What is determination?

The conventional definition of determination is the ability to follow through on your ideas or goals to completion.

However, my personal definition differs slightly. My definition of determination is as follows: The desire to maintain focus and manifest your goals.

With this new, more precise definition, we can easily see what it is that we need to cultivate in our way of thinking. We need to cultivate these three things:

1. Goals – You need to create goals to foster determination.

2. Focus – You need to maintain focus on your goals to foster determination.

3. Desire – You need to back your focus with a strong desire to foster determination.

In this post, I will describe how to cultivate these three traits. When you can properly maintain these three traits in your life, your determination to succeed will skyrocket.

Understanding Determination

Here are the three key points to utilize when seeking to master determination.

1. Goals

Goals are the beginning of all of your power. When you cultivate and set goals for yourself, you are creating a path for yourself to follow. Goals that are clear and concise as well as powerful and uplifting are the kind of goals that you need in your life. Without a goal that makes you feel great every day when you wake up, your level of determination will not be very high.

Write your goals down on paper. This helps to anchor it in your subconscious mind. If you want to boost this process, write your goals down every day. Doing this will greatly help you with your determination.

2. Focus

Once you have set clear and uplifting goals and you have written them down, you can now focus on focus (haha). When it comes to determination, focus is very important. Your uplifting goals are great… but without staying focused on them, you will drift from one interest to the next without the ability to hold true.

Whenever you feel like quitting, take a moment to center yourself and focus on your goals. Conjure up all of the wonderful emotions associated with achieving your goals. Practicing these things will greatly increase your determination.

3. Desire

Desire is the piece that most people trying to have determination don’t have. There are a few common reasons for this.

The first reason is because their goals suck. Who would have determination to achieve goals that they don’t even want for themselves? Having crappy goals happens when we listen to what society or other people want for us rather than we we want for ourselves. What we need to do is become aware of what it is that we truly want in life.

Another reason that you may have no desire for your goals is because you simply don’t know what true desire feels like.I know that this was the case for me. I spent so many years in a depressed state that I had completely forgotten what desire, focus, and determination felt like. If this is you, what you need to do is cultivate desire.

The easiest way to cultivate desire and determination is to find what it is that you truly want in life. Discovering what you truly want to do in life is generally not an easy thing to do. So, I suggest picking something to do that you know you can succeed at. Ride the success of this activity until it takes you to new places. You will eventually find what it is that you love to do in life, but it could take a while.

Determination + Subconscious Reshaping

Another way to cultivate desire and determination is through purposeful subconscious reshaping. Subconscious reshaping is essentially a gigantic shortcut. All you need is an idea of what you want for yourself, and you can get to work within an hour. You can have programs running while you are on the computer, audio while you are in the car, and audio while you sleep.

As with just about everything in the self development field, we can and should make an abundant use of our subconscious mind. There are many ways to influence your subconscious mind to increase your own determination. My favorite ways to increase my determination are with affirmations, uplifting subconscious videos, and sleep therapy.

Check out my post, How I Cured My Depression. In that post, I give many details about how the subconscious mind works and how to best influence it to your benefit. If you don’t figure out how to become ‘one-minded’, you are simply spinning your wheels when it comes to self development and determination.

Aligning your subconscious mind with your conscious mind is absolutely essential and you cannot succeed in the long term without doing so. I will be posting an article soon about what I have been up to lately in this field of interest.

Determination Is The Miracle Key To Success

With core determination in your life, you will succeed in all of your efforts. Determination is the determining factor in whether or not you become who you want to be in life. This is why I call determination the miracle key to success.

Determination determines whether you are part of the 1% or the 99%. The 1% are the people that are so determined to get what they want in life, that they actually DO get what they want in life. These are the people with financial abundance, sexual abundance, and happiness that is virtually unmatched. Many of these people have a life that is almost like a dream. Their lives are filled with miracles on a daily basis.

The 99% are the people who have no determination. They also generally have no substantial goals for themselves. These people set flimsy goals (if at all) and give up at the earliest opportunity. They spend their hard-earned free time trying to escape – they watch TV, play video games, or talk on the phone constantly. They have very little desire and they focus their energy on all of the things they don’t want in life.

Why? They left all these important life decisions to ‘other people’ …And guess what? Other people didn’t have much planned for them, so they aren’t going anywhere in life …and by that I mean they aren’t becoming anything in life.

Of course, not everyone wants to live a spectacular life, I understand that. But I think if most people took the risk and gave it even an ounce of thought, they could make one of the biggest decisions in their lives.

What’s neat about being part of the 1% is that it does make you special. You DO stand out! Who doesn’t want to be special?

The truth is, everyone is special. Of course! But when you join the 1% from a mental perspective, you hold yourself to higher standards, and you become the bigger person because of this.

Conclusion On Determination

Just follow the three steps I outlined. These steps will serve you now and in the future. Remember, all you need to do is set this system up once in your subconscious mind. As long as you don’t try to change this new belief, you will have this mental conditioning for determination for the rest of your life.
