You Can’t Cage a Lion and Still Expect It to Roar

You’ve built the outline. Subsections, bullet points, a clean structure for exactly how somebody’s expertise should show up on video, and you hand it over certain they’ll be impressed by how organized you made their own brilliance. Travis Reagan did exactly that with Dave Wood’s new product line, and what came back wasn’t excitement. It was three quiet words that took him weeks to actually understand.

Travis had just moved into the product director role at Empower Network, tasked with a genuinely strange assignment: take everything in Dave Wood’s head about building a team, becoming a top producer, and creating mass influence, and turn it into three finished courses. So he did what anyone trained to be organized would do. He built a full document, subsections and subpoints, a complete map of how the affiliates would benefit from each piece. He walked Dave through the entire thing on a video call, certain of the reaction he was about to get.

What happens when you try to put a lion in a cage?

Dave’s response to the whole presentation was two words: “appreciate you, brother.” Not a note. Not an edit. Not the excitement Travis had built the deck to earn. He flew to Costa Rica to try again in person, got past the armed guard at the gate, sat down with the shortened version, two pages instead of the full outline, and got the same answer back before he’d even finished his pitch.

That’s the moment the realization actually landed, and it’s worth sitting with because it applies to more than a product launch.

And if you try to cage a lion, you don’t get the same result.

Dave is a lion, in Travis’s telling, and every subsection and subpoint was a bar in a cage built with good intentions. The instinct to organize someone else’s gift into a repeatable process, the same instinct that produces onboarding documents and content calendars and step by step scripts, works fine on most tasks. It does not work on the thing that actually makes a person worth building around. So Travis and the team changed the entire plan. They stopped handing Dave an outline and started handing him a camera, then got out of the way. What came out of that shift became three of the strongest courses the company has produced.

Why does everybody secretly not know what they don’t know?

The second half of the session hands you a framework for the exact discomfort that produces overbuilt outlines in the first place, the fear that you don’t yet know enough to be trusted with something important. Travis walks through four stages every skill passes through on its way to feeling natural.

  1. Unconscious incompetence: you don’t yet know that there’s something you don’t know. You haven’t started blogging because it hasn’t occurred to you that you need to.
  2. Conscious incompetence: now you know exactly what you’re missing, and it bothers you every day until you close the gap.
  3. Conscious competence: you can do it, but it still takes visible effort and concentration every single time.
  4. Unconscious competence: it’s become second nature, the stage where the skill runs in the background while your attention is somewhere else entirely.

Notice where the overbuilt outline came from. Travis was operating from conscious competence, deliberate, careful, structured, trying to hand that same deliberateness to someone operating from unconscious competence, someone whose skill had already gone underground into instinct. You cannot script instinct. You can only film it and get out of its way.

So what do you actually do with this once the weekend’s over?

The same question applies to your own gift, not just to the people you’re trying to package. Wherever you’re still consciously grinding through a skill, structure helps, outlines help, checklists help. But somewhere in your business there’s already a thing you do without thinking about it, a story you tell well, a way you talk to people that gets a yes more often than it should. That instinct doesn’t need a script either. It needs you to notice it’s there, then hand it a camera instead of a cage.

Travis closes the session pointing at the hero’s journey, the same shape under every story worth telling: a new world, tools handed over by someone who’s already made the trip, and a decision about what happens next. The tools from this weekend are real. What you do with them, and whether you build a cage around your own instincts or finally let them run, is the only part nobody else gets to decide for you.

God-given talent is to understand how to deliver valuable products, how to organize things in a way that makes it marketing and the selling effortless. So I'm going to bring Mr. Travis Reagan up. I don't know where you are, Travis.

Are you even ready right now? Where you at, man? Travis! I love you, man.

I love you, man. Do your thing, man. I love you. Love you, bro.

Love you. Love you, love you, love you. How is everybody? Good!

Come on, how is everybody? Yeah! Man, you guys look good. Holy crap.

This is Vegas. Everybody all dressed up. I feel, Jesus, you guys look good. Okay.

Wow. We're about to go on a journey. A product-related journey. But not just about products.

There's going to be a few stories involved. There's going to be a bit of recognition for somebody who really deserves it. Let me throw that up there. Maybe.

Now. It's coming. I'm hitting this big green. Yeah.

Look at that. One. Back. One more back.

All right. Revolution. Right? We're going to go over some really awesome stuff and we're going to go on a journey.

I originally wanted to name this slide, for all you geeks out there, The Unexpected Journey. But that's got a lot of copyright shit around it and I'd get in a lot of trouble. Andy already came up to me and she's like, no. Well, I'm like, what about the Totally Expected Journey?

And she's like, well, that's just dumb. I am telling you about it. So it's really redundant. So here's what we're going to go through in the next 25 minutes.

We're going to go on a little bit of a journey. We're going to cover recognition for someone who really deserves it that's in the room that I don't know if they, they get brilliant recognition, but I think they deserve a little bit more. I'm going to make a promise to you and we're going to go over that in the next slide. I want to talk about the people of Empower because the people of Empower is really where the heart's at.

Empower, am I right? Yeah, you guys rock. Okay. It's just a known fact.

It's on Wikipedia. We're going to cover the core competencies. Which is kind of the learning curve to just about anything that you learn, right? There's, there's a set of four steps that you really, you have to go through to understand anything.

And it's kind of something that even happens before you even know that you don't know something. Yeah, she's like, all right, we're gonna cover products, the history, then we're going to talk about inception, not Leonardo DiCaprio. Okay, it's not happening. We're going to talk about the inception of Dave into the products because that was an interesting process.

