7 Great Lies of Network Marketing by Ann Sieg

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

The “7 Great Lies of Network Marketing“, published in 2006 and written by Ann Sieg, is a 35 page eBook that can be downloaded and viewed on any computer or mobile device that has a .PDF reader. This eBook exposes the 7 most difficult and widespread challenges that people encounter while trying to build a profitable network marketing business quickly.

The eBook is free, but you are asked to give  your name and email to get a copy of it. That’s the main objective of the eBook, to generate leads and funnel them into Ann’s Renegade Marketing system. There is nothing wrong with that, and this is a very common practice; besides that the eBook does open your eyes up to some of the prevailing myths going on in the network marketing business.

Content Covered within the “7 Great Lies of Network Marketing”

Lie 1: Everybody is your prospect!

Lie 2: This really isn’t about sales. We just share products with people.

Lie 3: Any person can do this!

Lie 4: We will build your business for you.

Lie 5: We have the best products ever!

Lie 6: You just don’t have enough belief!

Lie 7: This is a foolproof system to get results

The best promoters sell the sizzle not the steak when it comes to promoting any product, service, or business opportunity. This means that if they told the actual truth about what is really required to develop a lucrative network marketing business or opportunity, then they wouldn’t have very many people to join their teams. The reality is this: it takes more then just a little time, lots of hard work and effort, and a significant monetary investment to build a profitable business of any kind; particularly a network marketing business.

Most Important Take-Away of Ann’s “7 Great Lies of Network Marketing”

Here is the most important thing to get out of Ann’s “7 Great Lies of Network Marketing“. Learn the process used to promote the eBook, capture the contact information of your leads, and then follow up with them in order to “back end” your prospects into buying whatever products, services, or business opportunities you are offering.

Mike Dillard actually popularized this method a few years ahead of Ann’s “7 Great Lies of Network Marketing”. This method is referred to as a “funded proposal” or “attraction marketing“, and Ann’s system is a great example of attraction marketing in action. It works, and this is evident by how more and more people and businesses are using attraction marketing today; and by how popular Ann Sieg’s eBook has become.

The Attraction Marketing Model

In a nutshell, the strategy to building a profitable network marketing business is to get your product, service, or business opportunity in front of at least 2 new prospects each and every day; minimum.

If you really want to move your business to the next level then you’ll need to expose it to at least 100 new people each and every day.

The real question is this: How are you going to make it happen?

You may already have a long list of friends and family that you can contact about your product, service, or business opportunity; but understand this, eventually you and all the people on your team will run out of friends and family to talk to. Once this happens, then what? This is when you have to break down and learn the art and science of sales, marketing, and lead generation.
