Internet Entrepreneur Experiences Good Stress

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

As an Internet Entrepreneur it is vital that I read on a regular basis. I’m presently going through The 4-Hour Workweek, by Timothy Ferris. I learn something innovative each day, and on every page.

In my reading today, I learned a priceless word – eustress. It means a good form of stress.

Eu is Greek for happy, good, pleasing, well, normal.

Eustress = great stress!

Think about when you try to to go past your limits. You’re doing physical training, taking controllable chances, and learning. That kind of stress can be wholesome and stimulation for your development.

Now if you are still slaving away for someone else in the corporate world, you likely have a lot of undesirable stress.

If you work as an Internet Entrepreneur and function solely for yourself, you can do well on the good kind of stress, or eustress.

Think of it this way.

Internet Entrepreneur Despises Industrial Stress

I slaved for years in the corporate world and had incredible stress. Pressure from bosses, ridiculous deadlines, fear of lay offs. Back in the ‚’90s, when I organized trade shows and big sales conferences, I worked 60 to 80 hour weeks, and I wasn’t even an executive. What a fool, I was.

I had no time for my friends. I was too exhausted to do anything physical or fun. And, I wasn’t making piles of cash. I was only making money for someone else.
How stupid is that?

I had to ask myself…

Why am I doing this?
Why do I have to have this kind of stress in my life?
Why can’t I just run away.

Do you ponder these problems?

Favorable Stress for the Internet Entrepreneur

When you have your own business, especially an on-line business, you do have a healthier kind of stress. It’s unlike in a physical type business where you have to worry about employees, the lease, the bathroom, the furnace or zoning regulations, and travelling to get there.

An Internet Entrepreneur has eustress, or that good-for-you kind of stress because you want to succeed. You want to accomplish things. You want to learn new things.

And, you get to do it all for you, or you and your family, and not some big, hot shot, executive or corporation.

As an internet entrepreneur, you will have challenges daily, whether you have writers block, or technological break downs, or whatever it is, but they are not really stresses, they are eustresses.

Oh, and you get to do it all from the coziness of your home. No terrible commuting stress, either.

Internet Entrepreneurs Read

To be a successful internet entrepreneur, you have to read daily. You have to be taught things that you can share with others through your content marketing efforts, just as I have done with this post.

I highly endorse Tim Ferris’ book. It has changed many lives. You will learn how to join the New Rich, as Ferris calls us. It’s a totally different concept on how to make money, how to spend that money, and how to live within your means, without having to be a kajillionaire.

You have to read The 4-Hour Workweek, instead of working like a dog for 30 years, and saving money so you can live when you retire. Well, what if you don’t make it to retirement?

Final Thoughts

I like the word eustress. As I said before, it is all about good stress. It’s about doing things that give you a feeling of fulfillment and other constructive feelings. Eustress is a method of seeking potential gains.

Now, doesn’t that kind of stress sound like a thing worth trying?

Exchange your painful, industrial stress for some Internet Entrepreneur wholesome stress, and here’s how you can get there.
