Chicago Event 2013- DW Reveals the Big Sales Secret it is one hell of a lot easier than you think

You’ve been sure for a while now that the top earners know something you don’t. A traffic source they keep quiet. A closing script. A back-linking strategy they only share in private rooms. That belief is comfortable, because it explains your results without requiring you to change anything.

On the opening night of the Chicago “Get Money” Event in 2013, David Wood walked on stage barefoot, called for a whiteboard, and spent his keynote dismantling that belief in front of thousands of people. Partly by telling stories. Mostly by pulling actual leaders up on stage and having them confess, in public, how little their “formulas” contain.

What did he write on the whiteboard?

After the jokes about Costa Rica, the flood that had cars floating outside his hotel window, and the roll call of countries in the room, Wood got to the point. He wrote out how hard it is to build this business, in its entirety: get people to see the video. Some of them join. Some of them don’t. When they don’t, that’s fine. You get more people to see the video.

That’s the reveal. And he was upfront that there are a million ways to do the getting. He built his entire business blogging. Others run paid traffic. One member, he said, got in because she simply liked to write, started blogging, and a friend found her posts and clicked through. The method is interchangeable. The act, putting the offer in front of another human being every day, is not.

Where does he get the nerve to say it’s easy?

From doing it the hard way first. Wood started in network marketing in 2002, in a company he jokes “rhymes with Ramway.” He used to drive from Arizona to Utah with a whiteboard in his car to show the plan at his friend Matt’s house, to the zero guests who ever showed up. His override from that leg of the business amounted to about a penny a month. Driving home from one of those trips, his engine blew up in the desert, in heat around a hundred and ten degrees, no water, cars passing him for hours until he collapsed on the roadside and a family of mechanics finally stopped. He gave them the car, since he couldn’t afford to fix it anyway, and rode home in the back of their truck.

He didn’t quit. But he did start doing something most people in this industry never do: interrogating the rules he’d been handed.

See, I always ask a question, do I need to do this to succeed with every strategy? And sometimes, sometimes, I do. But other times, there’s things that can fade away. I used to think I had to be on the phone with my prospects to succeed because I was told that and told that and told that and told that by guys who sounded like they knew what they were talking about. But not one of those guys ever asked the question, what would happen if I didn’t do this? They never tried.

So he tried. He was good at closing on the phone, by his own account. He just hated it. So he asked: what if people joined without me on the phone? They did, and it freed up hours of his day. Then, at this very event, in a room full of the company’s top earners, he went around and asked each one directly: do you prospect? No. Do you prospect? No. All the way around the room. The activity everyone “knows” is mandatory was almost completely absent among the people at the top.

What about the infamous three-way call?

Wood told one story that’s become notorious. Someone on his team schemed him into a three-way call with a big-shot salesman, the kind of alpha who machine-guns questions and cuts off every answer. Wood asked twice whether the man would let him finish a sentence. He wouldn’t. So Wood told him off in language we won’t reprint here, laid out exactly whose time was being wasted, and ended the call with one condition: you can’t ever call me again unless you join.

He joined.

Be careful with what that story teaches, though. The lesson is not “insult your prospects.” Wood wasn’t running a technique. He was trying to get off a call he never wanted to be on, and the prospect could feel that he genuinely didn’t need the sale. Neediness repels people. The same principle showed up in gentler form elsewhere in the talk: when somebody calls him wanting to quit, he doesn’t beg them to stay. Then quit quickly, please. Usually, he says, they stay. You cannot want it for people more than they want it for themselves.

What was actually inside the leaders’ formulas?

Then came the strongest stretch of the night. Instead of describing what leaders do, Wood brought them up one at a time and interviewed them live, writing each “formula” on the whiteboard as they answered.

Tracy Walker: she connects with people on Facebook. She doesn’t buy traffic. She brings in about two people a day, tells them to watch the standard company video, gets her team following the eight core commitments and reading daily, and works about two hours a day at this stage of her business. Multiple people on her team are succeeding independently of her, which she noted had never happened for her before.

Lawrence Tam: he sends visitors to the same capture pages every member has. He built his own custom pages once, they converted at half the rate, and he threw them out. A modest ad budget. He eventually hired two people to run his day-to-day. But Wood made him rewind the tape: at the start, Lawrence worked a full day at his job and then built until two in the morning. The delegation came after the work, not instead of it.

Chris Rushlow, Wood’s friend since they were twelve: years of being too close to the messenger to hear the message, with ego wrapped around his own way of doing things. A few months before Chicago he dropped the ego, copied the simple posting-and-conversation approach, and finally got moving after years of stalling. Wood’s warning off the back of it: be very careful about when your mind is open and when it isn’t, because you may be rejecting, for the hundredth time, exactly the thing you need to hear.

Notice what never appeared on the whiteboard:

  • Cold calling leads, or any phone prospecting at all.
  • Three-way calls, home meetings, and weekly hotel presentations.
  • Custom-built funnels and secret back-linking strategies.
  • A suit, a tie, or for that matter shoes.

Wood was equally blunt about the other side of it. None of this guarantees anyone anything, and asking “what’s guaranteed?” is itself the tell. Nothing is guaranteed to a lawyer leaving law school either. You’ve actually got to practice law, and you’ve actually got to get people to see the video.

What should you subtract this week?

The big sales secret turns out to be a subtraction problem. The people at the top aren’t doing more than you. In the activities that don’t matter, they’re doing dramatically less. They found the one act that creates customers, putting eyes on the offer, and they do it daily, and they let almost everything else fade away. The complexity you’ve been carrying isn’t a requirement of the business. It’s a place to hide from the one simple thing.

This talk is one session from the Chicago “Get Money” Event 2013 recordings.

So run Wood’s question over your own routine. List everything you did for your business this week, and next to each item ask: what would happen if I didn’t do this? Keep the one thing that puts your offer in front of new people every single day. Drop one thing you only do because somebody who sounded certain told you serious people do it. That’s the whole secret, and it is one hell of a lot easier than you think.

I always say I'm going to keep this short. I know this time I've got to be done by midnight. Yeah, you've seen the videos. Okay, so I've got until midnight, two hours, and I'll just turn the watch off. I forgot to wind it, actually, so I don't know if it's accurate.

You guys bring a whiteboard out, markers, all that stuff? You know, it's funny. Our first convention, here, I've got to take the shoes off. My feet are getting sweaty. For whatever reason, I just don't like shoes.

I try to tell them that when I walk into five-star restaurants, and they still don't let me in. I'm like, it's bad for my arches. I don't like shoes. In Costa Rica, they don't mind. You just kind of walk in the restaurant barefoot, and they just want a tip.

You know what I mean? They say you can't come in. You just give them a 20, and if they don't like it, you give them a 30, and they let you in with bare feet. And, of course, all the other people get mad, like usual. You know what I mean?

