Since we want to help you make an informed decision, we've gone above and beyond with our income disclosure document.
If you want to see the average earnings, please visit the page at www.empowernetwork.com forward slash income dot php. You are listening to the Empower Network Inner Circle. The best way to get your daily audio training, which is one of the eight core commitments here with Empower Network. I have the pleasure of introducing the spiky hair Asian man who crossed 100k in a month and one of your million dollar ring earners in Empower Network. Training you today, Lawrence Tam.
I'm from the future. No seriously, I'm from the future. So if your future self teleported or traveled through time to talk to you, would you believe him or her? Hey, my name is Lawrence Tam and I was just wanting to, let's think about this really interesting thing about the future. Can you convince yourself to being a different person if you told yourself?
Now while I was thinking this, I had a discussion on Facebook with a gentleman and he had this very interesting outlook about a very particular type of person or persons and those being wealthy people. He had the idea that all successful rich people were actually awful people. They don't help people, they're self-absorbed, they only care about themselves, they only spend money on themselves. They're basically a drain on society because they don't help the low person and so that kind of got me thinking. Do you think like that?
Now this is a pretty important, very important subject matter because here it's like this. If you have a poor or sick relationship with money, what happens when you get it? And so this inner circle that you're listening to by Empower Network, my name is Lawrence Tam, I'm your host, this inner circle is don't hate yourself in the future. And if you read that, you're thinking who would hate themselves in the future, right? It makes no sense.
But you would think that's common sense but it's actually not because it's kind of funny. The person who I was talking to that was saying that, I'm wondering are there more people like that and if there are, that type of mindset needs to be altered, changed and washed basically, ASAP, especially if you are in business. See here's the deal. If you have a deep-seated feeling that rich people are evil and you're in business to make money, maybe it's not money for you, maybe it's you generating money for charity but if you have a deep-seated, sick relationship with making money, how are you supposed to succeed because your body is then going to protect itself from the things it dislikes or things that you dislike. If you dislike making money, that could be one of the reasons why you don't like to sell because the equation goes, if you sell something, things are being sold all the time but then the transaction doesn't go through until someone buys.
See that's the key and if your internal financial thermostat is so low that you would rather not sell something to protect yourself from making money, how are you supposed to build a business where businesses are based on transactions from those buying and those selling. So let's take it a little deeper. If you were in the future and you could tell yourself how you are financially, let's just go financially with that and let's say 30 years from now and in 30 years, you then had the ability to teleport in time to today, the day you listen to this inner circle, what do you think your future self would tell you? Do you think your future self would tell you, hey, money is the root of all evils or do you think your future self would say, you're going to be alright, you're going to go through some tough times but you're hungry, you want it bad enough, your why is strong enough, you are going to make it happen in this business, it's going to happen. Like what would you rather have, right?
What would happen, do you really think you're on the road to success in your business primarily looking at how you are today, are you on the right course? Because see, if you shot a rocket from earth to the moon, it actually makes a lot of minor trajectory changes. It's not a straight shot because the earth is moving, it's rotating, it's got to go at a certain angle, it's got to course correct and then go to the moon. Now with that, you have to get back on track. Are you on track or are you going the opposite way?
See here's the deal, if you feel, let's just say you don't actually express it or you don't say it out loud but internally, you dislike rich people and rich is actually a relative term. Rich being wealthy to your lifestyle. To some, that is the wildest dreams and I think that's a really good goal. So then it's 30,000. But you got to get to a point where do you feel icky or can you sense it that when people make a lot of money, do you feel happy for them or do you go, wow, they must have ripped somebody off or they must have cheated the system somehow.
You see what I'm saying? That's deep because the thing is if your relationship with money or wealthy people or let's just say people with money, they don't have to be wealthy but they just have money, it's the definition you put in your head, your association, your upbringing of how they are. And so if you're willing to accept that if you have flaws today but they can be fixed as long as you acknowledge it, you really don't want to hate yourself in the future because if you hate yourself in the future that you're successful, you're going to do everything in your power subconsciously to sabotage being successful. And I just want you to really dig down. You don't have to be a millionaire.
You could just be very well off. You could be the person who can buy organic foods anytime you want. You can treat friends out and you can fly anytime you want to and you can take vacations anytime you want to because you have true freedom. So in the process of growing into who you want to be, you need to clearly define are there things you don't want to be because let's just be real. What if you really don't want to be wealthy?
Is running a business, is working for yourself, is selling valuable products to people, maybe it's not about the money making. Maybe it's because you don't like people. Maybe that's the issue. And I'm not saying it can be fixed immediately but once you become aware of these issues, you can then read books. You can then attend seminars.
You can then listen to the Inner Circle audios. You can then dive in to who you are, who you want to be, who do you want to serve. I understand that some people just want to stay at home and have no outside contact whatsoever. And that's okay. That's okay.
But if your relationship with money is that you don't ever want to be rich, it's kind of interesting to see how you handle your money. And it's kind of like how lottery winners, there's a large percentage of them who didn't have money, won the lottery but then the lottery, the money didn't fix the problem. The problem really wasn't the money. The problem was the relationship with money and why so many lottery winners then become exactly back where they were or actually worse than because of all the debt they incurred. So you definitely want to grow into who you want to be.
