Over the past 3 years, undergoing a complete life change and unplugging from our 9-5 jobs and completely designing a life living abroad in Costa Rica, we definitely discovered that as entrepreneurs, we needed to stay on top of our productivity game. Through our journey we have discovered some secrets and thus, we bring you the ultimate lifestyle design hacks that will help you dramatically increase your productivity.

Your Morning Routine will Make or Break Your Day.

The most important thing you can do to dramatically increase your productivity in your day all comes down to your morning routine and habits. When you master your morning routine and choose these 3 things to implement for at least 21 days, then you will have set habits that will keep you focused and productive for the rest of your day.

  1. DO NOT Check Your Email, Facebook, Laptop, Phone or any other Electronic Device Upon Waking.

Yes, the first hack is a “do not do this” hack BECAUSE it is so important! I don’t know about you, but upon waking, it’s just so easy to roll over and grab for that phone and just do a ‘quick check’ to see what’s up on the internets.

Do NOT do this – depending on how addicted you are to “checking”, this may have to be a very conscious effort at first but trust me, it is worth it!
Also, do not do this before falling asleep.

Literally, what we focus on expands – and getting sucked into what’s going on online can send your brain into a stream of thought that before you know it, can turn your whole day into an unfocused thought process, amongst other things.

When you have a clear mind, and have given yourself time in the morning to focus on you – then when the time comes to sit down and do your work, you will get a lot more done.

  2. Start Your Day with Gratitude

Again, what we focus on expands and the best way to start your day right is to focus on all that you are grateful for.

Feeling appreciative and grateful every morning will spill over into the rest of your day and will also allow you to start with peace of mind and will also cause your brain to start seeing and looking for more things to be grateful for.

You can get a journal and write out a list of 3-5 things every morning that you are grateful for.

  3. Energize Your Body & Mind

Take at least 10-15 minutes every morning to breathe (whether you want to do this as a meditation or not is up to you) and move your body.

I do about 15 minutes of Chi-Kung in the morning because it helps me to feel strong, makes me aware of my breathing and gets my body moving and energized which helps me to focus more for the rest of the day.

Whether you do some stretching, yoga, go for a walk or any activity which you enjoy – remember to also focus on your breathing and get your body moving to increase the flow of energy.

These are hacks that I live by – and if I ever stray and find myself getting unfocused, I always know why and know which habits to stick to!
Hope you enjoyed reading this – and let me know in the comments – do you already do any of these? And are there any you would add that help YOU be more productive in your day?
