Where Are You Going?

I have found this one thing to be true in life…If you don’t know where you are going you will never get there! This is true no matter who you are.
I was on a call earlier this week that was just so powerful, I think because the person leading the call did something I love….Went back to the basics. I absolutely love a little “basic training” lol!
Getting Back to the Basics
A couple years ago my wife and I played on our churches softball team. We weren’t very good. The reason for this could be seen in our practices. All we every did was try to hit the ball.
The only thing most people wanted to do was batting practice. I know how important it is in softball to be able to hit the ball, but if that is all we know how to do we would still lose. If we don’t get back to the basics of how to catch the ball, back each other up, and what to do with the ball once we caught it, how could we ever win?
But we never did and as a result we lost almost every game we played. Something I think could have been avoided if we just got back to the basics.
Know Your Destination
The same thing applies in business. We have to get back to the basics. The first thing we need to know is our destination. We have to know where we are going!
Now that sounds easy enough, right? Just know where you are going. If you are in business to make money then obviously you want to make money! Simple.
But the key, here, is to be specific. Like he said on the call…
Clarity is Power!
Know where you are going. Not the general direction, but exactly where you want to be. Only when you know where you are going can you map out a route to get you there! (Somebody should write that down!! lol)

Wow!! Not to toot my own horn or anything, but that is powerful right there!
Be clear and precise when deciding on you destination. I mean think about it, would you buy an airplane ticket without knowing exactly where you were going? No that would be completely stupid.
So why would we set out on a journey to start our own business without a clear destination in place? Which will bring me to my second point…
Write It Out!
On a piece of paper actually write it out. Remember to be specific, because “clarity is power!” Be clear. Be precise! Know exactly where you want to go and write that down.
Is that too hard? NO
In the book, “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill, he talks about knowing and writing you Major Definite Purpose. To write out exactly what you want, how you are going to get it, and (optional) when you will have it.
And here is the key to making this work in your business. Read it twice daily!
Yup everyday. 2 times a day.
What will this do? Well I was listening to one of my mentors, Paul, and he was talking about the change in himself when he begin to do this. He went from doubting and questioning what he was doing to having the faith in himself to know where he was going and how he was getting there.
Over the last few weeks I have come to understand, even more than before, the importance of personal development. And working on you and your mind is one of the most important and basic practices you can get into.
