Aaron Rashkin on the Mindset Work Nobody Tells New Members About

This lesson is part of Chicago 2013

You’re three weeks into this business, you’ve posted a handful of times, nobody’s responded the way you hoped, and you’re starting to wonder if you’re missing some piece of information everyone else already has. Aaron Rashkin opens this session by naming that exact feeling before he does anything else, telling the room that ninety-eight percent of your skill set in this business comes from your mindset, not your marketing knowledge. He admits the phrase meant nothing to him the first time he heard it either. Then he spends the next half hour making sure it means something to you.

Rashkin isn’t new to any of this. He started his first home-based business back in 1991, a college kid with no idea what he was doing, and he’s been building one version or another of this life for over two decades since. That distance is exactly why the room leans in when he talks about the early days. He isn’t guessing at what beginners feel. He’s describing it from memory.

Why does everyone comparing themselves to the stage get it backwards?

Rashkin calls out the comparison trap directly, the habit of watching leaders collect checks and quietly measuring your first month against their best year. His answer isn’t to stop noticing other people’s success. It’s to notice that everyone up there arrived by a different road, with different skills and a different starting line, and that none of that erases the fact that you’re just getting started, not finished.

He ties this to a rule he says came out of a conversation backstage about being a good winner and a good loser. As Aaron Rashkin puts it, “when you lose, don’t lose the lesson.” The point isn’t to avoid setbacks. It’s to treat every setback as data instead of a verdict on whether you belong here.

What’s the actual mechanism for someone who’s brand new and feels completely alone in this?

This is where the session turns practical. Rashkin talks about growing up in a house where his parents loved him but not each other, spending long stretches of his childhood alone, and eventually realizing there’s a real difference between being alone and being lonely. He uses that distinction to hand new members a specific instruction: if you don’t have a team yet, reach out past your own sponsor to their sponsor, and their sponsor after that, until you find whoever in your line is already running a community, a group call, or a training site, and plug into it.

Successful people do what other people find boring and uncomfortable.

That line is the whole session compressed into one sentence. The blind spots he warns new members about, the boredom of daily blogging, the discomfort of showing up on camera, none of it disappears once you understand the mindset piece. What changes is your willingness to keep doing the boring, uncomfortable thing anyway, every day, long enough for the small wins to compound.

What actually made the difference in his own story, if it wasn’t the money?

Rashkin tells the story of failing his college accounting class three times under a professor he didn’t respect, taking a job as a personal trainer and sales trainer afterward, and eventually walking out over something as small as being sent home for not being clean-shaven. He calls it the day he decided he’d never answer to somebody else again. He’s blunt that he defines success as personal fulfillment, not income, a distinction he says took him years and a painful conversation with his own father to actually believe.

The real teaching underneath the whole thirty minutes is that nobody arrived where they are in a single day. Every leader you watch on that stage, every person whose numbers you’re quietly comparing yourself to, got there through the same unglamorous stack of daily actions you’re being asked to take right now. The mindset shift Rashkin is handing the room isn’t abstract. It’s a decision to keep score of your own daily actions instead of your rank against everyone else’s, because those actions, however small, are the only ones that actually compound.

The full session goes further than what’s above, including the rest of Rashkin’s new member coaching framework. Watch it in full, free, when you Create your free account.

My my nemesis We meet again I Saw you first in Atlanta, and you have followed me to Chicago You guys have a great morning Let me introduce you to one of my favorite guys in the power network Aaron Raskin Unbelievable this is absolutely incredible Was that were those ladies not just amazing or what? Give it up for those amazing women I I was backstage actually taking photos of the monitor Just because I just what what an amazing set of minds. You know it's a you think about this business You know 98% of your your skill set comes from your mindset think about this for a second 98% of your skill set comes from your mindset and You know when I first heard that I had no idea what it meant it was just a lot of words to me and I think about now how some of you are just getting started in the business and How it probably sounds like a bunch of jumbled words to you?

