You were listening to the Empower Network Inner Circle, the best way to get your daily audio training, which is one of the eight core commitments here with Empower Network. I have the pleasure of introducing the spiky hair Asian man who crossed 100K in a month and one of your million-dollar ring earners in Empower Network. Training you today, Lawrence Tam. Hey guys, welcome to the Inner Circle. My name is Lawrence Tam.
I'm your host for tonight. And I got a special guest speaker and he's going to be coming on and training you kind of some of the things he's done and what he's been able to accomplish in our industry of make money from home, internet marketing, network marketing, creating products. Please welcome my man, Toby Black. What's going on, brother? What's up, my man?
How you doing? Good day from another mother. I'm ecstatic. I actually just got back from the gym. And Laila and I started working out.
Again, about a week ago, starting to burn the fat again. So feeling good. Awesome, man. And so what's pretty cool is we're doing this interview during the day. You actually have the time to go to a gym during the day, not going to a cubicle or reporting into work and dressing up and talking to your boss.
It's pretty neat. So today we're going to be touching upon some of the things that Toby's been able to do in our industry. Now, Toby, why don't you give our audience the sauce? What's the sauce for today? Yeah, today we're going to be chatting about life mastery.
A lot of times on the Internet, because we're online, we're staring at our iPad, our computer screen, our phone. We lose contact with the real world, our life. We just talk about capture pages, leads pages, PPC. We talk about blogging. We talk about all these different techniques and strategies and numbers and formulas that at the end of the day, we forget sometimes that we are human beings.
We're passionate. We're energetic. We're emotional people. And we make decisions based on our emotions. So if you're approaching your business right now in an emotional way that's not serving you, you're probably not getting the results that you want, even though you have access to the inner circle, even though you have access to the 15K formula, even though you have access to all of these different trainings on the Internet, you're approaching them differently and they're approaching them in a way that's not getting you the results because you don't have your life in check.
You don't have yourself in check. And you're just, for whatever reason, from years of programming or abuse or whatever, you're not approaching your business in the mindset that you need to in order to get to the next level. So today, I'm going to be giving you five simple steps that we've been able to use in our life, Layla and I, to go from living in the basement of a bar numerous years ago with no money, no business contacts, no future, to living in a beautiful Victorian home, making millions of dollars from the Internet, traveling the world, but more importantly, having the freedom to actually live our life with no restrictions. Because let's be honest, when has restrictions ever been fun? Even the word restriction makes me kind of shiver a bit, makes me kind of go, ooh, it doesn't have a fun, fulfilled meaning behind it.
So today, a five-step formula for mastering yourself, your life, your business, so you can burn your mortgage and live free in the moment here today. Burn your mortgage. That's kind of like the big, like ankle shackle. And when you're saying the word restriction, I was thinking about like a pair of pants that's just a little bit too tight. I love it that everything with you and I resorts back to eating and lunchtime.
So let's just dive right on in here. The first one that I'm going to be talking about here might be on the surface level very simple for you, but it might take you a week, a month, a year to digest. And really be able to take it with enough meaning and enough weight that you actually act on it. And that's going within. See, when we start our business, when we start our journey on the internet, when we start this epic adventure of internet marketing in the home-based business arena, we start it where we're at, obviously, right?
So for you, that might be struggling to pay the mortgage or struggling to pay rent. Bill's piling up. Lots of external stresses going on in your life for a couple of months, a couple of years, whatever the case may be. Maybe you lost your home. Maybe you lost everything.
I don't know what your case is. I don't know what your story is, but from being in the community, I know the consensus. So if you're approaching your business with this stressed out, worried, anxious mindset, how are you going to free up the space between your ears to be creative, to get people to join you and to join your business? You're not. And that's why any successful person from any walk of life, when you hear them talk about businesses, especially in the home-based business arena, and they talk about when they were failing in the beginning, they were blaming external things.
But when they finally woke up and realized that it was an internal thing, they started to do work on themselves, started to become more self-aware, started to live their life a different way. They started to get results because let's think about this. If you're living your life right now for the results that you have in your life right now, what you have, everything that's coming to you right now is a result of how you've been living your life in the past 90 days, 120 days, one year, two years. So if you can look back and say, okay, I'm not where I want to be in life right now, financially, mentally, spiritually, with my business, with my family. If I'm not there, I look back at my previous years and say, okay, I need to do something different.
