The REAL Value Of What We Do…

Packed hotel ballroom watching a speaker on the jumbo screen at Empower Network's 2012 Atlanta event

From the archive: originally published November 2011 on the Empower Network blog.

I’ve been meaning to write this article since the launch of The Empower Network, and would have…

…except that over the last 2 weeks, I’ve probably only slept four hours a night. If you were here with me, you might see some slightly dark circles under my eyes.

When I launched the Empower Network with Dave Sharpe, I was expecting it to grow fast…

…but not this fast.

We’ve had to hire 3 additional customer support people, move the server 2 times. And as of right now, we’re the highest trafficked site in the Network Marketing niche…

…in only 2 weeks.

The purpose of this article is to show people who don’t understand our business model why we’re growing so fast. And what the REAL value of our company is.

Why?

Because in growing as fast as we have, we’ve attracted a LOT of attention: both good, from fanatical people who are more excited than they’ve ever been in their life, AND from people who think we’re nothing but an excuse to pass money around.

As to the latter. Nothing could be further from the truth.

There’s a lot more here than meets the eye. But to really understand WHY it’s growing like it is, you’ve got to go back in time to why I originally had the idea in the first place, and what we’re really trying to do here.

How I had the idea

I started marketing online about 2 years ago, a little more. It was August of 2009, and I was homeless, living out of the mid-section of a 1996 Dodge Caravan, parking on different beaches every night on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii.

When I started my business, I had to make it happen. I was broke. And the little bit of money I could muster up came from my Mom, who has always believed in me, and lent me a few hundred bucks to get started.

After that, my wife Ashley got a job as a Hostess. And we moved into my Parents house in Fairbanks, Alaska so I could market online full time, while my wife raised the money that we needed to pay for marketing tools, and support the growth of my business.

I can tribute my entire success today to my wife, who worked tirelessly at a job she hated, and my Mom and Dad, who supported me even though they couldn’t figure out what the heck I was doing 🙂 Love you guys.

I took off fairly quickly. And within about 3 1/2 months I was earning in excess of $25,000 per month by selling a variety of affiliate tools, network marketing companies, and some of my own products.

In the process of marketing my business, I recruited thousands of people, built teams in excess of 7,000, became the #1 producer in three separate organizations, and was able to create an entirely unique business model (at the time) where I leveraged a blogging system to create an almost unlimited amount of traffic, leads, and relationships that there is no way it could have happened offline.

My other business still to this day has a blog that gets more than 3,000 unique visitors per day. And has MILLIONS of hits per month, even though I haven’t even gone to the website in over a month.

I built this business by creating and giving valuable content in the form of articles and videos. And creating a subscriber list of over 27,000 active people who read my content and emails regularly.

In other words: I’ve learned a unique skill that has created an ‘authority’ presence in my niche, by being very consistent at creating and giving valuable training and industry opinions, my results have been both extraordinary and staggering.

HOWEVER, in the process of building my business, I realized after about six months of trying to teach others how to do it, through both free and paid trainings, that there were elements of what I was doing that could not be replicated by an average person. Because there were technical and skill hurdles that would take months, even years to overcome.

This is the kind of thing I teach in The Daily Shortcut: one short episode a day, free. Send Me Episode One →

For example, an 82 year old beautiful Grandma, no matter how much value she had to teach, just usually couldn’t get past the technical overwhelm of setting up a wordpress blog.

A 19 year old trying to make money online just couldn’t sell or communicate with the same skill and experience that I can through videos. Because they haven’t had enough pain in their life yet to relate with the masses.

Someone who was part time found themselves all evening trying to set things up, buying course after course. Trying to figure out language like ‘FTP’ and how to create a database in CPanel.

I realize that the reason that engines like Facebook and Twitter grow as fast as they do is because of their technical simplicity. So I had a unique idea while walking through the mountains behind my home…

…what if I can remove ALL of the technical overwhelm, creating a process that leveraged my skill AND the proven model that I’ve created of blogging for traffic, and leveraged the sales ability that I’ve developed through a life of hard knocks…

…and just gave it to people, for less than a tank of gas. And they could get started marketing, and when they made a sale, we could pay out 100% of the initial and upsell revenues to help them make money and build a back-end business like I have…

…and what if I could make it as simple as Facebook?

(we’ve got a bit to go on the simplicity level, but we’re getting there)

See, the Empower Network isn’t designed to be a Network Marketing business, and it’s not designed to replace anyone’s core business. It’s designed to give you the ability to leverage Dave Sharpe’s lead conversion and email skill, and my content, traffic and sales ability, and give you a process that converts, regardless of whether you understand the sales psychology in action or not.

We’re better together than we are apart. Let’s unify rather than divide.

We are here to Empower YOU.

We are the Empower Network.

What we have now is only a START to what we’re doing. Let’s lock arms, unify, and breathe a message of hope, simplicity, and inspiration into the business world that they have never seen.

Let’s do it.