Here's what I know Here's what I know after being in business in home-based business for 22 years now Okay, I started my journey back in 1991 any of you Alive back then Right I started in 1991 I was just you know a college kid and I learned one thing that I will never ever forget It's at the longest journey in this business. How many of you feel like you're on this journey right now? right The longest journey, it's not to the top The longest journey is the journey inward Yeah, can I can I can I see a bunch of head shaking?

I the longest journey is the journey inward and When I think about you know when I first got started, I didn't know what the hell that meant either Right, and it was just a bunch of words Now some of you are gonna get some of what I'm sharing and some of you are gonna get it maybe later or tomorrow It's kind of gonna follow you for the rest of the day the week maybe the rest of the month or at some point At some point Along the road for you what you're hearing here this weekend and what you're experiencing This weekend is gonna catch up to you and things are gonna make sense Now how many of you have a favorite movie how many of you have a favorite movie, right?

How many times have you watched your favorite movie? Right hundreds of times some of you right? I hear 30 40 100 right and and you'll probably watch that movie 30 40 and then 120 of you will remember it a hundred more times. True or true?

Right? Did you ever notice, and this is something that you probably never noticed, but did you ever notice that you always notice something different when you watch the movie again? So you may have seen the movie 30, 40, 50, 100 times, but there's always something that you find new, something new that you find that you appreciate a little bit differently, or a little bit more, right? So how many of you were in at our last event, right?

Release Your Inner Badass, right? How many of you are going to our next event? Okay, so already we have close to 5,000 people register for that event, and what's important is that you realize between now and the next event, which is about 90 days, right? We have roughly 90 days, give or take a day or two, but you have an opportunity not just to go on this journey for the next 90 days, but you have an opportunity to arrive at a new destination.

How many of you are going to arrive at a new destination in 90 days? That's, that's, that's more important than anything, that's more important than anything. The next 90 days of your business are absolutely critical. So I want to point out and share with you a little bit about .

. . you can be doing over the next 90 days. Now, I'm not going to tell you to go blog, although I am telling you to go blog, okay?

I'm not going to tell you to tell others, which in our step, our three-step process, what that really means is that you want to market and let people know that we have this amazing product line, because if we don't sell products, then nobody gets paid, right? So we want to blog daily, we want to tell others, and we want to do what? Get money, right? Get paid, and that's how it works.

So in the next 90 days, there are several things that you want to do. Now, my topic was actually new member coaching, okay? New member coaching, and when you think about what happens when you first get started in the business, sometimes we have what are called blind spots, things that we don't necessarily know are there, but they do exist, and things that we're unaware of that we have to be prepared for. So the first thing I want to share with you, and we had this great conversation, I was backstage, you know, for the last 20 minutes or so, and I was having a conversation actually with Samantha, and we were talking about being a good winner.

We were talking about being a good winner, and we were also talking about being a good loser. Now, a lot of you are saying, well, I don't want to be a loser, let me tell you something. When you lose, just make sure you don't lose the lesson, okay? When you lose, make sure you don't lose the lesson.

Now, the reason I'm sharing this with you is because you're going to come up against some challenges, okay? You're going to come up against a little bit of frustration. You may feel a little bit confused at times. You may feel a little bit lonely.

How many of you have felt lonely in your business before, okay? Now, I, when I was a young boy, I actually grew up in a home that, I came from a very interesting scenario. My parents loved me, but they didn't love each other, so I grew up in a home where I was alone a good part of my childhood. I spent a lot of time by myself, and really diving into why I was feeling so lonely, and as I got older, what I discovered is that I was lonely.

