Everyone, welcome to our Monday night Empower Hour call, which we do every single Monday night at 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. My name is Tracy Walker, and it is my pleasure and privilege to be hosting this call tonight and sharing some valuable information that I personally believe can be of, I don't know, of great resource to you as well as great value to you if you choose to use it.
And that is pretty much how I view anything. There are tons of people out there that have, have wealth of information. Sometimes we know that their information is out there, but we choose to ignore it for one reason or another. We may not be ready for it a certain period of time in our lives. And some of us just are ready to take the bull right by the horn and literally apply the information that we find after seeking it, something I learned a long time ago.
And I know that many of you have probably heard this phrase, well, actually there's two phrases, very, very common cliche. Number one, you can take a horse to the water, but you can't make him drink it. I know that you've heard that one. And then there's a second one. And it goes, when the student is ready, the teacher will appear.
Now, as you know, just upon hearing those things, for some people, you know, it goes in one ear out the other. For other people, it's something that they say, that they don't really internalize the meaning of it. And for others, it's a valuable, valuable piece of information that we hold on to because we understand the true significance and the deep-rooted meaning of those phrases. And so tonight, you're going to have the choice because I, and no one am I calling your horse, okay, and you just get the point of what I'm saying, right? I am going to lead you somewhere, right?
I'm going to take you somewhere, right? And, you know, again, I'm not a horse, right? But you're a human being. You're a business owner. You may own a business, you know, outside of where I'm building a business.
It doesn't really matter because principles are principles. They apply, you know, they apply across the board, okay? So I'm going to take you somewhere, and I can only encourage you to drink it. Okay? Either you're going to stick your neck down in that well and take a gulp of the water, or you're not, right, or you're not.
The other side of the phrase, or the other phrase that, you know, when the student is ready, the teacher will appear, is kind of that same thing. A lot of you are on this call right now, and it's not a coincidence that you're here. It's not a coincidence that today, you know, I'm sharing a message for you to hear. It's just I just don't believe in coincidences. I believe that everything, everything is lined up according to your heart's desires.
And sometimes what we think we want isn't really what we want because consciously you may be wanting something else, but subconsciously you're feeling and thinking something else. And that horse is led by the subconscious. I just want you to understand that. That horse is led by the subconscious. The subconscious is, you know, what's controlling everything.
Okay? You know, deep down inside. So when you hear me say things like you're programming or, you know, you've been doing things the way you've been doing things and you're getting what you've been getting, it's not because consciously you're not aware of those things. It's subconsciously you're still guiding the horse the exact same way, okay, as the jockey. And so I'm going to lead you somewhere tonight.
I'm going to take you somewhere you can choose to drink or not. I am here to share something with you. So the assumption is that you are ready, right? When the student is ready, the teacher will appear. The assumption is that you are ready.
And so what I'm going to ask you to do, especially if you are listening to this call and you are wanting or you are desiring a breakthrough in your business, and a lot of times the breakthroughs can come mentally. Sometimes the breakthroughs can come emotionally. And sometimes the breakthroughs can come spiritually. Sometimes the breakthroughs can come physically. But I am almost willing to gamble on the fact that the breakthroughs financially will generally come after one, several, or all of the previous types of breakthroughs you can have, right?
Because the financials. And the financial aspect of this whole thing in business is it's based on a particular way that you dial where it's tuned into, like a radio station. And if your dial is not tuned on or right there on the station of financial abundance, you can want it to be there. Okay. They are all you want it to be.
But unless it's there, then you will not tune into the station of financial abundance. You will not experience the windfall in your physical reality of financial abundance because your subconscious dial is tuned into something else. And a lot of this has to do with you going deep and asking, well, what is it I'm really tuned into? Really tuned into, not purely just on the surface, what do I want it to be tuned into? What is it right now tuned into?
And if that dial is not tuned into what you want it to be tuned into, and the best way to tell, if you want to know how or if you want to know if your dial is tuned into the right place, I want you to look around you right now. And I don't mean physically around you, your room, your office, you know, the car, or whatever. I'm talking about your life, figuratively. Look around your life. And if you are not attracting the things that you want into your life, that is a very clear indication that your dial is tuned in somewhere else.
Now, you don't have to like that I just said that. You don't have to enjoy that I just said that. And you know what? You honestly don't even have to agree with what I just said. But once again, I share with you at the very beginning, I am going to tell you what I just said.
I'm going to take you somewhere, and like a buffet table, you have the choice, the God-given choice and free will to pick up off the table what you choose to eat. However, I am choosing to put things on this buffet table that can actually nourish you. You can resist or you can receive. Okay? So those types of breakthroughs, one, several, or all, have to happen before the financial one actually kicks in.
Right? And why? Well, because on a very basic level, money is energy. And I have said this on other calls, and I've said this time and time again, but sometimes it doesn't sink in fully the first time. And so because it is my truth and it is because it is a message that I believe, I'm going to keep saying it because I – I need you to understand it and get it.
Money is energy. If you want a lot of money, you have to speed up and gather a lot of that energy. Now, where does money come from? Well, the money that you're looking for in your business comes from other people. It is purely a function.
It is purely a function. You are making a financial transaction, meaning you are selling something, offering something, a product, a service, something that you have in exchange for the money. There is something that you have in exchange for the money. If you do not have anything in exchange for the money, then, ah-ha-ha, therein lies your breakthrough moment. That's why you don't have any money or as much money as you would want because if you are not providing something that people are willing to pay their money for, then logically why would anybody give you any?
Unless they owe you money or unless you're still working in a career or a job, maybe you love it or you don't, but you're going somewhere and you are willingly or unwillingly trading your time for it. You are offering something for the money. Time, you may be offering products, services, and so forth. You may be offering, but you have to be offering something. Otherwise, there is no money.
