If you want to see the average earnings, please visit the page at www.empowernetwork.com forward slash income dot php. How did that make you feel? Did that give you goosebumps? Right? I put that together a couple nights ago because my goal here today is to talk to you about influence.
You know, there's been some amazing speakers here today, and I'm so honored to be here because this is a very intimate group. You know, how many of you saw me speak at the last event in Denver? Alright, awesome. That was incredible, right? That was incredible.
But this is different. There's a different energy. Don't you agree? There's a different energy about this group because there's a lot of new success that have come since that event. And it's crazy to me to see how things transpire and how evolution of a business and people have come.
And I mean, the stories that you see, even today listening to these speakers, just give me goosebumps. And that's why I love coming to these events. I'm an internet marketer. I'm an internet entrepreneur. And a lot of my time is spent in my office with my team.
And I look forward to these events. Because I get to share stories with you and be part of your journey and influence your life. Or hopeful. Hope to do that anyway. So I wanted to put this video together to kind of get in your head right now because I'm going to tell you some stories.
I'm going to give you an insight to my inspiration and influence in my life. And I'm going to share with you a very intimate and touching video clip that very few people have had the opportunity to see. And this is the single most important video clip of my life. And I'm going to tell you the story that led up to that. Because all of you right now are being influenced by other people and ideas and stories.
And it was interesting. I flew in on Thursday afternoon. And Thursday night, the speakers got together with David Wood. And we were sharing stories. And everybody left.
And Dave and I just hung out in his hotel room for two and a half hours. It could have been all night. Okay. We ran out of wine. And so we were just sitting there talking about life.
We weren't talking about life. We weren't talking about Empower Network. We weren't talking about ENV2 or BlogBeast. We were just talking about life. And it's really a great experience when you get to be around your peers and the people you care about, especially people that have succeeded or are where you want to be and be able to share those stories with them.
So my goal here is I'm going to share with you some things. And, you know, my story, a lot of you have heard it or you've seen videos of me. And I was not supposed to be here. This was not what I thought I was going to do in life. I was a professional athlete.
I was a kickboxer. I was a kickboxer professionally, getting hit in the face for a living. And it wasn't the best career choice, but it made me who I am today. And it was through trials and tribulations and failures and successes that led me here to the greater calling. Okay.
I feel like I like serving people, and this is what I enjoy doing. But eventually I wanted to be in the FBI. A lot of you, who knows that story? Some of you? I was an aspiring FBI agent.
That's what I wanted to do is go to work for the government. And I got that opportunity after 9-11. And it was a brief stint with the government that I just said, it just wasn't for me. I wanted more. I wanted to influence more people.
I just didn't want to do that one career. So I made that shift, and here I am today. And, you know, I know what it's like to do great things online and make lots of money. And, you know, you see these success stories, and it all starts where you are right now. I was the head in the back of the room eight years ago.
With a network marketing company, I got rookie of the year because I took action. And a lot of you, I see similarities. And almost every one of you that I've met, I say, gosh, that's where I was. That's the mindset that I had. That's the attitude that I had.
All right? And I know some of you are stuck. Right? John Taffer, you guys know who that guy was at the beginning? How many of you know who that was?
You ever seen that show Bar Rescue on television? John Taffer goes into bars, and he helps save these businesses. And he's notorious for yelling at people. Right? He gets in their face, and he says, clean your kitchen.
Do something. Do good business. And be responsible. And I was always thinking to myself, gosh, I would love to have that guy in my business. Because sometimes my business partners, I want to yell at them.
Okay? And so I like to be influenced by things like that. I love movies. That's why I put that up there. How many of you watch movies to get inspired?
Right? I love that. That is, a lot of you don't know, but I'm a bodybuilder by trade. That is my hobby. I love doing that.
And I'll be competing in the Mr. Minnesota in 2015. Okay? And sometimes I have to sit in my car and watch motivational videos for a half hour to an hour before I even get in the gym. To get my mind right.