What I discovered is that there's a difference between who I am as a kid, being lonely and just being alone okay and over the years what happened was I developed this sense of confidence that I knew that I was okay whether I was alone by myself or not and so over the next 90 days if you're in a place now where you don't have a team yet you're by yourself some of you live in different cities some of you live in different countries some of you live in places where there's not a lot of support around you so the object here is to really reach out and connect with people and stay connected you want to make sure you reach out not just to your sponsor but to their sponsor and to their sponsor and to their sponsor find out who in your line of sponsorship has a community whether it's a Facebook group whether it's a team training site maybe they have a team training site or maybe they have a team training site or maybe they have a team weekly call or a bi-weekly call so that you can stay plugged in you can pay attention to what other successful people are doing and by doing the work and staying active in the community knowing that you're gonna be back here in 90 days right there's no way for you to lose when the team has already won does everybody get that okay you want to stay connected with the group that's one of the most important things that I can share with you about my message today stay connected because if you know you're coming back here in 90 days and you do what's on the planner right if you do the work right then there's no way for you not to get the results now the results I want to buffer what they mean it doesn't mean that you're gonna become rich overnight okay it doesn't mean that it can't happen but the decision To make money and be successful happens overnight.

It happens in an instant, right? It happens in a mere second. You cross the line and you never go back. You make a decision that you are not going any way but forward, right?

We had an awesome team party last night. Who was at our team party? And my awesome friend Silvio and his wife Cesarina, they stood up on the chair and spoke both English and Portuguese. And I love what Cesarina said.

She said, we have a saying in our house and it's that either it works or it works, right? And you figure out a way over, around, under or through any of the challenges that come up in your business. And that's part of entrepreneurship is being able to break through some of the challenges that most other people would back down from. In other words, successful people.

Successful people do what other people find boring and uncomfortable. Did you guys get that? Successful people do what others find boring and uncomfortable. Now, when you take a look at all these leaders who've been up on stage and all these people who have had incredible success stories over the last 30, 60, 90 days, I know, I know some of you are comparing yourselves.

How many of you, by admission… Compare yourself to other people. How many of you, when you compare yourself to other people, realize that they came along a different journey than you? And that they may have experiences and they may have successes that you haven't yet encountered.

And so they bring a different set of skills to the table that you may not have. And that the good part about it all is that you're just getting started. You're not done yet. Right?

If your past doesn't equal your future, right? Then the future is being ahead of you. That is the direction that you want to stay focused. In other words, you can't ride off into the sunset if you're looking at the horse's ass.

Okay? And I know a lot of you are dragging the baggage. You're like, oh, you know, it's like, oh, my life sucks. You know, let me tell you all that happened.

How many of you heard that? Our Google Hangout last couple weeks ago, we talked about when I actually jumped on and I said, listen, in the beginning, although we care about each and every one of you, although we love each and every one of you, we don't care about your story. Right? It doesn't matter what happened in the past.

Sure, you're going to get a chance to tell it. But in the beginning, we don't care about your story. We only want to know your numbers. Numbers meaning what are you going to do now?

It doesn't mean you have to tell us what you've already done. But what are you going to do now? How many leads are you going to generate? How much traffic are you committing to?

How many people are you committed to getting on a phone call with after they become a member? How many people are you going to expose your business to? Because one of the biggest secrets, you guys don't want to know the biggest secret to success. One of the biggest secrets to success in your business.

That sucked. I want to hear it again. One of the biggest secrets to success in your business is not to keep it a secret. Okay?

If people don't know that you exist. Now, here's something funny. Somebody said to me the other day, well, you know everybody. And I said, well, first of all, let's not be, let's not embellish here.

I don't know everybody. I know some people. Right? Think about it.

If you can have 5,000 Facebook friends. And you can have unlimited fans. But we really don't know a lot of people if you think about the size of the world that we're in. Right?

I don't know all of you in the room. Yet, somebody told me I know everybody. I said, that's interesting. Because, hey, I don't know everybody.

And I said, the real fact of the matter about success in this day and age, in this market, it's not what you know anymore. That's just going to be the only thing you need to ride on. In other words, you want to know a lot. You want to have information.