It doesn't matter how bad you want it. It doesn't even matter really, and hear what I say, it doesn't even really matter how much you pray for it because praying for it without them doing the work behind what's required for it is in vain. It's in vain. So you've got to be exchanging something where you are creating a financial transaction, and if you want a lot of money, then you have to make a lot of financial transactions. Follow this logical equation with me.
Energy is money. If you want a lot of money, you're either going to trade a lot of time, which is an option, or you can sell a lot of products, services, and things of that sort, okay? And the more financial transactions you create, then the more money you can accumulate. Now, here's where some people find a pitfall. The pitfall comes in when you realize that you need or desire more money than time that you actually have to exchange for it.
When you realize that, wait a minute, you've got 24 hours of work in your day, right? And you realize that you need to take a lot more time than what you have, you know? If you know how much time you can have, then you're really running out of energy. And if you really want some energy, you need to get some energy. And if you really want to grow, you need to talk to you.
But when you realize that you need to get some energy, you need to make good connections with the world. That's how you know you're in a business, right? You only have 24 possible hours in a day, right? in that 24-hour period, you started to automatically go into a question and answer period. Now, if you are fine with the money that you're earning in your 24-hour period, you don't really have a reason to go into a question and answer period because you're not questioning anything.
You're fine. You're happy. And that's phenomenal. No one is here to judge that if you're happy with it. That's your life.
But if you are wondering why you have more money at the end of your money, then the question and answer period has begun. Then you start seeking ways that you can generate an income, i.e., create financial transactions outside of the time limitations that we are all restricted by. Okay. And once you start seeking ways that you can generate an income, and once you start doing that, seriously considering that, you actually start to be open to the idea of things that are different. Things that are different.
And when I say things that are different, I mean business, maybe for some being an entrepreneur where you may not have considered that previously. So it's different for you now to consider it. Some of you, entrepreneurship, is not different, but the type of business is different, i.e., you may have been currently running, let's say, a lawn mowing business or an accounting firm or a hair salon or, you know, whatever. But now you're actually considering making financial transactions in another way, such as network marketing, affiliate marketing. For some of you, MLM.
So entrepreneurship isn't new to you, but the way that you build your business, you're now open to considering those things. All right. And so now you realize that you need more financial transactions, which rightfully so, because the more financial transactions you have, the more money you can accumulate. And that is a pure function of the number. Okay.
Okay. If you have a number of people, if you have a lot of people giving you their money in exchange for something that they absolutely believe can help them, then you are storing up the energy. Energy is money. To get more money, you have to have more financial transactions. To have more financial transactions, you have got to let people know that you actually have a solution to their problem.
Now, the more people's problems you solve, then the more people are willing to pay you for such solution. Now, if you walk down that logical path I just gave you, it's not that hard to make money. Right? People say, oh, money is so hard. It's not hard.
You keep saying it's hard because you want to compare it to your existing way of knowledge or your existing knowledge base of how to make it. And what I'm trying to open up to you is the door of understanding leverage, of expanding, and of really understanding what makes people give you their money willingly and have a good reputation as well as being able to sleep at night because of your good character, knowing that what you are doing is of the highest and utmost respect for yourself and the other. And I want you to know that you are not a party who has chosen to do business with you. Breaking it down, if you want more money, it's not the prayers that are going to help. What's going to help is more financial transactions.
If you're saying, okay, yeah, yeah, Trace, I know that, but how do I get more financial transactions? Well, that's the point of this call because I'm going to give you some information that you can either take or leave. Take or leave. All I can do is share with you what has worked for me. I'm not going to get into a long, drawn-out story about my whole life, but bottom line is this.
I grew up in Chicago in the inner city. I went to high school, got all A's and B's in the National Honor Society. I graduated high school. I went to college. I went to Florida A&M University.
I was in the elite business school at FAMU, and I graduated out of a five-year program, with a master's degree in business and a concentration in marketing. I left that institution without a job. It took me one year, which was the fall of 99. I graduated with an MBA. It took me one year until the year 2000 for me to find a position.
That really should have been clue number one, but I didn't get it right then because I was so focused on getting a job. I was so focused on getting a job. I was so focused on getting a job. I was so focused on getting a job that it never crossed my mind that maybe, possibly, there are other options. Like I'm sharing here with you tonight.
I was so focused on what I thought I wanted that I didn't realize that there were other options for me to attain my goal, which ultimately was to just be rich. I mean, I wanted to do stuff. I wanted to be a chief market officer somewhere. At the end of the day, for what? Because I wanted to make a lot of money, right?
I wasn't doing that for pure charity. I was doing that so that I could get a job where they would pay me a lot of money. That was the only reason. But I didn't get the job. So fine.
Took me a year. I got a job in Atlanta. Moved to Atlanta in 2000. Worked for a company where my hours were ridiculous, 12-hour shifts. Hated it.
Prayed for a change. September the 11th of 2001 took place. My company, my sector of business was affected. Therefore, by February of 2002, I was laid off. So it took me a year to find a job.
Then I worked for a bank. I worked for about a year and a half. And then I was laid off. Imagine that. So I took my severance pay, and I took Georgia Unemployment, and I started a real estate investment company, in which that real estate investment company did phenomenally well.
In that company that I started, it was pure entrepreneurship. If you think about Robert Kiyosaki's cash flow quadrant, this was the S. This was the S quadrant, right? Because I was self-employed. Okay?
I was self-employed. And so this business did well. So I'm going to let you run. And with your imagination in reference to what the lifestyle was like for me, it was great. I wasn't struggling.
However, the market changed. As a result, I had a lot of deals that I had negotiated with banks where now buyers could not get loans. The lending practices changed. As a result, I could not sell properties, right? I was in the business of making financial transactions, right?
I sold houses to buyers. After negotiating short sales with lenders. And I would make these transactions. Well, when I couldn't make any more transactions because someone else controlled who could get the money and who could not get the money, everything collapsed. If anybody has ever understood, or felt that they have experienced a great hardship, let me tell you about a great hardship.