So right now, you and I, I give you permission to do it. You're going to approach your life and your business a different way. So tips that Layla and I recommend about going within is change your daily formula. If your daily formula consists of when you wake up in the morning before you get to work, you watch the news while you eat your breakfast, or you listen to the news on the way in the car. And as much as I love music and I'm, a rock star and play in a band, maybe use a different formula in the morning.
So rather than listening to other things that aren't empowering you right then and there, change it to these inner circle audios, change it to an audio book, change it to something that is going to empower you. If when you get home from work, you normally see the kids for a brief moment, you have dinner, and then you and your wife or whoever, your partner hit the couch to watch TV. I'm not saying don't eliminate. I'm not saying eliminate that completely. I'm not saying don't eliminate that completely.
I'm not saying eliminate that completely. All I'm saying is you need to change different things in your life and your formula and your routine to get different results. So instead of watching the TV for an hour or three hours in the night, whatever you and your partner used to do, it might not be TV, it might be some other recreational hobby that you do to kind of release some stress that so you think, why not invest that time into bettering yourself, invest that time into learning, invest that time into meditation, invest that time into, all of these different things like breathing, for example, you would be surprised to know that over 90% of the population in the world don't even breathe properly. We breathe solely from our neck and our chest. We're really when you're breathing from your diaphragm from your stomach, that's when you really start to loosen up, relax, get everything pumping the right way.
That's why a person if you listen to a guy like Deepak Chopra, always talking about breathing, the basis of everything, business decisions, life decision that he does starts with his breathing, because it's one of the most fundamental things, right? If you don't breathe, you don't exist, you don't exist, you're dead. So get right with going within. Now, I don't mean become a monk, I'm not saying eliminate your TV, eliminate everything in your life that's not paying you. I mean, that's what we did when we first got started.
But we were crazy kids that didn't know any bear. And we winded up burning ourself out after a couple of years. And we'll get more on that in a second here. But just divide your time greater. So you can shift your formula.
That's an interesting topic. Because if you think about it, and you could do an easy test on this. So let's say today you're listening to this, try this test tomorrow, go through your standard routine. Okay? The day after that, instead of doing your standard routine, go ahead and watch the news, listen to public radio, watch, you know, like some depressing, you know, sad movies, and read the newspaper.
Okay? And then the day after that, go ahead and not do any of those, but only go through things that are empowering, like go for a run, you know, read an inspiring book, listen to an inner circle audio, talk to your spouse, or your partner and talk something about that, you know, the goals and dreams versus Oh, our mortgages do or Oh, we have these bills. So if you take yourself from where you are, and then you look at what's negative, which is the news, which is newspapers, stuff, and then, and then you go into thinking something that's, you know, very, very positive. How does your marketing, how does your ideas, how do you feel? And what you're talking about is awesome, because a lot of people go through life, and they're like, I can't build my business, or I can't drive traffic.
A lot of it's because your creativity is formed into what you watch. And most of the stuff, what you watch, like the average American watches, like reality TV, which has no imagination. And so a lot of that just crumbles when they try to write ad content. And so a lot of that just crumbles when they try to write ad content. And the beautiful thing is, guys, everybody listening, you are a genius, you are a creative genius, you have everything you need within your ears right now, to make that six and seven, eight figure income to have that lifestyle.
The only thing you've just suppressed it, it's just been pushed down with a bunch of junk on top, exactly the same way that we all actually have a six pack below our flubber. But over the years of, you know, we've been doing a lot of negative eating, let's just say, or overindulgement, we've pushed that six pack down to where there's now this nice little puppy fat belly on top. It's exactly the same thing you have right now, everything you need to be that entrepreneur, that successful business owner, it's just been pushed down by things that you've learned, done, seen, picked up, been programmed through for years of learning for school and parents and whatnot. So the first one in the five step formula is going within change your daily routine, you will be dramatically impacted, your life will dramatically change, it will revolutionary change when you change your formula, when you change your routine, if you just take out a couple of those things that cost you an hour or two hours a day, and plugged in something that you love to do, like meditation, like yoga, like going for a walk, exercising, speaking with your family, something productive for yourself, you'll notice that you wake up easier, you sleep better, you have more energy, you're healthier. And then that all leads you down the path to being more creative.
