his purpose in life, what God called him to do, send him out to the mission field, you know what I mean? Those are the things I want to do. I want to support the work of God.
I want to help other people, right? So, in your content, in your videos, in your blog posts, always be talking about what you're going to do, right? Not what you want to do, what you're going to do, and write it down, document it, put it out there, tell people this is what's going on, and I'm telling you, when it finally happens, it's over. Everybody on your list, everybody who's been following you for however long you've been doing this stuff, that's been listening to you talk about this thing, how you're going to do it someday, and then they see you actually do it, it's, I mean, it's a big deal, right? You're going to inspire so many stinking people, people are going to believe in you, because you believe in yourself enough to take action consistently enough to get what you want in life.
And if you're like, I knew I was going to do it, I've seen how I was going to do it, I did it — now, what do you want to do? What do you want to do in your life? I can show you, I can help you, I can teach you, get the things that you want in life, right? People believe it, because it's true, right? So cast your vision.
You might not have amazing results right now, it's okay, right? Talk about the results you're going to get, talk about where you're going, talk about what you're doing this for, and people that want to do similar things, or they just like, man, they just wish that I'm going to reach my goals, I'm going to do this stuff, gives them hope, gives them inspiration, and people that inspire people — if you are an inspiration to people, you give people hope, you lead the way for people in life, they will follow you. They will, okay? So you might not have all the results you want right now, fine. Be confident, and move forward in faith, know when you're going to get there, and people will follow you.
Alright, so cast your vision right there. Also, talk about, if you're selling something, Empower Network, whatever, you know what I mean, talk about the success others are getting using whatever you're selling, right? So in Empower Network, like I said, you can write about me, you can make a video about me, you can do an interview with me, most — say yes to Glenn Thackeray.
Glenn, yes. I don't know what the question is, but Jessica knows, and the answer is yes. So anyways, almost done here, guys. Like I said, most of the leaders inside Empower Network, most people are getting results. I mean, we don't have all day to be doing interviews and videos and that kind of stuff, but that's really why you want to come to the events more than anything.
But even outside the events, you can get people on a live stream. I was just on a live stream today with a bunch of people, one of the guys on my team as well as some other people inside Empower Network, doing a live stream interview together. Now, he's going to be able to use that and leverage it to get leads, to get sales, to get people to have association. Listen, if you sit down and do a one-on-one interview with someone that's getting results that other people respect, they're like, well, darn, you know what I mean.
That guy didn't even answer his phone ever and somehow he got him on a live stream, they must be tight, you know what I mean, he must know what that guy knows. Therefore, I'm going to be watching this guy now.
Write about successes of the people that are using the stuff that you're selling. Take everything we do and leverage it for you. If we make 20 grand a month, write a blog post about it, send it out to your list, be like, another Empower Network member making 20 grand, 100 grand a month, when are you going to get the point and join? You know what I mean?
It's another guy getting 2,000 leads a day using Empower Network capture pages. Man, these things convert like crazy. When are you going to join? You know what I mean? Leverage that stuff.
If you're in Empower Network, you are part of the group. You're in the Inner Circle, man. You are part of this community. Every result that we produce inside this community, you're part of it. You're associated with it.
You can own that stuff. Talk like this is your system. These are your friends. These are your people. And we're making things happen.
Okay? All right. Like I said, you can listen to an audio interview in the Inner Circle. Write about some of the things you hear in there. Like I said, I got a two-hour audio interview you can listen to.
Write about, just allude to some of the stuff that I talk about and some of the other people talk about. Leave some mystery in there. Don't let it all out. And then tell people, hey, if you want to get access to this whole thing, it's dynamite. I'm not supposed to be talking about this stuff outside of Empower Network.
You know what I mean? So I'm not supposed to be sharing this stuff with you. But if you want access to the whole thing, you want all this information that people have been using to make all this money, get all these leads, all this stuff, you need to buy Empower Network and get in the Inner Circle. Right? Buy Empower Network.
Right? Or opt in here. Whatever. And I'll give you my version of what he said, blah-blah-blah-blah-blah, are you talking about that?
Blah-blah-blah-blah, are you talking about that? I think that's it. Woo! Amazing.