Right? You want to have education. Which is why our product line is so powerful. But it's not just about what you know anymore.

And it's not just about who you know anymore. What it's about is who knows you. Okay? Who knows you?

Okay? And thank you. And the opportunities that we have, that you have, the opportunities that you have right now to become known, to create your own community, to create your own world, to create your own network, to create all the contacts, all the friends, all the fans, all the followers, the opportunity for you to have thousands of people know you, like you, and trust you, are immeasurable. There's thousands of ways for you to build community around yourself and around your message.

And I want you all to think. Have any of you ever been good at anything in life before? Right? Okay.

What are some of the things that you've been good at? Just shout them out at me. Whoa. Okay, good.

All of you have been successful in something. True or true? True. Okay?

So I want you to think about that one thing that you are good at. And it doesn't have to be like, you know, it doesn't have to be like you can do a handstand on stage. Don't ask me to do one. I did one backstage.

I just can't do another one. Sure I did. I'm just saying, you don't have to have like a special skill. You don't have to be able to juggle or do back flips or maybe be a great artist, although some of you can probably do some of these things.

But think about something that you excel in. Think about the thing that you're really good at for a second. Think about how much time and energy and passion you have for that one thing. It doesn't have to be related to business.

You can be a great friend. Right? How many of you are great friends? All right.

How many of you are great listeners and know that you're a good listener because you consciously do it? Right? You make a point to consciously do it. Right?

How many of you realize that whatever it is you're good at, okay, is just an example of what is possible for you? Because if you can do good in one area of your life, you can do great in other areas as well. It's the same exact mindset that allows you to excel in one area as it does in another. I'll give you an example.

How many of you have had a job in the past? Okay. Okay. I'm kind of on the border.

I haven't had a job really in 22 years. Now, thank you. Because I made a decision when I was just getting out of college after I failed my accounting class three times. By a guy whose tie came up to his third button, drove a 1968 Toyota Celica, and was trying to teach me about finances and how to make and keep money in this accounting class, and I just wasn't buying it.

I just wasn't buying it. So I made the decision when I was in college to never have to answer to somebody else again. The real story behind that is I was a personal trainer for a couple of years. I was a personal trainer for one of the country's largest health clubs, and I was a sales trainer, meaning I was actually in sales for personal trainers.

I would have the client come in the office, or the member, and I would sell them on personal training packages, and I got so busy I couldn't do all the training myself, and that was a light bulb for me because I really couldn't afford to sell packages and keep giving the commissions to the trainer who was going to do it, and I realized that that was not going to work for me for the rest of my life, but I showed up to work one day, and I'll speed up here so we can get through some of my content, but I showed up to work one day, and if you notice, I don't shave certain parts of my face.

Well, I discovered that in college, that you don't have to shave at all. So I grew a goatee, and I showed up one day, and I got sent home for not being clean-shaven by my manager, who had a mustache. So I thought, this is so bass-ackwards. I said, I am not doing this shit anymore.

And so I went in the next day after I lost my day's worth of pay, and I brought in my keys, and I said, this is my two-second and my two-minute notice. Thank you very much, and I never worked another damn day of my life, simply because I made the decision that I was crossing the line, and I wasn't going back. Now, sure, I attempted to make extra money. There were things that I did in the interim between the time that I left corporate work and became full-time as an entrepreneur.

I actually started my own business. I was just literally following the tip of my nose. I didn't know where I was going every day. I knew the direction I was headed, but I didn't know what I was going to have to do to get there.

And see, I started out saying earlier, when you lose, don't lose the lesson. Here's the key, is that you're going to come up against things along the way every day that you don't know about. You're going to learn about new things every day. You're going to be challenged, confused, frustrated.

And sometimes you're going to feel alone. And you're going to feel like, well, I'm not so sure if this is working. Here's the key to all of it, right? When you are absolutely certain, when you are absolutely certain that you don't know anything, you're on your way to becoming somebody that you've never been before.

