We Made it to Mexico late yesterday afternoon in time to catch the sunset from our balcony at Now Amber Resort in Puerto Vallarta. Someday technology will find a way to get us to our destination considerably quicker and with more comfort but for the time being the trip consumes an entire day. So we had time for a few cocktails and a light dinner before retiring for the evening.
Now its a new day and we are fresh and relaxed. We are enjoying sunlight, warm temps, sandy beaches, open expanses of water and mountains. Turquoise pools dot the landscape 11 stories below where I sit. Pools with random swimmers, mexican music, palm trees and beach vendors hawking their wares are all a part of Now for us.
Amber Now so far is an amazing resort. We were greeted prior to even entering the hotel by a young man with cool, moist, scented cloths, to cool the hot and travel weary. Next we were given champagne again before even entering the hotel. As we approached the check in desk we were promptly greeted and check-in was also painless. We walked away from the desk and I quickly realized that the concierge had forgotten to give us our identification bracelets. Just one question later to find no plastic bracelet is required in this resort.
A quick ride to the 11th floor and we were off in search of our room.. The second surprise was that the doors were not numbered,. also quite unusual. We found our room using deductive reasoning really just simple math. Next we searched for the card slot to amazingly find no slot and used new tap technology for the first time, I knew it existed but had never used it in the states and certainly did not expect it in Mexico.
As we opened the door to our ocean view suite we were dazzled by the plush accommodations. King size bed, Massive wall mounted flat screen TV, jacuzzi tub, separate closed door to the toilet, large glass doored shower, all in all the best of the best.
Each interaction that we have at this resort has set the bar at a new level. Employees are very gracious, the bar serves only top shelf liquor, the bathrooms do not have paper towels. they have individual clothes that you throw in a hamper after using. Slippers and robe were laid out on the bed when entering the room.
I continue this several days later and still no complaints. Every single interaction has been fabulous, the staff continues to dazzle. food choices are stellar. Your every want taken care of with the asking.
Dinner last night at the seafood specialty restaurant was also awesome. No advanced reservations, no waiting list. Casual elegant attire was the only requirement. When we arrived the restaurant was full, rather than turn us away or make us wait on a table we were whisked through a SECRET passageway to the Secrets Puerto Valarta side of the resort where we enjoyed a amazing dinner. Portions were small as expected but when asked for additional food we were graciously accommodated.
I will stop bubbling about how great our experience has been here at Now Amber Resort in beautiful Puerto Vallarta, but do want to encourage all of you to make the best of all your vacations.