And it's definitely one of the coolest things I've ever had the experience of going through with Dave. And it was just, you know, mind shifting. And I think it'll bring a lot of clarity to the products because Dave is a huge part of the products, right? It's his mind that, you know, took top producer and team builder in Costa Rica and you know, his whole, you know, journey out to the middle of the Amazon where he's like, just download it into my brain.

Then we're going to talk about the products in the future, where they're going, what we're going to do to build upon the immense value of the products you already own, right? Then all the way through the team, because you guys have a team that I don't know if you really even know about, cover a recap. Then we're going to break a lot of rules. Anybody up for breaking some rules?

Yeah, everybody wants to break some rules. But only if you're excited about it and only if I can totally blame the idea on you. Yeah, I don't see J Cron in here and I think Marge went backstage, so I think we can get away with it. And then I'm going to talk about living your legend because over the last three years with Empower, there is something that I kind of realized and it's pretty powerful.

You know, by watching the leaders, by being on the sidelines and really getting to see everything from a different perspective, I realized something that's brilliant about these guys and brilliant about you and it totally intertwines. So let's just jump right into it. Can everybody stand up? I'm going to be the bad guy.

Everybody stand up. Everybody, see, he's so comfortable and he's like, oh, God, Jesus, I'm not standing up. All right, go ahead and stretch. Go ahead and stretch up.

You know, if you put on deodorant, stretch up. If you do not put on deodorant, please stretch forward. Or if you naturally smell good, go ahead and stretch up. And if you did both, you're in a league of your own.

Start hugging people. It's great. All right. While you're standing up, I want to tell you that there's somebody in this room who deserves a lot of recognition.

Somebody who has made immense. Sacrifices to be here. Somebody who really has gone through unknown hurdles and known hurdles, but things that not everybody realizes, right? Things that have really changed the way they believe.

That person's you. So please go ahead and give yourself a huge round of applause because you guys are the heart of this organization. All right, you guys can go ahead and sit back down. My promise to you is by the end of this 20 minutes and 30.

Wow, that went by quick. Did you guys change? Did you guys change that? 20 minutes and 25 seconds.

You're going to have product clarity. I'm going to make a lot more jokes. I may do a Dave Wood impression. Yeah, hey.

We're going to go over, you know, the future of the products, where they're at now, where they were before, and how that came from, you know, Costa Rica and the crazy download in Dave's brain all the way to the new Coralina products. Why it's the Coralina products and what we're going to do to build on that Coralina products without you all inners having to dump more money into the, the existing products. Why? Because you deserve immense value.

Am I right? Yeah. All right. So let's talk about the people of Empower.

I see Sarah Leanne. Sarah Leanne, if you guys don't know, is a blogger. And during our Kalatu blog, who was in the open beta? Who was in the closed beta?

And who was in the Facebook group? Yeah. First off, thank all of you for posting in the Facebook group. I don't know if you know this, but every time, there's a reason we use chat role even, right?

Every time you guys take an action. We, we keep the metrics on it. Why? Because your voice, your input, everything that you do is extraordinarily important, right?

You guys are changing the face of Empower and don't even know it. Sarah Leanne, for instance, that girl has submitted more tickets than I know what to do with, right? She, I'm, I'm looking in the tickets of the blog feature requests and what can be fixed while we're going through the open beta. Her and her family is brilliant, by the way.

I mean, they're, they're a beautiful couple. She's got a brilliant blog, but she is submitting these tickets. And she's so nice in them. She's like, I'm so sorry for writing another ticket.

I imagine that's how you sound when you're writing them. I'm so sorry for writing another ticket, but there's something we need to have in here, you know? And that's a weird accent. Why did I just give you that?

Uh, and, uh, they're brilliant from her alone. There were almost a dozen changes that went into Kulatu. All of you have done brilliant things for Kulatu. So thank you, Kevin Sousa.

If you guys know Kevin Sousa, Kevin. Yeah. Kevin. At the last event, he was on a wheelchair, right?

He was being pushed around the wheelchair and had this major surgery. He went through him and his wife. Did you know that they went through the 42 day blogging challenge? You know what that is?

That's a husband and wife couple crushing it. Am I right? Crushing it. Cause there is always an amazing woman behind a brilliant man.

You guys rock the women of empower. Let me hear you. Hell yeah. And sometimes there's amazing woman in front of a man or just a single mother.

So let me hear the single mothers of empower. Who are across. Crushing it. You know, Michelle is going to come up after me.

She does brilliant things. She's a single mother. She's crushing it. Crushing.

You guys rock. So let's talk about the core competencies or the or a competencies. We're missing a C, but that's okay. Unconscious and competence.

That's when you don't know that you don't know something that's kind of before, you know, like let's take Justin for Angie, for example, 10 years ago, Justin, for Angie, I didn't know that he needed a blog, right? He didn't know that. He didn't need. He didn't need to do it.

So it was a stage of unconscious and competence. Now I know the word incompetence is like, you know, when somebody, when you hear incompetent, like you've always heard that one guy go, Oh, you're incompetent. The first thing that comes to my mind as well, you're a dick, you know, I'm in trouble for my language too. At the end of this, this is brilliant, uh, unconfident competence, but what it really means is you're just in a state of not knowing, right?

You haven't actually attained all the knowledge or taken all the actions that you need to reach competency. So the first step is unconscious incompetence. Then you move into something called conscious incompetence. That's when you know, you don't know how to do, or you know how to do it, but I'm sorry, you know that you don't know how to do it, but, uh, you, what the hell?

I am totally, I'm like reading this backwards. I just got dyslexia in this. You guys know that I just got dyslexia in this very moment on stage. It's awesome.

You know that you don't know how to do something and it bothers the hell out of you, right? That's what. Like, you know, I don't know how to blog. I need to learn how to blog and it sucks.