When you're absolutely certain that you realize, that you know that you don't know anything, that you don't know, it's okay. It's called surrendering. It's called allowing yourself to be human. It's realizing that you don't know where you are and you're going to find your way out of it.

And there were moments in my career over the last, you know, couple of decades where I got to a very unfamiliar place in my life. And I knew that I knew that I didn't know. And see, when you get to those places, it's okay. You take a deep breath.

You realize that, you know, you're in a place of unfamiliarity and you get to work and you put your focus hat on and you get, you know, you get involved into what you're doing. And the more you do anything, now I asked you, the reason I started going down this road is that I asked you before, have you ever had a job? And all of you, almost all of you raised your hand. The first day you started your job, did you know everything?

No. Were you excited though? Right? So you were excited.

Your excitement was high, but your knowledge was low. And every day that you went back to go do your job, every day you went back to work, every day that you paid more attention to the things that you were learning and were paying attention to the things that you were being exposed to for the first time, your excitement may have come down a little, but your knowledge level went up. And so every day that you're taking action, every time you listen to a recorded call, every time that you sit down to watch a video, every time that you write a blog post, every time that you send out an email, every time you place an ad, every time you make a post on your Facebook update or a status update or you use Twitter or whatever the medium is that you're using, every single time I want you to remember that you took an action and have a new level of awareness and you're growing your business.

In other words, keep score about what you're doing every day because those little wins, they compound. They compound. And this is why you have to keep track of what you're doing in the beginning, in your very first 90 days. Now, if you're brand new to the business, the next 90 days lead you right into an event.

And if you just stay focused and you do things every single day towards reaching your goal, don't worry about not having the big goal. You're not going to make a Jillian and a Jiffy here. You've got to just focus on the steps because success is not just about the payoff. It's not just about the payoff.

It's about the process. It's about the process. And there's not a day that goes by that Sophia and I and anyone who's successful, all these amazing leaders and top earners and people that you hear about and speak with at the event that are making money, it's not a day that we don't enter into unchartered territory ourselves. We are no different than you.

We are no different than you. And the day that you stop, Neve, okay? Neve talked about this yesterday and you hear Tony talk about it. The day that you stop comparing yourself to other people as though they're something that you're not is the day that you're going to become just like them.

And your opportunities are going to be just like them. And your success is inevitable just like theirs was. Is that cool or cool? Okay?

Now, there was another couple of days in my life that made a huge impact on my success. Now, I want to define success. For me, success is about personal fulfillment. It has nothing to do with money, okay?

It has nothing to do with money. I remember the day my dad sat me down on a car and he said, Son, you don't have a job. You don't have any cash. You don't have any savings.

You have no more credits, you know, credit cards left. I was way over the limit on all my cards. You don't have anything coming in. What are you going to do?

And I said, I don't need a car, Dad. I don't need cash. I don't need credit cards. I don't need any job.

And I don't really care if I have income coming in because I have the one thing that most people didn't have. And that was this huge desire for success. How many of you have that desire right now? Now, over these years, these years that I've been traveling this journey of my own, there were a couple of really key days in my life.

You guys want to know what they are? Okay. First and foremost, the day that I realized that you can't say the right thing to the wrong person. And that's not just a lead or a prospect or even a new member.

It's just in life. Sometimes we're just not ready yet. And sometimes people that we talk to are not ready yet. And so the real message behind all of it is that you have to realize you can't force anything here.

By trying too hard, you're assuming complete and total control because you think you have to be in total control to win. And the real truth is that the true definition of strength, at least in my book, is not so much about holding on but letting go. Letting go of all these thoughts, thank you, and beliefs that have kept you stuck. In order to get to the next level of success, you've got to be willing to let go and let God.

And the second thing that I want to share, the second most powerful real aha moment and day of really release for me in my life was the day that I realized the kind of person that I was being up until that very moment. Because what you've been, who you've been, and all the thoughts and things that you've been thinking and doing up until right now have you exactly where you are. Okay, I want you to think about that. Everything you've been thinking and doing up until right now, has you exactly where you are.