Okay. So, all right. So I got a question for everybody.
Okay? Great information, right? If you could absorb all that stuff and actually understand what I'm saying, that's great — you can make a ton of money creating content, creating blog posts, creating videos online. Right? Some of you guys are just getting started.
You haven't done any of this stuff. Right? And you're like, shoot, man, it's going to take a little while to get used to. And that's why you need to create content every day. Right?
So you get used to it. So you start to experience it. You start, as you're writing, you think, oh yeah, remember Chris said that thing about being entertaining? Let me throw this little joke in here. Let me put this little spin on this.
Remember what he was saying about speaking through stories and pictures? Let me put this story in here. Let me create this little picture and relate it to what I'm talking about. Okay, that's cool, whatever. But, right?
Some of you guys are going to take a little while, whatever. Let me ask you this. What if you could use content that I create, content that other people inside of Empower Network or wherever create, that gets tons of traffic, that gets tons of sales? $5,000, you know I got some leads for that, right?
Because why? Because I can create compelling content, I get people engaged, I have them follow the story, and I give them a call to action to get something they want by opting in. What if I could write a blog post, you could share it, I put a call to action there for people to opt in or to buy something, and when they opted in and bought something, you got the lead, you got the sale. Sound like a pretty good deal?
What do you think? I think it's cool. Our comments are delayed. So anyways, what I'm talking about is something that I've been working on for months and months and months. Like I said earlier, I've spent over $10,000 working on this thing.
I'm not going to give you all the details on what it is, but it's a lot of things. Basically, it will give you the ability to have an own unlimited amount of leads, an unlimited amount of traffic, as much as you want, whenever you want, the moment you choose. But not only that, it's going to have to integrate content marketing, because that's what I'm good at. I'm going to make videos, I'm going to make blog posts, and so are some of the other people that are good at that. We're going to give you the ability to share that stuff and get leads, get sales by sharing the content that we create.
Not only that, we're going to give you the opportunity that once you learn creating good content, we'll have people share your content. We'll email it out to our lists. To be honest, I don't care if it's you or it's Dave Wood or it's whoever that creates it. If it's good stuff and I can say, hey, this is going to get a response, I'll send it out to my list. It can have your name on it.
I don't care. As long as it's my link and they're tied to me, get your name, get your content, get you exposure to the stuff that you create. To be honest, you can create the best content in the world, but if you don't know how to promote it, which is a whole other subject, if you don't know how to promote it, if you don't know how to get people to read it, they'll never engage, they'll never come back, whatever. What if you started learning how to create decent content? You sent it to me and I'm like, oh man, that's good stuff.
I send it out to 100,000 people. 100,000 people go on your blog post, read what you wrote. Your name, your picture on it. They're like, man, this is good stuff. Obviously, we teach how to do call to action.
You're like, opt in right here. If you're sending it out, you get the lead. If I send it out, I get the lead, or whoever sends it out gets the lead. That's something that's in development that I've been working on for a little while. It's just a piece of the enormity of what I've been creating to basically help people that don't know what they're doing, that are just new in this thing, that might not have great copywriting skills or might not be able to generate an unlimited amount of leads whenever they want to, be able to just plug in and say, hey, I want this much traffic, I want this many leads, I want this many sales, I want to build my story.
That's what creates your business. Once you have a story, it's over. You can sell anything, you can promote anything, whatever. The problem is getting from zero to $10,000. It's a grind, right?
And you've got to learn all this stuff and do all this complicated crap. What if you didn't have to do all the complicated crap? You know what I mean? Forget that junk. Outsource that stuff, have somebody else do it.
So anyway, just an idea, something I'm going to be doing. If you have not yet registered or pre-registered for — I don't even have a word for it, you know what I mean — the Ultimate Co-op, which has evolved in some ways. The Ultimate Co-op is awesome. If you guys aren't in the Ultimate Co-op yet, you need to get in that.
There's a video on my YouTube channel called Chris Daugherty's Traffic Secrets, I think it's called, where I cover this thing, the Ultimate Co-op. Talk about getting traffic but then also how to get an unlimited amount of traffic. They have an unlimited marketing budget, so you can get as much traffic and leads as you want whenever you want, and it doesn't cost you anything out of pocket. If you're not familiar with that, watch Chris Daugherty's Traffic Secrets, but if you are, you know how awesome that already is.