Right? Then you move into something called conscious competence. And what conscious competence is, is that you know how to do something, but you know, it's going to take a lot of work. You know how to do it, but you're like, man, I got to really work at this.

And you start doing it, you start crushing it. And then you move into something called unconscious competence. And that's where it goes into your subconscious. It's like second nature.

You're like blogging like Sarah, Leanne, you know? And she's like, yeah, honey, I'll be in a minute. You know, she's like making food while she's doing it. So that's really the four stages of conscious and unconscious competence.

And what it is, is that every time you learn something, that's the steps you go through. So before you even know how to do it, you're already in a stage of those four steps. And it really plays off of Tracy Walker's video. If you guys were in the room for Tracy Walker's video with the monkey, who saw the monkey business?

That was a great video, right? That's the thing. You got to look for the stuff that you don't even think you need to know to look for. And you got to stop looking at the stuff that doesn't matter.

Right? Am I right? Okay. So let's talk about the products of history.

When the products first came out, you guys have heard the story of Dave where he was in the middle of the jungle. And he's like, I received this brain download of, you know, I just, Empower Network came to me in this huge dream out in the middle of the mountains of Costa Rica. And it's actually true. It probably did.

I wish I could find that spot. There's probably like an alien crop circle right where he stood, you know, when he got that download. And, you know, he went out. He went out and created Empower Network and the first blogging multi-user site, which was on the original WordPress platform.

And from there, it's like, well, what can we do next? Well, let's get people on the right mindset. Let's get people on the right mindset for the products. Right?

What can we do? Well, let's create the inner circle, the inner circle audio vault. So he created this audio vault full of brilliant information, personal development information. It started out as business marketing information.

And then he's like, well, where do we go from here? We have all these brilliant people in Empower Network. What are we going to do next? Well, let's put them all on a freaking Costa Rica.

Let's put them all on a freaking Costa Rica room and let's make the Costa Rica mastermind, you know? So he went and made the Costa Rica mastermind. It was awesome. And after that, you know, the brainstorming, well, how can we take it to the next level?

We have people earning tons and tons of money, right? And I'm going through this very briefly because it was really kind of a brief process. He was like, well, let's just create some cool stuff. So he did it.

It almost got there, right? It's coming. That's just the pre-frame, man. That's embedding it.

All right. So, you know, they went and created the 15k framework. They went and created the 15k framework. They went and created the 15k framework.

They went and created the 15k framework. They took these people earning over $15,000 a month, took the, you know, awesome strategies out of their brain and all the things that really needed to be said, like strategies on SEO. There's a module on SEO in there. You know, there's tons of things inside of that product which are very specific.

There are very specific training modules that you can find in the 15k. Who loves the 15k? Yeah. Every time I'm like, hey, what's your favorite product in the 15k?

And so, you know, I've started acting like a psychic and I'm like, I know your favorite product is the 15k. Then we got the master's course. And the master's course in the best way that I can put it in a very technical product description would be the Costa Rica on acid squared, multiplied, doubled, tripled, then put into a bag of explosions and just, you know, detonated. That's the master's course because you took the most brilliant people in the organization and pulled everything out of their brain to create this immense valuable course and it fit and it made the first core product line, right?

So, when I transitioned into the product director standpoint for Empower about three and a half, four and a half months ago, I was faced with the unique challenge of taking Dave and incepting him into the products. Now, that was a weird thing because it was like, well, how do we take Dave and pull out all of the brilliant information in his brain on being a top producer, you know, building teams and creating mass influence? You know, the things he does best. That guy's just brilliant.

You know? So, I was faced with this unique challenge and John's like, well, put together a full document and we'll just meet with Dave virtually and we'll all sit in a room and we'll figure it out together. I'm like, great. So, I went and I did it very pragmatically.

I put this entire PDF together and I did all these subsections and subpoints and I'm like, man, Dave's going to love this. Now, I knew Dave at this point. I know he's not a very, you know, bullet point, you know, he comes in with his shoes off and he's like, oh, hey, everybody, you know? It's getting there.

Yeah. It's getting there. That's not even it, man. Wait until you hear the laugh.

All right? Again, I'm just pre-framing you. Calm down. All right.

So, we're there and I'm in this big room and Empower, it's like the most official room in the Empower building and it's actually not even official. It's just like a table, you know, because Empower, we're really laid back, you know, we kill it. But, you know, it's not corporate. When you go to the home office, if anybody's been in the home office, it's not very corporate feeling.

Everybody's different colored offices and there's a bunch of ducks everywhere and the lunchroom doesn't smell like bad lunchrooms. It's just nice. So, I put together this document and I'm so excited and Dave's sitting virtually on a laptop in the far end of the, it's like a Google Hangout. It's like a webcast, actually.

And I go through this entire presentation. I'm like, Dave, you're going to love this. I'm building on his ideas, right? He told us the basis of what he wanted for top producer, team builder and mass influence.

But I'm going through all these ideas and I'm giving it all my energy and I'm like, yeah. And so, you know, if you look at subsection B, right, under section C, this is how the affiliates can prosper from this awesome team building formula thing, right? And I go through this entire demonstration and John, of course, is like, wow, this is awesome. You know?

Marge is like, yeah, this is really cool. I expected Dave, you know, to be like, yeah, I like this. I don't want to do this. Let's do something else, right?

All I get from Dave is, appreciate you, brother. I love him. You know? Now, I've heard Dave say that to a lot of people.

Right? That's like his signature move when he's walking through hallways, you know? You could be a man and be like, appreciate you, brother. Walk to a woman and be like, appreciate you, brother.