And I know some of you are guilty of this, and I was too for many years, but the day that changed my life forever was the day that I stopped looking for things to be offended by. How many of you realize that that's probably what's holding many of you back? Staying in a place of anger and resentment and bitterness and pointing fingers and blaming and shaming and justifying. You realize now when you point one finger, you have three pointing right back at you.

Okay, so as I see my time has dwindled down, I want to leave you with just one really important thought, is that nobody arrived here in a day. All the people on stage, all the leaders, all the people that are making money, all the people that you hear about, read about and see online, anybody that's had success did not just arrive here. They got there step by step, day by day, because it's not what you do, it's what you do daily, and each and every one of you, I want you to focus in on the present. They say that the past is history, the future is a mystery, right now is a gift, and that's why they call it the present.

Each and every one of you are exactly where you're supposed to be, and so celebrate this moment. Celebrate this moment with me. Celebrate the fact that it is no coincidence that you are here in this room right now. It is not a coincidence that you're here.

Somebody invited you, somebody led you, somebody guided you, whether it was divine intervention or you followed your best friend or a complete stranger, somebody led you to this moment right now. What are you going to do with it? That's all the time I have here, gang. I love each and every one of you.

Folks, obviously the income examples discussed in this video are extraordinary. The income claims presented are not intended to serve as a guarantee of income. Instead, they're designed to give you an idea of what's possible. Success in this business requires leadership, hard work, and dedication.

Since we want to help you make an informed decision, we've gone above and beyond with our income disclosure document. If you want to see the average earnings, please visit the page at www.empowernetwork.com forward slash income dot php.

My nemesis, we meet again. I saw you first in Atlanta, and you have followed me to Chicago. You guys have a great morning. Let me introduce you to one of my favorite guys in the power network, Aaron Raskin. Unbelievable, this is absolutely incredible. Weren't those ladies not just amazing or what? Give it up for those amazing women. I was backstage actually taking photos of the monitor just because, I just, what an amazing set of minds. You know, it's a, you think about this business, you know, 98% of your skill set comes from your mindset. Think about this for a second, 98% of your skill set comes from your mindset. And you know, when I first heard that, I had no idea what it meant, it was just a lot of words to me. And I think about now how some of you are just getting started in the business, and how it probably sounds like a bunch of jumbled words to you. Here's what I know. Here's what I know after being in business, in home-based business, for 22 years now. Okay, I started my journey back in 1991. Any of you alive back then? Right. I started in 1991. I was just, you know, a college kid, and I learned one thing that I will never ever forget. It's that the longest journey in this business, how many of you feel like you're on this journey right now?

Right. The longest journey, it's not to the top. The longest journey is the journey inward. Yeah, can I, can I, can I see a bunch of head shaking? The longest journey is the journey inward. And when I think about, you know, when I first got started, I didn't know what the hell that meant either. Right, and it was just a bunch of words. Now some of you are gonna get some of what I'm sharing, and some of you are gonna get it maybe later or tomorrow. It's kind of gonna follow you for the rest of the day, the week, maybe the rest of the month, or at some point. At some point along the road for you, what you're hearing here this weekend and what you're experiencing this weekend is gonna catch up to you, and things are gonna make sense. Now, how many of you have a favorite movie, how many of you have a favorite movie, right? How many times have you watched your favorite movie? Right, hundreds of times, some of you, right?

Now, when I was a young boy, I actually grew up in a home, I came from a very interesting scenario.