They're like, yeah. There's a guy with no shoes. You know, we take our dog to the restaurant, too, and then my wife, Ashley, buys it steak. You know what I mean? And the dog won't eat it if it has too much salt on it.

You know what I mean? It's like, no. It's actually really funny. I know you guys have seen that tiny dog that we've got out in Costa Rica, you know, the little poodle. But that dog follows Ashley around like she's, like, you know, like she's God.

And, granted, she is. You know what I'm saying? But it's the most hilarious thing ever. And she feeds it. Like, a person.

You know, she feeds it, like, prime rib and, like, things like this. And it literally will not eat things with too much seasoning on it. It's completely hilarious. The other dogs are, like, just shaking because they want it so bad. You know what I mean?

Kind of funny. You know what I mean? And what I think is awesome is you look around this room, as you notice the people around you, and you see the success stories today, is everybody here now believes something new. And if you guys think about where you come from and where we can go together, you know, there was a flood here that prevented hundreds of flights from landing. And a lot of the people who are coming are actually getting in tomorrow because of that.

And you guys getting here today, who here struggled a little bit getting here on time? Seriously. Look at this. You know what I mean? There's more.

They're still coming. You know what I mean? I actually woke up, and outside my window at the Hyatt, you know, I shouldn't tell you where I'm staying. I got a disguise when I leave in the morning. You know what I mean?

I wear pants, you know. And nobody looks at me. And if people start to notice, I'm going to start to wear shoes, you know, until I get out, and I'll take them off. You know, but I wake up, and there's a booming voice, and I'm like, it's like 9 in the morning. Stop it.

And I look out the window, and I'm like, I'm scared because there's cars floating in a river. You know what I mean? And I was like, what happened? You know what I mean? Did a dam break or something?

I don't know anything about Chicago other than, you know, it's gangster apparently because we got Al Capone and everything playing in the background. I didn't hear what you said. I didn't hear what you said, but you're incredible, you know, and important, too, apparently, because you have the need to yell, and that's awesome. Yell again. Who is it?

Awesome. Blackhawks, right? Are they a tennis team? You know, it's funny. We were going to go to some sort of a ball game that got canceled because of the rain, and I don't know if I'm the only person that literally just doesn't watch any sports, but I never have.

And I was like, I swear. I'm kind of excited to go hang out and chat with people because we were going to rent a house, but then, of course, the game got canceled, but, you know, such is life. Look at the room and how many people came here even though there was a flood. Isn't that cool? And, you know, another yeller.

We've got plenty of them here. Everybody yell for a second. Just scream. Okay. Now that we've got that out, let's focus.

No, I was kidding. Oh, goodness gracious. You know, guys, here's the goal this weekend. It's to help you get what you want. Okay?

It's to help you get what you want. Now, a lot of you guys, this is your first event ever in Empower Network. Some of you, it's your first event ever in network marketing, period. We've got people in this room from countries all over the world.

Right? Give yourselves a hand for coming here. Now, who is from? Cheer out if you're from the United States. From the United States.

Got a lot. Canada. Okay, okay. Germany. I didn't know there was anyone.

India. Got another one. Got a guy from India. All right? Who's from Central America?

Anybody in here? Right there. Anybody from South America? Got a few more. Portugal.

Portugal. Wow, you got the flags. You guys told me I'd see the flags. I see the flags. Right?

Okay. Anybody from Kazakhstan? Now, truth is, I didn't think that was a real country. And so, until our first event. And our first event, somebody walked up.

And he talked to me. And he had an accent. I said, where are you from? He says, Kazakhstan. I said, I didn't think that was a real country.

He says, Borat. Spain. Who's from Spain? Got a person over there from Spain. But she doesn't like to yell because they don't do that in Spain.

United Kingdom. Who's from United Kingdom? Anybody from Africa? I'm actually curious. Got a guy from Africa, right?

Wait, we got a few. Got a few from Africa. You know, crazy. Twitter the bore around. Yeah.

Now, I'm going to run out of countries here, right? But if you're not from one of those countries, just start screaming. I'm bad with geography. Brazil? We got Brazil.

Where else? Israel? Puerto Rico? Where? Who's from Australia?

Where are you from? What? Mexico? Sweden? Sweden?

Norway? Anyone from Norway? Who else? Where are you from? France?

The French are badass. I'm sexy, by the way. Where else? Malaysia? Anybody from Malaysia?

Singapore? Okay. I'm running it. Turkey? Where?

Huh? Brazil? Got another one from Brazil? Trinidad? Where from?

Brazil. Another one from Brazil. They like to be individual. Yeah. I say, who's here from Brazil?

And a person cheers. And they say, I'm from Brazil. And then somebody else cheers.

And they say, over here. Over here. Where are you from? Brazil. You know?

We got people from all over the world. And there's people all over the world succeeding. Okay. Where are you? We're standing right there.

Right? Who's on their team? I'm curious. All right? Isn't this amazing?

Isn't this amazing? As you look around the room. Yeah. As you look around the room. Right here.

Got another one waving. From Brazil. Right? He stands with every country. You know?

I'm kidding. This is just the start. We'll have auditoriums like this all over the world. And languages all over the world eventually. Because that's where we're going.

So, here's my goal tonight. And I've got limited time. My goal tonight is to share some things to help you get what you want. And everybody here wants something.

And no matter what it is. What you want. It doesn't matter. Right? We can help you get it here.

Because a lot of the things that we want. Regardless of whether they're oriented around money. Make it. They're a lot easier if you can make money in a short time. Right?

Who here knows that? You know? Some of you guys just want to make more money. Some of you are here because you want to play music all day. Right?

And you're sick of going to a job and playing music in the evenings. And you want to make music your job. And then just kind of work for a couple hours in the evening. Like Toby and Layla do. Right?

Toby and Layla. Where are you in the room? Are they in the room? They might be backstage or something like that. Here are some guys that I met a couple of years ago.

And they got involved in network marketing. Because they wanted to build a business that would pay them so they could go do what they loved. Because they loved it. Which is music. Right?

And somewhere along the way they did what a lot of us do. Which is forget why we're here. Right? And they just went into work all day in night mode. And just forgot about the music.

Right? And, you know, a few months ago. They decided to focus on a project. On Empower Network only. And they just dropped the other stuff that they were doing.

They just dropped it. They just decided to focus. And they just play music all day. No phone calls. No prospecting.

No three-way calls. No home meetings. Just make money and play music all day. Right? Everybody's here for a reason.

And a lot of you guys are here because you want something that you don't have yet. That could be supported by money. Some of you guys want to buy fancy stuff. Some of you guys want to buy like a nice watch. Like I've actually never wanted a watch.

I just bought one because I think it looks ridiculous with no shoes to have a watch that costs more than I used to make in a year. Right? What I want is going to be different than what you want. I want you tonight to tap into what you want. And I'm going to show you how to get it.

