The dragon sleeping inside me……

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

The dragon is a beast. It sits  quietly inside the cave.  It sleeps peacefully. Sometimes  it lifts its heavy heads. It has  three heads.

These are called fear, procrastination and paralysis. The dragon is strong. It is a mighty beast.

I want to slay the dragons head. But I cannot. It is inside the cave. I cannot go into this cave. It is deep inside me. I can visit the cave though, in a deep sleep or  meditation.

The dragon will notice my precence. But this is no threat to him. I come peacefully. I stand next to his giant heads. I see its red eyes opened. I have never seen red eyes before. These seem to smile back at me.

I see its skin. The skin is dark  green, thick and very rough. I touch the skin. I feel the warmth. I feel the heart inside the skin pulsing slowly, pulsing away without noticing me.

I see its teeth – big and white and long and sharp. They never  touched me. These teeth never touched my white, smooth skin.

I see  its limbs. So gigantic,  so powerful, so massive. They never hurt me.

I do not feel fear now. I just see the dragon  resting.

But I know that when I leave the cave the dragon will raise. The dragon will start spitting fires at me. These fires never burnt me. These were so close but I never felt the heat. I might have imagined the heat though.

The dragon was standing in way. The bridge was too narrow. I took a step towards the bridge and the dragon  was stepping back. Very slowly. His fires were close to my face.

I hesitated. Stopped. I could not move any  further.  I tought I am going to die. But I never did.  I always stopped and turned back.

I have never managed to cross the bridge.

But I got an idea. What if I push forward inspite of the dragon in front of me. What If I do not give in. I am fed up with my side of the river.

I want to cross the river. I need to cross the river.

I know that I can do it. It might be tomorrow.  Let it be tomorrow.

Tomorrow is the day when I cross the river first time in my life.

Tomorrow is the day Iwill show the dragon who is the knight. The dragon  will be defeated  once and for all. And any time it wants to   stand in my way I will take the step towards it.

Tomorrow is the day I slay the dragons heads for ever.

Cheers,

Maroschief.

P.S.: The knighthood is not for everybody. It is for chosen men, who can slay the dragon. Not by the sword, not by the words. Just by moving ahead fearless. The dragon will never attack. The dragon will disappear as soon as  fear disappears. Go here to kill the dragon.