Because I'm not going to go in the gym and half-ass it or do it halfway. I'm not built that way. And your business should be the same thing. If you have to disconnect from your family or disconnect from the stress for a half hour and watch something like that, then do it. Because I'm telling you it will make you more productive.
I promise you that. Okay? So I'm going to tell you something. I have a special speaker, a guest that I'm going to put up here. Another person that's influenced my life in a great deal.
But I'm going to give you three things. I want to give you some value that you can write down and take home with you. So if you've got a pen and paper, pull it out. You're going to want to write this down because these are three things that I wish somebody would have told me when I got online or got into business eight years ago. The first thing you need to focus on, the very first thing, is business.
You guys are businessmen and women. You're in business. And this is big business. We're not talking about... Okay?
And obviously, results vary, and they're not typical. And you see these disclaimers. Yes, you all understand that. But you're businessmen and women, and you need to treat this extremely seriously. And you have to understand business.
So how do you do that? Well, you can go to college. Okay, I dropped out of college. Didn't make it that far. But you know what?
I learned to read books. And study people like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Warren Buffet. And I did it not to say, okay, how did they create the iPhone? All right? I couldn't do that.
But I want to know how they think. The creativity to solve problems. You know, some of you are behind the eight. But how many of you had to struggle to get here today? You know, had to kind of bend some corners to get here.
You have to do that. You have to be creative to put yourself in a position to succeed. We heard that this morning. You got to do what you got to do. And a big part of your success...
Your success is your willingness to do that. You know, and I'm not saying to sacrifice your family. Because that's what's important. But to put things and bend things around to what you have to do to be successful. So the first thing you need to understand is business.
Why do businesses succeed? Why do they make money? All right? You look at the successful businesses. Ask yourself, why are these making money?
And start researching them. Because you're going to find similarities in a lot of businesses. Why are certain entrepreneurs and CEOs successful? How do they think? Start studying business.
Because you're going to be able to teach yourself lessons off of their lessons. Just like you hear stories and hear these lessons. So the second thing you need to learn is systems. Okay? Systems run the universe here.
All right? When you walk into a Target store, you don't realize it. But you're part of this big system to get you to buy stuff. Do you agree? Okay?
A lot of people don't realize it. But you saw an ad in a newspaper or a magazine or on television. Got you in the front door to get the sale item. All right? Next to the sale item.
A bunch of other sale items that they get you to purchase. Okay. You got a shopping cart full of stuff now. You're going through the checkout. Now you got the batteries and the bubble gum and the soda pop.
Right? They get you to buy that. Or your kids want to pull that off the shelves. And as you're walking out the door, what do you see? Vending machines.
Quarter machines. Right? They still want to get money before you leave. It's the same thing as the internet. So understand that big Fortune 500 companies don't work any differently than your business works.
They're all the same. So start treating it that way. Understand how systems will run your business. Somebody may not buy the blog beast right away. That's okay.
You know, people call me all the time and say, Chris, I did all this advertising. I didn't make any sales. What do I do? I'm failing. I shake my head and I said, you just started.
Let the systems do what they're supposed to do for you. Chris and I have made a great deal of money here because we've allowed the organic nature and human nature of systems to play out. All right? You're going to do advertising, whether it be free. Or paid or whatever.
You have to allow the systems and the autoresponders and the events to pull people in and inspire them for them to spend money. Do you agree? Okay. So don't expect instant gratification all the time. You're going to have that, but understand that there's systems out there that people must go through to make a buying decision.
You know, Lawrence Tam, he's got a great systems behind your business. Am I right? You use systems, but not only to make money, but to make yourself free. Right? You know, people say, Chris, do you do free?
Do you do free advertising? Technically, no, because I pay people to do it, so it's paid advertising. Okay? But I do that. So we use systems.
We have people call to follow up because I only have, you know, so many hours in a day. Right? And I want to spend that with my family. So you have to have systems in place. So understand that.
The third thing is people. The most important thing you need to understand is people. Period. Listen to people and give them what they want. Stop preaching to them.