I've seen him do it to a dog. And you know what the dog did? It pulled out its credit card and laid it on the table. I didn't even know the dog had a credit card table.

Okay? So I'm dumbfounded. You know, I know Dave very well at this point. But I'm dumbfounded at the whole…

I just noticed. What's the time again? You guys are changing it. I'm dumbfounded at the whole process.

And I'm like, okay. So I end up flying out to Costa Rica because, you know, Dave had to go and we got to get more information on it. So I'm like, I'm going to get in the same room as him. You know?

I'm going to corner him with this. And I'm going to take down the PDF. We're just going to do a couple points. Right?

So I go to Costa Rica. Who's heard the story about his house in Costa Rica that he lives in a mansion out there and it's guarded by, like, shotgun guards, everybody? Okay. It sounds funny.

I thought the same thing. And I know Dave. I'm telling the truth about this. Well, we get to Costa Rica and I'm in this really cool Escalade taxi that he got for me.

And I'm going up to the guard, you know, the guard gate where you go to his house. And I'm like, you've got to be shitting me. This thing is here. And so we're pulling up and, you know, secretly I'm one of those guys where, like, somebody tells me there's a bear around the corner and I'm like, bring it on.

You know? I'll wrestle that bear with my hands. So, you know, 11 guys want to fight me. I'm like, yeah, call me back when it's 13.

You know? I'm just… I'm like, okay. I'm not going to do anything.

That goes off. It's so terrible. But I get up and I get to the guard gate and I see this guy and I go into little girl mode. Okay?

I ducked as low as I could because he had seven shotguns strapped to him. In places that, like, shotguns wouldn't even be strapped. He had, like, a butt holster for, like, a tertiary shotgun. So I end up getting into Dave's house.

I go in there and I'm telling him about all these things and I'm like, okay, well, you know, I really brought it down to a couple pages. You know? I could just read this, dude. I think all these really cool things can happen.

And he's like… He was just like, I appreciate it, brother. And before I responded, it hit me. You can't take Dave and put him into this outline.

Right? Dave is a lion. Okay? And if you try to cage a lion, you don't get the same result.

You put a lion in a cage and it's swiping at the air and you're like, hey, jump through that hoop so everyone can see how awesome you jumped through that hoop. Okay? And do this really awesome lion roar. You're never going to get the same result as if you just catch that lion in its natural habitat.

So the best thing that we could do was say, Dave, do what you want to do in Top Producer. Do what you want to do in Team Builder. Do what you want to do in MIF because you guys are the most… You're the most brilliant dude we know.

Why? Because Dave has fucking heart. Right? Does Dave have heart?

Yeah, he does. And he's brilliant. So we did what, you know, any lion capture could do. We would just run behind him with a camera.

Like, do your thing, man. And he stood on the stage and he created three of the best Coraline products that we'll probably ever have. Who owns the products? Who's all in?

Yeah. Well, that's the products to now. We have Top Producer formula, Team Builder formula, and Mass Influence formula. And it's blog, inner circle, TPF, TBF, and MIF.

And what we wanted to do during the product merge was take the products and do it in a way that gives people value. So all the people who owned the current products obviously got the new products. All the people that buy the new products have a window to get the old products. Why?

Because you guys deserve more value. Right? Then we created the all-in library, okay? The all-in library, who knows what the all-in library is?

Yeah, that's what I want to change. I saw like four hands go up. The all-in library is a brand new module course, right? It's a brand new course that anybody who's all-in gets access to it absolutely for free.

You know what it is? It's modules created by the masters of Empower Network. Empower Network, who are the masters in their own craft. So Rami Star-Allen, for instance, she's brilliant at blogging.

Every person in this organization who does something brilliant, we are taking the best strategies that are actually current, right? You know how Google goes through like 15 different animals over the course of like a year? You have Panda and Penguin, and who knows about SEO, knows what I'm talking about. Those are the geeks who got the unexpected journey joke.

Okay. So we have this all-in library. And this all-in library, who's all-in? All-in.

Holy crap. There were like only like four hands that weren't up. That's awesome. Who's all-in?

Yeah. All-inners. Holy crap. I'm surprised you didn't run out of those really cool all-in stickers on your badges.

That's awesome. Okay. You guys in exactly seven days are going to get access to the all-in library. The all-in library is going to be filled with a module not every month, not biweekly, every single week.

A brand new training. Either from Dave. You know, Aaron. Chris.

All these guys who are crushing it. Who loves that? And you know how much you get it for? Free.

That's right. Because you're all-in. And you rock. So that's the products of the future.

Another quick thing, because I'm running out of time. Another quick thing is, for the products in the future, Kolatu, you are going to continually receive plug-ins for your business on the regular. You love that? Yeah.

Who wants an amazing, brilliant pop-up that will make you feel like you're going to be able to do that? I do. I do. I do.

I do. I do. I do. I do.

I do. I do. I do. I do.

I do. This is an amazing, brilliant pop-up that will automatically capture leads for you the second they come to your blog. Woo! That you can customize to basically look like anything.

Let's just launch it tonight, right? That way, next week, you can have a second module in there. Okay? Yeah, all right, cool.

Rob, are you in the, I'm gonna take a little bit extra time, I hope you guys don't hate me. Rob, are you here, man? Rob, Rob, Rob, do you have your computer? Come here, man, real quick.

Grab this mic. Grab this mic. We gotta hurry, because if, you know, I still don't see John, he's probably in here. I'm probably gonna get like one of those canes that pull you off stage.

Rob is brilliant, you just heard about Rob from Mars, he's absolutely awesome. Rob, do you have the, yeah, give Rob a hand over there. Yeah, give Rob a hand, that guy rocks, dude. Do you have, do you have the email from Dave that was prepped for seven days from now?