And I'm telling you guys it's not that hard. It's actually a lot easier than you think that it is. And a lot of you guys, the only reason why you don't have what you want already is because you've never believed that it was possible. Maybe you thought Empower Network was a scam. Who here thought Empower Network was a scam the first time you saw it?

I mean, come on. Be honest. It's okay. Look, we've got a bunch of people in the room. Now, what does that tell you?

It tells you people who think it's a scam get in anyways. Right? Now, a lot of you, you know, you saw it and you said, I'd never do that thing. And here you are. Right?

Here you are. Because you realize there's something different here. There's something magical here. You know, we started and we started with something revolutionary. We decided to pay people all the money that was coming into the company.

Originally, we had no affiliate fee. But you did have to get a merchant account, which actually cost more. So, it used to cost you actually more to participate in Empower Network because you had to have a merchant account. They cost like 50 bucks a month plus a whole bunch of hidden fees. Right?

So, here we can do it for 20 bucks a month and we can process for you. It's a better deal for everybody. Right? But when we started, we had no company income at all. We started to put money in the hands of the field.

We didn't start a 100% commissions company because we thought it would make us rich. We thought we were making money already when we started this company. For a long time. And the truth is I was making more money than I could figure out how to spend. And I just stopped caring about it after a while.

You know, Vic said something that I think is profound and a lot of us miss when he came up on stage. And a lot of you aren't here yet, but you will be in a few months. What he said was after a while, it stops being about money. Right? You can.

You know, I went to hang out with Vic. I think Miami. And he was renting this mansion. And I said, how much did this place cost you to rent? I mean, it was huge.

It was like, you know, a million square feet. Right? Now, I ask you a question. Somebody who makes a lot more. Right?

So, you can find a way to spend a lot of money. But after a while, it's just like it comes in faster. Then you have the ability to spend it. Today, I spend $1,000. And then I have three show up.

Right? And I literally can't keep up with the amount of money that I make. I try to spend it. But it's hard. You know, so I go do a ridiculous thing.

And I buy a fancy watch because I think it's funny to wear with no shoes. Right? Because a lot of people want Rolexes. And actually, here's how I started wanting a Rolex. We were at the last event.

And Tracy Walker was in a room with the leaders. And you're like, you know, Dave and Dave are so awesome. They're not flashing around the fancy Rolexes or anything like that. You know, they just are here to help the people. And I was like, Rolex.

But you got to remember to wind the damn thing, which is what I didn't anticipate Tracy implanting the Rolex in my brain. You know what I mean? You got to remember to wind these things or the time gets off. It drives me nuts. You know?

But in any case, you guys want something different, don't you? And those of you who are at a level, you're starting to either be stuck or you want something new. Now, there's something I notice that happens is people get stuck at various levels. What happens when you get what you want? Well, you get stuck or you want something new.

Right? Well, last event, Nicole Cooper was stuck, wasn't she? Yeah, you were stuck. Last event, and frustrated. And you know when she changed?

I'll tell you when she changed. And I might even bring her up a little bit later to talk about it, even though you heard her talk. And great speech, by the way. Give her a hand, folks. She did a great job.

All the speakers today, give her a hand. Her husband's here, sitting right there with her. You know? Give her husband a hand for being here with us. Love having you here, brother.

You know, guys, the thing is, you know, we've been here for a long time. I'm so glad you're here.

You know, guys, the thing is, folks, is you've got to realize that she broke through in one second. I actually saw it. I saw it happen. The financial results didn't show up for, I think, ten days or so.

It took you ten days to double your income or whatever. But when did she break through? She broke through in a room. When we asked her what the goal was, she said to make one big decision. $1.2 million, you know, in the next 12 months.

She answered fast, so she actually had a goal. Some of you guys couldn't answer that fast if I asked you what your goal was, you couldn't answer. Right, now I could answer that fast too with a goal, right? But she was asked, if you had that, what would that give you that you don't have now? Right, and we asked her the question, like eight times or something like that, until she pushed past two spaces of silence.

See, when you get asked a question, you start running over the boundary conditions of how you construct the world, you go into a space of silence where you start tapping into the resources of your unconscious mind. And she went through that twice, and then we got to a place where she stopped for a minute, and she said, because it's my purpose to help people. There was a shift in her face, and she started to cry. And I knew she had broken through. Financial results, they showed up instantly, right?

See, when you tap into why you're really here, it's like 99% of the battle. Some of us think we're here for one reason, and we're here for a totally different reason. We just don't know what that is yet, because we haven't been listening. I got started in network marketing in 2002, and a company we all know rhymes with Ramway.

But I won't tell you what the name of the company is. And I'm sure you can't guess either. And I got addicted to whiteboards in Ramway. I used to show up, I used to drive up, you know, to Utah. I had sponsored my friend Matt, who went on a mission with me.

You know, that's why I'm, you know, today I was wearing a suit, and I was like, you know, I start hyperventilating when I put it on. That's why I was wearing the sunglasses, so you wouldn't see my eyes. They were terrified. That wasn't it? Thank you, thank you.

People love to yell in here. Just yell again. Just scream. You got it. So, I used to drive up.

I'd sponsored my friend Matt. He'd been a missionary with me. And he was another weirdo in the mission, so we were friends. And then he was up there in Utah. You know what I mean?

And I used to drive up to his house. I want you to think about this for a second. I made probably one cent a month from Matt, you know, from a downline override, you know what I mean? But he wanted to get rich in Ramway, so I used to drive up with a whiteboard in my little car. I'd pull out a whiteboard, and I'd be excited to go show the plan to all the people he was inviting to his house, which equaled to be zero people showing up when I got there, right, and for whatever crazy reason, I just kept doing it.

You know, I'd go work at my job and take my money and drive up to Utah in my car. One day, I was driving back down. I told this story, I think, to the leaders, and my car broke down on the way back to Arizona, right? And I didn't have any car insurance on it either, so it was a good thing I didn't get pulled over and I broke down instead. But it's hot in the desert in Arizona.

It's really hot. Who here is from Arizona, right? You don't want to break down on the road, I can't even remember what it's called, down back to Phoenix from Utah, right, that's like a couple hours from Phoenix. So I broke down in the desert. My engine exploded, right, in this old car that I had.

And, you know, I had my things, and I was standing on the side of the road, and unfortunately, I'm not a hot girl, right? And I didn't have any water either, and I was sitting there, and, you know, cars kept driving by for hours and hours and hours. And it was like 110 degrees, I think, 110 degrees, you know? And, yeah, it was hot, right?

And then a car drove by, and I was shaking because I needed water, right? And they didn't stop, and I collapsed, right? And they stopped. I was like, I should have thought of that earlier. Tricked them, no.

And they stopped. They pulled back. I sat in the back of their truck. I actually just gave them my car because it was a, they said they were mechanics. It was a Mexican family who fixed cars for a living.

