GMO Candy MUST SEE, What Are We Giving Our Children?

Halloween may be behind us, but who knows how long all of the GMO’s will live in our system and what it does to us over time.

I bet you have a ton of this GMO candy sitting around your home from last weeks halloween festivities. Even more, with the holiday’s coming up, there is just a different marketing purpose for all of it.

GMO candy is everywhere we look! Just LOOK at the mainstream varieties in the GMO candy graphic below. Skittles, Dum Dums, Kit Kat, Candy Corn, M&M’s, Twix, Snickers, Reese’s to name a few Halloween favorites……..YIKES!!

GMO CANDY:

What is GMO? Genetically Modified Organisms.
When a gene from one organism is purposely moved to improve or change another organism in a laboratory, the result is a genetically modified organism (GMO). It is also sometimes called “transgenic” for transfer of genes. Gross right?!

I got this cool GMO candy infographic from The GIVE Project on Facebook (they have a ton of other cool information too). They have put together this infographic displaying some of the most popular candy that is given away to children who trick or treat on Halloween. This year, please be informed and aware of what you are giving to the children as treats. All of the candies displayed in the infographic contain Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) — Please be sure to share this information with your friends so they can be aware and informed.

I have a confession, I did not take my kiddos trick or treating this year (and never have in all of their young lives) for a few reasons;
– They are only 2 and 4
– Halloween is really a time for kids to beg for candy, men to dress like women, and women to dress like hookers (I hope you are laughing at that, but really it’s true when you take a close look at it. )
– The actual creatures and scary monsters, scare my children. I don’t want to expose them to that or anything about Halloween ‘on purpose.’

Thing is, I’m not trying to hide Halloween and GMO candy from them, I’ve just taken a stand for not ‘pushing them into it.”

They will have plenty of years in the future to be naturally exposed to it and there will be little I can do about it. But why now? At such a young age?

There are plenty of healthier options out there for for our children, substituting GMO candy, that are  just as tasty. Just search  ’natural candy stores online’.

So, there you have it, GMO candy that you probably never knew was so harmful to your little bugaboo’s and your own health.

Choose the healthier options of non-gmo candy. If that’s the only option you provide, your family will either grow to like it, or choose other options like pure natural fruits.

I particularly LOVE this next video. I am a HUGE advocate of juicing and we do it in our house daily! My kids love juicing and shakes and I know it packs a nutritional boost to their bodies. I love that the GIVE projects juices for the homeless. Kind of makes me cry when I see the kids.