I'm really hoping this works, this is totally impromptu. You're talking about the email? Yes, the email. The email about the all-in library?

Yes. The email that's supposed to go out next week. Yeah, that we're probably gonna get in trouble for launching right now. The email with the link to that amazing video by you and Amy Starr-Allen.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Really. Can we launch it? When?

Tonight. Today. Yeah, like I just said. You were there?

Now. I'm sorry, hold up. Woo! Hold up, hold up, wait, when do you guys want it?

Now! Yeah, Rob, can we launch it? They want it now. In 30 seconds.

Really? I got like, is anybody in there? Is anybody left? Really?

30 seconds, go to your computer. I don't know how Michelle's gonna feel about this. Watch it, watch it. All right, all right, hold on.

And what I'm gonna do is I'm just gonna put a coming soon module in there for you. On one condition. Nobody tells John or Mars or Michelle. Michelle's about to get on stage.

There's a marketing calendar on this stuff, but you guys deserve it early. All right, on the count of three. Isn't there kind of a phrase for this? You know, like when in Rome?

When in Rome? No, no, I think it's the permission one. Oh, oh, yeah, yeah. It's better to ask for forgiveness than it is for permission.

No, no, no, no, no, no. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. There we go. All right, all right, all right.

So let me put in the coming soon module. There's gonna be a coming soon module in there for the rest of the day. Why? Because I know you guys will sneak out and watch it.

So it's gonna go live at 10 PM. Let's do it. Perfect. Rob, can we get like Jeopardy music or something?

Let's see if I can do this by the time it's done. The power of phones. This is happening. I'm not playing Battleship with Rob.

I know. I can see it on your face. C6, baby. Ah.

All right, brother. Hey, Travvy Trav, will you do the honors? You good? Will you do the honors?

Yeah. Oh. Oh, dude. Oh, you.

Press it. When do you guys want to press? Now. Let's do it.

One more time. All right, so you're probably going to. Now. OK, you guys are probably going to get a text in the next few seconds.

It says, check your email or something like that. Yeah, talk about interactivity. All right, so can I put the last slide up really quickly? I love him.

He's like, I got it. He's not even sitting near the desk. I love him. I love that guy.

Right there. Cool. So I'm going to leave you with this, the question, which is, what is your legend, right? Talking about the journey that this was.

Everybody know the hero's journey? OK. The hero's journey is something that was made very famous by Joseph Campbell. And what it is, it goes all the way from 1 o'clock all the way back to 12 o'clock.

And what it is, is you see it in all the fantasy movies. You see it in any good story. The hero's journey starts with this exposure to a brand new world, right? You guys want to make a new decision.

You want to get somewhere. Well, what do you need? There's always like a sage in the story, like in the Harry Potters and the Hunger Games of the world. There's always that master that comes along, and they're like, well, here are the tools.

Now go slay the dragon, right? This weekend, you got those tools. John Penberthy with his strategies up here, that's your sword, right? You get all these brilliant tools.

You can start hacking away into your destiny. You got Justin Varengia's. The Justin Varengia's. Is Justin Varengia not the weirdest guy in the entire world?

But you know what? He owns it. He owns it. So you got your shield from Justin, because the next time somebody is like, wow, you're weird.

Well, I know somebody weirder. Justin freaking the hippie Jedi Varengia. And Dave's like, ooh, appreciate you, that guy. So you've got them.

You've got those things. And in the next 24 hours, you're going to get the horse that's going to take you into the sunset. And you're going to get the lance. And you're going to get everything you need.

And you're going to be equipped to crush it. So these guys have done something which is brilliant that I got to see over the last three years, OK? You think that six years ago, Justin Varengia knew that he was going to be the hippie Jedi? Maybe somewhere in the back of his mind.

But he stepped into a new place. And he crushed it. And now he's up here wielding lightsabers on the stage and doing weird sex moves with Dee. You guys see that yesterday?

That was brilliant. But it takes balls to do that. That guy rocks, right? Yeah.

All of these people, including many of you, have stepped into your legend. So I leave you with this. Over the next 24 hours and after the event, ask yourself the question, what is your legend? OK?

And step into that place. Thank you. Love you. So now I'm going to introduce somebody really quickly.

Sorry, guys, if I took a lot of extra time. I'm going to introduce somebody who is absolutely brilliant now. This girl is, you saw her on the last E! Ann stage.

She's a full-time mother. She crushes out more work. She has more talent in her pinky than I know in hundreds of thousands of other people. She's just got this crazy brain that shouldn't even fit in her body.

She's like four foot nothing. And she's got the talent potential of a 12-foot giant. She's absolutely brilliant. She's known as the girl blogger.

You guys know her for all the webcasts, right? Michelle Shafer. Give it up for Michelle Shafer.

God-given talent is to understand how to deliver valuable products, how to organize things in a way that makes the marketing and the selling effortless.

We're going to cover recognition for someone who really deserves it that's in the room, that I don't know if they get brilliant recognition, but I think they deserve a little bit more. I'm going to make a promise to you and we're going to go over that in the next slide.

I want to talk about the people of Empower because the people of Empower is really where the heart's at. Empower, am I right? Yeah, you guys rock. Okay. It's just a known fact.

It's on Wikipedia. We're going to cover the core competencies, which is kind of the learning curve to just about anything that you learn, right? There's a set of four steps that you really have to go through to understand anything. And it's kind of something that even happens before you even know that you don't know something.