So having a clear idea of who you want to be is a very good roadmap because if you want to be a successful family man, if you want to be a successful business owner, if you want to be a successful person who works from home, if you want to be a successful charitable company who donates a lot in charities, these are the things you need to focus on to know where you're going. But to know where you're going, remember to determine two points, point A and point B, you need to know where you're starting from. And being aware of where you are today, you have to be okay where you are today. Let's say you do realize you have a poor relationship with money or let's say you just don't like yourself because you're kind of depressed, that's okay for now. The goal is you always make progress, it's okay to be where you are today, you just need to not be okay to be there again or to be there at a long duration.
Your goal is to get out of it, your goal is to grow and that's the difference between unsuccessful people and successful people. Successful people never really hit a mark where they're satisfied, they're always growing. And so that's why when you see ultra wealthy or even wealthy people continue to grow their wealth and then you have people who don't have a high self-esteem, who have money issues, they see people who are always constantly growing self-development, they're always reading, they're always growing their mind when someone who's content. These two different types of people, which one do you want to be? Do you want to be the person who doesn't grow, who's just content to where you are so that when you see someone who is growing, it's conflict, it's not who you are, it's not the opposites attract, it's like the opposites repel because what they're doing is benefiting society.
See to understand, in economics, if money doesn't move, what happens to money? It needs to move, it needs to change hands, it needs to go through businesses. Money isn't like vegetables and fruits. It needs to move to power the economy and so rich people really do help the economy when it moves money. So who do you want to be?
Do you want to be the person who's beneficial to everyone or be the person who's contained and within themselves and don't actually help the society, right? So one way to do that, one way to be where you are today, to go into where you want to be in the future, you need to work on yourself daily. Now you can work on yourself yearly, it just so happens you grow a lot slower. You need to work on yourself daily, mind, body and soul. Continue working on who you are, who you want to be, understanding your flaws, understanding your skills, understanding what you're good at, these are the things we can work on, right?
Let's say you're a really good writer but you're not good on video, we'll work on that. Let's say you're really bad speaking to people in person but you're really good at writing ad copy to them, that's awesome. Understanding where you are, how you can get to your next point which is maybe increasing your business, increasing your personal relationships with people, whatever it is, it's a form of going from point A to point B and here's the deal. You do this every single day and let's say one year from now, give or take. It could be 365 days, it could be one day, it could be 700 days, it's different for everybody.
But most of us, since we're so fixated on money, we're thinking the only way we can see results is if our income changes. Well, you know what? Your income might not reflect it today but people will see it, they will see the change. If you're constantly working on your mind, body and soul, people will see the change. An example being with my wife, she didn't understand why I kept buying these information products on marketing and why I kept pursuing working from home.
She was working as an accountant and she was just like, you know, all of our friends just have jobs, just get a better job. But I told her, I don't feel that this is my calling. I don't particularly enjoy it. I don't ever wake up at 5.30 in the morning and go, I can't wait to go to work. I went to work to get paid.
I didn't go to work because it filled anything in my soul. It didn't do anything for me. And so what I'm telling you is this, figure out what you want to do, go after it, start to build yourself and then even though income hasn't come in yet, you will notice people will look at you a little bit differently. Now what's crazy is sometimes they look at you a little crazily or crazy, right? They're asking, why do you read so many self-development books?
Why are you going to those seminars? Why are you working so late at night? I see you're active on Facebook, like you're physically writing or something. What is it? Why are you constantly being so uppity up and peppy and supportive to all these other strangers?
Like what makes you run? What makes you tick? And like my wife was seeing, she was seeing what I was doing, just my income wasn't going up. Like she was seeing that I was putting in some work and I was growing and I'll get people who've known me for years go, I can't believe you speak on stage. I go, I can't believe it either.
It just happens. I guess all those years of just programming my mind to speak who I am and who I wanted to be and you've heard that saying, that saying goes, fake it till you make it. I mean, I never faked I made a lot of money. I never faked I made money. All I faked was this is the person who I want to be.
I want to be the Lawrence Tam of 2014, not the Lawrence Tam of 2002, 2002 I had just been laid off and I was looking for a job in 2002 and I was unemployed for 18 months living on the government with unemployment insurance, hopefully not paying for COBRA because it was so dang expensive but I was hoping to be healthy enough to find a job so I don't break a leg or do something crazy. See, I didn't want to be the person who I was and I knew if I wanted to continue growing, I had to be the better person I am today. Now not to say I'm the best person, I'm just a better version of the 2002, 2003 or even 2000 when I graduated college figuring out what do I want to do with my life. I don't know, let's just go work to make some money. See I didn't know.
I didn't know that there's an easier way to generate funds and that easier way is to helping people. Like seriously, help more people, help people more. And so even though your income might not reflect it, people around you will see it. And so here's one way to grow on a daily basis with what you learn, with what you're digesting. You should be reading daily and why not blog daily?