Number two in our five step formula is finding a mentor. Layla and I were so lucky and I guess we're going to revert, I'm going to revert back to Layla and I story a lot. Why? Because that's the only story I have. That's the only path that I've taken in this industry.
And I'm giving you everything that we've done wrong and done right along the years. So you can learn from it and take what you need from it to move to the next level. When Layla and I first got started in this industry, almost six years ago, in network marketing, traditionally at a hotel room, we were lucky enough to start with mentors. We weren't just invited by a friend or a family. Well, we were, my dad took us, but we had personal mentorship from the get go.
No, they weren't on our ass every single day asking us for the production. No, they weren't in our face and lived anywhere near us. No, they weren't babying in us. No, they didn't give us absolutely everything we needed to do to get to the next level. But they, so you don't need that.
The mentor, like we, we consider Tony Robbins a mentor, but we've never been to his live event. We've never seen him in person, but we've been able to enthrall ourself in what he does. That's a little side note. So anybody that's complaining that they don't have mentors, you just haven't looked hard enough and wanted to find one hard enough. So we got started in this industry and we were luckily had these people showing us what they were doing to be successful.
Now, luckily for us, Layla and I were absolutely crazy. We still are crazy. And we didn't hesitate one bit to write down a name of three mentors. And we didn't hesitate one bit to write down a name of three mentors. I'll write down a list of 300 people that we knew 20 something year old punks who'd never made money before that our friends and family looked at as like these washout kids who live in the basement of a bar, but we would hammer the phone, inviting people to hotel rooms and inviting people to our, our house.
And we failed and we failed hard. We failed fast and we failed measurably for a month and then another month and then another month. And then within three months of network marketing, we got our first check of like 300 and something dollars. Was that going to pay the mortgage? No, it wasn't going to pay the rent.
No, it wasn't going to pay absolutely anything. No, because it didn't even cover our auto ship. But what it did do was prove to us that this thing's real. And if you work hard enough and fast enough and don't ask questions and just go out there and take action with mentorship, you can be successful. When we jumped onto the internet, when we kind of left, we didn't leave the traditional network marketing game behind.
We were still doing it, but we're focusing more of our attention on the internet. We found mentors right away, mentors who had to be successful. And we found mentors who had to be successful. And we found the results we wanted, who were showing us what they did to get there. And that was it.
We didn't need them to give us a checklist. We didn't need them to get, would it have helped us? Yes, it would have been awesome. But we didn't let that stop us from getting to the next level. We didn't let that restrict us.
There's that word restriction to get to the next level. We didn't put a wall up. We just broke through the wall. Whenever there was a hiccup or whenever there's, I deleted our entire blog one Friday night when Layla went out. Whenever we did all these different things that was a road bump in our journey to success, we didn't let it get us done.
We just moved forward. We just moved past it. Now, getting a mentor in any business is definitely key, but also getting a mentor in life. For me, one of my life mentors is Deepak Chopra. I've never met him.
Actually, yeah, we met him at a book signing up here, but I've been to one of his events and a book signing up here, but he's been mentoring me in my life for six years. He's been mentoring me in my life for six years. He's been mentoring me in my life for six years. From his books, his audios, and his stuff online. So find a mentor in business and find a mentor in life and actually do what they say.
Don't just read the book or listen to the audio when they're giving you directions on stuff to do and then never do it. That's knowledge, but it's not powerful knowledge. It's not putting it into action, so it's absolutely useless. How many people do you know in your life that know a ton of stuff, but they're broken unhappy because they don't put what they know into practice? Finding a mentor, having a mentor, having a few mentors in your life pushes you to the next level, brings your level of thinking and awareness up to another level.
