Luck Is The Product Of Design – Get To The Next Event

From the archive: originally published March 2013 on the Empower Network blog.

If you really want to have success, you’ve got to read, you’ve got to listen, and you’ve got to associate with people who are doing things that are larger than life, because if you want results, you’ve got to get around people that get results. One of the things that I do, really frequently actually, in addition with the masterminds that I do with people inside the Empower Network, is I get together with people that are good at things that I am not as good at. I get around people that have a dream that’s big. When you get around people that do things that seem extraordinary, you start to become extraordinary.” -David Wood

Understanding the Journey

A lot of people look at David Wood as an “Overnight Success.” In some ways, this is the complete truth, but of course every good story has a back story.

For years before he had the success that he did, David would fly around the country to attend events, oft times when it didn’t even make sense financially if someone were to look at it from the outside. Why? Well, a long time ago, some people that were having tons of success in the industry told him a simple truth:

You’ve got to get to the events. You will have your biggest breakthroughs when you get to the events.”

He listened. Even more than that, if you listen closely to what he said, you will realize that he does the exact thing that he is telling you to do on a regular basis.

Leaders practice the law of association. They get around other people that are having the success that they desire and they model them. We tell you to attend the events for a reason. We do what we ask you to do.

So Was David Wood An Overnight Success?

I have noticed through observation, and read in many books, that when success REALLY starts to pour in, it happens quickly, and so much of it hits so fast that it is hard to believe that it wasn’t always there in the first place.

In other words, virtually all success happens instantly when the circumstances are ready.

How does one find themselves in that circumstance? Well, you do the things that other successful people do until you find yourself in that magic moment where you are in the right place at the right time.

Those who do not choose success look on scoffing saying things like, “They just got lucky…”

…When in fact luck is the product of design.

Before success comes in any man’s life, he’s sure to meet with much temporary defeat and, perhaps some failures. When defeat overtakes a man, the easiest and the most logical thing to do is to quit. That’s exactly what the majority of men do.” -Napoleon Hill

Trying to think too logically has oft been the weight that brings down the dreams of man. Your imagination has the power to create your universe. That is why you need to get around big dreamers.

It is time to break the shackles of logic and to dream again. You are greater than you know, and within you lies the power to create.

Choose to dream.