When you go from that type of income down to virtually zero, and you find yourself in a food stamp office with Gucci bags and nail sunglasses. Nicole Cooper, my sister, knows that story oh too well. Why? Because she had the same one. Ironically enough, it's not that easy to walk into the government office knowing that just last year, you, the lenders, you had the same one.
You had the same one. You had the same one. The last thing you were even thinking was needing government assistance for food. That is ridiculous. But I found myself there having to humble myself down and say, you know what, I need help.
So I was introduced to another form of entrepreneurship, which is what I just shared with you. You then start asking questions, and then you start saying, okay, well, I'm already an entrepreneur, but the way that I've currently been doing business is, you know, it's not working out the way I want. I can't make enough financial transactions this way. How do I make more financial transactions? How do I have more control over what is going on?
Maybe not 100% control, but more. More control than me needing a bank to give my buyer money to buy from me. I needed more control than that. So January 2007, I started in network marketing, traditional network marketing, mind you, and realized very quickly how, how wonderful it was, how I enjoyed presenting opportunity to people. I came from a place where I needed a change, and so the passion I had for change was what came out, and people that also desired change could feel what I was saying and would sign up.
I did not struggle in network marketing. I did well in network marketing. Now, I didn't do well enough to save my house from going to foreclosure. I didn't do well enough to, you know, keep my cars from going into repossession. During that time, I didn't do well enough to be able to take myself off of food stamps because I was already so far in the hole.
It was really just allowing me to, you know, breathe and sleep some more at night. It really wasn't paying any car notes because at that time, you added up all those car notes. It was probably about $3,000. I mean, when you get behind, they don't want a partial payment for the most part. They kind of want you to bring up all or a majority.
And so, you know, it was just a time where I had to re-evaluate how I was currently building my business and living my life. It was just a question and answer period. What can I do different? How can I find people who are doing it different? Can I learn from them?
What do they know that I don't know? There are people out here making a lot of money. In real estate at that time, when I had pretty much shut down, how do I learn how to be better? That seeking led me to the Internet because I realized even in my traditional way of building the network marketing business, I was capped on the number of hours I could physically do a presentation for someone. I was capped on my geographical location and whether I could physically get to a person's house to do a presentation, or they could get to mine, or we meet at a hotel, or we meet at a restaurant, or whatever the location was going to be, I physically had to be present in order to present the opportunity and then be in a position to offer financial transactions to take place.
I had to physically be there. And once again, I realized, well, I mean, I don't make any money if I'm not here. It was the same problem. I just had applied it to a totally different environment. And I said, Tracy, you are thinking the exact same, well, this isn't working.
Yeah, you started another business, but you brought your new business in with the same old stinking thinking you had, and that's why you're really stuck again. So I said, all right, how can I just change all of that? That led me to the Internet in 2008. And in 2008, I didn't know jack about the Internet. In 2008, I didn't know anything about it.
I didn't know anything about YouTube, not YouTube, MySpace at that time. I didn't know anything about that. I didn't know anything about MyStory marketing. I didn't know anything about HTML, building lead capture pages, auto responder campaigns, Facebook around that time. I didn't know anything about any of that stuff.
And so I had to decide that I was going to learn it. That was it. I had to learn it. Because the only way somebody was going to do business, with me, was if I proposed a financial transaction that made sense to them as well as me. That is the only way people are going to give you their money willingly.
If you get that point, then, you know, you're halfway there. Like, you're so far behind 85%, 90% of the rest of the people on the planet. You have got to offer an opportunity for people to make a financial transaction with you. I said, how can I do this without having to physically be present? So I had to learn it.
So now we fast forward five years later, and we're here on this call. I'm not going to go into a whole bunch of accolades about different things, because really, at this point in time, it doesn't matter. I want to share with you, because it's credibility for you to understand that I'm not here. I wasn't asked to be on this call by Dave Sharp just to blow smoke up your behind, just to fill time, just to fulfill an obligation that we have in reference to the Empower Idol call. That's not real.
That's not really why I'm here. I'm here because I've earned it, number one, and I'm blessed to even be asked and to be able to share this knowledge with you. They're not doing me any favors by doing this. I have to work and stay, quote-unquote, worthy to be part of an elite group of marketers that are so humble and gracious, that want to share. So it's my pleasure.
So that's why I'm here. If you want to know all the other details, go Google it or something. I don't know. Go look at the email from Dave Sharp or whoever invited you here. Maybe they sent an email to you.
You can go check that out. My point is that after all of that, I had to figure it out, just like any of you are going to have to figure it out. Now, the cool thing is I'm going to give you three things tonight that will cut the learning curve for you, but I just, it makes my skin crawl, because I know I am speaking right now, from the truest sense of truth in my heart. I am speaking from a place of so wanting you to get this, so that you can go out and be ultra successful, that I can't hold anything back, and I'm not. But, you know, there's still this burning thing that says, somebody is going to still get off of this call and say they don't understand.
I won't know how they don't understand. I don't know and won't know why they won't understand. Maybe it's because you're multitasking while I'm talking. Maybe it's because you're trying to watch the football game at the same time you're trying to learn how to build your business. Now, if you're not looking to learn how to build your business, and you just want to listen to this call, you know, shout out to you.
That's wonderful. My suggestion, here's this leading the horse to the whale part, my suggestion is that you turn off all your distractions. My suggestion is that you actually, for a change, pay attention, and you listen to somebody who can share something with you that can be of help to you. Many kind of people are offering the SOS life preserver to you, and you keep turning your head the other way, all the while you're flapping your hands in the pool, and you can't figure out why you're drowning. It's because you're resisting the information.
You're multitasking. That is not, listen to what I say, multitasking is not a habit of the wealthy. It's not. You and I, like many others, were taught to multitask as employees. Why?
