Happy Thanksgiving to you, now take a hike
So yesterday my wife was let go from her job.
Fired.
Laid off.
Canned.
Whatever you want to call it.
So, one week before Thanksgiving her employer gives her the boot.
“Happy Thanksgiving, you’re fired.”
“Have some turkey with a side of unemployment.”
Now they didn’t say those things.
Those are my little ad-libs.
And all is certainly not dire in our household.
The world is still spinning.
Life goes on.
We fully intended to retire my wife from her crappy job, anyway.

It just happened a little sooner than expected.
Her employer should have checked with me.
I would have told them this was not on schedule
But this will still be a Happy Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving – Take your job and shove it right up……….
………..your turkey.
The beautiful thing about all this, is how it reminds me why I don’t work for anyone.
If you think you have job security, think again.
Your job is only as secure as the person holding it.
Think about that for a second.
We just had an in-your-face example of why your job is never secure.
At any time you can be unemployed.
We are living examples of that.
Now not all jobs suck.
I understand that they are important to maintain a standard of living.
Most of them provide health insurance.
Which reminds me, we don’t have that anymore.
“Happy Thanksgiving – No more health insurance for you!” (best Soup Nazi impersonation)
You are never free working for someone.
There will always be that moment of fear…….
…..that call to the HR Director’s office on a Friday that gets the heart rate pumping.
……that quarter when you don’t hit your sales quota.
…….or when you just lose passion for your career, like I did.
Then your Happy Thanksgiving becomes one of uncertainty.
I don’t want this post to take a turn into negative town.
My wife hated that job.
There is cause for celebration today.
And I am glad to see her free of the bonds it had on her.
The only thing I am upset about was she did not get to leave on her terms.
I would have loved for her to call them up and said “Happy Thanksgiving, shove that job right up your…….turkey.”
But that is ok.
It did not work out that way.
It is a temporary set back that we will overcome.
Our temporary panic attach is over.
Happy Thanksgiving – Time to follow our passions
My wife now has the chance to pursue her passions.
She has some projects that she has been working on that she can now pursue.
Stay tuned on that.
Lately I have followed my passion with Empower Network.
You can just say we are a couple of passion seekers.
Life is too short not to.
The reason we will have a Happy Thanksgiving is because for the first time in our adult lives we are going for it.
We don’t know where these roads are going to take us.
But that is part of the fun.
The journey in itself sometimes is more fun than the destination.
When you are an entrepreneur you are in control.
And your Happy Thanksgiving can’t be taken from you by anybody.
