Blind four year old boy overcomes obstacle of walking down a curb for the first time

What an amazing example of courage, determination, and perseverance.

Gavin Robert Stevens is the 4 year old in the video.

He suffers from Leber Congenital Amaurosis an inherited condition which causes blindness at birth.

Gavin teaches us all several lessons of determination as he slowly works his way down the curb.

And you can hear him in his own voice say “I can do it.”

And he does do it.

Truly a beautifully touching moment.

And his mother is in the background encouraging him the entire time.

Lessons of determination can be seen in this next video of a baby sea lion surprising a  scuba diver and taking a ride on his kayak.

In this video you can see the determination of this adorable little sea lion as he continues to try to hitch a ride on a kayak.

A late night scuba diver is surprised by this little guy and his lessons of determination can be seen as he continually won’t be denied his tow into shore.

It turns out that the sea lion may have been cold and was trying to find a way to get warm.

And the story ends well.

When we have had to conquer an obstacle.

I love this definition of determination – “fixing or settling a purpose.”

When you make a decision and then settle on a purpose…

…like Gavin, who demonstrated his purpose, you become alive when you overcome the adversity.

Or our little Sea Lion friend, who would not be denied the comfort of warmth.

It is what makes living life worth while.

We need challenges, obstacles, and accomplishments.

Without them, there is no achievement?

One that has had me overcome many obstacles on my path.

Determination starts with a decision.

It starts with making a decision that causes action.

Like the decision spoken about in this video.