Obviously we got over a thousand people that are ready to take action on that. If you think that's cool, you haven't seen nothing. This awesome idea I started with has just evolved into this monster. It's really stinking exciting. It's just crazy.
It's going to encompass every aspect of marketing and traffic you can think of, and basically done for you. As much as you want to participate, you can participate. As much as you don't want to participate, you don't have to. You can outsource it and we're going to facilitate that for you. If you haven't filled out the form to be on the pre-registration update list for that thing, I'm going to send an email out after this video is done, with the replay, as well as the link to the form to be on that update list.
I'm also going to put the link underneath the video in the comments. Obviously right now when we're live, you can't post links in comments as they're live. Actually, you can't post links in comments, period. But what I can do is, as soon as I'm done processing the video, which will take a minute because it's already on YouTube, I'll add that link to that pre-registration form in the description of the video. So if you want to hang out for five minutes or whatever after we end, I'll go get the link and I'll put it in the description.
Hit save and you just refresh the page and it'll be there. You can click on it, opt in, get on the waiting list for what we're bringing out here in the very, very near future. Tuesday is the latest day it's supposed to be finished as far as the platform goes. There's going to be a little more updating to integrate the Ultimate Co-op into it so that it's hands-free and I don't have to switch links in all day long for people to get traffic, because I'm never doing that again.
But when we get that in there, it's going to be unlimited, guaranteed leads, whenever you want them, as many as you want them, generated directly to your capture pages, into your list. Not only are you going to get them generated directly into your list, I'm going to do follow-up for you. You can take control as much as you want and do it yourself, but if you're not good at copywriting, you don't know how to create effective follow-up and make conversions into sales after someone is on your list, myself as well as a whole creative team of people that know what the heck they're doing, they're going to be focused on follow-up series, tweaking it, testing it, improving it constantly so that you're getting as many conversions as you possibly can. After we do that, I'm going to move over into some other businesses that I promote, and we'll do that after we're done with this one. So anyways, if that sounds cool, and you guys would rather earn while you learn, while you're practicing, you actually get good content handed to you that you can go out and share, that we can use, send an email out to the list that we'll be creating through the co-op and compel them to take action, but do it on your behalf.
Fill out the form in the description after the video's over, or check your email if you're on the live training registration list. If you're not, once you fill out this form, I'll send you updates about the live training as well. If you haven't subscribed to the channel, do that now. Hit like if you haven't already. Leave us a comment.
Let us know how much you appreciate it, what you learned, some insights or whatever, just how excited you are, whatever. Tell us. I really appreciate you guys filling out the survey this last week. That really gave me a lot of insight and inspiration that we are on the right track with what we're putting together. It is what people need.
It's what people want. It's going to help a lot of people just make a ton of money. That's our goal now. It's our mission. We got a lot of money.
Our mission now is team success. We want to empower everybody to have success and make as much money as we can. This is Chris Daugherty signing off. We appreciate you guys, letting me get this stuff off my board.
I didn't want to erase it unless I shared it with somebody. You guys are awesome. Love you. Appreciate you. Keep an eye out for your email.
Next week we're going to start rolling this thing out. We're going to probably do another training next Tuesday like we've been doing the last few weeks. Hopefully we'll be talking in more specific detail about what exactly we're creating, what exactly you'll be able to tap into to take your business to whatever level you want. That's literally what we're going to do. We're going to work with people and get them to tell us how much money you want to make.
Okay, great. This is what you need to do. Period. There's going to be no more confusion, no more wondering where do I get traffic from, where's the good lead sources, where's the good follow-up, how do I follow up, I'm so confused. None of that.
It's going to be simple, straight to the point, cut the crap, get you the results you want as fast as you want them, and create your story and build and bring you to where you want to be in your business so you can live the life you want to live. So again, this is Chris Daugherty, thanks for hanging out tonight, love you guys, peace, we'll see you on the next video. You can end the broadcast babe, unless you want to say bye.