I said, just take it. I mean, I can't afford to fix it anyway. So I just gave them my car and got a ride back, you know, back home. Now, some people will quit on their dream for nothing. Did that make me quit?

No, I didn't quit because of that. See, when you have a dream and you have a vision, you've got to realize that you're there to accomplish it, and you need to do it. Right? You need to do it, whatever that is, all right?

So what I'm going to ask you just first, and we're going to continue on here from this, and I'm going to show you guys the formula that we're going to be reinforcing, teaching to you this week. And I'm going to show you why we do some of the things that are a bit weird, okay? Because some of the stuff we do doesn't make any sense to new people. They're like, give me the specific thingy, you know? What's the exact back linking strategy I need to follow to succeed, you know?

And the only reason they're asking that is because they think that's what they need. When if I tell them, they never do it. Right? So a few years ago, I said, why don't you just stop telling them, see what happens? And people just started succeeding on their own.

Right? See, I always ask a question, do I need to do this to succeed with every strategy? And sometimes, I do. But other times, there's things that can fade away. I used to think I had to be on the phone with my prospects to succeed because I was told that and told that and told that by guys who sounded like they knew what they were talking about.

But not one of those guys ever asked the question, what would happen if I didn't do this? They never tried. You need the prospect to succeed. You need the prospect to build relationships. Well, obviously, that's not true.

We have this whole stage full of people. Do you want to know the truth? The truth of how much they prospect. Right? The truth.

Zero. There might be one. Who does? I'm not sure. Zero.

Zero. I asked them in the leader's room. I went around. I was like, do you prospect? And they're like, no.

Do you prospect? No. Do you prospect? No. Do you prospect?

Right? A lot of people don't realize how big Empower Network is right now. We are already in the top 100 direct sales companies in the world. You guys realize that? And for the size that we are, we have more people making money than companies that have a million people on auto ship.

You guys know that? There's a reason for this. Because I question everything. What do you really need to make your goal financially?

What do you really need to do to get it? First of all, disconnect from the bullshit. Let go of it. Right? You need to wear a suit and tie to be successful.

Well, you don't even need shoes to tell you the truth. Right? I remember getting on the Internet, and I thought you had to be serious. Right? And then one day, I was on a call, because I used to pick up the phone and call my leads.

Right? Because I was told, you need to call your leads. Serious people call, you know, their leads. So I used to do that and close them. Right?

And it helped me close. I learned to close on the phone. I'm good at it. It's not that I'm not good at closing on the phone. I'm good at it.

I just think it sucks. I'd rather not do it. I'd rather people just join. So I asked the question, what if they joined without me on the phone? I was like, that would free up two hours a day.

I wonder if they'd join anyways. Amazingly, they did. But anyways, I used to take calls, and someone schemed me into a three-way call. I've done three-way calls in the last three years, and each one was somebody scheming me into it. They surprised me who had my phone number, so I stopped giving it out.

Right? But I got on the phone, and this guy introduced me to this other guy, and he says, Dave, I've got this big wing on the phone. He's so important. He'd be so good. He's a salesman.

And I'm sitting there like, how did I get scammed into this? And I'm in Costa Rica, in my beach house at the time. Okay? It has worked, and it keeps working better, actually, for the last three years. And we've learned some new things.

But it's pretty much the same formula. Right? I'm saying, okay, so this guy is gonna be great at this because he's in sales. And what's one common thing with a lot of salespeople? They think they know everything.

Don't they? Because they love to talk. Now, I love to talk, too, to tell you the truth, but I just don't think I know everything. I stopped thinking that years ago when I figured out I was wrong about everything, virtually. You know what I mean?

And today, I'm still wrong about almost everything, except for the things that I happen to be good at because I've actually studied them. And I'm right on those things. But I realize, for example, I'm not the best event planner. So guess how much decisioning I had in anything to do with this event? None.

I don't even know what's going on, except for the speaker schedule, because I picked those, right? That's all I know. I didn't know there was gonna be fire on the stage until, you know, earlier today. And I saw that, and I said, that is fucking cool. You know?

I mean, I actually, when I saw this initial stage setup, I walked in here, and I just got a boner immediately. You know? So the thing is, obviously, you don't have to be proper to succeed either, but you can if you want, you know? Some people are proper, you know, more so than others. You know, Tony Rush is more proper than others, sometimes, unless he's arguing about religion, in which case, all hell breaks loose.

But Tony wouldn't tell you it's hell breaking loose. He'd say that's not how it works, right? I love teasing this guy, he's great. So anyways, I'm on the phone. This guy.

Right? He says, this guy is so important. He's a sales guy. He'd be so good, and he's so important. And he's seen your video.

Right? And I'm like, oh, god. Because I told my team to not do three-way calls with me. But unfortunately, my dumb upline kept telling them to do three-way calls, and I kept having to say, stop it, because I hate it when you call me with the prospects. Close them yourself.

Right? How many people know it's equally easy to close them yourself, as it is to get them on the phone with some random person they've never met in their life? Hey, Tracy. I've got Billy on the phone. He's so incredible.

He's seen the video. Hi, Tracy. You know, this is Tracy Walker. I'm this big, important person, you know, and I'm going to close you. And you know who she is.

Right? What a waste of energy. Gosh. So I'm on the phone with this guy, and I'm rolling my eyes because I have to do it. I was like, I'll do it.

And then this guy starts pelting me to death with questions. Who in here has been pelted to death? You know, here's what I'm talking about. You ask a question, you start answering, and they immediately ask another one before you finish. Like they're actually, you know, trying to get an answer from you.

Right? Well, that's something that's really common with a lot of alpha personalities that think they know everything. Well, one thing about alphas that I know, because I know people, is that they'll respond to a challenge. Right? So I'm on the phone, and I start answering his question.

And he cuts me off. I just wait for him to ask his other one. And I say, you going to let me answer this question? And he says, well, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll let you answer this. I say, OK.

So I start answering, and he cuts me off with another question. So I say, you going to let me answer this one? Because if you keep asking me questions and I can't answer, there's no sense in being on the phone. And then he says, yeah, yeah, yeah, OK, OK, you can answer this question. I'm such a big shot sales guy.

I sell stuff for a living. I know everything. Right? Yeah, like, if that was true, you know, we'd go to the car lot and get all the wisdom of the universe. You know what I mean?

So I'm on the phone, and I start to answer. And he cuts me off. And I say, fuck you. And he said, silence for like, and my poor downline, you know, scared to death. And the guy stopped for like 15 seconds.

And he says, excuse me, what did you say? I said, maybe you missed the part where I told you to go fuck yourself. And silence. See, I had ran across his boundary conditions of the way he saw the world. People don't do that, you know.

Now, I don't do that very often, but this guy was being rude. I'd be rude right back. Or I'm just acting like him. I figured he'd respond to that. You know what I mean?

Just act like you. You know, you'd be a jerk to me. OK, I'll be a jerk right back. You know how you like it. I don't.