Step number three inside the simple formula for life mastery is deciding to be successful and get a marry me business. I'll get to the marry me business here in a second, but deciding to be successful. I guarantee 97% of people listening to this haven't even decided that they're going to be successful. They've flirted with the idea of being successful. They've visioned it.
They maybe watched a video of some guy or girl who has a car and a lifestyle and a boat and all this, and they flirted with the idea of daydreaming of them being that person. They flirted with what they would buy. They flirted with how their friends and family would feel about them, but they haven't made the decision. They haven't made the decision to be successful. Luckily, at a young age, my mom and dad turned me into sports or turned me on to sports, rugby, ice hockey, football in the UK, and I became excellent at everything that I did in those sports and ended up playing professional hockey because I decided I was going to be good at it.
I was lucky enough as an upbringing, my mom and dad rarely ever told me no. They made sure that they filled me with enough belief. Even if they knew I was making a decision that was the wrong decision at that time, they let me make it. They let me make it. They let me make it.
So I had the belief to go out and make these decisions in future in life, even though it was the wrong decision. I had to learn from it. They let me make that decision. So I built the belief inside myself that I can make these decisions. Now, right now, you may be thinking, well, I didn't have that upbringing, Toby.
I was sheltered as a kid or put down as a kid, or I didn't have parents or whatever the case may be. And that's great because guess what? You have the biggest gift of all. Time. Today is a clean slate.
Tomorrow is a clean slate. You can decide for yourself. You know what? I've been living my way, my, my life this way for 10 years, 15 years, 20 years, 40 years. That's great.
That's now behind me. I'm living my life this way from here on out. You make that decision in an instance, and then you back it up by going within and having a mentor. It's just like the person who smoked for 25 years. They smoked a pack a day, loved it.
They grew up in a time where smoking was actually good for them, supposedly. And then they go to the doctor one day for a routine checkup. And the doctor takes all their vitals and said, you've been smoking for how long? If you don't quit smoking today, you're going to die in the next two years. And in that heartbeat, in that instance, in that flash of time, that person immediately decides that I'm going to quit.
If they don't quit, they're not going to be around their family for much longer. If they don't quit, they're not going to see their grandchildren grow up. If they don't lose weight, they're not going to see their grandchildren grow up. If they don't get healthy, if they don't release the stress, they're not going to see their grandchildren grow up. So in a moment, the enough emotional leverage that they had completely kiboshed, completely eliminated the 25 year routine they've built up.
And that's a strong routine to build up every single day, smoking a pack. They eliminate that in a heartbeat because their desire and their emotional leverage to make that decision to quit was so strong. So maybe right now in your business, you haven't made that decision, life or death yet. Maybe you haven't because your situation isn't life or death yet. But just understand if you keep going the way that you're going, you're not going to have the brightest, most prosperous, most fulfilled life that you want.
And to me, that's dying. You want to be able to build churches. You want to be able to build water wells. You want to be able to be a leader. You want to be able to be a role model in your community.
You want to be able to do things for your friends and family. You want to be able to be the best person you can be. And you can't do that when you go to a job eight, 10 hours a day and be demanding to do things you don't want to do around people you don't even like for money that barely even gets you by at the end of the week. That is just what Layla calls where dreamers go to die. You're a dreamer.
You're a creator. You are a positive, influential person. Right now, might not be showing that because of the path that you've been taking or even some people, not even their choice to take that way, but they've just been driven in there by external things. But understand it's okay. It's awesome.
It's all part of your life journey. But today, right now, this instance, you can make that decision to get to the next level. And when you decide to be successful, magical things happen. The second part of step three was get a marry me business. Now, we're all lucky.
We have a marry me bed, this inside the inner circle within power, because we're passionate about it. We got amazing founders. We have infrastructure. Everything is there for us. But more importantly, we're passionate about it.
See, if you just get into a business to make money, unless your number one desire in life and you do anything to make money, if it's not that, then it's not going to work. Because once the money starts to slow down or you don't make any money, you're going to lose focus, lose sight and end up not taking action on it. So you must find something that you're truly passionate about. Luckily for Laila and I, helping people get to the life that we've been able to make for ourselves. We're so passionate about it.
