The Key to Connecting with Your Target Audience is Vulnerability

Ever wonder why you sometimes feel deeply connected to some bloggers, while with certain others it’s painful to watch even the first 30 seconds? Well the reason we feel a sense of connection to certain people is because they allow us to see them, and to see them deeply. It’s called vulnerability. In today’s video blog I talk about the necessity of embracing your vulnerabilities in front of your audience.

What Does Shame Have to Do with Vulnerability?

An interesting discovery I came across yesterday is that the core of vulnerability is shame. And interestingly enough, although we all have shame, we typically don’t like talking about it. It may surprise you that  the less we talk about shame, the more we have it. And the more shame we have, the less capable we are of allowing ourselves to be vulnerable, and the less connection we will have with our audience. So let’s talk about it.

What is Shame?

Shame is defined as a fear of disconnection. While listening to a very profound audio on fear and vulnerability yesterday I had several light bulb moments.

What I Discovered About Shame and Vulnerability

  • The first of which was that people with a strong since of connection have it as a result of being their authentic selves.
  • Another light bulb went off after learning that the main difference between people who struggle with having a sense of worthiness and those with a strong sense of worthiness and connection lies in the latter’s belief that they are worthy of connection
  • I also discovered that people with a strong sense of worthiness fully embrace their vulnerability. They believe that what makes them vulnerable is what makes them beautiful.
  • What was most profound was in my discovery that individuals with a strong sense of connection and worthiness have the courage to be imperfect. They have a willingness to let go of who the think they ought to be, for who they really are.

Conclusion

So if there is one thing I’d like you to take away from today’s blog is to set the intention of your posts to deeply connect with your target audience by learning to live with vulnerability. Let go of who or where you think you ought to be in your business and embrace where you are. Let yourself be seen deeply by your audience, without any self-judgement or shame. And lastly, but certainly not the least, believe that are worthy. Believe you are enough.

As always in keeping with the eight core commitments I encourage you to read 10 pages of a personal development book and listen to 15 minutes of a good audio today. I hope this blog was helpful.  If so please leave a comment. For more information on how you can cash in on your passion with a blog too, subscribe here to be added to my email list. 1. Absolutely… I believe that some of my best posts were in direct proportion to my remembering to set an intention to give value to my audience. Thanks so much for your comments! 🙂

  2. Authenticity and vulnerability certainly lead to a closer and stronger connection with people. Sometimes it’s challenging to draw the line between vulnerability and egotism. My concern about vulnerability at times is being careful not to be self centered — you know what I mean? Though I will say that there is greater engagement when I talk about myself or something that I’m interested in — not technical material. Thanks, Paris for being you.

  3. Yes Carol… very valid point that we must remain watchful of Easing God Out(E.G.O.). Good to know that vulnerability has bee helpful with connection and engagement with your audience… just more affirmation of the link between connection and vulnerability. Thanks so much for your comments! 🙂

  4. hey Paris

  5. I really Love this! One of the Most beautiful thing about life is our ability to share our vulnerability. Its frees us and Helps us to grow! Thank you so much for this video blog Paris! You are AMAZING!

  6. Love this post. I have read many spiritual books that list Shame as one of the lowest vibrational emotions. Through being vulnerable we become confident and rid ourselves of shame all together. Thanks for sharing this 🙂

  7. Yes I totally agree, shame is the lowest vibration of emotions. It serves o no good purpose what so ever because nothing good can ever come from it. I’ve had a lot of healing work done in this area, but I’m still a work in progress. Thanks so much for your comments! 🙂

  8. Great post today Paris, this is such a powerful topic.
I loved your video! You broke down vulnerability and shame to a tee…

  9. This topic was such an eye opener for me… I feel I have grown in the process just writing about it. Learn, teach & do is so powerful! Thanks so much for your comments!:)

  10. LOVE this Paris! You are spot on with everything you said. Being vulnerable shows your real and so many can relate to you. Some will, some won’t and that’s ok.. at least you’re being your true, authentic self and continuing to grow into the very best version of YOU. Adore you! Really great advice to help others step into their greatness and let their lights shine. 🙂

  11. This was awesome! You were definitely authentic in the video. I can tell your topic and what you learned from it affected you in a deep and positive way. Watching you has opened my eyes to be even MORE authentic at being who I am aiming to be. Thanks for sharing.

  12. I love your videos. Do you want to know why? Your voice is rich with raw emotion, authenticity, and vulnerability. I see and feel your emotions on your sleeve. Okay you may fill in the details of your life. But the vulnerability love is already there. I like to call it transparency. You are absolutely right! The Self-development journey is an infinite one. You described it accurately. The intention to uncover who we are is a profound one for most of us have forgotten to the point that we have even forgotten to pay attention to our lives…to even ASK…how can I be a better, more expansive version of myself in order to contribute with my presence more to the world. You go Paris! <3

  13. Thanks so much for your thoughtful feed back Phenie:) And yes though it’s not always easy I strive to be transparent in my posts, but I am a work in progress. Good to know it’s coming across 🙂 Thanks so much for your comments! 🙂
