Hi, this is Kevin Sousa. Today, I'm going to talk about 17 dumb reasons people reject opportunity. I want you to bear in mind something. I truly care and my wife truly cares about helping other people. It became our driving force starting with our daughter Ashley who is almost 18 years old and she has severe autism.
And our reasons for building our opportunity is driven by Ashley and other people. There are lots of people in our team that want help to help achieve their dreams and their goals in life. And so as I go through these dumb reasons people reject opportunity, don't take them lightly and think about your own personal situation because we can help you. The first dumb reason people reject opportunity is that they have no goals or dreams. They have no compelling reason to take action.
You want to take action right away when you have a dream or a goal. When you don't take action, it's because that dream is not important enough to you or you don't believe it. And other people have dreams and goals. I would really love to see so many more people in this world encouraging others to go after their goals and dreams and to achieve them in life and not just settle for a job or day-to-day living so that they can help their families and their own selves to accomplish things and help others do the same. So number one again is people have no goals or dreams and so they have no compelling reason to take action.
Number two dumb reason people reject opportunity is they claim not to have time. I laugh at that because we all have 24 hours a day and we all make time for things that mean something to us, that have value to us. You know we all had or have jobs that take up a lot of our time. Mothers take up a lot of time taking care of their children and the household and they even have jobs themselves. And then when you come home from work I know that you're exhausted.
You want to relax and spend some time with your family. However if there are things in life that you want to have, be or do, that's going to require additional time more than what your job can provide you with respect to income. But there are other benefits and serendipities of being able to provide an additional source of income for your family which will leverage your time and give you more time to be with them. So time is not a reason. It's a dumb reason because you can leverage what time you have and develop freedom.
And that's what I did in my job way back in 2008 when I was able to leave it forever, save more time in my life. So that's number two. The third dumb reason that people reject opportunity is they simply don't believe that they can do it or that it's even possible to succeed. I cannot help anybody with their beliefs because a person convinced against their will is of the same opinion still. However you can change your own beliefs.
If you find that your belief is holding you back from something, then it's time to take a look at what you believe, isn't it? Don't you agree? Not believing that you can do something that thousands of others are doing or that it's even possible for you to succeed is a dumb reason to reject the opportunity because guess what? If you're willing to learn, you can do it. And you obviously want to have a reason to learn, don't you?
And that's where goals and dreams come in. The fourth dumb reason that people reject opportunity is they don't have the startup money readily available. Hey, I understand life. For decades I was B-R-O-K-E. At least I perceived myself to be.
I had a job but most of my income, if not all of it, went toward paying bills that I myself racked up. Nobody else did that but me. And a lot of people, well, I don't even have a job, Kevin. Well, get one. Oh, it's easier said than done.
And if you keep believing that, you're right. But if you believe it's easy, you're right. Either way, you're right. All my life when I had issues with jobs and had to switch jobs, I found one. Why?
Because I believed I could. The startup money for any business, whether it's online or offline, can be found, created, and done if you have a strong enough desire for your goal. The world is full of countless stories of people who had no money at all. Who convinced themselves that, nope, I don't have any money. I am not interested at all.
I have no money. Who found the money because their dream or their reason was big enough? And so anybody that says to me, nope, I don't have the money to get started, number one is lying to me because you can find it or create it. And if you don't believe that, I've said this in other videos, if you have a family member close to you who's dying and you needed to raise some capital to keep them alive for years to come, you would do whatever it took to make that happen. Keep your dream alive the same way.
And if you don't have a dream or goal, get one because you could help others with your opportunity once you find or create the startup money. That's number four. Number five, dumb reason that people reject opportunity is in spite of irrefutable testimonial proof that the opportunity is not only real, but it's possible for them to succeed with it too, they still don't want to do it. They use that excuse until we show them irrefutable testimonial proof that the opportunity is real and that other people are doing it as well. But then they go looking for other excuses until they give you the real reason that's holding them back.
People are amazing, including myself. Years ago, when I rejected an opportunity, I would lie about the real reason why I didn't want to join. I did not want to have to raise money to start a business. That was my real reason. But instead I would say, nope, that's a scam.
Oh, that doesn't work. Oh, I know Charlie Jones tried something like that now or I tried something like that before and I didn't make it. So I'm not interested. All of those are lies because the real reason was I didn't have the money to get started and wasn't willing to raise it. When you're willing to raise it, you'll find it.