It doesn't matter if we're blogging, we're on video, we're on PPC. Our message is always the same. We come from this place of wanting to help people. We're genuinely passionate about it. So we do it even when the money stops coming.
So we feel fulfilled. It's just like the person that said, when you find something you love, you never work a day in your life because you're just enjoying what you're doing. Step number four inside of the five-step formula is focus. I heard an acronym one day by, I think it was Jerry. Do you remember that guy that used to come to the events?
Jerry? With corporate or? No, no, no, no. This is a, he's a public speaker. Oh man.
He's an MLM public speaker. We met him through Cedric. Oh, Jerry. You're talking about, unconditional. No, it's a unbreakable.
Oh man. This is. I'll get it for you. I'll get it for you. Jerry, Jerry, Jerry.
He, he taught, he taught, spoke about the magical world. Oh man. I got you. Hold on. Hold on.
It is Jeffrey, Jeffrey Combs. No, no, no, no, no. Jeffrey Combs. That's another guy. That's another.
Oh, this is going to bug me. Maybe we'll get to it. This could be a huge open loop, but a guy, he, he said, focus firmly on course until successful. Firmly on course until successful. Firmly on course until successful when reading that out, when seeing that, it sounds pretty simple, right?
I'm going to stay on course, learning marketing, implementing marketing every day, taking action every day until I'm successful. And if you had that simple mindset of focus and everything that you did, you would finish everything that you start. See, it's not the starting of the business. Where you get, where you go wrong. It's the finishing.
And by finishing, I mean, sticking in, not quitting. It's easy to start something. It's easy to start motivated and inspired, but it's way harder to stay motivated and inspired to get to the next level. But when you're focused, when you're firmly on course every single day, taking action on everything that you're doing, whether it be learning, whether it be implementing, whether it be going to an event, whether it be nothing to do with your business directly, but yoga and meditation and how you communicate with your family and just being an all-round better person, when you are focusing, amazing things happen. Amazing things happen because you don't quit things.
Amazing thing happen is because you finally see results in your health, in your life, in your internal thinking and well-being, in your bank account. You finally start. You have to see results because you forget about quitting. There is no such thing as quitting. The only way that you fail and do not succeed in your business is if you quit.
So if you eliminate, if you eliminate quitting from your mindset, it'll never happen again. Then all you've got to do is just work towards success. And when you're working towards success, something magical happens when you're in the process of getting to the next level. Something magical happens. You start to feel more confident in yourself.
Even though you don't have the hundreds of leads a day, the thousands of dollars streaming into your account, when you start to get a little bit of success, like someone even commenting on your post or a lead opting in to here, you start to get a little bit more confident. And as you get a little bit more confident, you start to take more action. The more action you take, the more results you get. The more results you get, it fuels your confidence, which then gets you to take more action. And before you know it, you're just an all-out, massive, action-taking person.
You're a badass mofo who's out there doing five, six different things at once, but you're taking massive action every day and you're getting results for them. Number five, the final step in the five-step formula for mastering yourself, your life, and your business so you can burn your mortgage and live free today is reminding yourself daily of why you're doing what it is that you're doing. As something as simple as reminding yourself why you're doing this business. Is it family? Is it friends?
Is it yourself? Is it money? Is it travel? Is it security? Is it adventure?
What is it? Clearly define that for you. A technique that we always teach with people that we're around that we learned from Frank Kern and a couple other different people was, The dream day, doing your dream day exercise. If you haven't done your dream day exercise, I challenge you to do it today, tonight, before you go to bed. The dream day exercise, there's a couple of different components to it.
The first one is you take a sheet of paper and you draw. Don't worry. If you saw my drawing, you would say, oh, okay, he draws like a three-year-old. Actually, probably three-year-olds draw better than me. Maybe a six-month-old.
I can do this. So don't worry about your drawing skills. But all this entails is you're drawing a picture that when you look at it, it almost brings you to tears if you don't cry. It infuels and inspires everything that you're working for, the reason that you're doing this business. Because what we're doing is not normal.
What is the norm? The norm is go to school, get good grades, get a good job, and then they'll take care of you and pay you. Well, we all know that. That's BS now. It was okay coming out of the Great Depression, but it's not okay now.
