The Main Causes of Failure- My Top 5

The main causes of failure! What are they? And are they holding you back?

The other day I was re-reading one of my favorite books; Napolean Hill’s ‘Think and grow rich’.

Now I am sure you have all read this book at least once, but if my some small chance that you have not, then buy it! That is a no-brainer!

Ok, now this book shares many nuggets but I am going to focus on those people who try, yet ultimately fail. And life is full of such folk. But what exactly are the main causes of failure? Why do certain people fail, while others succeed?

As long as you understand yourself and are honest about where you may be going wrong now, or have gone wrong in the past, then you have a chance. You  must be aware of the main causes of failure and ensure they do not happen to you.

The Main Causes of Failure- My Top 5

The Main Causes of Failure

There are many main causes of failure. Below are my top 5.

1. The habit of Insdiscriminate Spending

Basically, if you are tight with money, then you will find it very difficult to succeed. Decide to put aside an amount of your income each month. The savings  that you have will give you courage when doing future business deals. Do not fear poverty. Let that drive you. Put some money aside for an emergency , re-invest a portion back into your business, and spend wisely. Do not waste your first sale on a new pair of shoes. Think long-term.

2. Procrastination.

This is, in my opinion one of the main causes of failure, and the reason people never get going in the first place. It is one I know all too well. People tend to go through life waiting. Waiting for that ‘right time’. Well, if this is your mindset, then the time is never going to be ‘just right’.

Stop waiting! You will learn as you go and be better for it.

3. A Lack of persistence.

This is one of the main causes of failure. When things do not go right straight away, a lot of folk will throw in the white towel. Most people are great starters, but poor finishers. Have you ever given up something too early and then regretted it? How good would you have been if you had just kept going?  As Napolean Hill says, failure cannot cope with persistence.

4. A Lack of a well-defiend Purpose in Life

Napolean Hill identified this as one of the main causes of failure. His statistics showed that amazingly, 98% of the people he interview had no such purpose. And that is probably why they failed. Do you have a well-defined purpose in your life?

5. Wrong selection of associates in business

This is another one of the main causes of failure. If you decide to venture int the world of marketing, be it online or off lien, then you must take care to select a mentor. Now the commonly held belief is to select someone who has achieved success before so you can emulate them. I agree to a point. However, the top gurus often do not have time to devote to newbies.

They are busy with their more successful business builders in their team. Luckily, I found a mentor who is on s way up. He has achieved success, although he is not a guru. He is someone I can relate to, I resonate with and someone who I feel is approachable.

I could have chosen someone more famous, richer, but I doubt I would have the same relationship with them as I have with my mentor.

The Main Causes of Failure- My Top 5

As you can see, there are many main causes of failure. Do not let these main causes of failure affect you. If you have yet to see success, then one of the best things you can do is seek the advice of a mentor who can identify the main causes of failure, and how they are preventing you form getting to the top.

If you would like more information on the main causes of failure, then I highly recommend you read ‘think and grow rich’. If you have it, re-read it. You will find new nuggets every time.