But that was the other point. In other words, there's proof, folks, that what my opportunity provides works for people, works for me, works for my wife, works for people that we've helped become happily involved and we have the proof. That's a dumb reason that people reject opportunity. Number six, they actually listen to and heed the so-called advice of naysayers and dream stealers. They look at an opportunity and then they go talk to their Uncle Joe or their friend Mary or their friend John or their cousin Sue and tell them about the opportunity and Sue and John and Mary, they all go, you fell for that?
Come on. That doesn't work. Those things don't work. Oh, how do you know that? Because I know people have done it.
I've even tried it myself. That stuff doesn't work. And they steal your dream in an instant. Why? Well, because you respect their opinion and you want to get the opinion of others and frankly, none of them have ever done what my wife and I are providing.
And if they haven't succeeded, it's because they weren't willing to learn or willing to work. Let's be honest here. Let's bring the truth out. So, if I want to be a doctor, do I go talk to somebody who digs ditches for a living to ask them advice on how to become a doctor? Or do I go talk to a successful doctor?
Or do I talk to universities that teach medicine and help physicians get their degrees? Be smart. When you counsel with someone, counsel with someone who has succeeded. Number seven, dumb reason that people reject opportunity. They know someone who failed at it, so they assume they will too.
How dumb is that? I know lots of people who failed at what my wife and I provide people with. Lots of them. Does that make me assume that I will too? No.
Why? Because my dream is big enough. And when the dream is big enough, the facts don't count. It's irrelevant if other people have failed at our opportunity. Completely.
Why? Because we not only have succeeded ourselves in spite of the ones who failed, people assume that because somebody failed, it's not possible for them. That's dumb. Your dream is worth a lot more than that, I'll tell you. Number eight, dumb reason that people reject opportunity.
They allow their own fears to stop them from taking action. Oh, I don't know. I might lose the money that I put in when I start up if I fail. And they're assuming they're going to fail already, which is why they won't come up with the start-up money, which they know they can do, but they won't. So they say they can't.
They lie about it. They allow their fear to stop them from taking action. Fear, F-E-A-R, false evidence appearing real. There's a book written by David Schwartz called The Magic of Thinking Big, and he said that the only thing that cures fear is action. Taking action and doing what you're afraid of doing will cure the fear.
We all know lots of situations like that in life, don't we? Where someone was afraid to do something, but they went and did it, and they lost their fear. It's a dumb reason that people reject opportunity. Number nine reason, dumb reason that people reject opportunity. They tried it themselves once or more and failed.
Kind of talked about this already. But when you try something and you fail, do you quit and believe that it's impossible for you to make it with it? Then you're not like Thomas Edison. He failed 10,000 times before he invented the light bulb. If he quit trying after he failed, that would have been dumb, wouldn't it?
Well, it's also a dumb reason to not become happily involved in an opportunity that you've already failed at. Think about it. My organization and my team is full of people who have come back after trying once and failed, but they decided that they would like to try again. And they learned what persistence means and determination, and their dream was worthy of that. And they saw themselves helping other people with the opportunity.
That's a compelling reason to try something you failed once already at, right? Number 10, dumb reason that people reject opportunity is they prejudge it even before evaluating it. Hey, I have a business opportunity I'm expanding. I'm looking for a couple of key people. Would you be open to taking a look at it?
Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. Oh, it's one of those things, huh? They prejudge it, which of course is sheer stupidity and dumb. You don't prejudge something before you evaluate it. If you have a dream, you're going to look at it.
If you believe that you're going to achieve some specific goal and you're looking for a vehicle to help you do that, you will take a look at it. You won't prejudge it. That's the reason people prejudge it. They don't have a reason for looking at something. What's your dream?
What's your goal? What's your reason? Everybody has a reason, everybody, to earn additional income or to help others do the same. Here's another dumb reason, number 11, that people reject opportunity. They readily believe anyone opposed to it.
They look at the opportunity and they, wow, this looks really good. I think I'll talk to Mary about this. And Mary goes, nope, nope, nope. And we've already discussed this, haven't we? Well, you're ready to believe Mary.
Oh, okay. Why? Oh, okay. All right. I guess I won't join it then.
That's dumb to believe someone opposed to it who probably has never even tried it themselves, let alone even know anyone who has. But the world is full of negativity. The news, your parents in an effort sometimes to protect us, people we love, classmates, teachers, business associates, coworkers, coworkers, they all have been programmed with negativity in life. Not many people believe in their dreams. Very few.
It's sad, but it's true. But the good news of that is that all you need to do is choose to believe in your dream. It's a choice. And then take action on that. Don't readily believe anyone opposed to this, especially the opportunity that my wife and I provide others.
