You’re Never Alone

It’s very easy to hear how bad the world is turning, how crazy people are, and how sad the news is everyday.  However, it is important to remember that there is another way of living and thinking that social media doesn’t show us; there are good people, and someone will bed there to help us when we need it the most.

Thursday night I was so worried because it was going to be the first time I’d fly alone with my baby.  It made me nervous and I barely slept that night. I’m happy to say that the experience was so good that now I am inspired to write about it.

After having an amazing and very short time in Mexico, the time to pack and get ready to come back home arrived. I was thinking so many things, but always had the hope that everything was going be smooth and easy.

You’re Never Alone

When I was at the airport talking with the ticket lady who was helping me, she said I could change my seat if I wanted. I asked for one with an empty seat next to me and next to the window. She said there was not any available but when she was about to give me a different one, she said: “I just got one!” Then she told me I had to be there earlier because the system “chose” me to have an inspection before I could board the plane. I thought: What luck! the system does that when I am the one going through, now that I am alone with Adam! Then I thought.. it’s OK, and everything will workout perfectly… I remembered at that point that 1- God is with me. 2- I can make my experience better or bitter.

 I went to ask about that inspection and wait for the moment they call my name. Then someone came to me and said: it’s your turn. So I went and the inspector lady was very nice the whole time. I was the first person going through that inspection from that flight and because I was the first one guess what? I was almost the first one boarding the plane! So I  remembered  Chris Record’s words… reframe the way we experience challenge or troubles. I didn’t know in the beginning that it was going to be a blessing that I was chosen for the inspection.  However, the experience allowed me an easier path to board the plane.

Once on the airplane the guy next to me seemed very nice. It made me feel better and I was happy because Adam was doing well. Around 30 minutes after the plane took off, I saw a familiar face on the plane. It was a friend of mine married to one of my closest friends and he was friend with the guy next to me!. So now they were helping me when I had to go to the restroom and were taking care of Adam and I. This highlighted area is a little tricky.  Let’s simplify the relationship to these people like:

I recognized the husband of one of my closest friends who was also friends with the guy sitting in the seat next to me!  So now I even had a support system on the plane to help take care of Adam when I needed to get up from my seat and also have some friends to keep me company.

When we arrived in Atlanta people came to me to say: “Your baby did great!” “He let us sleep all the way!”, and I got some other nice comments.
Then one of the guys was helping me to carry my suitcase. I also had a lot of people that wanted to help because Adam was with me. Everything was easier and faster than if I’d traveled by myself, You’re never alone... I thought.

Funny thing was that on the next flight, my uncle’s boss was on the plane with his wife. So when we arrived home not only my husband was waiting for us but also I got to see our uncle and aunt, who was there to pick up his boss.  It was a nice surprise.

I had a great experience flying with my baby and meeting some good people here and there. So many people made a difference in my life that day. And most importantly they helped me to remember that there are still a lot of good people in the world.

Reframe the way you see troubles or challenges. Think that something good will come through them and remember, You’re Never Alone.

I want to encourage you to help one person today to make their life easier. I’m so thankful for all the people who helped me, I’m sure God was taking care of us by putting all of those people around me.

And the best thing is that I was “working” while having all of those amazing and challenging experiences, because I can use them to help others and inspire them!.