Yeah, she's like, all right, we're gonna cover products, the history, then we're going to talk about inception, not Leonardo DiCaprio. Okay, it's not happening. We're going to talk about the inception of Dave into the products, because that was an interesting process. And it's definitely one of the coolest things I've ever had the experience of going through with Dave. And it was just, you know, mind shifting.

And I think it'll bring a lot of clarity to the products, because Dave is a huge part of the products, right? It's his mind that, you know, took Top Producer and Team Builder in Costa Rica, and you know, his whole journey out to the middle of the Amazon where he's like, just download it into my brain. Then we're going to talk about the products in the future, where they're going, what we're going to do to build upon the immense value of the products you already own, right? Then all the way through the team, because you guys have a team that I don't know if you really even know about. Cover a recap.

And then I'm going to talk about living your legend, because over the last three years with Empower, there is something that I kind of realized, and it's pretty powerful.

You know, by watching the leaders, by being on the sidelines and really getting to see everything from a different perspective, I realized something that's brilliant about these guys and brilliant about you, and it totally intertwines.

If you did not put on deodorant, please stretch forward.

Or if you naturally smell good, go ahead and stretch up. And if you did both, you're in a league of your own. Start hugging people. It's great. All right.

While you're standing up, I want to tell you that there's somebody in this room who deserves a lot of recognition. Somebody who has made immense sacrifices to be here. Somebody who really has gone through unknown hurdles and known hurdles, but things that not everybody realizes, right? Things that have really changed the way they believe.

That person's you. So please go ahead and give yourself a huge round of applause, because you guys are the heart of this organization. All right, you guys can go ahead and sit back down. My promise to you is by the end of this 20 minutes and 30... wow, that went by quick.

Did you guys change? Did you guys change that? 20 minutes and 25 seconds. You're going to have product clarity. I'm going to make a lot more jokes.

I may do a Dave Wood impression. Yeah, hey. We're going to go over, you know, the future of the products, where they're at now, where they were before, and how that came from, you know, Costa Rica and the crazy download in Dave's brain, all the way to the new Coraline products. Why it's the Coraline products and what we're going to do to build on that Coraline products without you all-inners having to dump more money into the existing products.

I don't know if you know this, but every time, there's a reason we use chat role, even, right? Every time you guys take an action, we keep the metrics on it.

Why? Because your voice, your input, everything that you do is extraordinarily important, right? You guys are changing the face of Empower and don't even know it. Sarah Leanne, for instance, that girl has submitted more tickets than I know what to do with, right? I'm looking in the tickets of the blog feature requests and what can be fixed while we're going through the open beta.

Her and her family is brilliant, by the way. I mean, they're a beautiful couple.

And they're brilliant from her alone.

There were almost a dozen changes that went into Kalatu. All of you have done brilliant things for Kalatu. So thank you, Kevin Sousa. If you guys know Kevin Sousa, Kevin. Yeah.

Kevin, at the last event, he was in a wheelchair, right? He was being pushed around in the wheelchair and had this major surgery he went through, him and his wife. Did you know that they went through the 42 day blogging challenge?

You know what that is? That's a husband and wife couple crushing it. Am I right? Crushing it. Because there is always an amazing woman behind a brilliant man.

You guys rock, the women of Empower. Let me hear you. Hell yeah. And sometimes there's an amazing woman in front of a man, or just a single mother. So let me hear the single mothers of Empower.

Who are out there? Crushing it. You know, Michelle is going to come up after me. She does brilliant things. She's a single mother.

She's crushing it. Crushing it. You guys rock. So let's talk about the core competencies, or the competencies. We're missing a C, but that's okay.

Unconscious and competence. That's when you don't know that you don't know something, that's kind of before. You know, like let's take Justin Verrengia, for example. 10 years ago, Justin Verrengia, I didn't know that he needed a blog, right? He didn't know that. He didn't need to do it.

So it was a stage of unconscious incompetence. Now, I know the word incompetence is like, you know, when somebody, when you hear incompetent, like you've always heard that one guy go, oh, you're incompetent. The first thing that comes to my mind as well, you're a dick, you know, I'm in trouble for my language too at the end of this. This is brilliant. Unconscious incompetence, but what it really means is you're just in a state of not knowing, right? You haven't actually attained all the knowledge or taken all the actions that you need to reach competency.

So the first step is unconscious incompetence. Then you move into something called conscious incompetence. That's when you know you don't know how to do it, or you know how to do it, but I'm sorry, you know that you don't know how to do it, but, you, what the hell? I am totally, I'm like reading this backwards. I just got dyslexia in this.

You guys know that I just got dyslexia in this very moment on stage. It's awesome. You know that you don't know how to do something, and it bothers the hell out of you, right? That's what. Like, you know, I don't know how to blog.

I need to learn how to blog, and it sucks. Right? Then you move into something called conscious competence. And what conscious competence is, is that you know how to do something, but you know it's going to take a lot of work. You know how to do it, but you're like, man, I got to really work at this.

And you start doing it, you start crushing it. And then you move into something called unconscious competence. And that's where it goes into your subconscious. It's like second nature. You're like blogging, like Sarah Leanne, you know?

Right? Am I right? Okay. So let's talk about the products, of history.

When the products first came out, you guys have heard the story of Dave where he was in the middle of the jungle. And he's like, I received this brain download, you know, Empower Network came to me in this huge dream out in the middle of the mountains of Costa Rica. And it's actually true, it probably did. I wish I could find that spot.

There's probably like an alien crop circle right where he stood, you know, when he got that download. And, you know, he went out and created Empower Network and the first blogging multi-user site, which was on the original WordPress platform.

Well, let's put them all in Costa Rica.

Let's put them all in a Costa Rica room and let's make the Costa Rica mastermind, you know? So he went and made the Costa Rica mastermind. It was awesome. And after that, you know, the brainstorming, well, how can we take it to the next level? We have people earning tons and tons of money, right?