Because we were paid to do multiple things at once for a flat fee within a, flat period of time. Spend the corporation's money so that you could get more stuff done. That's why you multitask. We've been taught that from school, elementary, high school, postgraduate, into the workplace and workforce. You are a master at multitasking.
And if you don't like where you are right now in your life, you have to be honest and ask yourself, is that a skill that pays you? Because if multitasking is not a skill that pays you, I suggest you replace it with a more lucrative skill. Now, if multitasking does pay you, then carry on. Carry on, my friend. I am not here to remove from you what you want in your life.
I'm only here to share with you how you can add things that may be missing, not to take away what you want to stay. So eliminate some of those habits. That don't serve you, i.e., one, several, or all of the breakthroughs, or those other breakthroughs that happen for the financial in it. So since I've been on the Internet, and thank goodness, since I just happened to go to school for marketing, I didn't realize right away how some of the training that I actually had in college can help me. Like, I'm not totally against college, you know, or anything like that.
That's what I am against. That's what I am against. I am against you spending $30,000, $40,000, $50,000, $60,000 to attain knowledge or education in something that once you get that knowledge, you get out of that schooling, and then you go work in a field where you don't even apply any of what you just spent $60,000 to go learn, and be in debt as a result of it. That's really what I'm against. You're doing what you want the school to do.
That's right. You're in alignment. So you, and you're $250,000, it's okay for you. You may not like it, but you can live with it because you're happy all along. You don't see yourself doing anything different.
But for those of you... For those of us that, or you that go to school for A, and then come out, don't have a job, and then go do B, and then still got to pay money on education from A, see, that, for me, that's the problem. And if anybody would call anything a scam, I'd probably be one of the first people to say that, that is it. When you are forced to pay for an education that they told you needed, that now you can see you didn't need. You could actually know something.
In fact, you could actually be trained on the job to do what you needed to do, for the most part. You didn't need $8,000, $60,000, $40,000 in debt to do what you do. You could have started that and learned that and through experience mastered it. But that's a whole other story. The education that people share with you who have what you potentially want or what you do want or more than what you want or whatever, the people that share it with you, the people who do it, dang near for free, and in some cases, absolutely free, like this call right here tonight, the information I'm going to share with you, literally, it's worth tens of thousands of dollars.
And because you're not paying the tens of thousands of dollars, you're not listening. Silly. What you're saying is, I'll just listen to the recording. You are always putting off for tomorrow what you can do today. There is another habit that needs to be corrected before the 5-day.
Financial windfall will attract itself to you. So if you're ready to move through where you are into where you want to go, in terms of marketing, we're going to focus on marketing for the next, what's this, 24 minutes. We're going to focus on marketing. I am not focusing on a lot of other stuff. I gave you how you make more money.
I gave you the logical formula for that. I gave you the logical formula for that. I told you that money is energy. I told you that if you want more money, you have to speed up the energy. And you have to understand that speeding up the energy is going to require you to make more financial transactions, and you will make more financial transactions, and you can actually solve more problems of people who want and need and can purchase what you have.
You do no good marketing things to people who do not have the energy to do that. So what I want to give you is though you really have to get this in order to make a good decision, the bill is not a financial transaction. It needs to go bang, ka-ching, ka-ching, it needs to do something. I am sorry. At the end of the day, you make money for financial transactions.
That means the card needs to swipe. The cash needs to hit the register. The bill needs to go bing, ka-ching, it needs to do something. The desire for somebody to want to give you the money is not a financial transaction. I'm sorry.
It doesn't matter how much you want the person to want to have it. how much the person wants to have it, until the financial transaction is completed, you, my friend, have not made a sale. And in this business, in this industry, you are paid for sales. You are not paid for how you look. You are not paid for how your website looks.
You are not paid for who your sponsor is. You are not paid for who your team is. You are not paid for how long your hair is. You are not paid for the kind of house you live in. You are paid to make.
Sales. And if you want to know why you're not making any money, it's because you're not making any sales. It's nothing else. It's not because the blog, it's not because, you know, your sign-up person did this. It's not any of those simpleton excuses you usually make to deflect the truth about you, which is you haven't learned how to make sales.
So if you want to know, I suggest you grab your pen and your paper. That is what I suggest. Horse, whale, drink, that's up to you. The first thing that you need to understand in marketing is that you have got to be speaking to a particular audience. You cannot market to everybody because you are really marketing to nobody.
You need to choose a particular audience. Okay? There isn't one Fortune 500 company that doesn't know its audience. For the sake of what we're talking about, I am going to use a synonymous term, which is called target market. You need to have a specified target market.
Look, stop walking around here in whatever business you are in, selling whatever product you are selling, talking about everybody needs it. No, everybody doesn't. Somebody lied to you, and you're carrying on this lie while you make little to no sales. Clearly, there's an error in that. You are not to market to everybody because marketing to everybody is marketing to nobody.
If you need to write that down, write it down, take a picture, I don't have anything to do with it. But you need to understand that. You are in the business of solving problems. And if you are saying, ultimately, that you are solving everybody's problem, you are misinformed. Because it is impossible for you to solve everybody's problem because you don't even know how many problems each individual person carries around every day.
You have no idea what is a problem for somebody, let alone say you're solving everybody's problem, as if people only have one problem. Okay? You need to figure out what problem. You need to figure out what problem. You need to figure out what problem you're solving.
And B, who has that problem? So if you are selling something that solves the problem of arthritis, you're not solving everybody's problem because I don't even have arthritis. So I don't want what you have. I don't have a desire for what you have. I don't have a need for what you have.
And I don't care how much it costs me to get the solution. I don't have the problem. It's a zero sum for me. It's free. That's not enough you can't understand why even free things people don't want to buy into.
Because you're not solving their problem. You're thinking that because you're excited about it and it's solving your problem that everybody else on the face of the planet gives a darn. And they don't. They don't. Get out of your own way with that thinking.