OK. Stop. Right? So anyways, I tell this guy to go fuck himself. Pauses.

Right? And I say, now let me tell you something. Let me tell you who you're talking to. How much you make a year? He says, boo, boo, boo, boo.

I say, how much you make a year? I say, OK. He says, yeah, yeah, I'm doing pretty good. I said, because I am doing more than that every month. And I live in Costa Rica.

You live in the States. My wife's hot and yours is not. And so I said, here's the deal, buddy. I said, I'm going to hang up the phone. And you can't ever, ever call me again unless you join.

He got in. Now, here's the funny thing, is I was not trying to get him in. I was trying to get off the phone, because I hate three-way calls. So now that I've told that story, probably none of you will ever try to scheme me into a three-way, right? So I didn't think he would join.

So what did that do? It broke apart the way I saw the world just a little bit. He was like, that guy joined. He was like, can I talk to you again? I was like, what?

I mean, that's like the opposite of what everybody tells me should happen when you're dealing with people. You know, listen to their problems, stroke their ego. It's so important, Mr. Big Shot.

Please join. I don't give a crap if somebody doesn't join. Now, look, let me give you some perspectives here on business that I've learned. Some people try to fight people when they want to quit. Right?

And who in here has had somebody who's wanted to quit, and you've like kind of begged them to stay in before? I've done it, you know? Who in here has done that before? Right? Somebody calls me, and they say, Dave, I'm ready to quit.

I say, well, then quit quickly, please. Right? What? Well, if you're going to quit, I'm not going to convince you to stay in. You're going to miss your whole life.

I want you to be here if you want. Right? I want you to be here if you want to be in. And if you don't want to be in, then just quit now. It's going to save yourself a lot of pain, because until you make a decision to just do it no matter what, it ain't going to happen ever.

So quit. Usually they stay in. It's weird. You know, it's like the suicide person. They're like, I'm going to commit suicide.

And they just want you to say, it's OK. I love you. You know what I mean? I'm going to quit. I love you.

Go ahead and quit. No, I'm staying. I'll show you. Now, doing this is remarkably easy. OK.

Let me show you how hard it is to make money in Empower Network, because you guys, I think that this will be useful for you. Can somebody get me an eraser, by the way, just in case I decide to erase anything, which I probably won't, but I might later on. This is about how hard it is to make money in Empower Network. Get people to see video, and we can all go home. And it actually works.

You know what I mean? It works. Now, some people are like, well, I don't like that video. You swear in that one. You know, I'm like, sorry.

I felt like it. Get people to see the video. Now, here's the thing. Some of them will join, and some of them won't join. That's OK when they don't.

You just get more people to see the video. Now, how can you do that? Well, there's a million ways to do that. That's the beauty of this, is there's a million ways to get them to see the video.

I really don't care how you get them to see the video. I tell people to try things. Blog is a good way to get people to see the video. I actually got a message the other day. Somebody sent somebody else, and I can't even remember who this was, a Facebook message saying, I can't even believe this, I got in this thing just because I liked to write.

And I started blogging. And then one of my friends found me online, and they just clicked on one of my blog links, and they joined. And then somebody else joined, and I just passed somebody up to my son, who got me in. And I actually, just thinking about it, got in because he wrote a blog, and I clicked on his blog and joined. So blogging is a way to get people to see the video.

Now, some people don't take me seriously there. Some people are like paid traffic guys, like Vic's a paid traffic guy. He's not a blogger, really. He hasn't done it a lot. It's not what he's done.

I've made all my money blogging. All of it. You say, what's your back linking strategy? I don't really have one.

I don't even know, because I pay for my SEO now. You know what I mean? So I'm not going to lie to you and say, here's the secret strategy. Rob Boer knows, I think. Troy definitely knows.

But blog. Blogging's a way to get people to see the video. That's about how difficult it is to make money in Empower Network. Now, if you want to make a lot of money, there's some other things that you need to do, right? If you want to make a whole lot of money, like Tony Rush, there's some things that you need to know.

There's actually not a lot that you need to be good at, though. Is Tony in here? Tony, can you come up here, if you're in here? I think he's here somewhere. If Tony's in here, have him come up.

If not, I'll have somebody else come up who's doing the same. Actually, Tracy, come up here. Tracy. Tony can, too. $80,000?

$70,000. Well, I'm going to get a microphone for Tracy here. Look, because a lot of you guys, you think we're doing something sneaky. You know what I mean? It's like, hey, Dave, tell me what to do, but don't tell me to follow the eight core commitments.

So in other words, tell you whatever you think you should do. So I've got a question for you. What do you think you should do? Well, I think that, you know, I should do this thing. Well, why don't you go do that?

And they're like, thank you. And they go. Just out of curiosity, Tracy, what do you actually do? Hey, Lawrence, here, you come up here, too. I'm curious.

Lawrence, come up here, too, because I just saw him. You know, I'm going to see what the Asians do. What do you actually do to build your business? And some of this is just hard to connect with, because, you know, we've worked so hard our whole lives to make money, you know what I mean? I never even made, look, this watch, this is why I actually bought it, because Lawrence was actually, I was talking to Lawrence on the phone while I was in the Rolex store about the watch that I was looking at.

And I was like, yeah, I'm buying this gold watch. And I was sending him pictures of the watch, right? Remember that? I was sending you pictures of the watch. And he was breaking into laughter that I was buying a watch that was like just $40,000.

I said, I like this one, because it's expensive, you know? But I actually bought this, because this is more than I ever made in a year before 2009. This cost more than I ever made in a year before 2009, right? You can do this.

Right now, I don't do much at all. I mean, come on. What do you actually do? I do a lot of things. Facebook.

I like to social network with people. So kind of like Laura, more like Laura. I'm like the free strategy person. So you don't spend money on traffic? Not much.

So the money you spend, wait, you spend money to fly to the events, right? Yeah, fly to the events. Or do we fly you out? Well, you reimburse me. Yeah, we reimbursed.

OK. So she's not spending money. You're not buying traffic or anything. Now, some people do buy traffic, right? So you sponsor hundreds of people a month?

No. How much? Probably between $50,000 and $60,000?

OK. So about two a day. Yeah. About two a day. And that's consistent.

I mean, I've actually checked. I do know. Just in case she's trying to pull one on you, I'll tell you. So tell me what to do, but here's the deal. I'm not going to do the eight core steps.

So tell me how to build this. Quit. Now, so she gets two people a day, and she follows a step. She actually gets her team reading, too. Who's in Tracy's team?

Me. So you come to the events and bring a team. Dream team. So now, are you the only person in your team making money? No, there's a lot of people on my team making money.

Nicole, right? Nicole. And that's never happened before. Huh? That's never happened before.

Who's making money in Tracy's team? OK, OK. So people in your team are making money, too. And how much do you actually work a day? I'm actually curious, truthfully, right now.