Stop drilling points into their head. Just say, I'm going to do this. Just say, hey, how can I help you today? All right? When I talk to people, I look them in the eye and say, how can I help you today?
You know, these are the things that you have to do to get business. Because you know what's going to happen? You're going to attract all these people into your business. They're going to want to do business with you. You don't even have to ask for the order.
They will just buy. You know, the great Frank Kern, it was a prime example of this. And he went out there and he built businesses and set records in the internet marketing industry. Not because he was in their face marketing. People just wanted what he had.
He made them want it because he was helping them. So understand people and why they think, the psychology, and start studying that. And these three things are really important because God knows I've made some mistakes. And I wish I would have looked at these three elements in my business and understood that business is the first thing because you're all in it. Regardless of what you think.
This is big business. Look at Vic. All right? The guy's a master. All right?
But he's no different than you guys. He just does it. He studies a lot. Vic is known for reading a lot of books and studying business. So do the same.
Make yourselves expert of this. Right? So now I want to talk to you about influence and tell you some stories. And I'm going to play a video clip here before I bring up my guest speaker. There was one point in my life, a turning point, that changed my whole paradigm.
My whole life transformed unlike anything I'd ever done before in my life. It was because of my willingness to be influenced by people. And open myself up, throw my ego out the window, and do what I had to do to be around the right people. How many of you are around people that might bring you down all the time? All right?
We all know one or two of them. Okay? That's okay. It's going to happen. You know what?
Just say, I understand. I understand. And move on. Okay? But I'm going to tell you, you need to surround yourself with inspiring people, successful people.
You know what? I don't remember who it was. The gentleman said, hey, I wanted to meet Lawrence Tam. Who was that? Who was that?
Stand up. Let everybody see you. Turn around. Look at this room. He will be $100,000.
He has the right mindset and attitude because meeting a Lawrence Tam or meeting somebody who can influence their life will make you the most successful that you can imagine. That one introduction could lead to massive opportunity, and I believe it will. Okay? Thank you. So I'm going to share with you my story of how that happened for me.
There was a gentleman when I was in network marketing. I started online eight years ago, broker than I was in college, struggling. It was rough. Didn't have hardly any money to my name. And somebody said, Chris, you need to meet this guy.
There's a guy in Las Vegas. His name is Richard Call. Anybody know who that is? Ever heard of that name? Probably not a lot of you.
He's a legend in the network marketing industry. He built the largest organization in new skin. And he said, Chris, you've got to meet this guy. His work ethic is unbelievable. He will help transform your life.
I said, I don't have enough money to get to Vegas. He said, find the money. I'll introduce you.
I'll get you a meeting with him. So I scrambled some money together. I sold some stuff on Craigslist to be able to get enough money. And I flew to Las Vegas. I didn't have enough money.
It was over Memorial weekend. I didn't have enough money for a hotel. So I slept in the lawn of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. I was in a suit. I was dressed nice.
I was meeting the Richard Call. And I remember sitting in the lawn. It was 110 degrees. It was very hot. And I remember it was 8 o'clock in the morning.
And people were coming out of the nightclub at the Hard Rock. And I remember saying to myself, I was like, what am I doing? What am I doing sitting here where all these people my age were partying and having fun? Why was I sitting here miserable, sweating, and struggling? I questioned all the logic that I was, why I was doing what I was doing.
And almost quit. Almost left and couldn't do it. And I remember Richard Call pulling up in his Rolls Royce and seeing me. And it was crazy because the first thing he told me, he was like, well, how was the hotel? And I said, it's fine.
He's like, how were the rooms? I'm like, well, I didn't see the rooms. He's like, what do you mean you didn't see the rooms? I was like, I didn't have enough money for a hotel. And he actually got upset at me.
First words he came out of his mouth were just anger. He was like, don't you ever do that again. You have a place to stay with me if you ever need it. Okay? And that kind of changed.
