Steve Kallock

An insurance agent who also writes about Alabama football and an otter with arthritis is not a combination anybody planned. Steve Kallock keeps all three going, and the insurance material has the most utility: what voluntary benefits are for, how to understand a life policy, and where to find the claim forms for his state.

The life lesson posts come from unlikely places and mostly work. An otter learning to dunk a basketball because it keeps his elbows moving. A toll booth operator who had worked something out about freedom. A former wrestler with a story worth hearing.

College football gets covered the way a fan writes, with predictions, post-mortems and an obvious loyalty.

The blogging posts track his own progress in public, including how long it took him to reach a first page of results, which beats most claims about the same thing.

Read the insurance posts if you need them. Read the otter one anyway.