About two hours still. About two hours. And I know that's true, too, because of what she does, right? Which is virtually nothing, truthfully, right? But she gets two people a day, and she gets people following those eight steps.

And that's all she does, right? Now, that there is not hard to teach. How do you sponsor people when you actually bring people in? When you actually sell the product, what do you do? How do you get people to buy?

Tell them to watch the video. OK. Just curious. So you get people to see the video. Get people to see the video.

OK. Just the main one, right? You just use the one on the site. I use the one that you and Dave do. The one where I say, badass, like three minutes into the video?

Right. All right. That's the start. OK. I'm just curious.

Hey, Lawrence, real quick. Give Tracy a chance to go ahead and stay up here for a second. Hey, who's in Lawrence's team in the room? Now, a year and a half ago, you were not broke. I had a $35 watch.

You'd have to save for years. See, I didn't even wear a watch. I just bought one because I think it's funny to wear a gold watch, right? Not that you should notice the watch. I just think that's funny.

I like your car. I got jealous when Tracy, yeah, Maserati. How much did that car cost? Here, hold on a second. I'm curious.

How much did that car cost you bought? About $100,000. Or you have a little bit of a loan? Well, here's the truth. The truth is, and we've talked about this at another event, when you actually start making money and you're coming out of debt, your credit is still bad.

So even though I had all the money to buy the car, I was advised that I should just put money down and pay a note for like six months, and then refinance that note, and then pay off the car to build up the credit. So they wouldn't let me buy the car. Wait, they wouldn't let you buy it? No. See, it's actually hard to spend.

They didn't want the money. It's hard to spend your money. You're like, I just want to buy the car. Can I just wire you cash?

No, you have to go into debt. Right. It's true. America, other countries in there are like, what? OK, so Lawrence, now how much does your car cost?

You've got a Porsche, right? It was like $70,000, I think. $70,000. OK, so I'm just going to write Lawrence's $70,000 Porsche formula, right? Porsche.

Hold on a second, Lawrence. I've got to write this whole thing out. Formula. Now, what do you do to actually get people in, Lawrence, truthfully? Truthfully, I hired two people to run my business.

Huh? I hired two people to run my business. OK, and you just pay them now. Now, keep in mind, when you're new, it's a little different. Well, stuff you learn in the master's.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, he started making money, and then you did this, right? So things can evolve. It gets easier, doesn't it, Tracy? The hours can go down, but at first, when you start, sometimes you've got to work your ass off for a bit, and that's OK, right? You did, in the beginning.

Oh, yeah. All day and night, our first month launch, outside of his work. He worked eight hours, and he was up till 2 in the morning building, right? That's the truth, when you first start. But then he made like a half million, and he's like, you know, I'm sick of working.

Right, so you hired two people, what do they do? Well, see, I don't know how much it makes, because I asked Tracy, who's over there, like, hey, how much have I made? Hey, Tracy, come up here, she works for you? What's that? She works, she knows how much money you make?

Yeah, she does my numbers. Here, I just want to, I'm curious, because she knows and you don't know. Yeah, I don't, I text her, I'm like, I don't know how much I made. You're like, how much, isn't it funny? He's got to text his assistant to know how much money he makes.

OK, so real quick here, I want to check how much money do you make, does he make? Does he make? Yeah. It varies. It's anywhere between.

It's between about 80 to 97. A year? A month. OK. And his assistant knows and he doesn't know, so real quick.

So you hired two people, and now she closes for you and stuff like that, right? Yeah. OK, so what does the other person do? Manages my emails, manages, actually, I ran a. So when I email you, that's not you that responds?

Well, it depends. I emailed them and I got a response that was like, this is Lauren's cum. That's a funny story. I ran a half marathon, and I'm on like my sixth or seventh mile, I haven't even trained, so my leg is cramping up, and I called up, I texted Runny, hey Andrea, can you have a masseuse at the house when I'm done, because my leg is freezing up. So she.

So she checks his email and then gets a masseuse, right? And then she closes sales for you, and you pay for traffic, right, I think, or what are you? The last three months I spent about 5,000. No, in the last three months. Three months total.

And how many people do you bring in a month? Hundreds. Forty? About 40. Forty.

Forty a month, so close to two a day, right, right? Yeah. One a night. Yeah, he makes between like 80 and 90. Now this is pretty unbelievable to listen to for the first time, because people think that there has to be more, right?

Is there, truthfully? I mean, it just gets easier. You shift your mind. Yeah.

What's important. You had to learn some skills in the beginning. Yeah. Right? And you had to work your ass off for a little bit.

I mean, you can't pay for two assistants when you're making no money. Right, Tracy? I mean, you know, we got to relate to people in the room, right? Laura Parrish, she's not paying for assistants, although it might not be a bad idea now. Right, Chris Rushlow, you in the room here real quick?

Where, where are you? Where's Rushlow? Hey, come up here, brother. I'm going to bring him up.

Now, he's making less right now, but he's just starting to make some real money. I want to talk to him about something I told him, too, but, so you just get people to see the video to get them in. Yeah. That's pretty much what you do. That's it.

That's pretty much it. Yeah. I mean, I don't even send the broadcast anymore. You don't, right. You know, all the swipes and all that, the rebroadcast.

You just send your autoresponders. Yeah. And you just get people to see the video. Yeah. I just post pictures on Facebook about what I eat, and people just subscribe.

Now, you go through phases of evolution in your business, guys, where it does get easier. I'm going to talk about that tonight and how to do it. Okay? But you've got to start, and you've got to be willing to do what it takes.

Now, the numbers I'm showing you are ridiculous. Income disclosure, this doesn't guarantee that you're going to make money. Let's not be retarded, right, for heaven's sakes. Okay? And sometimes people are like, well, you know, what's guaranteed?

Well, it's guaranteed if you're asking that, that you shouldn't join. Right? It's what's guaranteed. Right? Because nobody's guaranteed.

A lawyer doesn't ask that when he's going to law school, does he? What's guaranteed when I get out of law school? Right? Nothing, dork. You've actually got to practice law.

You've actually got to get people to see the video. You know what I mean? Okay. So you get people to see the video. That's pretty much it.

Yeah. Right? And then she closes people for you. Yeah. And what's funny is the page traffic is actually through the Empower Capture pages.

Really? So you just send them straight to the same pages. Yeah. I mean, I tried to build my own. It was like half the conversion.

I'm like, this doesn't make sense. I just use yours. Well, yeah, yeah, yeah. So you don't care if you're the best, like, direct response guy. No, I'm not.

Because Chris Jones, he was cracking on me. He's like, dude, you're doing stuff that you don't even know what you're doing. I was like, I don't. I just do it. Hey, he doesn't care.

Yeah. You don't care, do you? No. Is it okay if, like, we just convert sales for you and you don't really have to do anything? Yeah.

Because I get paid 100%. It's okay. Yeah. Why not? You get paid the same, don't you?

