Homeschooling With Zig Ziglar

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

Zig Ziglar has influenced many lives through his life.

Yesterday, Nov 28, 2012 was a sad day…Zig Ziglar died at the age of 86.

Zig Ziglar words of wisdom and positive mindset will continue to be present in people’s homes and lives. His 25+ books, 10 of which were best sellers, audios/podcasts and videos are easily accessible all over the world. Zig Ziglar will continue to teach, guide and help people, his words and inspiration will live on.

One year ago, my son-Samuel- came to me at the age of 14 years old asking me to take him out of the public school system, provide homeschooling. He had tried very hard over the years to figure out how to fit in, comply and cope within the system. In the end, we were doing most of his work at home anyway. My answer was yes, the decision was easy.

Samuel has always been a leader. He is naturally charismatic and confident. For that reason, I chose much of his ciricculum to based on learning effective leadership and communication skills. I chose a few leaders and he was to choose some of his own. He chose Zig Ziglar.

In his own words, Samuel describes Zig Ziglar to be like a god of our time. He admires Zig Ziglar foremost because it is obvious that family comes first to him. He treats the world and the people in it with respect. Samuel also says that Zig Ziglars words, his message “sticks with him”. Zig Ziglars stories and messages within his stories resonates . At 15 years old, Samuel relates to the messages that Zig Ziglar shared, he is empowered by them.

I am filled with gratitude for the presence of Zig Ziglar in our lives. He has made such a positive impact on both of our lives already and we’ve only just begun.

A close friend and mastermind partner of mine, Wayne Eaton, gave my son 2 of Zig Ziglar’s books. Samuel reads them, then writes about what he is taking from what Zig Ziglar has written.

Zig Ziglar has been a catalyst of change for many people including myself and my children. How fortunate we are that Zig Ziglar made a decision to share his insight, his wealth of knowledge helping people to live up to their own true potential. His message did not give people something they did not already have, it simply made them aware of what they could do.

Zig Ziglar often said Evaluate where you are…

Once we are truly aware of where we are … knowing that we are where we are because of our own decisions…

…we will then know, it is our decision to change where we are.

Everyone that reads or listens to his message is…

Homeschooling With Zig Ziglar

As long as I can remember, I have read Zig Ziglar’s words and related to them. I have truly always been blessed with the gift of being able to see the shiny side of every situation. What I have been learning since studying Mr. Zig Ziglar since studying him with my son is “how” he shares that thinking with others. I admire his insight to every situation he spoke of as well as the number of people he has touched.

My main objective with both of my children is to teach them to believe in themselves, to know that they can be successful at anything they choose.
