So you are using Google’s Free Keyword Search Tool and you want to make it easier on you to do simple keyword research. On the left side of the screen is a section labelled ‘Match Types’. Make sure that the box for ‘Broad’ and ‘Exact’ are checked. This will give you 2 outcomes. The ‘Broad’ shows the amount of searches with this particular word within it and the ‘Exact’ will show the amount of searches with this EXACT word placement. This becomes incredibly important when becoming the keyword czar that you are destined to become. Along with your specific keyword results Google will also give you a number of alternative choices. This is where you can spend you day researching because these alternate choices will get your mind thinking. I have additional blog posts about the search volume you want to be targeting when looking at whether or not you want to use certain keywords. These search volumes are based on a monthly usage. As a rule of thumb I like it best when my ‘Broad’ results start at a minimum 2,400 and my ‘Exact’ results start at 1,000 but this is all just personal choice. If I find a broad term and it has 30,000 people searching for it and I have 590 ‘exact’ people searching for it I figure that it is popular in nature and that 590 gives me the opportunity of 20 people a day searching for a term I am trying to optimize for.
