What Makes Your Video Shareable And Viral

Youtube

You should all know that the techniques and tricks that make for great TV, on the contrary, make for bad online video. Most of what we all know about creating compelling video simply doesn’t apply to viral video. Why not? Because what works in television does not work online.

First of all, television is made primarily to hook and hold viewers because as soon as the viewer flips the channel, the game is lost. So for 60 years, television has been getting better and better at keeping us from changing the channel. All the techniques and tricks – quick cuts, multicamera shoots, angles – grab us and keeps us watching for hours at a time so that, at the end of the day, even if we’re drained, television has done what it needs to do to be profitable : it has delivered our eyeballs to its advertisers.

But to go viral online, if you do is hold our attention, you’ve failed. You’re main goal is not to keep viewers changing the channel. It’s to get them to love what you’ve made so much that they want to stop what they’re doing and tell their friends. Viral video is about sharing. That makes it different from every other kind of moving picture.

The next question is : How do you get people to share ? The truth is we can’t force someone to do it or control it. But there are a few traits that viral video have in common. It’s about emotion : We’re more likely to share something that makes us feel good; and we’re more likely to share something that get us fired up. If I do a video with no emotion, no enthusiasm and no energy, no one will share it neither watch all the video. So to get people sharing, you need to get them actively engaged with strong positive emotions. Be confident in what you’re doing, be energetic and the people that are watching you will feel your energy and that’s what will keep them watching your videos. In other words, to go viral you have to get your audience actively engaged just like this image below … Nahh I’m just kidding LOL !!

The 4 Core Principles to Creating That Emotional Connections

There are four core principles to creating that emotional connection that leads to sharing and can help make your video contagious :

  1. BE TRUE
  2. DON’T WASTE OUR TIME
  3. BE UNFORGETTABLE
  4. ULTIMATELY, IT’S ABOUT HUMANITY

Don’t try to be anyone else, always be true to yourself and keep things simple, fun and always be confident. The audience will feel your energy so they will keep watching your videos and follow you :)

Again, Feel Free To Share & Like if Enjoyed :)
