Progress, Belief, and RUTHLESS Income Creation

From the archive: originally published July 2012 on the Empower Network blog.
Let’s talk about the power of belief.
I just got done reading a book called ‘Blink’ by Malcom Gladwell (author of ‘The Tipping Point’).
Basically, the book is about how your automatic, unconscious knowledge can pull together unbelievable resources in the ‘blink’ of an eye…
…while it wasn’t my favorite book by any means, it pointed out some absolutely fascinating things about beliefs, and how they control outcomes – completely outside of your awareness.
For example, one affiliate at Empower Network believes that getting 2 customers a day on the blogging system is easy – another believes it’s a lot of ‘hard work’.
There doesn’t have to be any reason for the beliefs – or any ‘actual’ truth in them. The person who believes that it’s easy might sign 2 people up without any phone calls, any convincing of any kind, or any hard selling – all well goofing off, making silly videos.
The person who believes it’s ‘hard work’ will create extra work, that didn’t exist, be eight times as busy, and if they EVER are about to get an ‘automatic signup’ they’ll pull together all the power in heaven and earth to make it as difficult as possible.
How do I know? Simple.
I’ve sponsored 2 people per day, into multiple network marketing companies, in multiple languages, with different kinds of products, at different price points…
…in less than 30 minutes a day – and I’ve done it for 3 years straight.
Now, don’t get me wrong – in the beginning, I worked my ass off, to make up for with sheer RUTHLESSNESS what I lacked in money.
After I had money, though – I realized that if you’re efficient and outsource, it’s actually quite difficult to work more than 2 hours a day with real income producing activities.
(that is, if we don’t weanie out on freedom and start taking 150 calls a day)
Three MASSIVE hurdles
There’s three MASSIVE hurdles to overcome, though, to actually make this business easy.
- You have to BELIEVE that it’s easy. If it’s not easy right now, it’s because you don’t believe that it is. Period. We had an explosion after the event in Atlanta in people signing up 2 people a day. Why? More people believe that it’s easy – so for them, it is.
- You have to know what to do. This is a ‘loose framework’. Really, you don’t have to know, you have to work your ass off until you know. The trick here is actually keeping this as simple as it is. Focus on leads and follow up. Get more leads, and follow up more until you’re getting 2 people to signup a day. Really, that’s it.
- You have to do it. I can’t tell you how many folk I’ve talked with in the last 3 years, that SWEAR that they’re working hard, and in a 30 minute conversation I can’t find a single thing that they’ve actually done to generate income. They avoid everything, and take all day to do it.
‘Easy’ doesn’t mean ‘free of pain’. It’s like the gym – I feel sore all over my body right now.
Why?
I let my body get ‘weanie’ and now I have a personal trainer. In a month, I’ll stop getting sore, and going to the gym 6 days a week will be easy.
But…
…I believe that it’s easy now.
Why? Because in martial arts, I learned to embrace pain.