See putting out and writing down what you're learning is a powerful, powerful way to really ingrain how you're changing as a person. Now some people do journals but I would recommend blogging it and the cool thing is you don't have to blog all of it. What I mean is you don't have to write an entire blog post in one day that's like 3,000 words that talks about your journey of how you discovered that you have a poor relationship with money. Whatever it is, if you're going through it, there's probably someone else who's going through it that would probably appreciate what you're writing. So why don't you just put some words down?
Maybe make it a live journal. Maybe make a blog post that might take five days, might take a week. It doesn't mean you only stay on that one blog post but let's say you're studying Facebook marketing, why don't you put 10 bullet points on Facebook marketing and build that. Whatever you learn, whatever you're digesting, regurgitate it by – if you can teach it, you really know it. And so here's the deal.
With all of this, you become a better person, you're starting to grow. You can't judge people. You can't hate on people who are happy where they're at. You can't hate on people who have no appreciation to what you've been going through and have no vision to go on with you to your next journey, to your next level. Some people are just stuck at their level.
Some people are just okay being okay, being average. Judging people doesn't fix that. So what you can do is you love on them. What you do is you share with what you know. What you do is you don't put them off by making them feel inferior.
Why don't you put a hand out so you can help them up? And not to say you're superior in any way. Everyone's journey is different. Everyone's goals are different. But you know deep down if your goal is to build a business, work from home, travel the world, do internet marketing, build businesses.
If this is what you want to do and make ridiculous money, more money than you can count in a day, it comes down to increasing your self-worth and your business within yourself. Because you are the business. And so when you have this better association of who you resemble, who you look up to, and maybe your association with money, your total package starts to transform. You could be that beat up car that started out in 2002. But in six months, you could be that same car but now it's nice and shiny.
And then six months after that, you've upgraded. See, it's the process of always upgrading yourself. And those who play video games, they get it. Those who play sports, organized sports too, they get it. It's the process of always getting better.
Now what's the point? You're never going to be the best. But you can be the best version of you. You can be the best version of who you are. You can be the best version of who people would like to see you.
I mean, you got to be a more friendly person, a better person to hang out with once you invest into yourself. And it just depends. I mean, do you want to be the same person you were? And if that person was better, well, what's changed? What's made you different?
Let's be the best person you can be. But better yet, don't hate the person you will become. Because if you're on this journey of self-development, you're on this journey of building a business, you're actually the weird one. You're actually the weird one who wants to make more money than most people make in a year. You want to make it in a month.
Why? Let's work 11 months and take one month off. One month off. That's the average way. But what if you were to work one month and take 11 months off?
People would tell you're crazy. It's not doable. But I'm telling you, if you run a successful business, why can't you? You just automate everything. You just scale out to the point you want to and delegate and maybe you just put a cap on what you make so you can then travel the world and do what you want to do.
But for me and from what I've seen, most successful people, especially in business, they don't want to take a whole bunch of time off because they just want to get better. And that's like for me. Just because I've made a lot of money in one month doesn't mean I want to stop. I want to see how much faster I can grow. I want to see how much bigger I can grow.
I want to see how many more people I can change in their life, how many more people I can help, how many people I can bring to them to realizing they're awesome. They just need to tap into who they are because you have to understand, the greatest gift, the greatest gift is that you were born. It wasn't a sure thing. I mean, think about it. There is no certainty that you should have been born.
There could have been a hundred different ways that you were never born. But once you take the fact that you are here on earth, you must have a purpose. And if your purpose is to help people, well, one way to help people, you got to get better. You have to add value so that you can add value into others. Read daily, man.
Go ahead and start blogging. Develop into yourself, your mind, your body, and your soul. And be the person you want to look into the mirror in six months, in three months. Have different goals. Have goals outside of just income because, I mean, if you think about it, income is just a number.
A lot of income just comes down to being the person that you can solve people's problems because it just might happen that you're an awesome person. You just don't have the right tools in place or you don't have the right systems in place to monetize. But once you're that person, the hard work is pretty much done. You just then got to invest in yourself to grow your income because yourself, your internal financial thermostat, you will meet it. You will start making what you are valued at.
And it just happens just because. It's just the way the universe works. I've seen it. And I've seen it the other way too. I've seen it where people make a ton of money but they never grew with the money.
They make bad buying decisions. They don't treat people good, fairly. And their income drops to what their internal financial thermostat is. So to get past that is you got to grow yourself. You have to invest in yourself.
You have to be the best person you can possibly be. So when the day comes when you hit that, you can take it to the next level. You can be even better. So thank you very much for listening to The Inner Circle. Go ahead and listen to the future Inner Circles.
And of course, download and stream the previous Inner Circles. I appreciate you for taking the time to listen to me. And maybe this voice, maybe this training could be the training you needed to envision who you wanted to be in the future and to not hate yourself. Love yourself. But love the person you would want to love.
Be the person you would want to be. And that starts today, knowing exactly who you are today so you can continue building to the future of who you will be, the greatest possible version of yourself that's always getting better. Thanks for listening. My name is Lawrence Tam. I appreciate you.
See you on the next one. Peace.
