Actually, if I saw this guy on the street, I probably would give hime some change as at least he is being creative….and he has a smile on his face.
But lets be honest, that style ain’t gonna work for most people.

In any business, the important thing is to build relationships.
About 10 years ago now, I was living in Chicago for a month. I was a backpacker and working as a waiter in a 1950s style diner called Johnny Rockets’.
Once a day, the staff had to do a choreographed dance to Frank Sinatra’s hit ‘Chicago’. Have a listen for yourself:
I was mortified at first but as I got used to doing it, I saw the funny side. And the customers usually did not really care.
Everyday after work, I would wander around for half an hour before going back to my motel room. And without fail, this homeless guy would ask me ‘Hey big fella, spare a dollar?’

He was not threatening at all, and always smiled and nodded when i said sorry, but I had no cash on me. Of course, that was a lie, but I thought he would just waste it on booze. And I was a backpacker and was saving up to be able to afford a deposit to deliver a car to Oregon. I had always had a dream to drive across the Sates alone, and I was not going to waste that chance.
This went on for a few weeks.
For no reason, one day, I caved in. I told him that if he came with me, I would buy him lunch. I took him to a place…I think it was called Boston chicken. Anyway, you could choose a few things for about 6-7 bucks.
I told him to get what he wanted. He politely thanked me.
Silently, he got some chicken, a salad, cinnamon and apple, and a coke. He then took his tray outside and sat on the side of the road.
I finished my lunch but before I left, he had already gone.
And the strange thing is, he never asked me for money again. Lucky for me I guess, coz I would have probably given him some if he did.
Build Relationships with People
In a strange kind of way, that guy had built some sort of relationship with me. And as such, I gave him some of my money as opposed to some random stranger who I had never had any communication with.
Building relationships with people is very important. Not just for monetary purposes, but connecting with various kinds of people helps you learn how different people view things and live.
I now live in Japan and have been lucky enough to have met so many people from all over the world and that has definitely given me a different perspective on life.
