Why Your Online Business Isn’t Working (And the Sales Funnel Fix)

David Wood opens by telling viewers he personally created more than 200,164 paying customers and did $63,317,821.93 in sales in 2013 alone, all using what he calls a three-step simple system, and he promises to show how anyone watching can earn $25, $100, $500, $1,000 and even $3,000 commissions by the end of the video.
He built the pitch around one student’s numbers
Rather than lead with his own hard-luck story, though he does tell it later, Wood spends the early part of the talk on Justin Varengia, a man he describes as a five-year failing ex-internet marketer who was almost homeless in a 300-square-foot condo in Costa Rica, unable to cover $450 monthly rent, with a marriage under strain. Wood says Varengia saw this same presentation, made a decision on November 8, 2011, and generated $1,114,120 in commissions by February 7, 2014, without a phone, a nice computer, cold calls, prospecting or home meetings. Varengia appears on camera to confirm it, describing a $26,000 month after five years of struggle, then a $50,000 month, then a best month of $127,000, and crediting Wood directly: “Dave believed in me before I truly believed in myself.”
The system rests on five pieces and one blog
Wood lays out what he says are the only five things needed to make money online: a high-commission, low-ticket front-end product in an expanding market, higher-ticket products for bigger commissions, a sales process with capture pages and follow-up, an automated high-ticket commission system, and a blog, which he calls the most important piece. He illustrates the math with a $5,000-a-month goal: get 200 customers to buy the front-end product at a $25 monthly commission, or get one customer to buy everything for $4,625 and add one more $500 sale to land at $5,125. He then runs through a long list of named results: Greg Vegas earning $185,050 in his first year part-time, Samuel Levitz making $10,000 in his first 30 days, Marisol Dennis earning $24,674.45 in 2013 while living with an inoperable tumor, Jordan Schultz earning $139,574.24 and taking 22 vacations, Mike Hobbs earning $363,525 while deployed in Iraq, Lawrence Tam earning $1,278,194 in a little over two years starting as a full-time engineer, and Alex Zubarev earning over $630,000 and retiring with his wife from a corporate job despite English not being his first language. He also reads a written account from a customer named Tessa, who says a $64,000 month saved her family’s home from foreclosure ahead of an April 10, 2013 deadline, and who reports $249,487 earned in fourteen months.
His own story explains why the product is a blog
Wood traces the idea back to 2009, when he says he was 27, homeless, and living in his parents’ house after they gave him money to get out of the van he’d been living in on the North Shore of Oahu. He describes crying in bed in a fetal position, then getting angry, making coffee, and logging in to click through a capture page, a sales video, a buy button and an order form, which he says taught him all he needed to sell things online. Without money for paid advertising, he found a blog post by, in his words, “an ex homeless guy” that explained free lead generation through blogging, and he built his own blog around content his target market wanted, such as an article titled “The Art of High Ticket Selling and Three Reasons for Tripling Your Prices.” He says the trouble was that his customers could make money through him but could not replicate a blog and sales funnel themselves, which led him to ask what became the pivot point of the business: “What if I can replicate my success for you and all you have to do is get started?”
The price came down from $10,000 to $25 over a bottle of wine
Wood describes a conversation with his business partner, Dave Sharpe, in which they first considered charging $10,000, then $4,625, then $997, before Wood says he thought of his years of failure, his van, and his parents’ house, and told Sharpe, “Let’s create more millionaires than anyone in the history of the internet… let’s give it to them for only $25.” He frames the resulting offer, the Viral Blogging System, as risk-free for 14 days, with instant setup, an optional affiliate program paying $25 up to $3,000 per sale, an eight-step blogging formula he values at $495, access to a community of over 200,164 members, a mobile app, and bonus trainings valued at $1,997 and $997. He backs the blog focus with a set of statistics he attributes to sources including eMarketer, Marketing Sherpa and HubSpot, among them that 150.4 million people in the US read a blog at least once a month in 2014 and that businesses with blogs see a median 77 percent increase in lead flow after 51 articles. He closes by repeating the offer of $25 and the line he says he told Sharpe that night, that it is time to create a “commission revolution,” adding his own rule for anyone who joins: “No wussies allowed.”

My name is David Wood and I want you to pay attention as you watch this because as you pay attention to this video I'm going to show you a three-step simple system that allowed me to personally create more than 200,164 paying customers and do more than $63,317,821.93 in sales in 2013 alone. By the end of this video you're going to understand my simple system, see proof that it works for everyday average people and how you can apply it today to earn more money in your business. Who am I and why should you pay attention to my formula? Let me show you some of the things I've accomplished using this simple system just in the last two years. I've built sites that have risen to the top 200 sites online, generated 1,687,725 leads just on one of my email lists, over 200,164 customers just on one of my products.
In 2013 alone I did approximately $63,317,821.93 in sales using this simple system. I've packed rooms of 100 people, 1,350 people, 2,700 people, 3,500 people, 4,300 people and even over 5,200 people. In fact, not only have I earned over $4,833,394 selling my own stuff, I've also packed stages of people who've earned $50,000, $100,000, even a half million dollars. Even creating eight million dollar earners in just over two years, of course, that's including myself. All by following my simple three-step simple system that you're about to learn and by teaching people like you how you can earn $25, $100, $500, $1,000 and even $3,000 commissions. To get started, let me show you the only five things you really need to make money online. First, you need a high commission quality low ticket front end product that you can start marketing right now and get paid quickly when you make a sale. Second, you need higher ticket quality products that enable you to earn higher level commissions per customer.