I'm like, wait a minute. This is a guy who's accumulated hundreds of millions of dollars saying that I can come into his home? Why would he? Why would he do that? I'm a nobody to him.
And to this day, after that meeting and spending the weekend with him, he transformed my life. I've gone on to do some great things online. I've built massive businesses. I've also failed several times. And guess the guy that I've gone to during the hard times?
Richard. You know what he said? He said, Chris, there's only one way that you're going to fail. And that's sign up, don't quit. So I'm going to tell all of you the same thing.
You sign up and you do not quit. Period. Does that make sense? So what are you going to do? You're going to what?
And? Again? Don't quit. Absolutely. Period.
However that works. I don't know how that works. That's it. Period. So I'm going to play a clip for you.
Before I do that, I've got a couple minutes. I want to play a magic. How many of you want to see a magic trick? All right. All right.
All of you have a deck of cards. If you have a deck of cards in your back pocket, check right now. 52 cards in your back pocket, check. I'm just kidding. I'm not that good.
Jeez. But I do have a deck of cards in my pocket. All right. I've got a deck of cards. This is going to illustrate your success.
And believe it or not, it's going to be spot on. This deck of cards has 52 cards in it. Every deck of cards has four jacks, four queens, four kings, and four aces. Right? Right?
No matter what, you're always going to have 52 cards. Your business is going to be reflected in this. No matter if you like it or not, it's the truth, okay? For illustration purposes, I'm going to tell all of you right now, if there's going to be failure in your business, it's because of one reason, and it's inside this deck of cards. And I believe you're all going to push through it.
It's not going to happen. You are good. I know. Look at that. Don't tell them the secret.
All right. So in this card, there's four aces. For illustration purposes right now, the aces are all in sales or they're sales of some kind. Okay? They're success by a certain measure.
Now, you have to go through the cards to get to those aces. Do you remember, right? You got to go through the numbers, the other jacks, the queens, and the kings. So the numbers, the number cards are going to be leads or people coming and seeing your business. Not buyers, just checking it out, okay?
The other face cards are going to be the dream stealers, the debt, the money, the hardship, the reasons, your subconscious saying, what are you doing, Chris? Why are you sleeping in the lawn? Those things, all right? I'm going to tell you why, if there's going to be failure, this is going to be why so you know what not to do, okay? The first person sees your business, it's an eight, okay, they don't buy.
Second person, nope, they don't buy either. Second, can you guys see this on the screen? Okay. It's a two, nope, they don't buy. Oh, just checking it out.
Oh, still checking it out. Oh, here's a jack. You know what? I had a flat tire, got to buy a new tire. Oh, that's rough.
Okay, we got over that. All right, another lead saw it, blog beast, you know, Dave said, a cuss word on that, that's a scam. Number four, oh, that's another lead. Gosh, you're doing all this advertising, you're not making any sales, guys, what's going on? Another lead.
Oh, here's a queen. Your mom just called and said, hey, when are you going to go get a job, a real job? Heard that a few times. Oh, here's another lead, still no buyers. You're showing the plan, you're showing the plan, here's a jack, your subconscious is saying, you know what?
It's getting tough. Money's getting tight. Maybe I should really think about getting a job. Okay, well, we don't believe in that here in this room. Oh, here's a queen.
Guess what? When your kids got sick, you can't work for a few days, it's getting really rough and getting kind of scary, right? Getting kind of scary, you're taking risks. Here's a king. Here's another one of your friends says, Chris, are you still doing that internet thing?
Heard that a few times. Another lead, another lead, no sales, no sales. What's happening here? What's going on with this business? Oh, look what I found.
An ace. We just made a 15K formula sale. All right. Was this worth it? All right.
Let's keep going, right? Hey, we made a thousand bucks. Another lead, another lead, another lead, no buyers. Oh, maybe that thousand dollars is going away to marketing now. You're spending money faster than you're making money.
Oh, another lead. You're going to hate me by making a mess up here. A jack.