And I'm going through this very briefly, because it was really kind of a brief process. He was like, well, let's just create some cool stuff. So he did it. It almost got there, right? It's coming.

That's just the pre-frame, man. That's embedding it. All right. So, you know, they went and created the 15k framework.

And the Master's Course, in the best way that I can put it in a very technical product description, would be the Costa Rica on acid, squared, multiplied, doubled, tripled, then put into a bag of explosions and just, you know, detonated.

That's the Master's Course, because you took the most brilliant people in the organization and pulled everything out of their brain to create this immensely valuable course, and it made the first core product line, right? So, when I transitioned into the product director standpoint for Empower about three and a half, four and a half months ago, I was faced with the unique challenge of taking Dave and incepting him into the products. Now, that was a weird thing, because it was like, well, how do we take Dave and pull out all of the brilliant information in his brain on being a top producer, you know, building teams and creating mass influence? You know, the things he does best. That guy's just brilliant.

You know? So, I was faced with this unique challenge and John's like, well, put together a full document and we'll just meet with Dave virtually and we'll all sit in a room and we'll figure it out together. I'm like, great. So, I went and did it very pragmatically. I put this entire PDF together and I did all these subsections and subpoints and I'm like, man, Dave's going to love this.

Now, I knew Dave at this point. I know he's not very, you know, bullet point, you know, he comes in with his shoes off and he's like, oh, hey, everybody, you know? It's getting there. Yeah. It's getting there.

That's not even it, man. Wait until you hear the laugh. All right? Again, I'm just pre-framing you. Calm down.

All right. So, we're there and I'm in this big room in Empower, it's like the most official room in the Empower building, and it's actually not even official. It's just like a table, you know, because Empower, we're really laid back, you know, we kill it. But, you know, it's not corporate. When you go to the home office, if anybody's been in the home office, it's not very corporate feeling.

Everybody's got different colored offices and there's a bunch of ducks everywhere and the lunchroom doesn't smell like bad lunchrooms. It's just nice. So, I put together this document and I'm so excited, and Dave's sitting virtually on a laptop on the far end, it's like a Google Hangout. It's like a webcast, actually. And I go through this entire presentation.

I'm like, Dave, you're going to love this. I'm building on his ideas, right? He told us the basis of what he wanted for Top Producer, Team Builder, and Mass Influence.

I expected Dave to be like, yeah, I like this, I don't want to do this.

Let's do something else, right? All I get from Dave is, appreciate you, brother. I love him. You know? Now, I've heard Dave say that to a lot of people.

Right? That's like his signature move when he's walking through hallways, you know? You could be a man and be like, appreciate you, brother. Walk up to a woman and be like, appreciate you, brother. I've seen him do it to a dog.

And you know what the dog did? It pulled out its credit card and laid it on the table. I didn't even know the dog had a credit card. Okay? So I'm dumbfounded.

You know, I know Dave very well at this point. But I'm dumbfounded at the whole...

And I'm going to bring down the PDF. We're just going to do a couple points. Right? So I go to Costa Rica.

Who's heard the story about his house in Costa Rica, that he lives in a mansion out there and it's guarded by, like, shotgun guards, everybody?

So, you know, 11 guys want to fight me, I'm like, yeah, call me back when it's 13.

You know? I'm just... I'm like, okay. I'm not going to do anything about that.

It's so terrible. But I get up and I get to the guard gate and I see this guy and I go into little girl mode. Okay? I ducked as low as I could, because he had seven shotguns strapped to him, in places that shotguns wouldn't even be strapped.

And he's like, he was just like, I appreciate it, brother.

Do what you want to do in MIF, because you guys are the most... you're the most brilliant dude we know.

Who's all-in?

It's a brand new course that anybody who's all-in gets access to absolutely for free.

You know what it is? It's modules created by the masters of Empower Network, who are the masters in their own craft. So Rami Star-Allen, for instance, she's brilliant at blogging. Every person in this organization who does something brilliant, we are taking the best strategies that are actually current, right?

You know how Google goes through like 15 different animals over the course of like a year? You have Panda and Penguin, and who knows about SEO knows what I'm talking about. Those are the geeks who got the Unexpected Journey joke. Okay. So we have this All-In Library.

And this All-In Library, who's all-in? All-in. Holy crap. There were like only four hands that weren't up. That's awesome.

Who's all-in? Yeah. All-inners. Holy crap. I'm surprised you didn't run out of those really cool all-in stickers on your badges.

That's awesome. Okay. You guys, in exactly seven days, are going to get access to the All-In Library. The All-In Library is going to be filled with a module not every month, not biweekly, every single week. A brand new training.

Either from Dave, you know, Aaron, Chris, all these guys who are crushing it. Who loves that?

And you know how much you get it for? Free. That's right. Because you're all-in. And you rock.

So that's the products of the future. Another quick thing, because I'm running out of time. Another quick thing is, for the products in the future, Kalatu, you are going to continually receive plug-ins for your business on the regular. You love that? Yeah.

Who wants an amazing, brilliant pop-up that will make you feel like you're going to be able to do that? I do, I do. This is an amazing, brilliant pop-up that will automatically capture leads for you the second they come to your blog. Woo!

That you can customize to basically look like anything. Woo! Yeah. All right, cool. So that stuff's coming.

It's brilliant. And you're going to receive communications about it much better than we have in the past, because you guys deserve instantaneous communications. So do me a favor and make sure you're on all of our lists, okay? Make sure you're on all of our updates. For all you new members, get on our list.