Third, a sales process with high converting capture pages, a follow-up system that sells your front end for you. And fourth, a high ticket commission system that helps you sell products that can earn commissions for $100, $500, $1,000, and even $3,000 a sale. Fifth, a blog. This is actually the most important piece, but I'll get to why in a minute. So again, these are the only five things you need to make a lot of money online. One, a high commission front end product in a wide expanding marketplace.
Two, high ticket, higher price products you can sell to your customers and also earn more money. Three, an automated sales process that sells your front end for you. Four, an automated system that works for you to help you sell your high ticket offers earning up to $3,000 a sale. Fifth, a blog, specifically engineered to help you make more money, build a relationship with your list, and make more sales. Let me show you how it works and how you can use my simple three-step system to make more money in any online business. And then let me explain how these five things can work together to create what I call a perpetual income funnel.
And then we'll come back. I'll show you my three-step simple system, show you proof that it works, and exactly what you need to get started making more money from your online business today. The five things work together from a concept I call a simple income system. To explain how a simple income system works, I'm going to use examples from our own products and assume you can earn $25, $100, $500, $1,000, and $3,000 a sale. First, your simple income system is going to start by converting traffic into leads through a capture page like the one you put your email into before you saw this video. Second, when your leads see this video and decide to buy, you'll earn an ongoing commission of $25 a month.
Third, your simple income system is going to work together with you to present more valuable higher cost products and services to your customers. And when they decide to buy, you can earn commissions of $25, $100, $500, $1,000, and even $3,000 a sale. You're then going to follow my viral blogging strategy and utilize your blog to create more credibility, sales, and commissions. And I'll explain how that works in a minute. Let me show you your simple income system and how it can work to create an income of $3,000, $5,000, or even $10,000 a month. Obviously, these aren't guarantees of income.
I'm showing you these examples to help you understand how it works. Please refer to our full earnings disclosure below this video. The reason you want your simple income system to also sell higher ticket products is that you'll earn higher commissions when your customers buy them. Let's say you wanted to earn $3,000 a month. Is it simpler to get 120 customers this month and earn $25 commission? Or to be able to earn a $3,000 commission from just one customer?
Obviously, the answer is both, right? Think about it like this. If you want to make $5,000 a month, you have a few options. Option one, get 200 customers to buy your front-end product, and when you earn a $25 monthly commission, that would add up to about $5,000 a month. Option two, one customer per month decides to buy all your products, and you earn $4,625 from one customer. One more $500 commission, and you hit a little over your goal, earning $5,125 from just a couple of sales.
You can see how simple it is to hit your goals when you can earn $25, $100, $500, $1,000, and even up to $3,000 a sale. I'm going to come back to the most important piece, the blog, in just a minute. First, let me show you some examples of real people who are getting real results using my simple income system. Greg Vegas, he earned $185,050 his first year part-time. I'd moved there because my parents had given me some money to help me move out of the van that I lived in. I'd been failing miserably making money from home for seven years. In fact, I failed so bad I didn't have a home. I was 27 years old, homeless, and bankrupt. I felt pathetic. All my friends had careers and had graduated college and I was the laughing stock of the family.
I'd been in so many deals I can't count them all and it resulted in broke. But I'd learned a lot. I was laying in bed holding my pillow in a fetal position one night crying hysterically because I felt like I was literally nothing. Instead of quitting, I did something I find a thousand times more powerful. I got mad. I drank a cup of coffee, turned on my broken laptop, and when I flipped it on, I logged into my email and clicked on a link that looked like this.
It put my name into a capture page after that loaded on my internet browser. It looked sort of like this. I landed on a sales page where video started to play and it looked kind of like this. As I was buying after I clicked a button that looked like this and filling out an order form that looked like this, I had a breakthrough because all I needed to sell stuff online and earn all the money I want is leads in an email system, a capture page that got people to put in their email just like you did to see this video, a sales page like this one that got people to make a buying decision, a buy button people will click on, and a safe and secure order form. Again, all I needed to earn all the money I ever want was a way to get an email leads, a capture page like this, a sales page like this, a buy button like this, and an order form like this. That's it.
For a second, I want you to imagine what it would be like if all you did was send an email like this and your lead saw a capture page like this, watched the same video that you're watching right now, they clicked the button below the video and filled in this order form and you got a commission of 25 per month. And not only do you get a commission of $25 a month, you also had a potential of earning $100, $500, $1,000, and even up to $3,000 in additional commissions. That's what I discovered how to do in September of 2009 as I was making a decision to buy. The only two problems were, number one, I didn't have a high commission front end product to sell in a wide expanding marketplace. Number two, since I was broke and homeless, I couldn't do paid marketing. So I did a Google search for free leads and I came across a blog and an ex homeless guy, funny enough, who wrote a blog post about how to generate free leads through blogging.
I read the blog post, I was so impressed I clicked on the banner below the post and it took me to a capture page like this, a sales video that looked like this, and when I clicked the button below the video I went to a safe and secure order form like this, my mind was blown. See, something I had learned from my seven years of failing miserably is that if you want to make money easily, is that it's really painful to try and sell a product to somebody who doesn't want to buy it. And it's really easy to sell a product to somebody who's looking for it, wants to buy it, and has their credit card in hand ready to buy it right now. It's a breakthrough concept called target marketing. If you want to make money easily, the key is to focus your marketing on people who are already ready to buy and have their credit card in hand and are just looking to complete their purchase with the right person. Let me review what happened again.
I wanted a solution to get free leads online. I was ready to buy a solution that moment and I did a Google search. I clicked on a link that looked like this, led me to a blog that looks sort of like this. Then below the article, I clicked a banner like this and I was back to a capture page, back to a sales page, and I knew exactly what I needed to do next. So I set up this blog and I started writing blog posts to people in my target market, the things that they're interested in like this, this article, the art of high ticket selling and three reasons for tripling your prices.
