What is your sponsor or referring member’s responsibility?
Today I came across a very good post on Facebook and I wanted to share it with you as it really hits home for a lot of marketers.
At what point is it your referring member or Sponsor’s responsibility to your training.
What are the expectations of your sponsor or referring member?
Let me share this Sponsor’s Story with you that I read today on Facebook and maybe things will sink in a little better.
We see a lot of “will your sponsor just sign you up and forget about you” around Facebook (usually to elicit more business for themselves but that’s another story altogether and for another time)
Here’s what we would like to say on the subject (we speak only for ourselves and do not represent anyone else)
# 1 All sponsors are not equal
Some ‘sponsors’ see sign ups as just a numbers game whilst others actually go over the top with support and training to get a new team member the best chance of success
Choose your sponsor wisely!
If they offer you training then use it!
# 2 Your ‘Sponsor’ is not your boss
There is a mindset shift from being an employee to becoming a home business entrepreneur.
You turn up on your own time and are responsible 100% for your business and the effort you put into it. PERIOD
No one is going to tell you what to do and when to do it. It’s down to you.
# 3 Your ‘sponsor’ is not to blame for YOUR lack of results
You got into the business they were talking about because you a) liked the look of that business/opportunity or
b) saw it as your vehicle to make money/fulfil a dream
What has changed? Question to self.
# 4 Your ‘sponsor’ will recognize and ‘help’ you if you get on their radar by taking action and achieving results (even small results)
How about reaching out and asking for some guidance (different to the word ‘help’ )
# 5 If your ‘sponsor’ offers you a private conference call and you don’t take it then that is your choice but don’t then blame them for your lack of direction and action.
Value you sponsor’s time when they give it freely to help you build your business – respect their knowledge that they give freely.
Just be upfront, real and honest and stop all this misleading ‘your sponsor this and your sponsor that malarkey’ just to get people to join your opportunity.
Here’s what will happen ….
You will just attract more people who will then whine and whinge about you
Market yourself for who you are. Become the ‘sponsor’ you would like to see.
✔ PS Let’s find a better word than “sponsor”
Personally, I prefer “Mentor”