This is one of your best friends. He asked you for some money, and you had to say you couldn't. You didn't have it. It's the worst feeling in the world. Another lead.
Oh, another jack. You guys, you had unexpected expenses come up. You're in a position now where you've got to make a decision. Should I keep going, or should I do something else? Maybe I should quit.
It's tough. All right, sign up and don't quit. More leads. More leads. You guys are going to go through lots and lots of leads, and you're going to have dream stealers, and people tell you not to do it, and you're going to get to the end of the deck.
And you know what? On the 50th card, some of you might throw in the towel right before the next two aces appear. If you're not willing to get to the end of the deck, you're never going to find the other two aces. In every deck of cards, there's four aces. In your business, there's always going to be sales that happen.
You have to let the numbers work themselves out. You have to be willing to go through the course, right? You have to be willing to go the distance, as Rocky would say it, because you're always going to run into a couple jokers, too. Okay? You're always going to run into the people that try to ruin your dream.
Don't let that happen. So what I'm going to do now is tell you the most, or show you the most influential video of my life. It's going to touch you in, I think, great ways. And take a look at this quick clip of Richard Call. This is the one that he sent me personally, and that, actually, I used to watch.
I've seen this thousands of times. I watched it every day for years to help me through the hard times. And he's a good friend of mine now. So play the clip. Chris, I just wanted to send you a video out to let you know, to know you is to love you for all your hard work, your consistency of doing it over and over and over again.
And I remember you when I first met you, when you were sleeping out. You had a lawn of a, a major hotel here. The hotel escapes me at the moment. But a major hotel. And you slept, and then you came to my house.
You woke up in the morning and you came to my house. And we had a great time together. You're a very unusual person, a very hard, hard-working person. And I love people that believe in something and work hard. And that's exactly what you do.
So I expect you to go to heights. As big as I can get. That's where I've gone in my career. You're a young fellow. Sometimes I wish I had your age back.
And then sometimes I don't. My next birthday I'll be 70 years old. But I feel pretty good. So with that, my friend, I want to say if you ever need me for anything, I am just a video mail away. And not to repeat myself, you're a very, very special, special person.
See ya. Hi everybody, this is Richard Cole. What am I doing making a video? At about 2.45 a.m. in the morning?
Well, I named this video What makes one person great and another person average? I know one thing, in the business world, the answer I would give to that is that the great person just doesn't quit. No matter what. Against all odds. And the average person does.
The average person in the business world is just average. I make this video at this time in the morning because I'm bothered. I'm bothered by those of you that put your money where your mouth is and things just aren't going as you would like them to go. As you would like to see them go. That bothers me.
And I am. Now, I'm not saying that we're and I don't really know what I, the word I'm looking for right now and I'm not going to do this over because that's me. But there's one thing you've got to know. Those of you that have been around for three and four years know that what I say is 100% true. But those of you that are new, I wish I had that magic pill for you that I could give you.
I'm not saying that this happens just in the technology world. This happens all over the world. This happens in everything. That's what separates people, people that believe from people that don't believe. I'm telling you, and I could look any one of you straight in the eye and if you were here right now in my office, in my home, I could look you straight in the eye and say everything will be fine.
Everything will be fine. Rich, what do you mean? Everything is fine. What are you talking about? Those are the true winners.
Those of you that get into this on a shoestring, your last dollar, sure there's a lot of pressure when things don't happen like this. But imagine that you were at the first telephone, the first cell phone, the first television ever made and you had a chance to represent that. You would have had the same challenges. That would prosper the people that just didn't quit. That just didn't quit.
I don't make this to induce you to please stick around and don't ever leave. I make this to let you know that I'm an average person that never had a high school education but that I never quit in anything I ever did. I make this video especially for the person that never thought that they had a chance in life. I make this video to let that person know that even though you might be behind the eight ball, you have as much chance as anyone else does. I understand what challenges are.
Believe me, I understand what challenges are. You know, here's a book that I wrote 23 years ago called The First Million is the Easiest. It's my first late wife Carol, a champion of champions. We built the business that is still around today. They still derive a tremendous income from that business.
