By Michelangelo Lopez

Deleting a social account with thousands of followers because a company demanded a copy of your licence is a decision most marketers would never make. Michelangelo Lopez made it, then wrote the post explaining why, and the anger in it has not been tidied up for anyone's comfort.

His argument goes further than privacy. He objects to a platform behaving as though it owns the register of who exists, and he is willing to give up the audience he built rather than agree to that premise. Marketers who quietly resent the same thing will find the position argued rather than merely felt.

Only a handful of posts exist beyond that one. He debunks the idea that chiropractic works by placebo, and he passes along a clicker training method for getting a dog onto a skateboard, which he cheerfully admits his own two dogs are too lazy to try.

The dog piece amuses and the chiropractic piece informs, but the Facebook post is why anyone should stop here. Read it before you build your next audience on rented ground.
