Knee High Boots

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

My wife is obsessed with shoes and here is what she has to say about boots.

Who has managed to find a pair of knee high boots that fit great around your legs, particularly the calves, and what are fashionable and comfortable.

I haven’t got the biggest legs around but for some reason I struggle to find knee high boots that fit around my calves. There are certainly a lot of ladies out there who wear boots so it’s bizarre how they can find boots that fit them and look good, when I can’t and I am below the average woman’s size (10-12).

A perfect pair of boots would cost under £20, would be leather, would have a wedge heel of around 3 inches, would be round toed and would be able to stretch to fit most leg sizes, unless you are obese. In reality, finding a pair of boots that match these requirements is a joke.

There are gorgeous boots out there in all the shops, TK Max, Mr Shoes, Top Shop, but most of these styles cater for ladies who have skinny legs. As soon as I put my foot in a boot I am trying on in a shop I just know instantly if it’s going to fit or not. Sometimes the boot won’t even do up over my lower calf and I just feel it’s a joke as everyone says I have slim legs so to not be able to do up boots over my “so called slim” lower calf is a joke.

Sometimes when I do manage to get a pair of boots to do over my legs it leaves a mark on my legs as if the boots were too tight. So I can’t win, the boots are either too tight and I can’t even fit them on my legs or if I can do the leg of the boot up, it leaves a mark on my leg. What a joke hey.

People have put me in contact with the brand Evans who deals with the larger lady but then their boots are way too big for me. So I’m in between of skinny ladies with no shape to their leg and the larger ladies who struggle to get boots to fit them and have no option but to shop at Evans all the time.

However there is a new online shop called everything5pounds.com who will shop outside of the UK and they sell coats, shoes, boots, dresses, tops for £5 each. Their boots are amazing value and even though they are knee length and fashionable they are all just £5 each. So you can’t argue with such a price. The two pairs of boots that I have purchased from www.everything5pounds.com have fitted quite well so I have found somewhere which caters for my unusual leg shape (it seems) but it’s not as if they sell a huge range of boots so I struggle to find a style of boots that I like and want to buy. Although how can you moan at just a mere £5 for each pair of boots. They have even sold thigh high boots for £5 each. That is amazing value. So for all you other ladies with funny shaped legs or legs that don’t fit the norm, head towards www.everything5pounds.com.
