What has Baseball to do with Empower?

I went for a walk through some kind of forrest. Trees. Hidden somewhere above was the highway – I just imagined it was a river or a waterfall. It was a hot day. Been in the garden just before lunch time. Had a nice lunch there. I love it because it’s so quiet. Only the river 
and birds and the wind in the tree playing.
Anyway, after lunch I had to go to the loo (which is a few 100 meters from our garden) and on a whime I decided to extend my walk and strole through the other gardens and turned into the forrest (with the river). Lovely. Much cooler.
Anyway, I had Kevin Trudeau on my iPod and was listening to him talking about passion and feeling good. To be passionate about something. To feel passion about something and you have much more fun.
And suddenly I had a vision. It reminded me of my first baseball game I got to go to during my english learning stay in San Francisco.
The teachers who came along tried to explain the rules to us. None of us had seen a baseball game before. Most of us didn’t even know this game or sport.
I’ve played handball all my life and seeing those guys just standing around was beyond me. I thought it was the most boring thing in the world. I didn’t get the rules. There was no goal, not two sides. It was weird. And after nothing really happened, the players would leave the ground and others would go onto it.
BORING!!!
At one point we picked a team. The one with the prettier dress. And started to root for them.
Now, suddenly we had fun. It became interesting. It was like we had passion for the team we had picked. And I don’t even remember the name of the teams or the out come. And we started to understand the rules. And we would argue with the umpires. Of course sitting behind the outfield they didn’t hear us.
I bet our teachers had fun just watching us. I wish I could ask them now that I had this insight.
Baseball and Passion
So I think if you pick something, a TV show (in my case Xena: Warrior Princess), a MLM company, a sports team, a business, what ever and decide this is the team you are going to root for… passion automatically comes in.
It’s also much easier to say no to any shiney object that tries to steal away your passion.
I can now understand why people root for a football team for many years, all their life and it doesn’t really matter if they lose or win. Or why they cry when their team loses. It’s like they themself have played and lost.
Thinking of that, how can you be passionate if you have 15 businesses? I asked that the other day to someone who claims to have over 15 businesses. The answer: if some of them go belly up he still has the others. I don’t get this logic because I don’t think you can have passion for 15 businesses. And I would not be surprised if most of those so called businesses do go belly up. Which proofs his theory I guess.
Yet, I believe he’d have more fun if he’d pick just one. The one he likes best. Of course if it’s just one of those matrixes or cyclers, no wonder he has to work with 15…
Being in the game, having rooted half-heartedly for several teams, I really think it’s a good idea to stay at the fence, watch, observe for a while and then pick one. One that makes you feel good.
Of course it doesn’t hurt if it also pays well
I found my team. And with Empower I do feel good. For the first time. One team to root for.
