This morning while in the bath, I felt inspired to watch Fight Club (on bluray!). I haven’t watched it for ages. Have you ever seen it?
It’s a film about a man who has insomnia. He’s never really awake and he’s never really asleep. This is basically his life. He’s not really living and he’s not dead.
He’s existing.
Now. I’m not gonna go any further….I don’t want to spoil it completely for you.
Go and watch it if you haven’t.
Quick word of warning it is definitely not for the faint hearted.
Okay, I am gonna go a bit further.

Fight Club is a film about the plight of men in the post-modern world. It’s about where we fit in. Who we are and what it means to be a man.
See many of us men are lost.
Lost to depression.
Lost to alcoholism.
Lost to drug abuse.
Lost to pornography addiction.
Lost to living out our fantasies in computer games.
We don’t know what it means to be male anymore. We live in a confused world.
One thing, men (and women) have been told, is to live you have to accumulate ‘stuff’. The more ‘stuff’ you get the better/happier and sexier you will be.
The problem comes when this doesn’t work. What then?
We’ve all been told to get in touch with our feminine side, so much we have become women with male genitalia.

The identity of man has been lost.
What can we do about this?
One thing I feel many of us need to do is get back control of our lives. Start making decisions. Start becoming proactive. Start to fight back against the things that hold us down. The addictions etc.
Don’t like your life?
Change it. Start to become the man you can be.
One of the things I did was to start my own online business.
Something I can call my own. Something that I can create. Something that I can take pride in.
