Expect Delays Mr. Internet Entrepreneur

As my husband works at home as a hydrology consultant, I also work at home as an Internet Entrepreneur. It’s awesome that we can both build our respective businesses without having to commute anywhere, or answer to anybody but ourselves.

Most days are rewarding and fulfilling, but they are not all perfect. Here’s this week’s saga.

Internet Entrepreneur’s Husband Challenges

This subheading doesn’t mean I have challenges with my husband:), I wanted to share a story about some business challenges he experienced this week.

He ordered some specialized instrumentation so he could measure a river for a new dam project. The package came and he got all set up to test the equipment, but found it wasn’t really working properly.

A quick phone call determined he was missing a cable that should have been shipped with the instrument. He got the parcel by courier the next day.

The equipment still didn’t work. Another phone call uncovered that he needed another antennae, that also should have been in the box. He is now out shopping for that antenna, because he can’t afford another day of waiting for another courier.

Through no errors of his own, his troubleshooting just uncovered incompetence in others, and it affected his job.

He had to call his customer to postpone his field trip until he gets the equipment sorted out.

Internet Entrepreneur Needs to Be Patient

My week had run a similar course, so that’s why this blog story made sense to me. All my experiences were online, but an exercise in frustration none the less.

This blogging platform I use with Empower Network had some server issues, so it’s been difficult to post my blogs this week. I try to get them into the WordPress system, but it keeps knocking me out.

So, I just keep saving drafts, trying again, and if I’m kicked out again, I just go work on something else.

I have a process of what to do once my blog is posted – a series of activities to distribute my article, but it is all delayed until my blog goes live.

My routine is disrupted.

I then went into another system I work on (you can’t keep all your eggs in one basket), and was trying to get some commission issues sorted out. I couldn’t get a hold of anybody live, so had to leave a support ticket, which didn’t get answered until this morning.

Another delay.

When updating Go Daddy with some domain names I am forwarding for a different project, their system indicated I’d have to wait 24 to 48 hours for changes to take place.

More of the waiting game.

Internet Entrepreneur Goes to Starbucks

Instead of beating my head against the wall waiting on other people to catch up with me, I decided a coffee shop outing was in order.

I ordered a tea latte, sat down and caught up on some record keeping, and went through a couple of training videos.

I finally felt like I’d accomplished something for the day.

So, you see, life isn’t always rosy and perfect, even if you work at home, but with some patience, perseverance and refocusing, you can still have a fulfilling day.
