As someone who is from London originally, and about a 20 minute drive from the Olympic Site, I really loved the opening ceremony.
I thought it was very personal and loved how it told the story of Britain’s past ( granted it left out the bad stuff but well, it is the Olympics).
And as the past few days have come and gone, it has been great watching the athletes that are at the very stop of their game compete for the greatest prize of all, an Olympic gold medal.
All the sweet and tears boils down to one moment. Glory or failure. And then another 4 whole years, maybe, to have another shot.
Can you imagine how hard that must be if they fail? 4 more years! Such a long time.
In our industry, we are luckier.
We do not need to wait for 4 years to have chance of success. But I ask you the question…Are you going for gold?
You should be. Because YOU have a chance to do so very single day!

You also do not need to compete with top athletes every single time you do business.
There is no gold, silver or bronze.
There is no podium.
In fact, I would go so far as to say that you only have ONE competitor! Yourself.
And you are the strongest competitor you could ever wish to face. And here is why!
‘You will never be able to do it’.
‘You do not have what it takes’.
‘You can’t’.
‘Are you going for gold? Really? What a waste of time…get a real job’.
You get the picture. The voice in your head are the competition.

So you are warming up. Stretching. Limbering up.
Some of you maybe in the blocks waiting for the starter’s gun.
But that gun does not go off.
So you wait…and wait…waiti for the right time.
And money does not get deposited into your back account.
Are you going for gold? NO. You are waiting for gold to come to you.
But Gold will not come to you. You gotta go get it.

Look at the image of the Olympic flame.
Beautiful, stunning.
That flame will keep on burning throughout the games.
Is your business on fire?
Well if you are going for gold, nothing will be able to put it out. And it won’t be put out after 4 weeks.

With all the product launches these days, it is easy to lose your focus.
To take your eye off the prize.
Are you going for gold? If you are, you need to have unbreakable focus.
Stick to the goal.
Do not get side tracked. The top athletes are not involved in 5 different sports.
I will see you at the winners ceremony…..but there will be no silvers or bronzes.
