Free Writing
This is something I think most have heard about. I have read about it in several books, but it was not until I started reading Accidental Genius by Mark Levy (Click Here to check it on Amazon) Some of his tips in the book make free writing more effective for me. Some I never thought about or knew about until I read the book.
This is what I am going to share with you. This can be used for a number of different things not only coming up with ideas to blog about. Accidental Genius goes through these and different ways to use free writing.
You can do this on a computer. I prefer to use a simple pen and pad for this. The concept is to take what you are thinking about and make it tangible through writing.
You will also need a timer. I tend to just use the one on my cell phone.
Write what you want to think about. For this just something like “Ideas For My Blog” and set your timer about 10-15 minutes. The most important thing is to never stop writing. It is ok to repeat the last letter, word over and over until you come up with a new idea, but keep writing something during the time. Of course, grammar and spelling is out of the window here. Just be sure you can understand what the idea was when you go back.
Also don’t worry if an idea is terrible here. Just write it down. In addition, you are the only person who will see this paper, unless you show it to someone.
Normally what happens is you will start off with the normal stuff at the top. As you continue, your handwriting will get messy as you are writing as fast as you can ideas. This is where you may come up with several good ideas to blog about.
You may want to mark the ideas you like and want to write about. You can save these for future blog posts if you want. Some ideas you may have to do a little research before you write about them.
Then take another 10-15 minute free writing session on the idea you choose. This will give you some more content for your blog post. Then it will probably take 10-15 more minutes to type up your blog post and publish it.
2. KALATU
This is a little more of an app that speeds up blogging and coming up with new ideas to blog about. I been playing with it a few days and it is very useful if you are wanting to blog, but not sure what to blog about.
KALATU is the latest blogging platform for Empower Network. They incorporated a 21 Day Challenge to get you moving into blogging. Each day of the challenge you can log in and it will have instructions about what to write about.
For example when I logged in today it was to blog about “Hacks”. It gives some places to find ideas. Then asks you questions about the subject. You write your answers, add some pictures, put in a call to action (they have a few already written up for you or you can add your own), and then create blog post.
You then can look at your blog post be sure it looks good. Then publish and you blog for that day is finished.
If you finish the 21 Day Challenge, or you want to blog more, you can click the “Give Me An Idea!” it will bring up an idea to blog about. Or click another idea and it will bring up a new idea.
In addition, you can also click on “Give Me A Headline” It will ask about the subject. It will give you a headline to write about. This could also be another way to come up with an idea about what to blog about.
If you already have a blog and want to use these feature of KALATU, you just have to log in and go through the questions. Then press “Create My Post” then copy and paste it into your blog.
If you are struggling with coming up with ideas to blog about, I strongly encourage you to try KALATU out. It will help you blog better by giving you some great ideas and you also get a chance to earn a little extra money.