Number 12 dumb reason that people reject opportunity. They are obsessed with their problems in life and they have no hope. They're so obsessed and engrossed in their problems that when an opportunity comes their way, they're like, yeah, whatever. I got problems. And so that kills hope that's inside of people.
There's only one cure of that. Put a fire under your dream. Put a fire under why you would even remotely be interested in looking at creating additional ways to earn income. My wife and I have the vehicle. And number 13 dumb reason that people reject opportunity.
It's easier to say no and remain in their comfort zone than to say yes to their dreams. Because yes will to their dreams will take them out of their comfort zone, won't it? And so people will do anything, including lie to you and themselves as to why they can't do something. You know, I come home from work. I'm exhausted.
I want to spend time with my family. I'm going to talk about that in a minute. I really just don't have the time and they start giving you all the dumb reasons that I've talked about in this blog post. Comfort zones are amazing. You see, when you do something you're not comfortable with, you've just expanded your comfort zone and all of a sudden now you're comfortable with it.
Rather than expand their comfort zones, many people like to just stay within their comfort zone and say no to their dreams. It's a lot easier and more comfortable to do that. Number 14 dumb reason that people reject opportunity is they are lazy and they don't want to work more than their job to get ahead in life. They think that their job is the end all be all for their income in life and their lot in life and therefore they'll just go to work, come home, get paid, go to work, come home, get paid, work all of their lives, retire at the age of 65 and get a nice little turkey dinner for retiring and live on half or less of what they were making when they had a job. They are too lazy to do more than that.
When they come home from work they think, hey, I've done my work for the day. Well, fine. What about your family's dreams? What about your dreams? What about other people's dreams that you could become genuinely interested in and literally spark your life into something that you could never have imagined was as exciting as it can be?
And so I'm not faulting people that just want to go to work for a living, come home, do that for 40 years, retire, wait till they get old and die. If that's how they want to live, that's fine. But you know what? Something tells me that you don't want to settle for that. The 15th dumb reason that people reject opportunity is they're afraid of what other people will say or think.
Isn't that amazing? I don't want to let people know what I'm doing because a lot of people are private and they don't want others to know what they're doing in life. That's okay. That's your right. But when you're stopping yourself from going after a dream or goal because you're afraid of what your mother or sister or uncle or cousin or best friend will think about it, what are you afraid?
Are you afraid you're going to lose your friends? You know, there's a fear. We talked about fear. It does not matter what other people say or think about what I do in life. It used to matter when I was the victim of news and other people's negative opinions, then I was afraid of what other people thought.
I can't remember which author said this, but they call them SNIOPS, subject to the negative influences of other people. When your dream is big enough, the facts don't count. That doesn't matter. Number 16, dumb reason that people reject opportunity. They use their family as a reason not to rather than a reason to do it.
Oh, I come home from work. I got to spend time with my family. You know, that's more important to me. If spending time with your family is important to you, then why don't you take three weeks out of your life today, book a flight and go to Hawaii with your family and spend three weeks with your family right now. Why won't you do that?
Why? Well, here's why. You haven't raised the money to do it. Don't say I don't have the money because you can raise any money you want if your goal is big enough. Okay?
You haven't raised the money to do that. You haven't even thought about that. You don't even think that's possible. Right? Talk about quality time with your family.
Can you imagine that spending three weeks with your family anywhere in the world with your choice? Money is no object. Use your family as a reason to build an opportunity, not as a reason not to. Okay? In fact, that's selfish of you.
It is selfish for you to say, hey, I come home from work. I want to spend time with my family. That's the most selfish statement you could ever make. Why? Well, because you can do a lot more for your family than just come home from work and be with them.
A lot more. Again, you say, yeah, but Kevin, that's your opinion. That's right. And I'm right. Number 17, dumb reason that people reject opportunity.
They actually believe that they will be doing something to others instead of something for others. With the opportunity that my wife and I provide, we don't make a dime in this business until we help somebody make a dollar. That's the way the principle is. You will be doing something for people by providing them with an opportunity to create additional income, to have a blog in their life, to learn more about personal development, to grow as people, and to be able to have opportunities to help them and teach them how to help others to achieve their dreams. Think about others.
You can have everything in life you want if you help enough other people get what they want. And that's exactly what the opportunity that my wife and I provide gives you, a way to do that. Rather than concentrating and focusing on all the dumb reasons not to take action on an opportunity, we will help you and you can do it. That's the bottom line. Even though we hardly know you, we believe in you.
This is Kevin Sousa. Make it a wonderful day.