It's not correct. Get rid of it. You need to choose a particular audience. You need to have a target market. You've got the bull's eye.
A target. A target. When you go to shoot. A bow and arrow. You are looking to hit the target.
You're not looking to just hit anything around out there. You're looking to hit the target. When you play darts. You are looking to take that dart and you want to throw it where? You get more points when it hits that center than you do when it hits on the outer rings.
Now the outer rings are better than missing the target altogether. Clearly. But being as precise as you can by hitting that center. And so, you are throwing your dart all over the target. And that would explain why your money is eluding you.
Decide to throw your dart in the center. And then you have to ask yourself, who is the person in the center? Who is that person? What does this person. Where does this person live?
What does this person do? What? How much money does this person earn generally in a year? Which is this person? What type of career does this person have?
If you don't know the answers to those questions, you don't have any business marketing anything concerning yourself with money right now because you are in the infancy stage of building a marketing plan. How dare you assume somebody is going to give you money for something and you don't even know who the hell you're even talking to. Whose fault is that? Yours. You need to know those things.
Look, when you get serious about your business, people will take you serious about your business. If you're playing around and you're just posting and spamming all over the place, guess what? Anybody taking you seriously? Because you're not taking it seriously. You're not even taking the time to learn how to be professional.
You're marketing as an amateur and you get amateur results. And the last I checked, amateurs in any, in any sport usually don't make anything. It's not until you hit the professional level that you get a contract or you make money or you get some type of, you know, incentive for the value that you bring to the team and all that stuff. So you need to know who your target market is. Don't be in such a rush.
Develop your business just as a baby develops in a womb. Don't be in such a rush to build your business. Don't be in such a rush to build your business just as a baby develops in a womb. Don't be in such a rush to build your business just as a baby develops in a womb. a baby that's undeveloped on the planet.
So it can be in, what, ICU for four or five months. You can worry and stress over the fact that you don't know what's going to happen. Why treat your business like that? Why worry and stress over things like that when you have the ability to control whether you keep the baby nurtured in the womb until it's time to launch your business, i.e., give birth to your baby? Some of you guys are so such a rough to make money, you don't even want to take the time to prepare to launch something successful.
But yet, there are tons of people who start businesses that take the time to a grand opening. People take the time to get their lease space and at least build out the lease space. They take the time to at least go and get balloons and go and get, you know, pictures and make everything look nice on the inside. They take the time to spend money on a banner that's rolled outside of a sidewalk that's a grand opening. They take time.
They don't even have to pay money to put a radio ad on or get a newspaper ad. They spend money to let people know that the grand opening is happening. And then the goal is once you get to the grand opening for them to greet you as a potential customer. Some of you guys are not treating your business that way. You want to sign up into the business and you don't even want to prepare for a grand opening.
You don't want to open the door. Your lease space looks a mess. You haven't even swept up inside of there. You don't have a cash register. You don't have a guest book.
You don't have seating for your customers and clients. You don't have magazines for them to read. You don't have anything. The thing that matters when people either don't come in, don't even know about it, and won't buy. They want you to shut your shell of a business.
And now who are you mad at? Are you mad at the people that sold you the business? Hmm. That doesn't really seem to make any sense. Who doesn't know your target market?
That is number one. Stop trying to build a business and market to everybody. Stop it. Number two is you have to create a message to those people. So now that you know that you're going to be selling your wing ding to whoever, let's just call this person Sasha Fierce.
I like Beyonce, so we're going to call her Sasha Fierce. Okay. Just roll with it. Okay. Well, now that you know you're selling your solution to Sasha Fierce and you know who Sasha Fierce is, you know where she lives, you know how much money she makes, you know where she works, you know overall what her problem is, and you believe that you have the solution to her problem, then now you need to let Sasha know that you are in existence and that you can be her solutions provider.
You need to create a message for her. That's number two. So how do you create a message? And let me just share with you this information I'm giving you. Look, I don't share this with everybody on the planet.
I share this in Jamaica. Some of me and some of my business partners went to Jamaica last week or week before last for seven days. Six of those days we had fun, and one of those days we had a mastermind. And during that mastermind, it took us about eight hours to get it done. Trust me, I won't be doing that for you because I don't have eight hours and neither do you.
But you'll get the gist of it because I just believe as a business owner, you need to understand this structure and model, period. Whether you get all the fine, fine details of it tonight or not is not the issue. A lot of you don't even have the model to begin with. This structure should... Because a lot of your problems.
So the message to Sasha Fierce is, or is created, by you first writing out a list of problems that you believe Sasha is probably facing. Right? So if you sell... Oh, I'm looking at this McDonald's, buy one, get one free bagel or any breakfast salad. So let's just say, because I love sausage biscuits from McDonald's, okay?
So let's say that you sell sausage biscuits and Sasha Fierce could use a sausage biscuit. Then if you are a fast food place, what type of problems are you looking to solve? What might be one of Sasha Fierce's problems? Well, maybe for one, she has to be to work early and she doesn't have time to cook. Maybe that's a problem Sasha Fierce has.
Maybe she has children that she has to get ready and she can get them... Whip them up a few things to eat, but she never really has time to nourish her son. So she has to get them off, but she's got to get something for herself. So she's got kids that play a role in the mornings. Maybe Sasha Fierce works at a place where she absolutely cannot be late and she has to be there at 6.15 in the morning.
And you know that your fast food restaurant opens up at 5.30. Right? You know that. So she has a time constraint that maybe your competitor can't provide that solution, but you can. So she doesn't have a lot of time in the morning.
She's fumbling and fumbling with the kids to get them together. She has to be to work super, super early. Okay? And let's just pick another. Let's just say that she doesn't want to spend...