Make sure that you're receiving Empower emails, drop them into your primary folder. I know there's a lot of emails that come, but you got to be in the know, you got to be one of the first people to know about the products to sell the products first. Am I right? Cool. So we're talking about your team, not talking about your downline, okay? Your team is the Empower Network corporate team. Marge, me, John, everybody, Kristen, okay, Rob, Yang Lin, all these people, Andrea, Bonnie, Skiff's dad who put this whole event together, okay, the people at Empower Network, you get to call them your team, okay? When you're talking to people you say, I'll get my team on it. Why? Because we're not some random person behind a desk, we are here for you to kill it for you, because you guys deserve it, right? You guys are the foundation, okay? You have a real person on the other end of the line, Zach, all of our customer service reps, real people on the other line who want to crush it for you, and you have access to us, we are here for you, and that's part of the experience, right? That goes into products.

So let's see here, cool, so what's the next one, recap. Wow, I actually did that with a few minutes left. Okay, we went through recognition, because that was my favorite part so far. You guys, I love you guys, you know that I love you guys, right, and we will do everything we can to make the products feel like your products, your identity, every time you give feedback, know that it's heard, okay? So, made a promise to you, I actually made it through all of this stuff, I kept it, right, we talked about the people of Empower Network, the people of Empower Network right here. Let me ask a quick question, who went through the Inner Circle in the last three or four weeks, who heard from Policy Q and Cassandra Lee, the power couple? All right, can you guys just really quickly stand up and do your intro?

I went to bed and had nightmares and good dreams about this. Check this out, no, you guys got to do it just right now, you got it. Yeah, give it up, I love those guys, right. The people of Empower, we know who you are, you are not a number, you are a person, okay? You guys rock. Oh, hell yeah. While we're at it, Unstoppable Tribe, Dream Team, everybody, you guys rock, man. I don't actually know all the other teams' names right now. Team Blade, where are you? Yeah, all right, you guys rock. Yes, that guy's excited, haha.

All right, went through the history, went through the inception of Dave, and you heard the awesome weird Dave laugh, which I'm telling you, I hope he does it. That thing is freaking amazing, it's just bottle that into a product, you just play it on repeat whenever you want. The products now, the future, and the team. So since we have a little bit of time left, I think we should break a few rules. You guys up for breaking a few rules? Only if you get excited about it. Are you guys, what are you doing, break a few rules? Yeah, I love that. Okay, how are you sir, that's so awesome, you just dropped a piece of paper, you want to grab that real quick for me? Can you please grab that for me? I'm so sorry, let me grab this right here. You are, check that out. Can you read that for me? It looks like it was yours. Can I get a mic for this guy real quick, please? That would be super epic. Mike, runner, holy crap, there's one up there. Anticipation, I don't know why she said that, but I like it.

All right, this is great. Hey, Trav, can we have the All-In Library early? Looting, what do you think? Yeah, we won it now. You're awesome. Once your name stand... standpoint, okay, he was staying, I got to stand behind him, I write, okay. So let's see if we can go ahead and do that, because I actually still don't see John or Marge, and you know what, reinforcements are good, I'll... we can get the video, because if it's a photograph of his face and then I wouldn't see him... subscribe so we can get an awful big approval, right, we've got to use welcome. Oh, fantastic. You know what, there's no marketing calendar behind this stuff, but I think that, I mean, since you guys had this brilliant idea, and I'm gonna get to blame it on you, let's just launch it tonight. Let's just launch it tonight, right? That way, next week, you can have a second module in there. Okay? Yeah, all right, cool.

Rob, are you in the... I'm gonna take a little bit extra time, I hope you guys don't hate me.

Rob is brilliant, you just heard about Rob from Marge, he's absolutely awesome. Rob, do you have the... yeah, give Rob a hand over there.

Yeah, give Rob a hand, that guy rocks, dude. Do you have the email from Dave that was prepped for seven days from now? I'm really hoping this works, this is totally impromptu. You're talking about the email? Yes, the email.

The email about the All-In Library? Yes. The email that's supposed to go out next week. Yeah, that we're probably gonna get in trouble for launching right now. The email with the link to that amazing video by you and Amy Star-Allen.

Nobody tells John or Marge or Michelle.

Hey, Trav, Trav, will you do the honors? You good? Will you do the honors?

Yeah. Oh. Oh, dude. Oh, you. Press it.

When do you guys want to press? Now. Let's do it. One more time. All right, so you're probably going to.

Now. Okay, you guys are probably going to get a text in the next few seconds.

Okay.

You got Justin Verrengia's... the Justin Verrengia's. Is Justin Verrengia not the weirdest guy in the entire world? But you know what?

He owns it. He owns it. So you got your shield from Justin, because the next time somebody is like, wow, you're weird, well, I know somebody weirder, Justin freaking the hippie Jedi Verrengia.

So these guys have done something which is brilliant that I got to see over the last three years, okay? You think that six years ago, Justin Verrengia knew that he was going to be the hippie Jedi? Maybe somewhere in the back of his mind.

But he stepped into a new place. And he crushed it. And now he's up here wielding lightsabers on the stage and doing weird dance moves with Dee. You guys see that yesterday? That was brilliant.

But it takes balls to do that. That guy rocks, right? Yeah. All of these people, including many of you, have stepped into your legend. So I leave you with this.

Over the next 24 hours and after the event, ask yourself the question, what is your legend? Okay? And step into that place. Thank you. Love you.

So now I'm going to introduce somebody really quickly. Sorry, guys, if I took a lot of extra time. I'm going to introduce somebody who is absolutely brilliant now. This girl is, you saw her on the last E! And stage.

You guys know her from all the webcasts, right? Michelle Shafer.

Give it up for Michelle Shafer.