My parents loved me, but they didn't love each other, so I grew up in a home where I was alone a good part of my childhood. I spent a lot of time by myself, and really diving into why I was feeling so lonely, and as I got older, what I discovered is that there's a difference between being lonely and just being alone, okay, and over the years what happened was I developed this sense of confidence that I knew that I was okay whether I was alone by myself or not. And so over the next 90 days, if you're in a place now where you don't have a team yet, you're by yourself, some of you live in different cities, some of you live in different countries, some of you live in places where there's not a lot of support around you, so the object here is to really reach out and connect with people and stay connected. You want to make sure you reach out not just to your sponsor but to their sponsor, and to their sponsor, and to their sponsor. Find out who in your line of sponsorship has a community, whether it's a Facebook group, whether it's a team training site, or maybe they have a team weekly call or a bi-weekly call, so that you can stay plugged in, you can pay attention to what other successful people are doing, and by doing the work and staying active in the community, knowing that you're gonna be back here in 90 days, right, there's no way for you to lose when the team has already won. Does everybody get that, okay? You want to stay connected with the group, that's one of the most important things that I can share with you about my message today, stay connected, because if you know you're coming back here in 90 days and you do what's on the planner, right, if you do the work, right, then there's no way for you not to get the results. Now the results, I want to buffer what they mean. It doesn't mean that you're gonna become rich overnight, okay? It doesn't mean that it can't happen, but the decision to make money and be successful happens overnight.

And you figure out a way over, around, under, or through any of the challenges that come up in your business. And that's part of entrepreneurship, is being able to break through some of the challenges that most other people would back down from.

How many of you, by admission...

Compare yourself to other people. How many of you, when you compare yourself to other people, realize that they came along a different journey than you? And that they may have experiences and they may have successes that you haven't yet encountered. And so they bring a different set of skills to the table that you may not have. And the good part about it all is that you're just getting started.

You're not done yet. Right? If your past doesn't equal your future, right, then the future is being ahead of you.

Our Google Hangout a couple weeks ago, we talked about when I actually jumped on and I said, listen, in the beginning, although we care about each and every one of you, although we love each and every one of you, we don't care about your story.

And I said, well, first of all, let's not embellish here. I don't know everybody.

I know some people. Right? Think about it. If you can have 5,000 Facebook friends, and you can have unlimited fans.

But we really don't know a lot of people if you think about the size of the world that we're in. Right? I don't know all of you in the room. Yet, somebody told me I know everybody. I said, that's interesting.

Because, hey, I don't know everybody. And I said, the real fact of the matter about success in this day and age, in this market, it's not what you know anymore that's just going to be the only thing you need to ride on. In other words, you want to know a lot. You want to have information.

Right? You want to have education, which is why our product line is so powerful.

I would have the client come in the office, or the member, and I would sell them on personal training packages, and I got so busy I couldn't do all the training myself, and that was a light bulb for me because I really couldn't afford to sell packages and keep giving the commissions to the trainer who was going to do it, and I realized that was not going to work for me for the rest of my life. But I showed up to work one day, and I'll speed up here so we can get through some of my content, but I showed up to work one day, and if you notice, I don't shave certain parts of my face. Well, I discovered that in college, that you don't have to shave at all. So I grew a goatee, and I showed up one day, and I got sent home for not being clean-shaven by my manager, who had a mustache. So I thought, this is so bass-ackwards. I said, I am not doing this anymore.

When you're absolutely certain that you know that you don't know anything, that you don't know, it's okay.

You're not going to make a jillion in a jiffy here. You've got to just focus on the steps because success is not just about the payoff. It's not just about the payoff. It's about the process. It's about the process.

And there's not a day that goes by that Sophia and I and anyone who's successful, all these amazing leaders and top earners and people that you hear about and speak with at the event that are making money, it's not a day that we don't enter into uncharted territory ourselves.

I remember the day my dad sat me down in a car and he said, son, you don't have a job. You don't have any cash. You don't have any savings. You have no more credit cards left.

Everything you've been thinking and doing up until right now has you exactly where you are. And I know some of you are guilty of this, and I was too for many years, but the day that changed my life forever was the day that I stopped looking for things to be offended by. How many of you realize that's probably what's holding many of you back?
