Are you wondering why people are not visiting your blog?

Or… you’re getting visitors but they’re only sticking around for 10 seconds or less?!

Now don’t be offended… BUT…. Maybe it could be
your blog sucks!

There are many reasons why your blog isn’t providing the results you were hoping for.

Let’s tackle the 7 top reasons why your blog sucks and how you can make it better.

Are you ready?  Let’s GO!

#1 – It Doesn’t Convert

Here’s a question for you: Is your blog making you money?  NO?!  Well, if you’re blogging for ‘fun,’ then your blog is a hobby.  Blogging for profit is for serious business minded people looking to monetize their efforts in sharing content with their target audience, blogging for profit…

Achieving success with your business blog requires you to convert people from visitors to buying customers or joining you in your business opportunity.

Remember that your business blog acts like a gigantic lead capture where each post or page on your blog gives your visitor the opportunity to comment, ask questions, sign up for your newsletters and is a steady source of leads in building your online business success.

Bonus:  Another part of ‘converting’ your blog visitors to customers is following up with them, staying connected, sharing more value through your email marketing.  Check out my video:  3 Best Ways To Get Higher Email Open Rates

#2 – It’s Not Mobile-Friendly

It doesn’t matter if you have a separate web page specifically built for mobile devices. If your main blog isn’t mobile-friendly at all, this could be one of the reasons why your blog seems dead.  In today’s high tech world, most people access the web with the use of their mobile devices, and considering that, it’s one of the main sources of traffic to your blog.

So, it’s important to ensure that your blog is mobile-friendly accessible across all different screen sizes. An easy way to test this would be, open your blog using your web browser and play with the window size. If it’s mobile responsive, everything should be scaled properly and wouldn’t look like a total mess.

BONUS:  The platform you are on right now is called Kalatu.  Not only is this blogging platform mobile ready, but it takes away all the other technical headaches that can come from building a business blog.  Test it out here.

#3 – It Takes Forever to Load

Most bloggers believe that this isn’t a problem at all, especially if their blog looks promising and nice.
They think that the visitor or customer would be willing to wait, just to be able to view what they have to offer. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. Nearly half of web users expect the page to fully load once they click it and if it takes more than 3 seconds, they’d just abandon the blogsite, thinking it’s faulty.

Loading time and the speed on your blog weighs heavily on ranking your site. So, it’s crucial to focus on this instead of trying to maintain a beautiful layout. Yes, your blog may look very appealing, but if it takes forever to load, your visitors and potential customers will click away forever.

So before you start stuffing all those unnecessary plugins into your blog, be sure they do not affect your load times to your site.

#4 – Your Blog Pages Are A Complete Mess!

“First impressions are important.”  But that doesn’t mean you fill up your blog with everything under the sun.  Impress your visitors with less fuss and more valuable and helpful content.  Keep the clutter down by using simple themes, staying away from bright unappealing colors.  Keep flashing banners, pop-ups and other distractions to a low roar.

Accessing your blog should be quick, easy, appealing to the eye, leaving the visitor with a good impression.  Likewise, it should also allow them to easily locate where they should register and sign up for any complimentary reports or information.  Also, don’t forget to include the primary and secondary call-to-action, such as “Sign up here” or “Find out More.”  Don’t assume your visitors know ‘what to do’ on your blog.

#5 – Your About Me Section Is Too Self-Promotional

Your “About Me” page is an important part of your blog.  It gives information to visitors and potential customers.  But it is not an autobiography; it shouldn’t focus solely on you. Oftentimes, your visitors would visit the “About Me” page to know more about you, your company, products or services and if you’re really capable of providing what they need.

Thus, instead of trying to impress them about how wonderful you are, or your accomplishments in life, keep it balancedand give some extra information about what your reader or potential customer can expect from your site.

Also, stay away from blocks of text, but use ordered lists that are easy to read. If you can, you should also include head shots of you, your team and other images that represent what your site is about. This would add extra credibility.

#6 – You Didn’t Even Consider the User Experience

User experience is all about how your visitor feels when using your blog. Likewise, bad user flow could be the cause of high exit rates, as well as customer dissatisfaction and low sales and sign ups to your programs, products or services.

In order to determine your user experience, go through your analytics and try to determine which pages have high exit and bounce rates– these are usually the cause of your problem.  Aside from that, you could also use heat mapping tools that would allow you to closely monitor your site visitors. Through this, you’ll be able to improve your site even more.

If you are seeing low percentages of new visitors or returning visitors to your blog, this could be a good time to consider getting a third party (colleague, mentor or coach) to look at your blog giving you honest feedback.  Sometimes it is something you don’t see and getting that feedback and making some little changes will help you get that user experience back up to top notch status!

#7 – It’s Not as Engaging as It’s Supposed to Be

Your blog is business-related, but should also include your personal touch. With that, the content of your blog should be able to connect with your audience and make them “crave” for more.

Interweave your personal stories throughout your content, blog posts and videos. Reach out, relate and share with your audience instead of sounding robotic or fake. If you still question your ability to write, there’s nothing wrong with hiring some quality writers, like I do using iWriter, that could make your blog more appealing.

Before you sit down to write that next blog post, think about the person you are talking to.  This will help you to write more engaging posts that can relate to solving a problem or providing information that your audience is hungry for.  And the best thing about blogging?  Every post that you write just gets better and better!
