Social Media?

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

Hi, this is Lina. Are you aware that the growing of Social Media started during economy recession? There is a reason for that…

Social media isn’t new (You may be thinking that I’m out of my mind while writing this post now, but you can check web 2.0)…

It’s just the same vehicle in a new package with global exposure. Also marketers need a FREE vehicle to give to the masses to promote online, and social media is the latest “FREE package”…

Big corporations have spent millions in social media advertising, but the real fact is that the revenue coming from social media is a minimum percentage compared to the total revenue, and all the money invested in social media also justifies shareholder’s review…

That percentage earned means nothing to these big corporations, and some even have claimed as a lost, but it looks very good for online marketers to show those numbers, and sell you their products to “bust conversions using social media”…

What doesn’t make sense is comparing your advertising budget with those corporations, and think that you are going to get those results by having thousands of “likes”, connections, and followers…

Don’t misunderstand my point. You can build a good profile and also buy ads in any of 6 big social media platforms, and get leads and sales…

I personally made a 100% full profile, keyword enriched in LinkedIn, and I get some conversions and sales, but I spend only 1 hour a week in LinkedIn. That’s it…

Social media is not the best vehicle to grow your business. In fact, nothing had replaced the results of a good phone call…

You will get better results if you drive traffic straight to your own website, affiliate link, or blog instead of spending your time trying to “connect” with people in social media platforms…

If you have something to sell online, do it in a place you can control and track. Can you do it with social media?
