My Wife loves shoes so she wrote this!
In my humble opinion you can’t beat buying a great pair of shoes. Some people think that the first thing you notice about someone is their eyes but a lot of the time about me, people notice my shoes. I hope that don’t mean my eyes are dodgy lol.
Whether it’s a high heeled pair of shoes, dainty flats or sparkling trainers, people have always commented on my shoes. Working in a university adds to the fan club of my shoes as so many students say to me “wow I love your shoes where did you get them from”. A lot of the time the shoes that really appeals to the public are the ones I hardly paid anything for.
I always tend to find a bargain and if there is a particular type of shoe I am trying to find I will search on the internet to find the best price or the best version. At the moment I am trying to find a studded heel back shoe with a heel height of no more than 4 inches but I am struggling.
The funny thing is that when I was 17 and because I am only 5 ft 3 I felt the need to wear high shoes where primarily my heel height was 5 inches constantly. In those days you struggled to find high platform heels as they weren’t really in fashion. However, now it seems that the higher the heel, the better the shoe. You can’t really find a good mid heel shoe, it’s either a kitten heel of 2 inches which is of no good to me or the heel height is well over 6 inches. I’ve seen no end of shoes that are around 6 inches that are studded and exactly what I want but I can’t really totter around in the office wearing 6 inch heels. Well I could but totter would be the operative word as I would walk like I have wet my pants.
An ideal height is 3.5 to 4 inches which would be perfect. I have got a pale pink/nude colour pair which is about that height where the heel is studded which I brought about 2 years ago so I have enjoyed wearing them lately. However as the autumn/winter weather is approaching us fast I will be wanting to wear thick black lycra tights so wearing nude colour shoes with black tights won’t look too good.
TK Max are an amazing place to find shoes that are different, well priced and in the current trend. I recently brought a pair of animal print laced up shoes which I have yet to wear but I know once I do wear them at work my colleagues and friends will notice them and will hopefully love them. Mind you I always wear shoes for myself and no one else. My other half doesn’t really like high heels and thinks that the higher the heel, the sillier the person walks in them but I’ll wear the heel height I think appropriate. I will wear up to 5 inches on a night out but I am tending to stick to no more than 4 inches for work.
New Look is amazing for shoes too as their range is enormous but you have to find a store that offers their full range. Their website is very easy to use and contains all the shoes they have on offer but sometimes you don’t know how much you will love a shoe until you see it. A lot of their shoes do focus on more than 5 inches which is fine for a night out but will look a little bit ‘out of place’ in the office although there is no better look than smart office wear (blouse and pencil skirt) and heels!
I never used to wear flats shoes at all but then I went on holiday to Disney World, Florida and because of the large scale park areas I had no option but to wear flat shoes, unless I wanted very sore feet. So I brought a cheap pair of 1 inch flip flops from a Walmart for about 5 dollars. They were very comfortable and got me used to walking in flat shoes. I now wear trainers walking to work and then bring some heels with me to wear for whilst I am at work. It does do your legs in slightly in that your muscles are at different positions wearing the flats and then wearing the heels but it means I can walk sensibly and quickly in my trainers rather than trying to attempt the pavements (which are never even and without pot holes of some description) in high heels.
Even my wedding shoes got grasps from my family and friends. They were about 5 inches and had a clear heel and were clear all over with red love hearts all over. This matched the theme for my wedding and although my wedding dress was long and you couldn’t see the shoes I made sure I flashed them to the right people who were amazed at my choice of wedding shoe. They were actually a very good bargain and only cost around 20 pounds from America.
So the moral of the story is, shop around and wear what ever shoe suits you.