She doesn't want to have to drive far. She doesn't want to have to drive far. She doesn't want to have to drive in order to get something to eat, because you know that she needs to eat, but she doesn't really have the ability to drive all around town and be in traffic to go and get the nourishment. And you know that you are within one mile of Sasha Fierce's house. But the only reason why you know you're in one mile of Sasha Fierce's house is because you already did step one, which is determine who your target market was in the first place, which was who is it?
Where does she live? How much money does she make? Where does she work? We already did that part. So now that you're creating a message, you have to figure out what problems does Sasha Fierce have?
Not everybody, not the whole world, not the whole state and the whole, you know, church. It's her. What problem does she have and others who are just like her have? And then once you get down your list, let's say you get 10 of those, of the problems that they have, then what you need to do is really itemize how what you have is the solution to that particular situation. I said that Sasha Fierce doesn't have time in the morning to fix her own meal.
So what does your business provide if you're the fast food place? Well, it's done for her. She doesn't have to fix it because you already fixed it. The second problem I said that she could have. The second problem I said was that she's fumbling and fumbling with the kids and she doesn't really have anything that she can use to nourish herself.
So she can come to you where you can give her a healthy breakfast without her having to cook it. The third thing I said was that she wanted to, she had to be at work super early. So the solution that you have is that you open at 5 o'clock and the doors are open at 530 for customers. And you have a drive-thru. Where now she doesn't even have to get out of her car.
She can just zip, zip, zip and get what she needs to get. The fourth thing I said was that she doesn't want to drive all around town because it's traffic and she can't be late to work. So you let Sasha Fierce know. And guess what? We are located on the corner of such and such, which is just minutes from X place of business, Y place of business, A subdivision, this and that daycare.
And you continue on with the problems with their corresponding solutions. Now you have a real message to a real problem where you actually have a person who fits the bill of what you have. Now that you know who you're talking to, Sasha Fierce, and now that you know her problems, what I just told you, and now that you have the solutions, the specific solutions, which I just told you, now we can move to step three, which is the final step. And that is your medium, M-E-D-I-U-M. It is your medium.
That is, in simplest terms, your advertising location. Where now are you going to put this message, solving these problems with your solutions for Sasha Fierce to see it? Where are you going to advertise? Where are you going to position yourself so that she sees it? See, some of you are so busy building your business backwards that you're always asking questions like, where is the best place to market?
That is not a question that you should be asking if you do not have who your target market is and what your message is. It is a fundamental mistake of an amateur. But we're trying to circumvent that tonight. Because the truth is, we're not going to do that. It doesn't matter where you advertise if you're not marketing to nobody, in particular.
And you can market on a hot air balloon if you wanted to. You can market on the top of the Sears Tower with a banner that says, 99-cent sausage biscuits if you wanted to. And unless your target market person is up at the Sears Tower, standing up there, or standing down on the ground looking up at that particular person. And if you're not marketing at that particular time that you do that, because you've done the research and know that's who it is, then it doesn't even matter whether you're marketing there, whether you're marketing on the radio, whether you're marketing on Facebook, whether you're marketing with a solo ad, whether you're marketing with a radio ad, whether you're marketing with a banner, whether you're marketing with word of mouth, whether you're marketing with a flyer, a postcard, a business card, a necklace, a bracelet, a hat, a pin. It doesn't matter what you do, doggone it, if you have not identified who you're talking to.
Stop asking everybody around the world what's the best place to market. Stop that. What you should be asking yourself is who am I marketing to and what problems do I solve with my product or service? That's what you should be asking first and foremost. Because then the medium part doesn't even, it's not even difficult because now you can ask yourself, well, where does Sasha Fierce read?
Where does Sasha Fierce pick up information? What grocery store does she go to? Does she get mail? What type of hobbies does Sasha Fierce have? What things does she like to do?
What things does Sasha Fierce, what does she spend her money on currently? Where is she already making financial transactions? And how can I insert myself into that? How can I go to that arena where she will see me as a result of going to where Sasha Fierce already is? That is not a question for your sponsor.
That is a question for you and your target market. How does your sponsor know where Sasha Fierce is buying her groceries? That's your research you should be doing. How does your sponsor know exactly what the best marketing method is when you're marketing to men over 55? And your sponsor is marketing to women between 18 and 25.
How is it the same? It's not the same. Your sponsor could be marketing on Facebook and that might not be the best medium for you based on your target market. That's why some of you are failing just purely because you're not doing the research. You're just listening and running around doing what everybody else is doing because you're not clear and solid on what you should be doing.
You're going to be clear tonight. And if you're not clear tonight, it's not because I didn't deliver it to you. It's because you're multitasking. You're being a busybody and you're not paying attention to someone who has results enough to be on a call to give you information for free where generally I don't do things for free and neither should you. Why?
Because we are in the business of financial transactions. And if I'm not in the business of financial transactions, it is because I'm choosing to give from my heart. I'm choosing to give from my heart via charity or friends or family or whatever method of giving I choose to give. But when I'm in a business environment, it is financial transactions. I'm sorry.
I have to put food on my table just like you do. And if it's not about money in that sense, about you earning it, about you making transactions, then why do you go to work every day? If you have a problem with that, why are you going to work every day? You're only going because there's a financial transaction. There's a financial transaction that takes place at the end of your two weeks, and it's that you have given 80 hours of your God-given time, and they're going to give you what you've agreed to be the financial equivalent of such.
It's still a financial transaction. So you're going to work every day, not for free. I'm not going to work for free either. Being an entrepreneur has zero to do with people giving and giving and giving. Being an entrepreneur is about making sales.
It's about having a business. It's about giving to the marketplace. It's about giving to the marketplace. There is a need and a demand, and you offering a valuable supply. That's what this is about.
Get out of your head all this other mumbo-jumbo that's stopping you from being successful where you're just generating a bunch of excuses that aren't even doing you any good to begin with. It's just a waste of your time even. Stop. Enough. The medium is determined based on who your target market is, the message that you have for them, and the places that you're going to be able to get them.