I read a stat the other day that in the U.S. there was something like 183 people or 83 people to every one job or half a job. It was something absolutely ridiculous. Where in the Great Depression, there was like 15 jobs to one person coming out of the Great Depression. So what we're doing here is not normal.
So you have to get out of the mindset of normal, of average, of poor, and get into the mindset of crazy, extraordinary, leading by example. And how you do that is by being inspired. It's easy for us to live our day in the mediocre, in the mediocrity, and do this job and not get ahead and not look at it. It's easy to do that. That's why the people that succeed, that's why so many people fail, because it's easy to fail.
It's hard to get to the next level. But if you every single day remind yourself of why you're doing this, your kids, your family members, your parents, whatever it is for you, draw that picture on there. For me, when I did my drawing, it entailed a mountainside with me. And Leila and all of our family on it. There was a plane and a pool and an ocean.
And me, and you can hear, I think you can hear my little one in the background shouting right now, Beatrice. For me, when I look at that picture, even though it looks like a kindergarten person draw it, not a 20-something-year-old man, to me, it fuels me with enough passion to go out there and work harder than anybody else. It goes out there and fuels me to work harder than any of these normal people. It fuels me to go out and make decisions. I make tough decisions in my life so I can have the better things that I want for my family and friends.
Once you've drawn it, then I want you to write out your dream day. So start in the morning and finish that night and be in so much detail. I want you to actually write down how you're thinking when you're in your dream day. What are the surroundings? How does it feel?
How does it smell? What do you see? Who is with you? What is the conversation? What are you talking about?
What you are talking about? How does it make you feel? How are the other people feeling around you? What are they saying to you in this situation in your dream day? It may take you a page.
It may take you 10 pages. You may end up writing a book and publishing that book. But as long as you're into it and you're clearly defining what it would be, what your dream day would be, you're doing the exercise right. See, when you write down this stuff, when you put it out there into the world, into the atmosphere, into the universe, you're solidifying it. You're now putting it into your subconscious.
You're stamping it. You're branding it to yourself. It's no longer just this fictional idea. This thing that you dream about when you are in your cubicle and it's just before lunch breaking. You're so tired and you daydream into this daydream land.
Now, this is something that's real. This is something that's in front of you. This is something that you're working towards and magical things happen when you have that. The last part of reminding yourself daily, of why you're doing it is come up with your own mantra. Come up with your own, your own slogan mantra.
I just did a quick Wikipedia search. It says a mantra is a word or sound repeated to aid concentration and meditation or a statement or a slogan repeated frequently or it's a statement or a slogan that pick picture. I don't know how to say that word. It embodies. Basically, what it means.
So for you, what is your mantra? What is your statement? Write it down. Maybe one word. It may be a sentence.
It may be a paragraph, but have it with you daily because when you approach this little old internet marketing game with blogging and PPC and traffic sources and all these different things, when you approach it with the mindset that I will never quit, I'm on course to be successful. I'm doing this for my family. I'm doing this for my family. And it's only a matter of time until I get there. Everything changes in your business, how you write, how you look in video, how you take action towards thing, the amount of action that you take, the results you get, the leads you get, everything changes because now you're a new person and you can create that new person every single day.
So before I wrap it up and give it back to Lawrence here, I just want to talk about what I shared in the beginning of running in circles and burning yourself out. Layla and I have been, have went through. Many circles of life or cycles of our success in this industry will call. To having different things in our life personally and business wise come up that burnt us out that we took on over a year. I mean, no, we didn't take it completely off.
We're still sending emails here doing a couple of different things, but mentally we weren't in the area we needed to be in order to get to the we weren't taking the action we needed to get sustain the results that we had built or the results that we wanted. So we had to do what you're doing right now. We had to go in and change our routine. We had to go in and look at what we were doing daily. We had to go in and look at what we were focused on.
We had to go in and look at where we were spending our time. And by doing that in a matter of weeks, we've been able to increase our income 10% and knowing that we're moving towards 20 and 30 and 40 and getting it back up and beyond where it used to be because we changed what we did in our day. We changed our focus and we changed our routine. So wrapping that up, guys, the five. Step formula to mastering your life, mastering your business and burning your mortgage and living free.