It's called residual income. At our hospital beds we built the business. And on page 88 in this book it's been so long ago, 23 years that I wrote this, invariably you will run into a number of setbacks and disappointments along the way. I've always retained the ability to sit back and smile away these bitter ashes and out of them build an even stronger resolve to continue on. I remember a certain axiom I learned when I was a kid which sums it up most succinctly.
And that axiom is this, nothing worthwhile ever comes easy. That's the truth, my friends. You must be prepared for the bad times as well as the good. But if you can laugh off these heartaches then nothing will be discouraging enough to stop you from picking up the pieces and starting over again with your optimism and faith intact. And as long as you hold tight to that ability to let a smile be your umbrella on a rainy, rainy day then eventually whatever it is you're striving for will happen for you.
I will never forget the day that we found out that Carol had cancer. She looked me in the eye. That was on Thursday. And on Monday evening we were doing a meeting at the Holiday Inn. When you're a quitter you'll never be able to achieve greatness.
But when you're one that doesn't quit and just knows to just keep moving on, moving forth, going ahead no matter against all odds, that's what a winner is. Each and every one of you that may be behind the eight ball that never had a chance in life, you have a chance right now. How many were influenced by that? This is a guy that changed my life and allowed me to be here. Each one of you needs a Richard call.
Whether it's Lawrence Tam or Chris Jones or Vic Streishaus, whoever it is. It could be your neighbor. For whoever that is you need somebody because this is going to get difficult. There's going to be challenges. It's going to happen.
Like David Wood said, you have to have that mindset. You have to have that fire, that fight inside. And I'm going to tell you, I'm going to bring up a guest speaker here, and he's going to rock your world because he's rocked my world. I've lived my life with athletics as being the balance to me, to challenge myself physically to where doctors say, Chris, you know what, you can't do this, you shouldn't do this. I said, forget about it.
That's exactly what I needed to push the boundaries, and so I surround myself with really good people, and that's really critical. If you ask Donald Trump why he's successful, you know what he'll say? He'll point to the guy next to him because of this guy. He has good people around him. So I'm going to bring up somebody here in just a minute, and this is a guy that I met several years ago just in network marketing, we were doing meetings and doing the whole network marketing thing, and he had the drive and the accountability, and I called him a little while back and I said, Mark, I need you, I need you to help me get back on track, and I saw a video clip, I hadn't talked to him in years, we disconnected, lost track of each other, and I saw a video clip on the internet that I'm going to play, it's really short I promise, and it rocked my world, I said, I need this kind of accountability in my life. I can be accountable for my business and my success, but I also need accountability.
Okay? So I reached out to this person. He's helped me get in the best shape of my life, create a mindset of failure is not an option regardless of anything going on in your life, and he pushes me every single day in and out of the gym. I can go to him with personal issues, business issues, and he so happens to be one of our best sales guys that's helping with our iPass system that we launched with Empower Network. So I want to introduce a quick video clip of Mark, and then I'm going to bring him up here, and he is going to rock your way of thinking, I promise you that. So let's roll this real quick.
Ask yourself right now if the boy that you were 30 years ago would think of the man that you are now as a hero or not. I come from a tough love background. If you're training with me, you get an enormous dose of accountability. It's not an option to quit. The only thing I can give you for your best excuse is a shitty result. The only dose of accountability is to make sure that we take all those excuses off your plate when we start getting results. I would say to that guy that slumped over and stuck, I would say get your ass up, get your body moving, and get your intention for life back, because it's right there for you to take. Wake up your damn warrior spirit because it's in there. Strap your balls back on and go take charge of your life. And when you become an intentional results-getting man, that's a confident, humble, take-charge man, you become attractive to others, you become attractive to your family, you become attractive to your wife, and guess what, life gets good. So this is my coach, Mr. Mark Dale, everybody.
