It’s so true that whatever you take in is going to come out of you in one way or another. This truth not only applies to food and water we feed our bodies. It also applies to what we feed our mind. That’s why it’s so important that we censor everything we take in mentally as well. If we want to be successful in living our dreams we have to be careful what we watch and listen to. Media can sometimes prove to be a distraction and really deter our personal progress. I remember a powerful quote I used to hear a mega-pastor preach growing up. Those of you that know me know that growing up I was a church girl. So a lot of the things I share is influenced by Christian principles to some degree. I used to love waking up in the morning to watch Creflo Dollar on television. He has often come under fire for preaching the prosperity gospel. I don’t agree with everything that I’ve heard him preach, but I do agree with the notion that the creator never intended for us to be broke, busted, disgusted, and always on pins and needles because we don’t have the money we need to cover the basic necessities of life. One of the most powerful things that Creflo ever said that has stuck with me to this day is, “Television is meant to tell a vision.” What we see is when we turn on the tv is a display of someone’s vision. Someone somewhere had a desire, developed a vision, and took the necessary action to present that vision to the world. This is not true for only television but every form of media: television, internet, radio, magazine, music, ect. It’s one thing to watch someone else’s vision, it’s another thing to live our own. It’s okay to enjoy entertainment, but not to the point where we are distracted. Too many times in life we lose sigh of our own vision and dreams, because we are too busy being entertained. Television and media services as one of the top dream killers and vision stealers. We have to know when to walk away, turn it off, fast from it, and put our focus into telling our vision. That’s why mediums like the internet, youtube, facebook, are so important. They allow the average person like you and me, to tell-our-vision.
