Morning Ritual-Very Important!

Morning Ritual

Are you cranky when you get up in the morning?

Not a morning person?

Well, if you are a business person, this may be a bad thing and something you want to remedy.

What you really want to do is to start the day right as this sets the context for the rest of the day. You should use the start of the day to feel great and leverage this feeling to continue on.

Start the day off with a healthy meal and the right mindset, and you are more likely to continue in the same way.

I mean, have a healthy snack in the morning first thing, and psychologically, you are less likely to eat junk later as you do not want to ‘spoil’ a good start.

It works conversely of course.

So…you need a ‘Morning ritual‘ and you need to do it everyday…hence the term ritual :)

The Importance of a Morning Ritual

Here is a morning ritual that I have just started.

Why did I start?

I believe that it will help me become more successful in my business, as well as increase my overall health.

Step 1

Wake up. I now wake up at 6AM. 530 would probably be better, but for now 6AM.

I then brush and floss my teeth first before drinking anything to make sure I do not gulp down the gunk that may have built up during the night.

Step 2

Drink water. Not tea, not coffee, not a sports drink or a health shake. Water!!  I have heard that half your body weight is the best. And all that popping to the bathroom will also help to naturally cleanse your system.

Step 3

Brisk Exercise. Right now in Japan, the humidity is terrible so early morning has the added benefit of being a bit cooler. I like to go for a brisk 30 minute walk.

This speeds up your metabolism and gives you more energy for the day, despite what you may think.

Jogging is fine if you prefer.

If it is raining, you can always stretch or work out at home if possible.

And double your productivity by listening to some motivational stuff on your MP3 or iPhone.

Step 4

Take a shower and have a healthy breakfast. I always have an Acai berry shake (home-made…not from any form of company).

I mix freeze-dried acai berries, non-fat milk, a little honey and a banana. I often have a slice of toast too. I also take my Protandim supplement here.

Step 5

Get dressed and ready for the day. Always look good if you can in case you need to make a video.

Willpower

We are all human and this can be tough at first.

And it is very easy to forget these steps, especially when you first begin your morning ritual.

So a few things you cn do is to put post it notes around the house at first….or make sure you have the water in the fridge the night before so it is there and ready.

There will be resistance! You will want to sleep more. You will not want to go for a walk, especially in the Winter. But stick to your morning ritual and it will get easier.

So there you have it, your morning ritual.

You may want to alter it to suit you, but the basics should be kept the same.