I just heard Chris is doing a show, and when? You told him you're doing the Mr. Minnesota? And you say that here, this is the first time I'm hearing about it. We got some work to do, alright. I just heard about that now.
Like Chris said, I hand out doses of accountability to people. Accountability is what people come to me all the time, they say, Mark, I just need to be accountable. I said, you got it, now what do you want to do? I found that accountability is the one thing that when people get it, they don't want it anymore. I'm just putting it out there, I'm just telling you what's what. Yeah, hold my feet to the flame, please, I need to get back in shape. Here you go, it's hot, and then they get sore. And never mind, when Chris told you, said you were inspired by my attitude, I want to talk to you guys today in hopes that you can receive what I'm about to tell you, from maybe a different point of view, maybe a different angle of attack, maybe a different way that you can receive this, but at least it will make sense to you. I just want to help you.
I want to talk about attitude. Half the room may have just thought to themselves, well, here we go again, some guy's going to talk about attitude. Well, if that's you, I'm the one I want to talk to you. Alright, the reason I want to talk about attitude, on the most basic fundamental level of whatever we're doing, in Empower Network, business, training, getting in shape, we have to have the right attitude in order to go forward with life, okay?
There's a few definitions for the word attitude. If it's an aeronautical point of view, from a plane, as a plane is flying through the air, the attitude of the plane is the nose of the plane. Is the attitude north, or pointed positively? As that plane goes forward, if it's positive attitude, it's going to go upwards and go up and onward with life, okay? If that plane has a negative attitude, and that plane's nose is pointed down, the attitude is negative, it's going to go into the dirt. That's just an aeronautical definition of the word attitude.
I'll submit to you that my point of view on attitude is a filter, and it is either a very powerful, helpful filter, or it is the most wicked, deadly filter you'll ever deal with, and I'm going to start preaching it pretty hard to you right now. I won't yell at them too much, I can get yelly. I start stretching out up here a little bit. Look, I train. I have trained mixed martial arts fighters. I've trained military. I've trained, sometimes I get drill sergeant, so I apologize.
So let's look about attitude as a filter, okay? I would submit to you that there's a filter right behind your eyeballs, there's a filter right behind your ears, and it's a filter that we don't think about, but it's a filter that everything I see, everything I hear, everything I know, has to go through this filter first, and the filter is my attitude, it's an attitude filter, okay? So if my filter is positive, I will then receive whatever I need to do, receive whatever information I'm about to get, and my attitude needs to give it a positive slant before I deal with it.
Now, what I want to share with you is that my opinion on attitude is it is a free will choice, and it's something that you can do and choose. I wake up every morning, I put my feet on the floor, and I choose my attitude. I put a hat on that says positive attitude, okay? This is my filter, this is where I go through my day. Now, everything you want to talk to me about is going to go through this filter. I chose to put on a good filter, a good attitude. I chose to put it on. Give me adversity right now, you know, anything, give me any sort of adversity, I will respond to it, but what I'm going to have is a positive slant on it first, I'm going to try to receive it in a positive point of view, does that make sense? I have made a very intentional decision to have a positive, good attitude, and it's here all the time, okay? You can give me bad news, and you can give me challenges, and you can give me adversity, but it doesn't matter, because I will have this attitude, it is my positive filter, and it's my, it's my decision, I decided to put that on.
Alright, now let's reverse that a little bit, let's talk about what if I just wanted to put a negative filter on, or a negative attitude. It's my free will choice, I don't have to be positive, no. Oh yeah, no yeah, I get to do it. Here's my problem, when I put a hat on like this, I start huffing around the gym, I start huffing around. You can give me really good news right now, you can give me really good news, but my filter is going to receive that and make it go negatively first before I'm going to deal with it, does that make sense, are you tracking?