Yeah. All right. Now, one thing I want to mention, I'm going to talk to Chris here for a second. One thing I want to point out about Lawrence, Lawrence's income and Tracy's income are higher significantly with less work than I have. Yeah.

And almost every Internet guru. You guys know that? Yeah. However, the less work part is pretty significant.

What's it take to be a guru? A lot of work. It's awful. And then you've got to buy robes and stuff. You know what I mean?

Real quick. Hey, pass it to Chris. Now, Chris, this is my buddy. I've known him since I've been 12. Give him a hand.

Now, there's a reason I'm bringing Chris up. Can I talk a little bit about you here? Sure. Because, you know, we've been friends for a long time. It's not behind your back. I mean, in front of everybody. Right? I've seen Chris go through an evolution.

Now, what you made this month so far? This month? Uh-huh. $12,000 already, I think. $12,000.

Give him a hand. Right? Now, Chris went through an evolution. A lot of us do things like this where you're around somebody. Like, he was around me.

Right? He saw me take off. Right? He saw me just like... Right?

It's hard to watch sometimes when you're close. Right? So, Chris, what's it take to be a guru? It's hard to watch.

Right? It's hard to watch sometimes when you're close. WTF. Yeah. He's like...

You know what I mean? So, Chris... And this is the truth. Okay?

Let me give you my perspective. And I want to be honest here. I told Chris how to do this for a long time. Right? But sometimes you're too close to somebody.

Right? You're too close to somebody to listen to them. Right? Be very careful when your mind is open and when it's not open. Because you might be hearing something hundreds of times that's just what you need to hear.

That's just what you need to hear to get what you want. And you're rejecting it. You did that for a while. Truthful, didn't you? Yeah.

Yeah. And it's not his... Guys, it's not his fault. We've known each other since we played basketball together in like, you know, ninth grade or whatever. Right? We were in a vitamin deal together doing weekly meetings. And he liked going to my meetings because they were fun to watch.

You know what I mean? Because you never know what's going to come out of my mouth. And I went into spasms on the floor because I was so excited. And they all got in. Huh?

And they all got in. They all joined. They were afraid to not join. Right? True story.

But I was really good. I was a really good communicator. Really good at getting people in then, too. It's just I was having a hard time getting people to meetings. Right?

Yep. We had a hard time doing that. And we all... Our whole group got burnt out. Yep.

Right? And they all quit. Why? Because we were doing freeway calls. And as we talk about in the master's course, we talk about why that is a horrible way to build a business.

Because of what's in there. We'll talk about that later. But so, finally, a few months ago, here's what happened.

Here's what I saw. Chris had this ego surrounding his actions. And it wasn't a bad thing. A lot of us got an ego. Look.

You know what I mean? A lot of us think that we know how it is. Right? Right?

Now, the truth is, the realization is, there's very little that we actually know. And if we believe something, we believe it just because we believe it. We made a decision to believe it. It's not necessarily because it's the truth.

Right? Right. Having an ego is a decision. Not listening to what we teach this weekend is a decision. Deciding to listen is also a decision.

Right? Now, a few months ago, you decided to start listening. Right? Isn't that true? Right, Amy?

Right? Amy Star Allen. Yeah. She's in the group.

Now and Jordan Schultz. But he wasn't making that much. And Jordan, now he's there. Right?

Now, you might have more. Landon's almost at six figures, too. 20 people this month. Huh? 20 people this month.

Hey, Landon. Give Landon a hand. Come on. Okay. Now...

He's 22 years old. Now, a few months ago, I saw him drop that ego. I saw you drop it. And everything is transformed. Right?

He just started listening. Right? Right. He's like, I'm gonna do this. Now, what do you actually do to make money?

You've made 12,000 this month so far. It's the 19th. It's almost the 20th, those of you who are excited about that. Right? I've seen the messages on Facebook.

I know about the secret meetings. I know on the 20th of April, some of you are like, what they're talking about? Don't worry about it. But in any case, you start listening. And what do you do to bring people in?

Post pictures on Facebook. Right. Like Lawrence. You're kind of copying Lawrence. Right?

Pretty much. Just posting pictures and they ask me about it and I send them that video. Okay. Right? So he got, I think, the meal thing from Lawrence.

Lawrence is actually like this, by the way. If I call Lawrence, which sometimes I do, I call him occasionally. We've known each other for years. Right? He's been on my teams for years.

I saw this guy struggle for ages, guys. And he comes to my house in Costa Rica. And he's like, man, I can't make any money doing this. I don't know if you remember, we had a Houston meeting for one of our opportunities. Yeah, yeah.

And we're shooting a video. And the video was awesome until you go, but look at Lawrence's hole in his dash in his car. I had this huge hole. I always positioned the camera so you could never see it. But then you were in there and you're like, but look at this hole.

I'm like, oh, I'm not going to cut that, man. You always got to edit my videos. You never know what's going to come out. You know what I mean? So he had a hole in the dash.

And he used to wake up in the morning early, right, and sit in a cubicle all day. Yeah. I used to make fun of him and say he's the Dilbert marketer. You look so much more relaxed now, by the way. Why is that?

Yeah. Well, I mean, my wife's happy. So. Oh, she's happy. Yeah.

Now, guys, that is not difficult. Right? Does everybody agree that's pretty easy to do, like, as a model? Right? Could you do a doc?

And some of you are like, I'm not raising my hand for anything. You're not tricking me. I know how this works. You want me to raise my hand. And before you know it, I'm hypnotized.

Although you may go into trance at any time you choose. Yeah. Easy. Right? First time ever really succeeding in network marketing.

Yeah. By the way, you look a lot more relaxed now. Why is that? Because you're not married. Not married.

But I have him following me around doing all my work for me. He's my personal assistant. Ah. Right, right, right. Now, here's what I told Chris.

Because Chris was actually starting to make some money. Right? That's why I brought you up originally. When you start making money, it's like stuff starts happening all the time that you don't want to do anymore. Right?

He was my assistant for a little while when I was first succeeding. And by the way, Chris tries really hard, but he's not a very good assistant. It's hilarious. You know, but he was trying. Suck at it.

But he was trying, and it was at a point in your life where you were at a low point. Right? Well, I'm as ADD as you. Yeah, he is. You know, so I'd be like, get this done.

And he'd say, okay. That's like when I say that. It's like, yeah, okay, I'll get it done. When? Well, when I get to it.

Which means never. Four weeks later, wait, Chris, I think I asked you to do something. The lucky thing about him, though, being my assistant, is I wouldn't remember I asked it. Right? So he was my assistant for a while.

Right? And now you have an assistant who's a good assistant, who's doing a great job. Right? He's told me about him. Now, when you have money, it's amazing how much easier your life can be when somebody else organizes it.

Now, I want you guys to think about this here for a second, because this is powerful. Right? I'm going to go snowboarding now. Dude, no wonder why you're relaxed, bro.