Back to you, Lawrence, man, as that is, that is pretty sick. Having a dream day and I think a lot of us, I know I don't speak for myself and the fact that most of my dreams when I was working as an engineer was the avoidance of pain. It wasn't in a positive aspect of like, Hey, I would like to be on a beach or be on a mountainside looking over a pool, breathing fresh air. It was more like I kind of don't want to be here and I think that's a lot of, you know, a lot of people are like that and in the main reasons because you know when you're when you're in a situation where if you're in a job and you dislike it, I mean there's only one thing to think about what you dislike and it just consumes you and so what you do is you change your outlook. Well you know where you don't want to be, but let's think about where you want to be.
Let's think about dreams and goals and actually right. So instead of shutting it down and visualizing and thinking about it, it's a more productive task or more productive goal for you to achieve than avoidance of pain because you could be, you know, let's say you hate your job and you hate your cubicle. That could just mean you just get laid off and fired. That's not exactly a solution to, you know, your dream or goal, which is, you know, avoidance of pain. So instead, let's think about where do you want to be?
Because if you think about where you want to be and how you want to grow, then you put yourself in action. To achieving those things. Let's say you want to buy a bigger house because your house is crowded. That's cool. Well, how would you do that?
Where would you want to live? Where were, who do you want your neighbors to be? And, and these, this type of thinking isn't really taught in school. I mean, what's taught in school is, you know, you're supposed to work for somebody or maybe you're supposed to go out on your own, but really school is, is a, is a structure of the past. I mean, if you think about it, I mean in engineering specifically, we've learned a bunch of theories.
I mean, you think about it, these theories are based on things that are, you know, like hundreds of years old, they're fundamental, but how do you apply that to life? I mean, like I remember my wife telling me, what am I going to use calculus and why do I need to learn it? And so, and I get that, you know, it is not primarily about the exact thing because people are so thinking about, I need the one, two, three, you know what I need to do. You need to stop thinking like that because life is never, like a one, two, three. I mean, if I told you to go to the grocery store, how many ways can you get to the grocery store?
There's a shortcut here there. You're probably stopped in front of a car, you know, maybe you wait at the light or maybe I'll let, you know, grandma Joe Josephine come out. You know, there's, it's never like you're never going to paint the exact picture from going point a to point B, but a lot of people want that for their business. And then when they come to the first obstacle, you know, your first inclination is to quit because, Oh, I didn't expect that hurdle. I didn't understand that.
We know why my traffic went down or, Oh, that didn't work as planned, but the only real losers in our industry are those who quit. And Toby was talking about if you stick to your goals, stick to your dreams, no matter how hard or how difficult or how confusing it may be, you could be the guy like Toby who didn't know anything and started making money, not because he didn't know anything, but because he took, you know, massive action. That's it. And just taking massive action then allows you to figure out how to get from point a to point B going to the grocery store is the same thing. We just do it subconsciously knowing when to break and knowing when to turn right or turn left.
And that's the same thing with any business. And sometimes with their businesses, they'll have, you know, a bright spot or sometimes they'll have a dark point, but that's okay. Cause if you average it out and you continue working on your business, you'll get, and be exactly where you need to be because that's where you're pointing. So, Toby, you know, say, say hello to baby B and say, say hello to Layla. Thank you very much for attending this.
Do you want any last words for the inner circle members? No, just go with what we just said. If, if it's simple and as powerful as if you just go through everything that we just went and actually implemented into, into your life, you'll see dramatic changes. That's it. So just do it.
Yeah. So listen to this inner circle a couple of times, you know, maybe you're, you're listening to this on your, your, your ride to work or, you know, maybe you're listening to this on your, your job or walking the dogs. So listen to a couple of times, cause we did cover a couple of things and as always tap into the other inner circles that are coming out, that are coming into the future and those in the past. I want to just say thank you for Toby black and Layla black and baby B and this is Lawrence Tam signing off. Thank you for listening to the inner circle with the power network.
Thanks. Peace.