Here's what people sound like with this filter on, and I see it all the time, I see it, you see it, might be you, if it's you, here we go. Hey Mark, there's five bricks of gold right there, they're yours, you can have them. Well, I got this filter on, I'm like, well that sucks, they're heavy, I'll have Chris pick them up. No, this is good, they're my bricks, they just gave me gold bricks. But look, they're heavy, now I got to pick them up, now I got to carry them, now someone's going to see me carrying gold bricks around and they're going to punch me in the head and steal them from me. No, I'm sorry, I'm going to offend your inner wussy today, and I will inspire your inner badass.
Okay, no, but look, why did he have to give me gold bricks, they're so heavy, and I don't know what to do because I got this on. Mark, you just got a stack of gold bricks. I'm like, giddy up, don't touch my bricks, they're mine. Now I got news for you, I prepared myself in life to take that stack of gold bricks, I will put it in a backpack and I will walk my happy butt up highway 35, right straight north, highway 35 goes straight from downtown Dallas straight to Minneapolis, I'll carry those bricks myself, it's good news, okay?
Mark, you just won the lottery. Ahh, I got to pay half in taxes, Chris is going to want me to take him out to dinner. Look, it's good news, but I'm putting it through my negative filter first, and now I'm dealing with it, right? Ahh, everybody's going to ask me for money, the government's going to take it, ahh, this is what I chose today. Mark, your family has cancer, somebody died, someone's in the hospital, it's bad news, it's bad news, it's life happens. Got this on, I can receive bad news, and it will go through my positive filtered attitude, and I will deal with that bad news or bad circumstance or adversity the best I can. It's not all unicorns and rainbows and glitter, this helps, it helps a lot, but you choose, you choose, you choose how you're going to put this hat on, what are you going to do?
I listen to a lot of people tell me what they want to do. I listen to Chris tell me what he wants to do, and I don't start listening for long. I'll listen to somebody tell me what they want to do only for so long, because I cannot even hear them anymore, because I instantly start looking at their feet to see what they're going to do. Yeah, the video, I challenge people's ball sack, I happen to do it all the time. Deal with a lot of guys telling me what they want to do, I'll love them where they're at, and I'll listen to them, and I'll do my best to help them, but I won't listen long, because I can't hear them anymore, because I'm looking at their feet, I want to see what they do.
That man right there, when he says it's going to happen and he says he's going to do it, he does it. I respect this man more and more every day, okay? We are very lucky to have him to look to as an example on how we can do our business with Empower Network, you guys are in a good spot, okay?
Let me put it to you another way, hang on a second. I like that hat, I know it's a good hat, so give me adversity, to a man who's wearing one of these, or woman, give me adversity. Now give me adversity, but I have this filter on and I will break, I will break, adversity will break this filter, and if it's on, you better do something about it, you better turn your damn hat around. Now give me adversity. Yeah, are they unicorn dragons, like with fairy dust? Exactly right, I'll get my slingshot out. Now you give me adversity, when I've got this filter on, I will break records, I'll break records, I will just break.
I'm suggesting to you that this attitude is your free will choice, please know that, understand that, and for the rest of the weekend, if someone's getting all upset, you say, look, turn your damn hat around, I'll understand that's fine, at least they'll know what we're talking about. Now when you go home and you tell who else, listen, your damn hat's on backwards, they'll be like, what? You'll be like, right.
Now we're going to wrap it up here, and I'm going to put a bow on this. But let me explain to you one more way that this might be very helpful for you. If this is the way you've got your hat on, you have an advantage in life, it's a sneaky advantage you have over everybody else, and I hope that when they see you, they can see this type of attitude. And when Chris said, look, I just saw the guy's attitude and it was infectious, and it worked on me, and it just passed it through. It is like, let me explain to you, this is like having this attitude, it's like who doesn't want a whole bunch of extra aces up their sleeve, right there. Now I'll love you where you're at, if this is where you're at, I'll love you here, but I hope you can at least now see you have an option to change it, you have an option to choose what your filter is, please choose the right filter.
I couldn't be happier to share this with you guys today, I hope that you get something from it, I hope the best for all of you guys, really. Chris, anything else you want to share with these people?
Right on, you guys, that's our time, that's good.