That's why he moved to Colorado in the first place, to do what he wants to do, snowboarding. Right? That's right. And I told him in the middle of the day on Thursday, I said, dude, turn off the computer. We're going to the hill.

We're going to Vail, which is 25 minutes away from where I live, because I live in the mountains now. And I said, stay on the clock. I'm going to pay you to film me the rest of the day as we go snowboarding. Not a bad job.

Give him a hand. Assistant. See you guys. Today, if anybody wants to see that video, he ran into a tree.

Hopefully you didn't, too. You're like, that is not part of the job. Right? But I have more time to practice. Now, guys, I want you to realize this, that life can get dramatically easier when you start making more money, because all the stuff that you don't want to do, did you know that you don't have to?

I want you to really think about what I just said, and I'm not saying I'm crazy when I do that. That's probably not the right hand motion, right? People think I'm crazy already, which... Granted, I am.

I don't even know what hotel I'm staying in ever until I'm there anymore. Ever. I literally don't even know. I didn't know where the event was.

Nor did I care. Somebody stopped me in the hallway earlier today, and they said, David, you know, where's the all-in meeting at? And I said, I don't know. And he thought... I think by his face, I think he thought that I was being rude.

And I stopped, and I said, I want to... You know, I'm not being rude. I actually don't know. Because I didn't plan it. I didn't know that there was flames on the stage until I got here.

Right? I never know where I'm going ever, and nor do I care. Because everybody thinks, oh, you've got to know this. You've got to have your plans. It's like, well, if I'm thinking about that stuff, I can't think about the stuff that I want to think about, which makes me infinitely more money.

You know what I mean? I think about a lot of stuff, and I plan a lot of stuff, just not, like, these detailed stuff, because I'm awful at it anyways. You know how long it would take me to book my own flight? I'd go to the computer. Like, start writing in Orbitz.

Right? And by the time I got to Orb, I'd be thinking about the planet. Right? And so I'd, you know, then before you know it, I'm clicking through space, like, wondering where the last UFO landed on the Internet.

You know what I mean? And then I run into a Justin Varengia video, you know, because he makes UFO videos, you know? I saw this Justin Varengia video. He used to make these UFO videos.

Right? And he had this UFO blog. And it's the most hilarious video, because he's standing with a camera plan, with his wife like this, smiling, like he's taking a picture.

And this dot goes across the screen like this. And I saw a UFO in the video. The dot. Right? That he was standing there smiling for.

I think it had, like, 200,000 views. Hilarious video, by the way. That one. And anyways, guys, you can live like you want. Imagine what you would do if you had what these people on stage have.

It doesn't have to be what we do. You don't have to live in Costa Rica, and you don't have to buy a Porsche or a Maserati if you don't want. You don't have to have a gold Rolex. You want a Maserati so you can have one.

A Lamborghini. Right? What else do you guys want? What's the truth? Isn't this cool?

Freedom. Now, guys, change the world. Right? Now, guys.

You've got to decide what you want, actually. Let me check what time it is. I do have a watch. Not that you noticed. I think that's the funniest thing ever.

It was your watch comment that made me get it. They're like, David and Dave don't flaunt watches. I was like, I need to. Right? I need to.

Next thing, I need gold shoes, too. I'm kidding. I'd be like, I bet you didn't notice my gold shoes. Yeah, but I just like wearing it because the serious people really want one when they see it, and I think it's hilarious. You know, I remember that check I got.

I was wearing the Mickey Mouse gloves, and I had that big check for, like, 33 grand. This was before Empower Network, and we were at an event, and I walked up on stage, and I had the big check, and it wasn't like you guys' checks that we're going to give out tomorrow. So I got a Mickey Mouse glove. I thought it was hilarious. Well, I took my Mickey Mouse glove, my check, with no shoes, right, and I had a shirt that said the amazing MLM guy on it, the most obnoxious thing ever, right?

Has a guy that looks just like me, has eyes that are different sizes. Ben Starter made it. One of my friends sent it to me in Costa Rica. He's like, Dave, I made you some. It says the amazing MLM guy on the front, right?

Hilarious shirt. Has armpit stains in it, right? And I had my big check with armpit stains and my Mickey Mouse glove, and there was an IBM conference, like, in the room next door, right, with all these guys in suits in a really boring meeting. So I stood there, and Dave Sharp was with me, and I had my Mickey Mouse glove and my check, you know what I mean, and I was holding it, right, so people could just see the glove over the check like this.

So they walk out, and they see the 33,000, and Dave's right there, and I'm right here, and as they walk out, I say, Dave, isn't this pyramid scam awesome? Revenge! You know what I mean? People are too serious sometimes. You know, you gotta lighten up and have fun in your business, don't you?

You have fun, don't you? I mean, snowboarding now, you're having way more fun making money than it was. I did just say that, but I was confused by my own statement. I had to stop and go into a trance, right?

I actually forgot what I said, but you have fun, right? You have fun now. Yeah. Right? Like I could say anything.

I was poor and living in my mom's house at the time, right, but doing meetings on how to make money, you know, and vitamins. Right? You guys have seen the plans, right? And he'd come to the meetings, and I'd make fun of realtors, because I thought it was hilarious because he was my buddy, and he would answer the phone all night, right? All night.

In the middle of meetings, in the middle of hanging out at a bar. You remember that? Remember those days? Oh, yeah. Yeah.

Why? Because he's a realtor, and that's what they do. They look at a house. It's his living. He doesn't sell nothing.

He doesn't make any money. It's awful, isn't it? Truthfully? Awful way to live. Now, I'm sorry if you're a realtor.

I respect you. Right? But I saw him do that, and I used to make fun of it. It was like, you know, I'm in real estate. I'm making good money.

Well, you know, yeah. Running around all day and night. And I saw you living with your parents, and I'm like, the alternative? Yeah, I know. So it's not like he's going to listen to me.

You know what I mean? Some of you guys actually in the room... And you wonder why I don't listen to him. Yeah. I wore shoes then.

Yeah. And it didn't fit. You looked so out of sorts in that suit. I actually got that, a meeting we did on the Internet still from way back then where I'm wearing a suit. You remember that?

Oh, yeah. That meeting? Oh, yeah. I had my buddy come with a camera and film it, and I'm going crazy and spazzing out like usual. You know what I mean?

But I had shoes and a suit on at the time. Right? So I actually used to do this. My point is, I've been everywhere where everybody in this room has been. Now, do you answer the phone?

A lot. I mean, you might do it from time to time. I have no clue. But do you talk on the phone a lot? No.

Do you answer it whenever you're snowboarding, and do you carry like a little cell phone as you're snowboarding down the hill in case a client might call you? You know what I mean? In case one of your downline has a problem, you're just staring at your... That's why you hit a tree, isn't it? That's why you hit the tree.

No. I'm just teasing him. But guys, give these guys a hand. They're examples. Feel free to sit down, guys.
