So you have put all that time and energy into starting an online business but no one can find you searching Google. Check out the tips in this article to find affordable ways to improve your traffic and search engine ranking. SEO for small business; Honestly look at your site and see if any of these problems sound like a reason your site isn’t getting the attention it should.

SEO Checklist – Your site is new

If your has not been around long and therefore your links are new, or your main page has changed significantly chances are Google will rank you poorly. Or if are constantly changing your posts or main page after you publish you will not rank well. If you want Google to like you don’t do it.

SEO Checklist – Not Enough Fresh Content

If you make any big changes to your existing content, the search engine will not like it, but you should add new and relevant content for Google to index regularly. Google re-indexes sites regularly so you should add new content several times a week. The more the better. Most websites do this by creating a blog on their domain which is probably the easiest way to add content that people can share which of course makes more links back to you. The more quality links to your site from other sites the higher your rank. your links should come from good, relevant content on pages that are already highly ranked. Many websites were hurt by Google’s Panda/Penguin Updates penalize keyword spamming, and unnatural link building strategies from irrelevant content. These tactics should be avoided.

SEO Checklist – Under Optimizing Your Website

There are a few very simple things Google looks for on your site. Google wants to find what the goal of the site. Determine your keywords and see them as part of good content. Google wants to see that the content is useful for someone searching for your keywords and will rank you higher for that. Google can’t “see” videos, images, etc. Make sure your main content is in text so the search engine can actually “see” it. If you don’t use your keyword in your title, and several appropriate places in your content, you will not be happy with the results. SEO Checklist – Over Optimizing Your Website

Now that Google has found your keywords avoid these temptations. One of the biggest errors is what is called keyword stuffing. Your keywords should be in good content and fit with the page. If you’re putting every keyword you can find into every title, description, and image/video tag on your page you will be penalized. Organic search results will make or break a site. why would not do something that help search engines direct your customers directly to you? SEO doesn’t have to be difficult, it does take time but if you want to be successful it definitely needs to be done. Use a SEO Checklist you create. Fix or improve what Google doesn’t like and you will see vast improvement in your rankings and traffic. Be patience and keep at it!
