What does freedom mean?
Depending on who you ask you will get different answers.
To the person that is in an abusive relationship freedom means not getting your head pounded in.
To the person that is sick, freedom means being free of what ever disease is ailing them.
To the person that is stuck in a dead in job, freedom means doing what you love.
Do you get what I’m saying now?
What Does Freedom Mean To Adrian
Freedom to me means doing what you want, when you want, with who you want, for as long as you want.
Freedom to me means being able to watch College Football on Saturday’s if I want.
Freedom to me means traveling to NBA games and watching it from floor seats.
Freedom to me means being able to mentor men and young males on how to live a godly life.
Freedom to me means being able to travel and preach whenever God says go not thinking about how am I going to pay for this and what about if I miss another day of work.
Freedom to me means being able to travel to see family and friends and just enjoy God’s creation.
Freedom to me means waking up when I want now.
Freedom to me is not having the Monday morning blues Sunday evening while watching football.
I know that’s a lot to take in however in order to appreciate it you have to know where I come from.
Just to give you a peak here’s my last drive into work

Let’s back up now and let me tell you how this came about.
Flashback
Since I’ve been working consistently, which was back in October 1996, working at Sears in the shoe department, I’ve mainly been in a retail/mall environment working the weekends (except Sundays).
I worked at Sears for 3 years, then in August 2002 I got a job at a Verizon Wireless authorize dealer working in the mall. I was with them for about 2 years.
Then other jobs here and there that I worked at had me working on Saturdays as well.
Fast forward to 2007, I started working at AT&T. I was there for 2 years and needless to say I worked almost EVERY Saturday there as well.
What can I say, the weekends is the money days.
March 2010 I went back to Verizon and my working weekends, especially Saturdays continued.
Then in January 2011, I started at a Sprint preferred dealer. That’s when I was introduced to working 6 days a week as a manager. It was unnecessary, but hey, I signed up for it…so no complaining right?
That’s when my WHOLE weekend was taken, Friday, Saturday AND Sunday.
I only had one off day.
Fast forward to January this year my boss gave me Sundays off (which I was grateful for) so I could pastor my church, Kingdom Konnections Embassy.
I still had to work 6 days a week though.
So to be fair about 12+ years of my working life was focused on me working on Saturdays.
I’ve missed birthday parties, weekend get aways, family trips, basketball games, football games, movies, dates…..
….. a good part of my life because I was working a job that required for me to work the weekends.
I’m not mad at it.
It is what it is.
I made up my mind never again though.
NEVER AGAIN.
So I began to ask myself what does freedom mean to me.
You know a few years ago. I started to grow a huge respect and liking for college football.
From what I saw it could be more exciting than the NFL.
Every cell phone company I worked for, there was not a Saturday that went by during college football season where people did not have on their team apparel.
I would look at them….
….envious
…..wishing I could hang out with them.
I knew they were going to watch the game somewhere, enjoy their Saturday, eat some wings, fries, and maybe kick back a beer or whatever.
I wanted that life.
To me that represented freedom.
But that was only a dream…
….or was it?
PRESENT DAY
Well as you saw in the video above, on Saturday, September 15, 2012, I took my last walk out a job (for the rest of my life) into a world of freedom.
That day I went home and slept for a long time.
I then got up and worked on my sermon and I think watched a movie.
The next Saturday I was hanging out in San Diego at an internet marketing event.

And then this past Saturday it took me about 6 hours just to clean my apartment, I woke up when I was done sleeping, hung out on Facebook, listened to a few sermons, went back to sleep, and then did some marketing.
Now I have freedom.
Now I am able to live my dream life.
But I had to make a decision.
I had to make up my mind that the life I was living was less than what I was supposed to be living.
I had to be real with myself and say, “When did I give myself permission to live less than?”
And that’s what you have to ask yourself as well.
When did YOU give yourself permission to live less than?
And is that ok with you.
More than likely it’s NOT ok with you.
So make a decision NOW to change.
Find out what does freedom mean to you.
Right it down.
Look at it.
Dream about it.
Then go make it a reality.
