What is Google Analytics?
Google Analytics (GA) is a service offered by Google that generates detailed statistics about the visits to a website. The product is aimed at marketers as opposed to webmasters and technologists from which the industry of web analytics originally grew. It is the most widely used website statistics service.
Why is Google Analytics so important?
In order for you to see if what you are promoting is working, you need to have some kind of tracking system in place, Google Analytics is the perfect tracking system.
Today we are going to talk about how to add Google Analytics to your Empower Network blog. In order to do that, you need to go to http://Google.com/analytics and set up an account for free.
To get started, login with your account and click on “Admin”, or if you’re a brand new account, it should default you.
Then click on new account as seen below
and it’s going to bring you to this screen here:
Now you can name your account whatever you want but I think the easy way to go is just to name it Empower Network. Just put in your blog URL http://www.EmpowerNetwork.com/youruserID. Okay? Just like that, http://www.EmpowerNetwork.com/youruserID. Then just fill out the fields:
- Website:Empower Network Blog
- Industry Category: Retail (or whatever it is you are promoting)
- Select your time zone and country
- Account Name: Empower Network
- Leave boxes checked
Then click “Get Tracking ID“
Make sure to go through and read the agreement yourself, you always want to make sure you understand the agreement. You will then land on this page:
Now your tracking code is created. Highlight it, copy it. That’s it.
Now when you go back to your Empower Network blog, you go down here to settings, all the way down to the bottom you’ve got Google Analytics.
Just copy the tracking code from Google Analytics and paste it to the box above.
And then “Save Changes”. There you go. Google Analytics is now set up