The places that your target market hangs out, that's the medium. I'm not here to tell you it's specifically YouTube, or it's specifically running a banner ad, or it's specifically going to an exposition, maybe specifically getting a booth as an exhibit booth. I can't tell you specifically it's running a television commercial. I can't tell you it's specifically any one thing or another, because all of them, all of them work. Hear what I'm saying to you.
All of them work. If they all didn't work, people wouldn't be doing them. What makes them work better for others, for some and not for others, is that some people honestly realize that their target market loves that medium, and others are just following to be following because they don't know any better. Either you are going to play with the big girls and boys in this game, or you are going to be down. You are going to be at an amateur level longer than you can even take it.
Entrepreneurship is a real thing. It's not a side thing that you think you kind of want to do. If you want to be a world-class athlete, you don't just have to ask it. Either you're up in the morning, practicing, eating right, doing your drills every single day because your goal is to win the gold medal or the championship or whatever it is. Either that's what you're doing, or you're BSing, and you're off the team because you're a teammate, you're a coach, don't have time for your playing around.
Either you're in this because you want to win the championship, or you're playing. That's it. That's it. You only have two choices. There is no lukewarm here.
It's either you're hot or you are cold. Either you are in the game as a player, or you are in the stand as a spectator. Those are the only two places you can be. So you must choose. You must choose between the two.
And once you choose, let's say you choose to be a player, then now you must decide now that being a spectator is not even an option any longer. It's not even an option to be a spectator because you've decided to be a player. Why? Because that's what decision means. I shared this, too, in Jamaica.
Incision is when you cut into, right, like a surgeon. A surgeon will make an incision to do a surgery on you, to internally into your physical body, make an incision. They cut into you. Well, then, naturally, decision would be similar, would be the opposite almost, right? Decision to cut away from, to cut off.
Not cut into, but cut away from. Cut off. So if you decide to be a player. If you decide to be a player, then you are cutting off all other options than that. It means it's not even possible to be a spectator because you've cut it off.
You've made a decision. Come on, guys. This is really not rocket science. It's so not that hard. Decide to do something and stick to it for a change in your life.
Stop going back and forth. Stop letting challenges get in your way. Stop blaming people for your mistakes. Stop blaming others for things that you've done wrong in your life. It's okay.
Nobody gave us a rule book here and said this is exactly how you live and this is the only way ever you could possibly walk this planet in dignity. You know, you weren't blessed with that. I wasn't. Our parents weren't. Our grandparents weren't.
And as far as I know, neither were people 5,000, 6,000 years ago. People created things for us along the way based on their knowledge level and their enlightenment. They created things. And either you're looking or listening to or finding out. You're listening to or following something that somebody else created.
Or you're creating it yourself. I'm not here to say either is right or wrong. I'm just saying that this isn't that hard because at least in this environment you already have people that are telling you jump over that pond. That pond has a compass in it. And if you step in it, you're going to cut your foot.
But some of y'all are so hard headed and you're so egotistical and you're so, you know, whatever. You don't want to listen to nobody that a pure spite, you will step your foot in that pond, hurt yourself, and then blame somebody else for it. Imagine that. When all the signs say jump over the pond, but you didn't see it. So now somebody ought to put it where you can see it, right?
There's always a reason why you didn't do what you were supposed to do. Look, target market, message, media. That's the plan. It can be as robust. It can be as robust as you want it to be.
And it can be as slim as you want it to be. I don't know whoever told you a marketing plan needed to be 1,000 pages long anyway. See, some of you are avoiding doing the necessary work because you have a preconceived notion in your mind about what it is. And because you don't know how to do it, you're not even seeking how to do it, but you skip doing it, you encounter trouble, and then you realize that you have to go back. By this time, you've wasted time and money.
Frustrated as you've wasted time and money. And then you quit and or blame somebody else for you not succeeding. It's a vicious cycle that you have all the control over. Tonight, there is no more excuses. Tonight, either you're going to put a marketing plan together or you're not.
Tonight, you're going to decide to know who you're targeting. You're going to decide to know exactly what your message is to them. And you're going to decide who you're targeting. And you're going to decide to put your advertisement in the place that best suits that target market. Either you're going to decide that or you're not.
And I will tell you that those of you who decide and cut off other possibilities, you decide to do what I am instructing you to do. Once you get it going, you are going to be so far along, and all you're going to do is look back and say, oh, my God, why didn't I do that before? Partly because maybe you didn't know. But that doesn't even exist anymore. Because now you do.
And once you know better, you know how the saying goes, you do better. And if you choose not to do better, well, you know, hey, I'm about to tell you about the horse and the whale. So, friends, tonight I leave you with hopefully the empowered spirit to whatever business you are doing. Thank you. Bye-bye.
All right. Thank you. So, I would love to hear from you. I would love you to share with us your experience building for you to put together your marketing plan because every business, successful business, super, super successful business, the marketing department, in my opinion, is the most important department. Because without the marketing, there are no customers.
because they don't even know who they're selling to. The marketing department is the most important department, and for some reason the home business, it is the most neglected department I've ever seen in my life, combined with a bunch of people where the majority of the people want all the money. It's a disproportionate situation where it doesn't even make any sense. You want the money, but you don't even know who you're asking to share a financial transaction with you. You don't even know.
You're just out harassing everybody about what you have. No wonder. No wonder you keep jumping from business to business. And when I say, I'm not talking about because you're successful in one business and you're adding to another business, and you're successful in two businesses and you're adding a third, I'm talking about you are not successful in one business. You made 50 cents.
Then you go and spend $500. You join something else. Then you take that $200 and go start something else. And every business you join, you lose money in. Now, you can sugarcoat it and pretend it's the greatest thing on the planet if you want to, but you know the truth about what's going on.
And it may be great. This is not about the company. This is about you as the marketer and what you are doing to create financial transactions for your business. The business needs you as a rep. To do what?
Make sales. The business needs you as an affiliate. To do what? Make sales. So if you are a rep or an affiliate of a company and you are making any sales, then if that were a job, you would have been fired.
Do you understand how simple this is? If you were working for AT&T and they hired you on commission, to make sales, and after 6, 8, 12 months, you haven't made any sales, you have to have a talk with your supervisor. And it might not be one of the happiest days of your life. And for some reason in that environment, you understand that you deserve to be fired or that, you know, you just take your unemployment and keep it moving or whatever it is. But over here, over here, you don't make any sales.
For some reason, that's somebody else's fault. Over here, when you don't make any sales of your product or service, it's because it's a scam. Over here, when you don't make any sales of your product or service it's because your sponsor didn't call you back. Over here, when you don't make any sales, it's because you didn't have access to the Facebook group. Over here, when you don't make any sales, it's because you don't live in the United States.
Over here, you don't make any sales. It's a zillion and one reasons why you are not doing what you are paid to do, are paid to make sales. And if you are not making sales, you are not getting paid. It's as simple as that. My goal here tonight was to give you a plan to help you put in place a formula where you can almost write your check for sales.
You choose a target market, the ideal person who can use what you have, who also has the means to buy it. If you are marketing your product or service to a person who does not have any money to buy it, you are wasting your advertising dollars. Stop marketing to people who cannot or do not have the means to buy what you have. This is business. This is not about who you like and who you love and all of that.
It's business. Business has no emotion from that perspective. It doesn't mean that you can't love what you do and that you can't deliver customer service with your highest quality of being and with nothing but love in your heart. It doesn't mean that you can't exude that. What I am saying to you is that in the purest sense of business, business is not a person.
Business is just a function of making. It's a transaction. It has no emotion tied to it. It has no gender tied to it. It has no age.
It has no faith. It has no nothing. What it has is you. And if you are not conducting it, you don't have one. I don't care what you pay for it.
I don't care if you got it for free. If you are not conducting business properly, you do not have a business. What you have is an entity that you are hoping to create profit out of. And until you start doing that legitimately like an entrepreneur and a businessman or woman should, then you will continue to fight and fuss with yourself as to why this business doesn't work and that business doesn't work and this business doesn't work. Oh, and that business costs too much.
Oh, this business is free. Oh, and this business, well, this one helps people to do this. Oh, but then I have to have multiple streams of no income because you haven't figured out how to get a stream of income from any one of them consistently. Over time, possibly, to get you out of the rat race. If you cannot pay your bills from the passive income that are coming in from your income stream, then it's not enough of an income stream.
I hope that you take this lesson tonight on business. I really wasn't trying to come to you guys tonight with a bunch of spiritual and emotional things, although I love to deliver on that. I love to. For some reason tonight, I said, you know what? I'm going to give the business session.
I'm going to give a discussion from a CEO to a CEO. The way I would do... Any CEO. If I were to be hired, go into a corporation and figure out why they aren't making enough sales, I am telling you the first thing I would do is discover what their marketing plan is, who they're targeting, what their message is, and where they advertise those to. There may be other issues going on, but that is the first and foremost thing I would personally do.
Remember, I want to be a chief marketing officer, and I understand that if you don't have a viable solution to a viable group of people, then you don't get jacked for sales. That's the first thing. That's the second thing. That's the third thing. That's the fourth thing.
That's the fifth thing. That's the sixth thing. Stop delivering solutions and stop just peddling. Stop being a peddler. You know what?
When I was growing up, one of my homeboys we grew up with, we used to call him the peddler. He sold a lot of stuff, right? A lot of it I won't name on this call. I'm talking just from inner city Chicago and some of you guys from inner cities all over this country, and you understand what I'm saying. But we called him the peddler, and we called him that for a reason, because he peddled.
But he had a target market at the end of the day. At the end of the day, he knew exactly who his problem was. He knew exactly what his product was for, and he knew exactly how much it was going to cost. He knew exactly where he needed to be at the time in order to meet his customer. He knew exactly all those things.
If the kids on the street can sell illegal drugs and all this stuff and make more money than you, I want you to ask yourself, what is it that they know that you don't know? Well, A, they don't make excuses. B, they get their butt up in the morning and get to the spot. C, they actually have products on hand. They're not complaining.
They're complaining about why they got to buy the product first and why they got to have it over here, and it's haggling over the price. Look, it costs this much. Then they add their surplus on top of it, and they go out and they sell it, market price, whatever it is. They go and they meet their customer in the neighborhood that their customer is in. That's what they do.
And not every product is in every hood of this country. Some products are in certain hoods, and other products are in other hoods. And if you don't know what you're doing, you're not going to be able to make a difference. And if you don't know what you're doing, you're not going to make a difference. If you have a product that doesn't belong in a certain hood, you ain't making no sales.
I don't care how good it is. It's not going to make you a financial transaction until you get to the hood that actually has a demand for the product you got. Come on now. Look, it's not that hard. It's business.
Supply and demand. Sell stuff to people who want it and demand it at a price they're willing to pay for. That's what you do. And if you don't know who to sell it to, then you got to go back to the model, which is 300. Take your target market.
So family, I'm going to leave you tonight with that bit of information. I can only hope and pray that you will take it, that you will use it, that it will be like gold to you, that you would protect this information, that you would treat it as if you would treat the finest piece, the finest diamond you ever owned, or the finest car you ever drove. Or the most beautiful house you could ever live in. I would want you to treat this information as such, because the truth is, it's more valuable than all of those things. Because as long as this, you could sell water to a well.
As long as you know this, you could sell ice water to an Eskimo. It doesn't matter. It's this information that can set you free. And let you be successful in any business you choose. That's why some people do well wherever they go, and others fail just the same wherever they go.
It's not the knowledge that's power. It's the applied knowledge. So take it, apply it, and have great success in your business. I love you guys, and I'll see you at the next event. Have a good night.
